Always nice to look around here in a beautiful building.

I like coming here! It is currently partly under renovation and I can not wait until it is finished.

We agreed to go shopping with 3 people on a Sunday. We were given enough time and it took us more than an hour and a half. One visit to Donner is always a treat. Nice collection and many extras.

They have books and many nice gifts. In addition to books and stationery, there are also many nice gifts to be found, including Rotterdam memories for Rotterdam residents or tourists. Everything is on the pricey side.

Donner Boeken was one of the largest bookshops. Now they have managed to survive in digital violence in a very slimmed-down form. It is always an experience to find special books.

Vast variety of books, postcards, maps and educational toys for children and adolescents. The bookstore is located in a beautiful building in the very center of Rotterdam. Public transport in abundance and also parking lots a few minutes from the premises. Elevator and facilities for people with walking difficulties. Pleasant cafeteria within the premises with top quality products. Excellent service and consumer assistance.

Beautifully beautiful large bookshop. Lots of choice for every subject and books in different languages. Despite the renovation, it is still good to stay.

Because you have a huge choice of books. From children's books to school books, novels, science books and hobby books and so on and so on. CDs and LPs are also available for purchase. It is worth taking a look at this store.

I am starting to feel at home again and I am slowly getting back on the road.

Donner is originally a Rotterdam bookstore, which originated in 1912 at the Gedempte Biersloot.


Donner became part of the Kluwer publishing house in 2006 and went
eventually independently as a bookstore Selexyz. Financially lean years followed and soon Selexyz went bankrupt.
Investor ProCures bought Selexyz & bookstore De Slegte and then continued under the name Polare. Polare, too, did not last long and had to close its doors in 2015.

Five former Donner employees, however, realized a restart with the help of 7 private investors and a large crowdfunding campaign, in which 1,750 crowdunders contributed 250,000.
The crowdfunders were then brought together in a cooperative. The Lijnbaan building had to be exchanged for a place in the former bank building of the old ABN AMRO-BANK, which was occupied at the end of May 2014.

The bank building has been completely renovated since 2017. Donner moved into the building several times during the two years of renovation in order to make the renovation or renovation possible.
At the end of 2019, the renovation will be completed and the clients can breathe with relief and indulge in books in the most diverse genres.

The building is wheelchair-friendly and, in addition to stairs, also has a lift for the mobility-impaired client. The multicolored floor covering gives the building a fresh and open character.
The hospitality industry is well represented with friendly prices and a seating area, where you can drink coffee together and converse comfortably.

Donner is again "alive & kicking" and definitely worth a visit; even if you are not directly looking for an exciting or informative book.

Very nice and pleasant shop. They have a very wide range and it is nice that the second-hand department continues to exist. The store is open while a renovation is in progress, of course the store will close temporarily, but for the time being everything is well organized and you will not notice much of the renovation. I am very curious about the new store. It is also nice to order online, great website and good prices. Nice that a bookshop has survived, hopefully they will keep it up.

Apart from the pleasant atmosphere, there is also a quiet place in the back where you can drink coffee and they have a modest lunch menu. Delicious croquettes (cheese and beef) from Holtkamp are highly recommended

Excellent furnished super large bookstore with lots of choice and also a department where games and drawing supplies are for sale and of course a coffee room

A wonderful place where you can find books in English, Spanish, French and other languages. An excellent selection in the music department and first class customer service (they brought me the basket, they advised the book for the piano, they wrapped the purchase for the gift, and everything with a smile). For the part of the old books I have no words, it is to stay all day.

Great thing. Pleasant to relax for a long time. Big choice. One of my favorite places in Rotterdam.

Construction is still underway, but you can already see that it will be a fantastic place. Incredibly extensive and the coffee corner there is a big plus.

This is also a heaven for the book lover during the major renovation. Even if you want to reminisce with a cup of coffee, you have to be in Donner. So nice that this business is back in Rotterdam!

Very large and many books on all subjects, whether it concerns music magazines, comics, photography, art, architecture or reading books. And coffee corner. Easy to reach by metro, get off at the fair and then you are right there.

Beautiful offer, soon an even more beautiful property. Just before closing time a gentleman who comes to me and says that there are still five minutes, with a comparative face that actually says: if you need ten minutes, I understand. And once outside with my bike I see him walking past and he wishes me a good evening. Do not make a faint joke now, I thought that was beautiful and personal.

Nice bookstore! its a shame that the surroundings are still not ready. I didn't even realize there was a bookstore over there. Good book assortiment + decoration and office supplies.

Remains a nice thing despite being in the renovation. Do you have to find out where you have to go inside because outside renovations are also taking place. Ridiculously high prices in the cafe ... For a moderate tosti and a bottle of water to pay more than 9 is not nice.

I've been to Donner today after months, because they've been renovating the building, and discovered it's a much larger bookshop now, with a lot of choice and a cozy environment, sort of Fnac as in Paris.

Fine Rotterdam bookstore. Since the entrance has been renewed it has all become a lot cleaner and the collection has expanded considerably. You can now also go up with the escalator.
Upstairs there is also a restaurant and a small theater.

Despite the renovations to the building, the store is in perfect shape! I look forward to seeing what the store will look like after all renovations. They have already earned these 5 stars!
