Excellent customer service! They do not say no and they look for a solution that we loved. Very good food at a considerable price. Nice facilities and they are renovating, a small hotel to go with 2 children maximum. The beach Potrero is one of the most beautiful, access to the beach a plus. Completely recommended! We hope to return

Perfect little boutique--ish hotel in Playa Potrero. We stayed in a relatively spacious room with a queen bed, but I noticed some rooms were more recently renovated. It had a full kitchen with an oven and full size fridge, some of the appliances were showing some wear. Interior AC units worked great, so room was always comfortable.
Landscaping was lovely, pool area was great, plenty of parking, and best of all--right on the beach. Hot tubs are pool temperature. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The waiters are not all over you when you're hanging by the pool, which I kind of appreciate. Free yoga in the palapa every morning. Sunset views are amazing and the 2 for 1 cocktails at happy hour coincide nicely.
Potrero is chill, good little market for necessities, a couple of restaurant options.

We stayed here for a 5 day rest at the end of our Costa Rica track from Rainforest through Volcano and Cloud forest, it's an amazing beach hotel with friendly staff, lovely food, and warm water swims, a couple of restaurants nearby also, and a supermarket right on the doorstep.
Loved it would definitely recommend this place

Poor maintenance and design can't make up for great location and sweetheart staff. Bacteria build up in the air conditioning units gave two of us respiratory problems and we spent the second day recovering from lack of sleep and breathing problems the night before.

The staff fixed the problem the next day, but decent maintenance would have prevented it.

The house phone in our room never did work. No one came to fix it after we complained.

Many of the electrical outlets didn't work. Again, there was no attempt to fix them. (But, we were only staying two nights.)

We had a two-bedroom suite. Loved the patio and big living room. Disliked the tiny bedrooms and bathrooms.

AND, perhaps second only to the dirty AC, why would a hotel in a tropical location install slippery floor tiles in the public areas? We all tried to be very careful while walking since we were there in the rainy season. But, wouldn't it make sense to have non-skid floor tiles?

Best yoga on the beach! Gorgeous grounds and pool. Fantastic and friendly service from the people who work there - and they WILL remember your name when you return the next year! Love the live entertainment at night and the gorgeous sunsets here. The swim-up bar is fun. The food is great. The property is simply phenomenal. It is a must visit location in Playa Potrero!

This is a beautiful hotel. With friendly service.

However, it and the surrounding neighborhood has been overrun by Caucasian - American tourists.
If you are looking for something authenticly South American, this is not the place.

Its literally just like a piece of America outside of the US.

I had to request latin music be played on Friday when the DJ arrived because he only played some weird techno instrumental music.

The food was definitely my least favorite. It's bland and made to accommodate a caucasian palate. Nothing was seasoned and the ingredients used were imitation. For example I ordered nachos, they had nacho cheese sauce, black bean puree, and some kind of guacamole puree on them. It was literally the worst nachos I've tasted.

The surrounding neighborhood is the same offerings of Indian food, Japanese food, and American food can be found but nothing authentic or good Latin food.

We walked around to several bars that were all playing rock music or the techno instrumentals similar to the hotel.

Lastly this is not a great place if you are a couple or trying to have a peaceful time. There are lots of families at this hotel and there are no rules of conduct for their behavior. Children over run the pool and jump down off the water fall like it's a diving board. I found this particularly distressing because it's dangerous and could very easily end in injury.

My vote unfortunately is NO for this beautiful place.

We so enjoyed our stay. Originally we had planned to do a couple of tours, but once we settled into the Pura Vida environment, reading on the lawn under our shade providing thatched sunscreen, snacking and having drinks and changing for dinner (not required by the property, but required by my wife), these were what we needed to do, to enjoy the essence of Pura Vida.
The people who provided service were wonderful, soon providing tips based on their observations of your interest and taste in foods and cocktails.
Our room was clean comfortable, not frilly, but everything worked including the air conditioning, but we hardly stayed in our room.
The grounds are not massive, but more than adequate during our stay. Never felt crowded.
I'm writing this review because I was thinking about going back to Costa Rica, and Bahia del Sol is where I'm planning to stay, again. Like going home.

The place was fairly nice although I feel attention to detail was lack in ng in certain areas. For instance in our room there was paint splotches in different areas that did not match. The people here we're all very friendly. If you are fine with nearly overbearing heat and not a lot to do in the area, this place may be for you. But I do not feel this is a touristy area at all

2+ weeks in December at the Bahia del Sol was a breathtaking experience. The staff were beyond gracious and kind, they anticipated every need; the location ideal for a quiet and peaceful retreat. We will be back soon!

"Complimentary" Yoga daily as marketed by the hotel was a key factor in booking this vacation - though I found out mid-stay that the owner of Sattva Yoga (separately owned) is not compensated for guest attendance by the hotel. I hope in the future, the owners of Bahia del Sol adjust their ways and realize the benefit of this amenity for guests in a manner that lives up to their marketing.

Torn about not giving five stars. Main problem was that the air conditioning kept randomly making these clicking sounds through the night that were loud enough to wake us. They tried something but it didn't fix it.
Service was great. The room layout is a little strange in that you enter through a sliding glass door that locks with a physical key and you have to lock it again with the key from the inside. We kept forgetting to close the curtains cause typically we keep them open but you have to remember you face what is effectively a corridor, both for other guests and employees.
Food was good but service was typical CR. You just have to not be in a hurry. On the last day they did have pre-ordered food ready at 6:45.
The beach/lawn area is super nice with an assortment of options for seating/lounging/laying out. We preferred the shaded lawn area all the way to the right.
The bar was nice. Ronald from DR and Diego at the front desk were both good sources of information about places to go or avoid.
The hotel is surrounded by some pretty good food options if you have a car (less than ten minutes drive). Walking, there is Castillo and Perlas pretty close.
Finally, the flys and mosquitos in the room were a drag but I'm not sure what can do done about that.

I found the attention excellent since my arrival and my family, the pool area is beautiful and at the foot of the beach it is worth highlighting the tranquility, the food of the exquisite restarant and according to the price without a doubt to go back to go.

This is a very comfortable hotel. The room was terrific. The restaurant is excellent with a fantastic breakfast spread and lunch and dinner offerings are very tasty. And best of all you are right on the ocean. Can't go wrong with a stay here. You will love it.

My husband and I stayed there the middle of December 2017. Great location, beautifully landscaped property right on the beach. The hotel is 35 years old, but everything is clean. Maria, at the front desk, and all the staff was very friendly and helpful. There were restaurants and a market you could walk to from the hotel. There is a sailing school next door and if one was interested, we weren't, they had a yoga class every morning. We stayed in a deluxe rather than a standard room and it was worth the extra. I almost gave it 4 instead of 5 stars for the little things that didn't work, such as the Jacuzzi in our back patio. But really it was so lovely.

One of our favorite places in Playa Potrero. Lovely pool and super friendly staff. I attend yoga here daily when in the area. Absolutely a fantastic place to watch the sunset. Often they have live music in the evenings. Nice swimming pool with wet bar inside.

The restaurant is top-shelf by any measure - special shout out to Jose, a server there that should be running the place someday - the best attitude and personality I've encountered in a long, long time!

We were booked into a deluxe remodeled room (the remodels are lovely - the soaking tub IN the room is a bit weird at first glance, but hey, no judgement! ), but we chose to move to a suite to take advantage of a full kitchen for an 11 day stay. There is a decent market less than a 5 minute walk from the resort. While we liked the more authentic vibe of the suite, the beds and the sitting furniture in the living room could both be upgraded about 10 comfort levels...a massage later and I'm still sore.

The area isn't what I expected when I heard people talk about how beautiful Costa Rica is...the beaches are not really clean (except for the beach at Flamingo, which was pristine and the water blue!) or interesting and the tiny towns around the resort are devoid of any shopping or good restaurants. This is a pretty depressed area. There is talk of a marina being built that will accommodate yachts up to 200', but honestly, unless a lot of businesses invest heavily there isn't much to draw that clientele.

We just returned so the rainy season was starting - wasn't really a problem for us, there was still a lot of sun to be had etc. One thing I would suggest is getting a car vs. a golf cart (we got a cart) - there are areas to visit that are "out of the area" for most carts and forget about most dirt road exploring AND if it rains (and when it rains it POURS) you're housebound. If you really, really want to ride on the beach rent a ATV for a day and have at it.

The people we met were really friendly and hard working. I got the sense though that most are living just one half step away from intense hardship.

Relaxed Beachfront hotel with large suites and fun pool area. It's compact, meaning everything is close by. The beach is black sand with clear and warm ocean water. Rooms have kitchens and an amazing ala-carte breakfast is included. The restaurant is located near the beach and the pool. Our kids loved it, especially the pool. Wifi was patchy but at least it worked.

Went for friend's wedding, non stop disappointments, from 7am construction after being told all.construction would be done before.our parties arrival. The waitstaff was rude and took forever to do anything, considering the prices are exorbident for the area you would think there would be decent service at least.

A nice hotel right on the great beach. Perfect for a short beach holiday after a tour. Staff is friendly, rooms are good and modern, grounds are well maintained and the cocktails are great. The breakfast is very good and the food menu is good with a wide choice. Priced but a little too expensive, but everything in the context.
We liked it very much. Many Thanks! Pura vida!

We haven't even checked out yet, and we're so utterly charmed by this place that we had to leave a review. The grounds are breathtaking and the staff are so friendly and helpful, in particular the restaurant staff. Pablo and Jose, especially, are world-class. Half of my family is Deaf and Jose made a point of learning as much sign language as possible. We caught him taking notes and practicing the signs in his down time. The incredible food felt like an embarrassment of riches, in addition to that. They serve dishes from a variety of cuisines, and everything from perfectly al dente pasta in a rich tomato-eggplant sauce, to a Japanese-inspired tuna tartare, to traditional Costa Rican dishes were delicious.
This place was everything we had hoped for as our first stop in Costa Rica. We hope to be back someday!

It is a very nice place, quiet, you can stay the night or several, there is a day pass $ 25 which are consumables and you can use the pool. The truth is that the hotel is very nice, varied food. At dinner it is open to the public, in the evenings they have happy your (5 / 6pm) 2x1 selected drinks. No doubt every time I can I will come

We stayed 2 weeks at this hotel, excellent service, very respectful and kind staff, we will definitely go back and rent with kitchen and living room. Central place to visit around, incredible beaches, great atmosphere. We went from 7 to 21 July, a dead season for them. We would like the lights to close later at the restaurant and palapa and music to dance on Friday, Saturday in the palapa. I recommend it to all my friends if you go to the region Guanacaste, Potrero and catamaran Zafira, super super, chicken skewers, vegetables, fruits etc. and yet for simple snack owners, different sandwiches. The hotel should recommend this catamaran Zafira, more pleasant than Le Panache, are standing, bad atmosphere.

The most relaxed in front of the sea and in a forest with gigantic trees, excellent gastronomy and drinks, very clean modern and comfortable rooms, many activities to do, entertainment and excursions, snorkeling, fishing, surfing, , , block, or simply enjoy from the pool and its bar.

Although we where not guests at Bahia del Sol the restaurant welcomed us with open arms. The menu was fair with very tasty choices of fish, beef, chicken, pasta and or vegetarian. This open air waterfront place is ideal to watch the sunset. The staff was extremely pleasant.

Nice hotel, perfect to watch the sunset. The hotel doesn't offer water sports though (sea kayaking, paddleboarding, etc.), like other hotels in nearby beaches. The room was nice, although very dark at night; they should have washer/dryer in the family suites.
