While I like the place itself, driving to the new location requires spending a lot of time in some unfriendly neighborhoods. The place itself also isn't in the best of areas.
The old location was in a little better area, I didn't spend 20-30 minutes driving through unfriendly neighborhoods to get to it at least.
Wouldn't recommend going in the dark. I went twice when it was dark, the first time there was a drug deal on the further side of the parking lot. Second time, a group of people just walking around the parking lot in the dark with seemingly no legitimate reason to be there.
Again, the place itself is great, just the area is not.

I love this crazy store! Is you need something, it's bound to be here. Yarn, leather scraps, old sewing machines, test tubes, fabric, pill bottles, wood scraps, plastic bins, vinyl sheets, wine corks, buttons, beads, paper, crayons, markers, WHATEVER! There is all kinds of stuff in here. The staff is really friendly and helpful, and they hold classes on various crafts.

Just discovered this place. It is amazing for picking. They had awesome science equipment like test tubes and beakers of all shapes and sizes, bolts of cloth and leather for projects, books, wrapping paper, random bits and pieces, etc. We had a blast in here and found all kinds of fun things. If you need some off the wall stuff for a project that's super cheap, this place is a good one to start your search in.

I love this place! I went here wanting supplies for making dresses. For $2.50 I can get all the things I need for a dress. They also have a really cool section of science supplies like beakers and test tubes and things. I bought a working microscope for $7. There's also a huge parts area for things like hinges, and door knobs, and wood stuff. Pretty much everything I need to make almost anything is here and super duper cheap.

Great fun, interesting and unusual finds and waaay too much to see in an hour. Plan on taking time to do more than scan over each area and you can expect to find things to treasure or just good craft supplies.

There are currently two buildings used by the scrap exchange next to each other. One has for sale items and the other has for sale supplies. With a large variety of goods in both stores it is easy to find what you need.

Great place to find very unique items for creative projects. Metal, wood, glass, paper, cloth, and so much random stuff that always seems to be different each time I return. The scrap Exchange is loosely organized into areas that breeds ingenuity and creativity that has expanded my projects from cool to awesome.

Durham's premier place for recycled stuff to power the imagination. They also offer classes in sewing, knitting and many other skills. I rarely escape without something unexpected. Recent purchases: a slightly used bicycle seat for $2, an ancient National Geographic magazine for $1, a neat basket for gathering mushrooms or storing paper for $3.

The Scrap Exchange has become my favorite shopping place, everything in sewing is too cheap, not to mention the rest of the things I find in the other sections. If you want to save a lot of money buying what you want, come to this magical place.

This place is a dream come true for crafty and creative types. It's like I found the stashbuster/yard sale of a thousand creators all at once. It's overwhelming in the best way, I want everything but have to pace myself. I already have plans to go back and do a more thorough search when I have more time. Love it!

It's a really good place to bring old stuff for other people to reuse. It has fabric, broken jewelry, buttons, clothes, an art gallery, mystery bags and more. There's also a thrift store that has dolls, books, toys and more stuff. The employees are really nice and didn't mind when I took a minute to find enough money. It's really interestingly decorated and colorful.

Poor Covid 19 procedures. Customers walking through the store without masks. Management does not care. You never even approached these people, instead explained to me the reasons they could not be wearing a mask. I have looked at the covid 19 requirements from the City, and the recommendations from the State. No one makes an exemption for anyone not to wear a mask. Period.

Please take the time to read the rules and regulations surrounding wearing masks, and your responsibility as a business owner to support this need, and adhere. This is not funny as your maskless customer thought.

It's a great store if you like to go to find treasures. I love the variety of crafts finders. The personel is really nice all the time. Also you can set up visits to got your kids and play with some reclycled materials. Love this place! It's sad that is far from home so I can only 3 to 4 times a year.
