Great Mosque. The cleanliness, the history & the architecture. You can find history and achievement in every corner of mosque whether its the persian carpet, mother pearls, great chandeliers, all were amazing. View of pillars was breathtaking. Gift shop was very nice, good souvenirs. And thankyou to the great ruler of Abu Dhabi, who has kept 24 priests to sing prayers continuously to give us all a soothing experience. If you are in Abu Dhabi, do visit the mosque. Amazingly Beautiful.

Amazing mosque and a popular attraction for Abudhabi and UAE. It lives upto its "grand" name by its grandeur. With an expansive park all around it, and the glimmering water pools surrounding it, and the magnificent architecture and the sheer size of the buildings are striking. Free to visit, with endless parking spaces. Only requirement is that women are required to cover their hair with a shawl or an abaya that can be rented for free by providing any original I'd.

We visited the mosque late in the evening and it was magical to experience the monument during a quite time. Our fantastic guide, Abdul Rachman, explained not only the building, but impressed upon us the beauty of Islam and the message of inclusivity embodied in the structure.

The Grand Mosque is incredible, you have to do it! You can enter inside and visit everyday after 4pm. It is completely FREE.
When you arrive you will have to register and then you may have to change your clothes. Specially for women but they provide everything and it is part of the experience! More importantly, there is a FREE tour of the Mosque! It was amazing! Every 30 minutes it starts from the main entrance and you go everywhere with two guides! We did the tour with Zainab! She is incredible! We loved her and the tour! If I can give you an advice, do not book a tour to visit the Mosque because you won t be able to enter the prayer room and other areas while with the FREE tour provided by the Mosque you can!

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is the largest mosque in the UAE.
The entrance to the mosque is a highly secured dome opposite the actual mosque, with a passage way linked to the mosque.
Rules are strict at the mosque, women should be fully covered and men should be properly dressed, pictures are allowed around the inner parts of the mosque.
I had a great time at the mosque, it is one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture I have ever seen.

Of course it s beautiful because it s a masjid, and the beauty is in it s inspiring presence . But I as a Muslim was offended at my treatment when visiting. I wasn t allowed to enter one of the places where the tourists were allowed to go. I was specifically stopped from entering an area precisely because I am a Muslim and apparently only those who were curious non-Muslims were allowed in at that point. A masjid belongs to the Muslims - I mean there is no issue with tourism and welcoming others but how does that justify the people of the masjid being told they aren t allowed there? Think you ve got your priorities mixed up there a wee bit.

Even if you only have an hour of free time in Abu Dhabi, board a taxi and rush to this place if you haven't seen it before. It has a lot of the same fabulous quality as Taj Mahal and has potential for becoming the Taj Mahal of the 21st century.

Constructed between 1996 and 2007 at the request of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and first president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is by far the most popular of Abu Dhabi's sights, and it's easy to see why. One of the largest mosques in the world, this house of worship features 82 domes, more than 1,000 columns and a white and gold facade. What's more, this is one of only two mosques in the UAE open to non-Muslim tourists. That means that visitors from all around the globe can walk across the world's largest hand-woven rug, gaze up at one of the world's largest chandeliers and admire the fusion of Fatimid, Mamluk and Ottoman architectural styles, representing three different Islamic dynasties.

Although it's not Abu Dhabi's oldest attraction, those who have visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque say that a stop here is a must for those who want a better understanding of the city's religious identity. The site is one of the world's most significant examples of contemporary Islamic architecture. You are welcome to explore the mosque on your own, but many travelers recommend tagging along on one of the free guided tours; tours take between 45 minutes and an hour and can be reserved in advance, or you can simply show up and wait for the next scheduled English tour. Our guide was outstanding; no religion, just amazing facts and with his commentary we understood the incredible engineering, art [and] workmanship that make this so very special.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is open to the public Saturday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with the last entry at 9:30 p.m. On Fridays, the mosque is open from 5 to 11 p.m. Admission is free every day of the week. Walk-in tours are offered at various times during those days. The mosque is located near the three bridges separating the city of Abu Dhabi from the mainland you can access the site via taxi or the 32, 44 and 54 buses from central Abu Dhabi city. Remember: This is still an active mosque serving up to 40,000 worshippers. You should dress modestly in loose-fitting long pants or skirts and long-sleeve shirts, and women will need to cover their heads.
