Secrets Wild Orchid & St. James Montego Bay, Jamaica Review

Rooms were great, staff was really friendly and the food was good! Went with my girlfriend and we wished we stayed longer. Get up early and claim your spot on the beach or by the pool. Seats go quickly. We loved Bordeaux for dinner. Great spots to have great views of the ocean. Breakfast buffet was great and the here chicken cart for lunch was great. Our favorite lunch spot was Oceana. There was always entertainment going on too. Themes every night and various activities throughout the day.

Absolutely awful!!!!! It was really very bad experience!!! At first personal! They not keep attention on you at all, even they can not look on you and answear like they are tired from you and questions, maybe only 3 persons was smiling all others not really. In restaurant not possible to eat, quality of food absolutely bad, you need to wait all the time a free table, only in Mexican restaurant always have free tables. Not possible to swim almost never, because all the time purple flag about dangerous fish or water, also beaches are really small, never see like this before. Coffe in coffee bar really bad. Also we got bad excursion from hotel. It was excursion around, to visit city and to see how live people and lunch after. And for 70 you will see main square, chirch and one home on the top with cat and chicken and lunch with food not really taste. Maybe will be interesting to stay in this hotel people 18-20 years old.

The beaches were stunning and the resort kept up maintenance on then to ensure the sand didn't get overwhelmed with seaweed. The service was amazing, the staff was friendly and always made sure to check I had everything I needed. Food and drinks were always readily available if I needed them.

We were very excited to visit Secrets Wild Orchid based on reviews and pictures. The resort is beautiful and offers quite a bit to do, however, the staff left much to be desired. Immediately upon our arrival we were asked to attend a breakfast so they could sell us future trips. After my spouse made it clear we were on vacation and didn t want to be on a schedule, they tried to make us feel guilty about that. Additionally, even after expressing we didn t want to attend the sales events they called us the next morning and woke us up to see if we wanted to attend and again the following day. The next day we wanted to visit a popular jerk chicken restaurant and the concierge questioned us and requested that we just eat the jerk chicken on site. After confirming that we wanted to go regardless of cab fair cost, they finally obliged us. The following day my spouse approached the concierge and shared how we were feeling-we were on vacation and if we wanted to do something we should be able to without being questioned and bothered to attend sales events. Overall, you expect a resort like this to be more guest focused, however the staff made it feel like they were doing us favors rather than doing their jobs at the resort. We did not ask for anything extra and the experience actually detoured us from wanting to do any excursions or interact with concierge staff. We still have 2 more days left here and if it wasn t so costly we would have probably headed home.

There was too many mosquitoes in our room.
My wife complained several times and nothing was done.
She had blisters all over her arms.
This is our second visit and we had no such experience the first time.
Don't think she wants to come back

In February my husband and I visited for our anniversary with our brothers and their wives. We had such a great time. So much so that tomorrow our son Steven Cagle and his new bride will arrive for their honeymoon! I am sure they will be shown the same good time we had! Thanks Secrets Wild Orchid and take good care of them!

Visited this resort when I stayed next door to the Breathless Resort. The beaches were connected and they were beautiful we went with a group of six guys for a bachelor party and it was fantastic.

9 restaurants, numerous bars, access to 3 other resorts, and adults only - YES!

The hotel, staff, grounds were great. One thing I will warn you about - when you check in they will try to sell you on getting free credits, tours, etc BUT you have to give up a day to be walked through a "presentation". They aren't very clear about this, the salesmanship is crazy, 1 person = several car salesmans. You're welcome to do it, but we didn't expect this and really didn't like the salesy stuff.

The resort has daily activities, they will take you off the ground on bike tours. If you want to lounge all day, get up early. I was up at 7am and would look out the balcony to find most of the good chairs were already reserved. It's kind of rude seeing there are enough chairs to go around, but hey to each their own.

One thing I did notice was they don't have all day cafes, in case you miss breakfast / lunch, you can walk around and find some snacks, but not a cafe to sit at. It's also one of the few resorts that has top shelf liquor, and by top shelf I mean Black Label.

Looking for the getaway - I would recommend, and hope to go back.

My husband and I enjoyed our honeymoon at this resort and we loved everything about it! Clean, great staff and very relaxing.

My wife and I married here in 2013 and stayed one week at this resort! The ceremony and accommodations were amazing! The service was stellar and everyone was so friendly and attentive to all of our needs! We are looking forward to returning "home" one day!

Wonderful hotel! Rooms are spacious with great beds and rain shower/jacuzzi. Staff was friendly - especially in the numerous bars and a la carte restaurants. Food was good, we ate surprisingly different each day, and the plates were beautifully served. We never had to wait to be seated. The pools and beaches offer a lot of choice and variety as the days go by.

Going to Montego Bay is about 60 USD for taxis inside the hotel, and 35 USD outside. It takes 10 min to get there.

Amazing resort. Great views of the mountain side and bay with clear water and soft beaches. Great amount of wildlife in the water around resort, which is on a private peninsula. With a short walk around resort you can see fish, crabs, birds, jellyfish, and starfish. Breakfast buffet was average however the rest of the meals and al a carte services were incredible. Room service is always available and free of charge which was a great help for late nights. Resort has many exotic carts that move periodically around resort such as coconut and jerk chicken. Resort also has many activities to keep you busy, definitely recommend to anyone looking for an all around great all inclusive.

My experience at Secrets in general has been good. I have been there three summers in a row. Pros: the beach and drinks are good. Lots of activities that are free each day. Staff are very friendly and are usually helpful. Food is good but the quality has gone down a bit I must admit. The club is also quite good so is the entertainment they have at night and the night market. Overall, secrets is a great place to have your vacay hands down. It is an easy choice.

The spa however needs a lot of improvement. I went there and had to flag someone down to get in to use the waters ,which requires a staff person to get in. Once I got someone s attention a man walked me through the spa and told me when to take off my robe to use the sauna, then walked me over to the cold water area and so on. All of that is unnecessary. Guests should be given a pass, then a brief overview of the facility and then be given space to move freely and an attendant to come in when it is time for a treatment. I didn t feel comfortable(I felt monitored) and I had to wait too long to be let in to use the waters and I have been to a lot of spas. Also, having all male attendants in the waters area is not really a good idea. Not sure if that is a regular thing but it was only male attendants in that area when I had my appointment.
It s a great facility but it could use some improvement on the waters side. The ladies in the changing room were great.

If I could leave no stars I would. The cleanliness of our room was better than expected. They took no responsibility for mistakes that were obviously there fault. Paid no attention to you after check-in. All they want is to sell you a buy in to all the properties.

My husband and I stayed in the Preferred Club Honeymoon suite last December for our honeymoon, and what an amazing experience! From the moment we walked in the doors, the staff was courteous & helpful. We had 2 butlers during our stay, Petrona & Jeffrey. They were both amazing, and assisted us in anything we needed. Including restocking our mini bar at anytime. Every day that we returned to our room, there was a hot bath drawn, and flower petals scattered. Along with a fruit or cheese plate. It was extremely relaxing. Pretty decent selection of food & bars to choose from. Night club was lots of fun too. Only downside to the location of this resort is the distance to many of the popular excursions. Other than that, it was well worth the money & this vacation will be one to remember for a lifetime.

A few months ago these two hotels have a sister hotel and now they are three Hotels in one.
These Hotels are not for children, 5 stars, very elegant, and is located im Montego Bay .

I am still at Secrets Wild Orchid, my husband and I came here for our anniversary. We had to wait 2 hours after we arrived, they asked for our passports, asked me to email our confirmation on our length of stay to them. Why wouldn't they have all that? Three different couples who arrived after us were taken to their rooms before us.
They say they stock the mini bar/snacks tray everyday, they don't. We had to ask for more coffee, they don't restock the sugars, creamers etc. I just called the front desk and no answer. There is a speaker for the TV by the bathrooms and showers, have no idea how to turn it off.
Also I finally had to ask my Butler to handle the situation in regards to trying to "sell" a time share (maybe) all I know is they would not take no for an answer in regards to meeting for breakfast. This is supposed to be just a vacation. It's not a bad place however for what we spent, so not worth it! Still here, came back to our room today card wouldn't work. A maintenance man let us in but we have to leave the door propped open (no idea why). Someone came to fix it but took the handle apart and said he would be back. It's been 2 1/2 hours now. We cannot leave our room so here we sit.

One of the best vacation resorts I've ever stayed at! Anything you want, any time you want it, Secrets staff goes above and beyond to make you feel like you're a king or queen at their home. The resort is super clean and well kept. The food was amazing. We tried a different resturant every night and there was not one disappointment. I did a lot of research before booking and im glad I did. We went on sereval excursions and our bus had to pick up guess at other resorts. We noticed a big difference of quality. After speak to the other resorts guess they were blown away with the treatment we received at Secrets. If your looking for an all adults resort with top notch service, dont even think about it and book at this resort!

Clean, Nice Garden like setting ..I wondered what the bathroom close to where I was posted was locked and the cleaner was inside not answering ..even the guy mopping the floor got no answer ..She maybe sleeping inside

Beautiful resort, we stayed next door at Secrets, but got to walk in an through this resort. Absolutely amazing.

I would recommend this to anyone going to Jamaica. The staff is professional and helpful. There are plenty of entertainment and stuff to do. They helped book your excursions and our COVID test back to the US. drinks and food are unlimited as well.

Adults only, beautiful resort. Amazing food and amenities. Definitely recommend trying this one.

Magnificent resort, offers a variety of activities, restaurants, swimming pools and access to private beaches, with beautiful gardens for walking and very romantic.

If you are looking at Secrets Wild Orchid in Jamaica for a destination wedding, you may want to reconsider. Unless they change the wedding planners (Shanelle Baker in particular) , I would look elsewhere. The staff is unorganized, untrustworthy, incompetent, and do NOT take responsibility when things go wrong. I know everything will not go smoothly, but when guests are waiting on the beach in direct sunlight with high humidity, and no breeze at 4 pm, that is miserable enough, but when they are tortured for another 30 minutes unnecessarily there is no excuse. Anxiety levels were rising as the bridal party, bride, and parents of bride waited as told in the hotel room. Shanelle was to come and get us. As 4pm came and went, stress was increasing. After calling 3 times we were told to go to the lobby. Shanelle took us to a golf cart that only fit 5 people. The other 5 had to walk. And it was quite far at St. James. On the way the golf cart broke down so we had an even smaller one. As we crammed in my husband hit his head. It was a s**t show. My hubby asked why she was so late. Shanelle rambled on incoherently about workers being late and that she told the bride (S). Not true. The dance floor would be late. So the cocktail hour was cut short and the band was too. So for an hour of pay we received a half hour. The ceremony was beautiful but a few requests from S were overlooked or forgotton. S. requested to have an empty chair with a message to honor loved ones who have passed. That was not done until the reception where Shanelle placed it on a chair next to me at my table. REALLY??? I had her move it where it could be seen and told her it should have been set up at the ceremony. She looked at me like I had 3 eyes. A short time later Shanelle snuck up behind me and rammed a wrist corsage on my wrist so hard it hurt. They were to be given to us before the ceremony. Also S. ordered 4 of them but received only 2. Not acceptable. A year and a half ago S. contacted Shanelle with wishes of having both the ceremony and reception on the beach. (I mean why else would you go to all this trouble? ) Shanelle said there was time, but when the time came the beach for the reception was taken so it had to be held on the grass. ( by this time S. Had already a down payment of $7500.00 ) Disappointment and sadness are understatements. The location was horrible when the food came out. The flies came out in droves. We were constantly swatting at the flies in between bites of food. A nightmare. But when the food left the flies left. When i confronted Shanelle Baker with the disappointments and inexcusable wrongs, her reply was "well i heard it looked like everyone had a good time. " Really?? What else could we do?? Sit around crying? We made the best of it. Thank God the D.J. was awesome. We danced the night away. We trusted Shanelle Baker. We put all of our faith in her. She reassured us all will go well and not to worry. She failed miserably. She took no responsibility for anything. She blamed the set up people and everything inbetween. A wedding planners job is to make sure the bride's and grooms wishes are realized. That did NOT happen. Shanelle failed at her job. She failed the bride and groom. She also said my daughter owed $7500.00. It was already paid. And as S. And her hubby were checking out they said they owed $7500.00again!!!! What the hell???!! A total of over $16,000.00 for the wedding alone was paid. There were 45 people who attended where the majority stayed 7 nights. That's a lot of money being spent and that the resort is making. Nothing less than perfection is expected. There was another wedding held where the mother of the bride said they also were very disappointed in how things went. So what does that tell you? Don't say you weren't warned.

Rooms are really nice. The employees are very friendly. Plenty of choices for food. Had an excellent spa facial. Views are breathtaking.

My boyfriend and I had the best week at this resort. It felt nicely secluded and private. The rooms were spacious and felt luxurious - we had a king sized bed and a jetted tub which was great. The pool was our favorite place to be, particularly the swim-up bar side. Drinks were always strong and delicious anywhere in the resort - I recommend trying a Dirty Banana. The food for lunchtime was so-so, but the dinner options never disappointed (the French restaurant was our favorite). The best part about the trip was probably the staff - they truly make you feel welcome and at home, always greeting you with a smile and friendly conversation as if you were a friend. They did a great job keeping guests entertained and lively, and kept a strong community feel among the guests, too. We had an absolutely wonderful experience from the time we checked in to the time the airport shuttle picked us up to go home. Can't wait to go back!

Beautiful grounds and rooms. Food and drinks were OK. Not at all impressed with the bartenders. Most of them were short and rude. Most of the other resort staff were very friendly. Not sure if I'll come back or try out Sandals next

One of the most breathtaking moments as I walk on to the property,there are some spectacular views of the beach and surrounding landscapes.

I stayed at this resort in 2017 with my husband. Had no issues; amenities were great, staff was super nice and quick, but the food was just alright.

This time I stayed for a trip with coworkers. The staff was very delayed with every request from additional towels, to answering the phone, and the wait time for food once seated. My second day here, I informed the concierge that my phone was broken, no one has fixed it and I m here for 5 days.

Housekeeping doesn t clean the shower or the toilet I know because there is still sand in it from when I used both. Additionally, depending upon who you ask a question, you ll most often get different answers.

The positive things were the extremely nice bell staff and the spa treatments. They take your bags to your room promptly, offer great conversation, and give you information about the resort and Jamaica. My favorites were Honiff, Ronvey, and Kevaughn.

The spa was relaxing but can feel rushed if you want to use the amenities before your massage. Terreca gave me an awesome massage and was very kind.

Jamaica is a great place to visit but put Secrets Wild on your Plan B list.
