Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Review

If I could give them a zero star rating I would. Made a reservation with this motel back in September of 2019 for January 8 to 10, 2020. I had to cancel it due to an unexpected conflict with my work. I called them up today (November 13) and let them know that I would need to cancel this reservation (2 months in advance). So they cancelled my reservation but then charged me $227.85. I asked what was going on and "why I'm I being charged?" The Sheraton employee told me that this reservation occurred during a conference event (that was going on in Tampa at that time) and they would not refund me the first night. I mentioned that I was informed that I would be able to cancel my reservation up to 48 hours in advance with no charge. They told me that "there was nothing they could do." After arguing with them for a while they said "I'm sorry I can't help you, thank you" and hung up. I still have my e-mail copy of the reservation and no where in the e-mail does it state any cancellation restrictions. Now working with my credit card company and having to depute this charge. No one should have to go through this hassle because the Sheraton can't provide quality customer service when booking a reservation.

All I can say is that Ron our shuttle bus driver was fantastic. As he drove us to Ybor he told us some history of the area and I truly wish I could have gone on a whole tour of the city with him. Sadly he had more customers to go pick up. Ron you made our stay at the Sheraton.

As for the hotel, definitely try and get a room on the water side. It's a beautiful view of Riverwalk and the pool. I removed a star only because my bed wasn't super comfortable along with the pillows but maybe it's because nothing is as comfortable as you bed at home.

Way over priced. Crappy view of downtown buildings, no mini fridge, and I dont think they bring food to your room. I've had better experiences at hotels that were 1/3 of the price

Great location with a nice view on the river and city but it seem the hotel is in need of repairs. The odor when you walk in indicates to me that there is some issue with the HVAC systems, in my room the odor was even worse. The TV was coming in clear, the railing on the my particular balcony seemed very week and a bold was missing on one end, the toilet needs multiple flushes and the sink does not drain...imo. it might be time for a well deserved and needed refit

Loved the location and the staff. Sheila who was part of the clean crew is amazing and all the staff on the front desk always went out of there way to help.

Nice location on the riverwalk, which has a pretty path for walking and running. My room was dated and had some cosmetic damage, but the staff went above and beyond to recognize my SPG status, which I felt like made up for it a bit.

Staff was friendly, room was clean, bed was comfy.. Can't ask for much more than that.

Locations is great, hotel shuttle takes you to Channel side boardwalk where downtown restaurants are located. The room itself however is very outdated, not up to Sheraton standards. Overall If you don't care much about the room, it's a great place to explore downtown Tampa as waterfront cement boardwalk connects you to lot's of downtown venues ( Forum, Convention center, Aquarium, Library, Tampa University etc..) For $5 You can also ride a street car (trolley) all day from the hotel to Ybor city, where movie theater, bar and restaurants are.

I have never been and I stopped by for for a beverage. Everything was great. Live music, the outdoor bartenders were amazing. Lexy made are me and my group were always taken care of. Didn't wait for anything. Fast and friendly. I'm definitely recommending this hotel, and coming back.

Very nice hotel, but there were some stains on the curtains and scratches on the bed's header. TV signal was not digital.

Attended a wedding. Nice place and confortable chairs.

This was the worst Sheraton we ever stayed at. Stay away. Two couples two rooms, the rooms were musty and dirty. One of us had to have a new room because the sink would not work. The other, the tub had water in it when we went in and the tub never went down. Our carpet was stained, dirty and the pattern was worn right off. We and many others could not get served at the bar. The bartender was more worried about the outside tables than the people sitting down at the bar. this was at 3:00 in the afternoon. He actually asked us to sit at a table and ask the waiter to get us drinks. Dozens of people walked away. We had dinner reservations for 5:00. Do not eat at the Rivers Edge restaurant. It took us two hours and five different waiters to get our meal. (average food at best) Other people were leaving without getting served. We went to a show elsewhere and were hoping to get a drink when we returned but it closed 1 1/2 hours ahead off what the sign said, and the bartender was standing at the bar doing paperwork. At least 25 other people were turned away in the short time we stood there. Stay away, stay away stay, away.

I'm still going back to this hotel because it was fantastic and worth a stay. The quarters, the staff, and the services were all wonderful and beautiful. I've been there for a week lately, and I really enjoyed it. In addition, the climate has improved. It was more relaxed and fun to linger. It's highly recommended!

Beautiful location by the river walk. Very friendly staff and clean room but the place smelled like open sewer. Not sure if they had leak or it was due to the river next to the hotel.

To be honest the place seems just a little bit run down. Being a SPG member I stay almost exclusively at Sheraton when ever possible, but this one really was not up to the standard of other Sheraton properties. The staff was great but in its current condition this Sheraton is comparable to much less expensive options.

This hotel was well below my expectations for a corporation as big as Sheraton. The valet Marcus was rude and unprofessional as well as the night manager at front desk. The rooms were dirty with filthy windows... the bathrooms are in desperate need of a redo... toothpaste spit on old wallpapered walls... faucets grimy at sink and in bath. Not all what I would expect for a Sheraton charging 200+ a night. I ve stayed at La Quinta s that were cleaner and more accommodating to their guests ... don t stay here! Very disappointed

I want to start by saying that Alyssa at the front desk was great, she was polite and friendly. We arrived at 3:00pm to find out our room wasn t ready. Alyssa pre-registered us and gave us breakfast vouchers for the inconvenience. After returning from Busch Gardens at 2:30am we found out the elevator was not working. That was fine as our room was on the 3rd floor. I was disappointed at the room due to the fact that the website had stated rooms had been remodeled in 2018. I paid $250+ and expected more than what we got. The TV remote wasn t working, the bathroom was old and stained, the fixtures were rusted and the paint on the ceiling was peeling. For a hotel of a 3+ stars in rating it needs a lot of improvement. Charging $15/person for a breakfast buffet that has less than what you would get for free at a Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites, La Quinta, Holiday Inn even a Best Western etc is not what you would expect.

We stayed on a newly renovated floor, which was really nice, however there were issues with the tv that took an hour to replace, the plug in the shower was broken, and it must have been garbage day because from 430 am on there were garbage trucks beeping and dumping the rest of the morning. We told them of our experience, and they were VERY accommodating...they comped our breakfast and our parking. Very friendly staff, and great location!

A nice hotel with a beautiful view of the river. Has a great pool. It could use some sprucing up. if you are a Starwood member it's a great Hotel to build your points.

It's been Christmas so the surrounding areas are slow, and some of the club amenities were closed, but they made up for it. Good service, good pool, good rooms. Can't complain for what we received!

Really a mixed bag and I debated on whether to call this two or three starts but here's the quick run down. The banquet halls and catering are pretty nice, the bar is ridiculously overpriced, the restaurant is excellent, and the rooms are mediocre at best. Was encouraged to sign up for the green service, foregoing my room getting cleaned, but it was still cleaned twice in my five day stay. On top of that, I wasn't told about the points/food comp bonus of going green until I was almost gone. Will definitely be staying elsewhere next time I'm in Tampa.

Beautiful location, right on the water, wasn't the best bar service, great overall!

The hotel is nice but the employees at the front desk are rude and uninviting. The women give bad attitudes and do nothing to help. The hotel is way to expansive not worth the money.

There for a conference but the AC was not up to par and the rooms were hot early and even hotter as the day progressed. Hopefully not a normal thing. Nice views of the river though.

Good overall on everything and great customer service

I was recently here for a conference and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate an issue that we had. They worked so hard to make sure that everyone was comfortable.

Nice place to get food by the pool and relax a bit.. they also had an open bar b4 covit ...# good times

Not the best value for your money. Only convenient if youre needing to stay in the vicinity.

Excellent experience. Rooms are fresh and clean and the staff were very professional, friendly and helpful.

Staff was very courteous and helpful. Room had dirty coffee pot, toilet ran all night, television kept loosing the signal so you couldn't watch anything, sliding door needs new seal as you hear everything outside like it was in your room and lastly having room right next to the ice machine makes for a very early wake up call with those filling their coolers.

Booked the Sheraton Riverwalk as the preferred hotel for my wedding in June! Heather & Danette helped reserve a hotel block for my wedding guests and party. They were in communication during our wedding planning and ensured all of my questions were answered. Valet service is the only option for parking but the team was very quick and efficient. The front driveway was under construction and there was a lot of debris and was unattractive to my wedding guests. Unfortunately the pool was also being emptied for repair so we were unable to utilize the patio and pool for entertainment. The rooms were kept clean and neat and the breakfast buffet was delicious.

Very nice and clean hotel. Stay was friendly. The room was big however it felt very humid even though the AC was on 65. Other then that wonderful!!

My team had a meeting in the Bay shore room and the service was excellent.

Went to a chirstmas party resently.hotel was nice.there was a female staff member that got upset because I wanted to use a coffee cup for water.why? I don't know why she just huffed and rolled her eyes at me.the food that was served was very under cooked.green beans were like pencils. Mash potatoes were cold.chicken still had blood in middle.I am glad I was told to check it.I am not trying to get anything out of this.it just seemed to me that the staff could do better.they were not ready for this event at all.just try a little more for the other events.thanks.

My family and I stayed August 3 and 4.The first room we are assigned had a strange smoking smell my wife asthma was acting up.I spoke with Stephanie Johnson at the front Desk.She was very apologetic and found us another room.Well let just say she did an awsome job.She made the rest of the stay awsome."Went over and beyond "

Stopped in for drinks, the staff was very helpful and incredibly accommodating. Everybody seemed to go out of their way to give us a great experience.

Great location. Most of the staff was friendly, but we encountered more than a few members of staff over the weekend that didn't seem to want to be bothered. Biggest issue was the rooms. You can see they were nice in their day, but are in need of updating. Very musty smelling rooms, A/C barely cools the room, vents are very dirty, etc

I was charged a cancellation fee when I cancelled before hand for a group reservation I was apart of so when I tried to call and get the issue resolved your front desk rep Samantha kept transferring my calls without hearing my problem. Four times in a row she just allowed the phone to ring. Then she gets sarcastic when I told her I was calling corporate and sure have a great day!!. I finally got to someone and the reason they gave me for the charge made no sense at all. I'm supposed to have a refund in about a week.

The place here is very scenic and a lot of fun things to do

Nice clean hotel on the riverwalk. It's a little older than the other nearby hotels, but it's in the middle of everything. You can hop on their river taxi and UBER can get you everyplace else.

At the entrance to downtown and it is still possible to sleep. The rooms are nice and quiet.

Visited for company holiday party. Food was good but bartender was a little uptight

Hotel well located I liked the bar very good workers the lobby Organized the valet good service the room I had was smelling real cleaning on the 6th floor and everything was well organized the balcony clean the chairs had no dust I liked the cleaning of the bathroom all well cleaned I think the maids name is kilairy I do not remember the name of the card well but thank you Kilairy for your good work and Good job to the bar and the valet ThomasG.

Close to many interesting places as the Arena, aquarium, lots of eating venues etc. Great concierge and local shuttle service also a quiet building with great view of the river walk.

My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel, commencing on July 6, 2014 and checking out on July 10, 2014. We chose this particular Hotel because of the convenience to Tampa General and Tampa General Medical Clinic. Everyone was wonderful, there is a restaurant in the hotel, which was very convenient, so we did not have to get our vehicle out to find a place to eat. Their shuttle service is great also. I had the same driver all but twice while we were there, and I can't say enough about them. Daniel was the driver that shuttled me around mostly, and very willing to help. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone. If either my husband or I need to stay in that area again, we will definitely stay at the Sheraton. Wonderful staff, and great room.

I have visited Sheraton multiple times on account of all State rehearsals, it has been a pleasant experience, the staff are very attentive and always on their A game, highly recommended.

I had came yesterday to check in did the payment online and when I get up there they ask for a fee witch was never said and I had payd with a different name credit card since I had not my own since they never talked about fee and due to that I wasn t able to stay there that night and then once he realized I was 18 had lied about age requirement saying that I wouldn t have been able to stay there witch state online that 18 is the age requirement for a room

Rooms were very average - seemed like it had been awhile since they had renovations. View was great for sunset. Employees were not overly nice it interactive on my stay. Not sure it was worth the price.

Attended a wedding at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk and was very impressed

We had a wonderful stay! The staff was very friendly and the breakfast buffet was delicious. The bed was extremely comfortable and the riverwalk view was beautiful. We will be returning guests!

I was recently at a wedding here and found the rooms and venue to be nice. The reason for the bad review is the bar unfortunately. The bartender doubled menu prices and lied when asked if there were cheaper scotches available (I had one earlier in the day and the bottle was still visibily full on the shelf). Several other guests I asked had similar complaints so we left rather quickly after the wedding. It's a shame that one dishonest employee dragged down an otherwise good venue.

Hotel is very nice. We got the cheapest room offered. It is clean, nothing fancy. Didn't have a mini fridge which was a little disappointing, but overall very nice.

The location is great, right on the riverwalk which makes it nice and convenient to walk around. The hotel facilities and cleanliness are below standard for this hotel chain. The hotel is old and outdated and need some improvements. Once i checked-in the room, the used shampoo bottles were left behind, the pubic hair were left in the sink and ceiling in the bathroom. I would assume with the pandemic, the hotel would pay extra attention on cleaning but that's not the case. I have stayed at many places for Marriott chain and this is definitely the worst one and never going back there again. This made me questioned if i should make future reservations at Sheraton hotels based on my recent stayed or i just got unlucky.

Not the newest property, and its been under renovation every time I've stayed here. The staff are friendly and I like the club lounge for spg members.

This hotel is in an interesting location. It's not a far walk from anything in downtown Tampa although you'll probably need your car valeted at the hotel. The free WiFi is incredibly show but you can pay more for faster speeds. The breakfast buffet was fine but not very large. The rooms are decent too.

Beautiful hotel with great facilities including pool with towels provided. Wonderful food. Luxurious bedroom with 2 large beds and balcony. Stunning river views. Will stay again.
