I would highly recommend SFSU! I've had excellent professors! I also enjoyed all of my classes!
Graduated in 2013 and visited in 2020. Nothing has changed on the main campus other than a new gator statue.
I enjoyed getting my degree from there; most of the professors are very good. The campus is well maintained and relatively safe.
This review is regarding the outside of the school: The view is beautiful and perfect for walks any time of the day. This school is well-lit outside so don't be afraid to stroll at night! I love how close this school is to transit and the library is huge! Make sure you stop by just to enjoy the scenery.
The campus area is green and clean, you can hear birds singing when you walk in the morning. You can see many kind of flowers, and more in the Spring. The pictures show SFSU in pandemic time when student have to study from home , the campus is really quiet and empty.
This schools a very good place to go to learn good atmosphere and a lot of good teachers.
They just got a new gym and it's pretty cool. Have yet to find the schedule for the shuttle though.
Well my cousin goes to that school and it's really interesting and almost impossible to get into.
SFSU is a beautiful campus. The library was recently remodeled and looks great.
Really nice campus and well maintained! Centrally located and well known!
My favorite place to watch Cal football. Great venue and loud! Go Bears
If they employ people like Eric Clanton then it's not the place to send your children! They NEED to SUPPORT AMERICA not try to topple it with bike locks!
I can only speak for the Communication Studies department as well as the English department, but the faculty and staff were all great. I felt like I was challenged with the coursework and homework assignments. Even though they had to work with major budget cuts, I admire all the faculty did to make sure we got a quality education.
The parking situation for a commuter campus is poor, but I didn't have to deal with that because I lived nearby. I think the other facilities (recreation, libraries, bookstores, food, etc) were decent. The dorms are alright, but there is limited space on campus so it's too bad they cannot create more housing.
Want to give a shoutout to my professor who drove every day to and from Santa Cruz!
It's a beautiful campus! There's tons of places to sit and study, plus food available on campus and a nearby shopping center.
Alumni here, 2010. I was arrested by a police officer on a bike for riding a bike on campus. The hypocrisy is astounding. I will never set another foot on this campus for as long as I live. Such a nightmare.
San Francisco State University (SFSU) is one of the 23 most prestigious campuses under the California State University system. It was founded in 1899 and is a 100-year-old public university in the United States. The area enjoys a high reputation. 2016 US News & World Report ranked 50th in the US Western University, ranked 87th in the Best Public Affairs Institute, and ranked 100th in the number of professional graduates. In 2013, the Global University Network (4ICU) ranked in the top 200 universities in the world, ranked 109, Aspen Peng Institute of Business Administration MBA MBA global ranking 37, the United States ranked 27.
San Francisco State University is located in the southwest of San Francisco, not far from the city center and the Pacific Ocean. San Francisco has a pleasant climate and beautiful environment. It is recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It has the famous Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge. It is also the economic and high-tech development center of California and the United States. It is located in the Silicon Valley area of South Bay. The location of the world's high-tech elites and famous large companies.
Most people here commute to school or live off campus, such as park merced and etc for a cheaper price, because housing at sfsu is kinda overpiced but that's not suprising to hear since it's San Francisco. What I love about the place is the newly build gym, which is free for students and the libray. (Absolutely take advantage of it). I have liked all my professors so far except for my math instructor who was kind of an ass.
The Administrative and Admission Office are not helpful, they don t do their work on time and when you asked for your original transcript they lost it. More than 3 months and Didn t solve my problem. Good university but very lazy administrative and admission departments. So sad.
Awesome university... I fall in love at first sight.
This school has a wonderful team of dedicated and knowledgeable staff and faculty. I haven't had any issues with them as far as paperwork, transcripts, etc. If you're navigating the ASI/student body organization system it can be pretty confusing. Organizations here use orgsync, which has it's own set of complications that I wont get into. The school's website is not the easiest to navigate either. Everyone I have encountered here is helpful though, and if you ask, you will be guided in the right direction for things. The best bathrooms are located in the caesar chavez building. The bathrooms in all the other buildings are disgusting though. Beware.
This school was perfect for me, I like the size of campus and location. Professors are amazing and are helpful. My classes are great, I like my schedule and every thing else about this school.
sad day for the fight to equality. People no matter how different they are should not be assaulted for your own personal opinion of them. Staff should be held to an even higher standard of behavior.
The school was very neat and clean everyday, because a few janitors made the place clean everyday. A lot of garbage cans were placed at all floors so that the students can throw their garbage at the right place anytime.
I graduated from here, and I love this school. I'm sad that they decided to fixc and improve the campus when I leave. I would really recommend everyone to come here, it's definately a good school. Too bad it's also a communter school, I lived in DC (daly city) the whole 4 years while I attended school, rent is so much cheaper. Don't live in the dorms, you're paying way too much to have to share a small room with someone. I mean it's cool, if you're from out of state, a good way to meet new friends.
I was there really for work but it's beautiful place
I went here for undergraduate as a BECA major. The upside is that they have an awesome facilities for broadcasting - sound stages and studios. The downside is that there's not a lot of career prep or networking events to help you find work after graduation, you kinda have to discover that on your own. Otherwise, if you don't mind a huge commuter campus, this is pretty good for what it's worth.
I was really excited to attend but overall it wasn t much different than community college at least for Gen ed. my excitement peaked week 4 and by week 11 of the semester I realized what was ahead of me and how the school is kind of a crazy mess. Having ethnic studies tie their bodies to the Muni tracks and an on campus anti abortion protest with bloody pictures was definitely a bit much And not made better by the pleasant Marchant booths the fallowing week. My department I ve heard is basically a mess though unfortunately. My CC was state if the art and this place has some buildings that are authentically 1950 s and untouched it s kind of scary so I try not to think about earthquakes given that Fine Arts, the library and Humanities are probably the safest buildings on campus. It feels impossible and hopeless here because almost nobody lives near campus and everyone commutes so it always feels dead. This factor makes it very hard to feel/get connected on campus to any degree and make friends. Don t get fooled by impacted programs it doesn t exactly mean they are good it just means the school is cheap and hasn t built new buildings like it probably should have(Cinema, science and kin departments that s you!). Go here if they have a good program for your major that s what s important, not location, student life etc.
Excellent campus that caters to everyone. Professors are knowledgeable and a lot are huge advocates and figures of the community. To take a class here can really change and heighten your perspective of life in so many ways.
I can not get into my Google account snd other news i Want to read. I am getting tired of this. The store i got the Phone from said the phone no Good, becsuse of the virus
As far as the Baseball Field, very good Field. The Selection Day, there were more than 40 Players joined the "Showcase" Very Popular School.
Expensive and not enough parking spaces. The shuttle takes for ever with a really long line good luck standing. Shuttle take lunch time during rush hours where student commute the most. The gym is really small and open for hours the mostly in class. The school is great however the environment and utilities makes it hard for the student. The school shall work on that...
I obtained a BA degree from SFSU and I really enjoyed my education there. I found the professors to be nice and helpful. My classes were interesting and although there were times it was hard to get the class I needed, overall I ended up getting my degree in a timely fashion and everything worked out in the end; it took me just over four years to get my degree so the classes can't be that hard to come by. I also found the advisors in the Humanities department to be very helpful and interested in helping me meet my graduation requirements. I highly recommend this school!
I have had teachers who do not care about your educational career. they do not understand there is days you just physically cannot attend, they do not bother to help you even when you go to their office hours, favoritism is a huge thing too, and to get help is so complicated because they are completely unorganized.
Went with my daughter to incoming student orientation and was very impressed with the campus!
This is a great campus right in the heart of San Francisco. It was founded in 1899. In the beginning it was a 2 year teacher training school then it became part of the CSU system in 1960. Now it is one of the most popular University in the bay area. It is very convenient to a muni stop for the 28, 29, 47 bus line and the M street cars. When school is in session, on 19th and Holloway, San Francisco State University will provide free shuttle to the Daly City bart station. There is a Stonestown Mall with Nordstorm and Macys towards the right side of the campus.
