The food is terrific. The location at the market place / harbor is very nice. Extremely friendly attentive staff. Is highly recommended

Service in the restaurant does not meet the international standard. The staff is uncoordinated. The apple strudel was served so that the serving served was sprinkled with icing sugar. The result was: icing sugar on the table, on the jacket and on my pants.
The men's room should not have been checked for a long time - paper to dry hands when overflowing trash, small puddles of water etc.

As pure restaurant visitors, we liked the ambience and the small but fine selection of food and drinks. Both were very tasty and served relatively quickly. The toilets are clean and modern.
Our small personal drawback: our waiter seemed a bit cool, personally I lacked the warmth.

Fantastic location right on the lake, good food - is also popular with the locals.
We felt very comfortable in the restaurant.

Great ambience right on the lake. Very friendly staff. Unfortunately the Sachertorte was too greasy.

Am editing a mean and judgemental post. On reflection, I have a memorable story to tell. I think some of the staff were clearly dedicated, the location is very special, most of the produce was fresh. I thought the soup, dressings and chicken need a lot more love.

Nice atmosphere, nice view, the kitchen is good home-style. Menu could be a bit more varied.

Ambience rustic. Old Venerable House. Operation a bit overwhelmed. Great view of the lake.

A few days later, however, I ate a Wiener Schnitzel. Unfortunately not the best, but the most expensive in town!

I would rather recommend Spiesberger in the Kirchengasse across the street. In addition to competent wine advice, there is also a delicious side salad with Wiener Schnitzel, which is fried in clarified butter and is wonderfully souffled !! And all of this included in the price!
Unfortunately, when you go to Schwan, you eat extra for a salad and the less tasty schnitzel costs 25% more.

Service under any criticism. (Waiters) unfriendly and have no idea about serving.

The allergens are labeled incorrectly on the menu and the waiter was totally rude. The food was good in the end but all in all an annoying experience. Especially if you have intolerances this restaurant is not recommended!

Goes so ...
80s furniture in the room. Allegedly wellness room with water bed, but no trace of it ... the rooms are small and uncomfortably furnished ... windows dirty and with spider web in corners ... OmG ... not recommended! For 170 euros?!? !! Is this a very, very bad price-performance ratio! This room costs 80 in an inn! Euros ... there is no question of the modern room with an open bathroom. I'm disappointed...

I am probably a little biased, since I sat with my grandfather at the family table as a child, had many family celebrations here and finally my wedding.
I like it here - the rooms are nice, the food has never disappointed me and the view still thrills after all these years.
I will definitely be a guest here often!

Hotel 4 * with tradition in the center of Gmunden overlooking the lake. Room modernly furnished, the restaurant belongs to the top in the city.
Breakfast okay, sitting on the terrace with beautiful scenery. Great satisfaction, I recommend.

- no air condition, sommertime no parking at the hotel, only 200m away. eur170/night is for me slightly overpriced. 120-140 range i would say.

+ restaurant had a lot negative comments. price is not that high. winelist is good. dine for two with wine is 100eur. so what? Pavel and Viktor were at our service every time.

An old-established hotel with a very good location right on the Traunsee, the food you can on the Traunsee the swans to look. Prices are justified in the high-end segment but everything is freshly cooked another plus is the friendly and helpful staff. A tip for a visit to Gmunden

The Schnitzel from the restaurant tastes wonderful. Great view of the lake is impressive.

My rating for the restaurant only:
Atmosphere alone is nice and good but the food was really not ok for the price, no pig, lettuce to turkey strip ratio ridiculous, meat tough, sauces very neutral, little spiciness, curry even for Central European standards bland, chocolate cake absolutely ridiculous and out of place Freezer with crystals inside. Unfortunately was my last time there, the food would be at least cheap, there might be a second attempt ... So please do not misunderstand, even with this location would be justified in the food maximum of half the price, then the criticism would be much better.

lunch menu was ok with reasonble price. The bread is crispy and tasty. If it is less salty, I would like it more.

Food has always been good, service unfortunately not .. if you're not exactly a local or a "celebrity", one of the host people rather "overlooked", to say the least!
Although over 2 years ago..hab lived in Gmunden for a few years, I always went to rather quiet times ...

Stayed for one night over the weekend, so I cannot really say much. Pretty reasonable hotel with amazing views of the lake and mountains. Rooms have brand new and modern bathrooms.
Everything else is average - rooms, service, breakfast, price - for a hotel of this class. Nothing to be excited about

Directly on the main square with a nice view over lake Traunsee.

I made a stop here on my bike tour through the Salzkammergut. Check-in was extremely friendly, a space in the bike room was quickly organized. The rooms are very tidy and clean, they must have been renovated, the best of the old house is being brought out. The location right on the lake promenade is of course a dream.

The service in the restaurant was good, the food was okay, it was a bit too much like a hotel for me (soup came before the drinks, fried potatoes without bacon and onions, mixed salad partly from the glass). There is nothing wrong with that, but the finishing touches were missing.

At breakfast everything was fine again, the selection was large and good.

Overall, a very good hotel that I would happily recommend.

Yesterday with friends again been guest in the swan. In addition to a really excellent 3-course menu, we enjoyed the view from the newly converted restaurant area on the lake. Congratulations to the thoughtful and very tasteful remodeling. To mention is also the excellent service. Thank you for a wonderful evening, we'll be back soon.

Friendly staff, comfortably furnished in the old style, overlooking the lake. House and extended in order. Apple strudel too sweet and ice cream tasted old.

As a regular guest, I have been able to count myself among the most satisfied guests in this house for more than fifty years. A well-recommended feel-good place on the beach of the Traunsee.
