Just like all the other reviews here; I'd say this place is amazing. A great experience from start to finish, the staff was prompt and attentive and really made our meal great. Highly recommend the black cod, and of course all their sushi rolls are great. This is the real deal

Hands down one of the best places for sushi. I recommend eating at the bar and going omakase, you won't regret it. It's a tad spendy and the ambience isn't spectacular, but the food is truly the star along with the sushi chefs.

Definitely some of the best sushi I've had personally! The $75 dollar omakase (before tax and tip!) was fantastic, but very pricey. They take care of you pretty well here, and the server explains the items they bring out. That being said, the eponymous Shiro doesn't work here anymore, and I don't know if the food is good enough to justify the extreme cost.

I am sure the food is excellent however their web presence and customer service is not. I tried to make a reservation for my Son's 21st birthday. Went to their website, I did this over two weeks in advance and tried to use the automated system their website says to use if you are making a reservation two weeks in advance. I got a confirmation email, and never got a call back. When I was finally able to get through to confirm the web reservation, the hostess informed me that they no longer accept web or online reservations...CHANGE THE WEBSITE so there is no option or suggestion that you use the online reservation.

There are several excellent sushi restaurants in Seattle, I would suggest you visit them instead of Shiro's...Sushi Kashiba would be an excellent choice.

Sincerely Dean Heisey

Probably the best sushi in Seattle if you can handle the wait. Even with a reservation you will probably have to wait. So worth it though. This is the location of my first celebrity sighting.

Asked at our hotel lobby for the best sushi in town, and they definitely recommended us the best! The quality of the fish is superb! Been in Japan already, and I can say this is as if you were eating there. Great service and very nice quiet place, even if it was full.

Gotten take out boxes from here several times in quarantine. Amazing sushi. The chirashi bowls are the most filling, but the sushi combos are where I really tasted the quality of the fish. The black cod combo is a nice mix of entree and sushi if you want something in between. Little extra things, but I like the moist towels and chopsticks that come with the take out. The towels are heavy duty, not like a thin wipe.

Dined in here on April 16th. Just wow. This is the best sushi I've had in Seattle so far. We got the chef's four course meal and absolutely loved the variety, presentation, and speed at which it was served. It's a bit pricey but worth your time and money. Definitely coming back!

I wish they had a more personal and special ambiance for what they offer, but no complains in the end.

One of the best sushi experiences I have had in the US. We had the omakase. Staff was Japanese, attentive, good service. Not cheap, but won t break the bank either, and who really wants cheap sushi, unless you are getting a California roll or volcano roll, etc. Great experience and would definitely go again and recommend to my friends. The sushi was great, melt in your mouth, and flavorful. My only issue would have been the bathroom situation but not that big of a deal, just a shared bathroom with other restaurants and it was decently clean. I would recommend getting reservations, there was a line when we arrived and left. (We had reservations)

Omakase has in each piece a symphonic masterpiece of taste. I'm transported in each mouthful to a fantastical dream, my eyes tightly closed to wrap my mind around the taste. Traditional style. Amazingly good.

The omakase is good. Not as good as some of the best places in Ouah. But you can taste that the fish is fresh and handled well. Worth the price!

My only complain is the pacing. Dishes come quicker than it should. But that might just be because we had a big group.

Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance. I did some research on this place before coming here and Chef Shiro s new restaurant but opted for the older one for a better price.

I m not from Seattle but I can say this place did not let us down and the quality of the food was impeccable and so was the service. Our waitress gave us great recommendations and explained where each fish came from region/country and the qualities of the fish. Spent about $180 for 2 tip included with drinks and all. Next time we re in Seattle we ll definitely come back here. We ordered by piece and not omakase. Definitely consider this place if you re visiting like me and want to have a great experience and great food! Just book in advance!

I was able to try this restaurant nearby, and I'm thankful because everything here was so tremendously prepared. Also, I would like to commend this restaurant because they are complete in terms of hand sanitizers and washing hands station. Truly a nice place to enjoy some Korean foods and beer. THANKS!

Came here in a bit of a hurry before a show, mentioned it to our server and he had us in and out in 12 mins. Came here for the good reviews, left completely satisfied. Sushi was so fresh. I ol definitely be going back!

If you come here, I recommend sitting at the bar. Every time I've come here, I've been by myself, but had no problems making friends with the chefs or other customers around the bar. I'm pretty indecisive, so I let Shiro pick what sashimi I get until I'm full, and always enjoy the meal (and "dessert"!). I will go out of my way to order the Belltown Poke, but everything I have had was great, and fresh. Whoever is serving you will tell you what fish you should eat with soy sauce, and which ones without.

I'm also a bit of a nerd when it comes to old-fashioned Japanese culture and have been slowly teaching myself, and it was really enjoyable to have simple conversations and learn new words with the staff.

One of the best sushi restaurants in the world, no exaggeration. It isn't that much more expensive than a lesser sushi restaurant but the quality is over the top. The staff are friendly and accommodating, plus very knowledgeable. I definitely recommend eating here and, if adventurous, order Omakase, which is a selection made by the chef in a traditional manner, based on the best cuts currently in stock.

We did the sushi omakase, which was totally worth it. Fish was incredible in flavor, texture and temperature. Did get some sweet shrimp and uni which are not for everyone, but overall it was delicious and lovely.

Amazing food. Had the Omakase and it was one of the best I've ever experienced. The sushi bar was perfect for me as I was traveling alone on business. Be sure to make reservations as I saw a few walk-in groups turned away and it was on a Wednesday night.

If you are travelling and had good sushi in any other big cities you can skip this place. I can tell they are trying to be a premium Japanese restaurant but the food just don't match. I had the premium omakase. Most of the sushi was tasteless. Only the shrimp, clamp, the fattest part of the tuna and a veggie roll was good. The shrimp head and egg cake was made long time ago before they are being served. The mushroom soup looked cute but tasted just like an average miso soup.I gave it 4 stars because it is actually not bad, however, I had higher expectations due to the good reviews.

Shiros was more of an experience for us than a restaurant where you fill your belly. We did one of the menus where you try a little of everything and we were amazed by the different fish cuts, textures and flavors... so when I say its an experience I'm saying that you are meant to take your time with looking, smelling and tasting each course. BTW the best miso soup I've had in my life! Desert was also an interesting thing, we had a sort of jelly and a green tea fried ice cream. Both very interesting in flavor and taste. Anyway, we recommend it as a place to try what we think its more of a traditional high end sushi.

Great sushi, very fresh and tasteful! I try sushi in every city I visit. The sushi in this restaurant is one of the best I ever tried. Fresh and made with care by the chef. Really recommended to sit at the bar and have the (Japanese) chef make a selection of sushi for you (it's possible to pick by yourself as well). The chef will explain what kind of fish it is, and advise whether or not you should use soya saus. Do make a reservation, it's very popular. It's a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. Friendly chefs and other staff.

The sushi here was great. The service was entertaining and prompt. It was also fun to tell people I had eaten at a restaurant of an apprentice of Jiro.... at least those who have seen the documentary.

Sushi chefs are really great, but fish is hit or miss for the price. Extremely good selection of Japanese fish but the treatment often leaves something to desire. Service isn't what you expect for the price-- late delivery of hot towels, limited sake and tea selection.

Wonderful place Sushi.

Wonderful place Sushi.

My wife and I went with our two teenage kids. We all had the tasting menu. Initially it seems expensive at 65 per head however there is so much food.

Everything was fresh and delicious!! The service is polite and efficient. The atmosphere is not stuffy or pretentious.

I wish we lived closer!

Is it the best sushi I've ever had? Probably not- but it's up there. The quality of the fish is outstanding in many instances, but the sushi rolls themselves are just average - the spicy tuna felt like mush. Rainbow was better. Stick with the other options for an amazing experience.

OMG. melt in your mouth medium fatty tuna. I love this place, it was an amazing omasake experience that i'll forever have dreams about. I highly recommend this place for your trip to seattle. The service was wonderful and the chef preparing my sushi was very nice. The omasake changes my perspective about sushi and now I wan't to skip all the rolls and just do nigiri and sashimi forever. For omasake, you don't need a size of soy sauce, because the chef flavors and add hints of soy/wasabi to each fish. I wanted to savor every bite of fish i was about to try. The scallops were also really good, and I'm not much of a scallop lover! The sushi chef did an amazing job presenting each course.

Nearly the best money can buy. Omakase is not cheap, certainly. You do, however, get what you pay for. Reservations is very difficult to get, but surprisingly, I saw a few empty tables when I first arrived at 5:30PM. The spots at the bar was completely taken up within minutes of the restaurant opening.

If you get to eat here, definitely try the black cod and the omakase.

We arrived and were told a 30 minute wait, then checked back after 25 minutes to be told another 30 minutes. It was packed and the vibe was nice so we decided to wait. This sushi spot was good for the avid nigiri eater. In terms of rolls, the options were quite slim. Dont get me wrong, I love sushi, but I enjoy rolls more. Our server was kind, attentive and his support staff was on top of everything. All in all, its good for people that want fish on rice.

I was told the omikase is the only way to go. That was a wise recommendation and it solidified why the wait to get a table was so long. Well timed courses signified a memorable progression through the sushi (nigiri mostly) menu. A very enjoyable sushi experience; glad to see the establishment has lived up to the quality hype that is bestowed upon it. Rather on the expensive side.

Been coming here for years. Solid and consistent quality in everything. Since the pandemic, I've been ordering takeout as much as I can. They haven't missed a beat, even when the meals are packed up. If reality gets you down, treat yourself to a meal to-go from Shiro's. You deserve it, and they deserve us. Let's keep this Seattle gem alive.

Great service from beginning to end. Reservations for tables are highly recommended. A line starts forming at minimum 30 minutes prior to opening at 5:30pm. Omakase at the sushi bar is probably the best way to go if you can get a seat (first come first serve) however, we still had fantastic dishes and sushi at the table. Sushi on the small side, but all the fish was fresh, and the Toro was amazing, melt in your mouth! Geoduck appetizer was perfectly cooked. The fresh crab roll is definitely a must!

Fantastic selection of very fresh fish, perfectly cut and exactly the right amount of rice. The best sushi I've had in Seattle.
Service is also spot on, be prepared for a wait though, as the locals clearly know the value of good food.

I enjoyed our takeout from Shiro s Sushi Restaurant. Sashimi assortment is really good. Everything was fresh and delicious: tuna, yellowtail, salmon albacore, sea bass. Order was quick and easy to pick up. I would definitely come back again!
