Certainly one of the best restaurants in Oldenburg. We were also offered a vegetarian something for a group without any problems. Good wine selection and competent advice. Friendly service. Cozy ambience.

Four of us had a very cozy evening with delicious food and great wine. The service was excellent, a very reasonable price-performance ratio, we will gladly come back.
Very tasty food for a reasonable price in a nice setting! The reservation and the reception were very friendly - only the service left a lot to be desired: our drinks were forgotten twice and only came after 10 minutes even after a reminder. The sugar for the cappuccino no longer came, we had to get it ourselves. Since the restaurant was not fully occupied, there is one point deduction for the service!
Very, very tasty food. We were there with 8 people and no one had anything wrong with the food. The service was perfect too. In addition, the building is also very nice and well prepared. In other words, there is actually no criticism.
Delicious. Friendly service, exceptional location and a great atmosphere. The food tasted very good and the wine was excellent. I can say the same about dessert.
We must have had a bad day ... Unfortunately, I cannot share the good reviews. My husband's meal (Wiener Schnitzel) was really good, but I had a fillet of beef and that was unfortunately anything but good, the meat was unfortunately very tough and had hardly any taste. The service brought us an aperitif, which was also very tasty, but then we weren't asked for drinks again, unfortunately not whether it tasted good either, so maybe something could have been changed. So we sat at the table with empty glasses for half of the meal and would have loved to have had something else. In the end, of course, we said we expected a lot more. The lady and a gentleman from the service were really very uncomfortable, they apologized several times and offered a dessert or coffee on the house, but we just wanted to pay and leave. The restaurant was very well attended that day. The chef was unfortunately very irritated because a mega long receipt came into the kitchen, his wife was then ordered into the kitchen and was able to pick up a mega announcement from the chef (probably her husband). Not so nice when the guests notice. So unfortunately not a nice visit for us. But we will definitely try again to convince ourselves otherwise :-)
Brilliantly good and perfectly cooked meat. Delicious chanterelle cream soup in advance. Sauces seasoned very fine with great taste. Again and again we will be drawn there.
Although we had not reserved a table, we were treated very courteous, within a few seconds a suitable table was found for us. The choice of the menu is really remarkable and adequate, also the coffee and the rich beverage selection can be seen. Here, especially the exquisite-delicious lobster soup should be mentioned, which is highly recommended.
Here we come back gladly! Also a praise the nice, sympathetic waiter, the service is simply unbeatable!
New Year's menu 2017/18 - the service was really good. BUT ... every course of the menu was tasteless. The individual courses were also not as described on the menu card. And the top was the dessert. All four dessert dishes were arranged as if the cook wanted to finish work. Simply loveless !!! Can you understand on New Year's Eve? We were four people, everyone was very disappointed, the price-performance ratio was not right at all. According to yesterday's experience, expensive is not always good. We also missed the little apology, because we told the chef, who probably didn't cook yesterday, that we are very disappointed. Too bad not soon again!
Good restaurant in Oldenburg. The chicken with fries are very good, delicious and the wines are good, for the restaurant a little expensive but we complain about it was a great day in the small town
Beautiful case, where we came for a glass of wine and possibly dinner. We hesitated between 2 wines, after which the bartender suggested to taste them first. Top, but actually also normal for wines from E8 and 8.50 per glass. It turned out to be dinner time for the staff, and after our bartender had checked if we were still ok, he went for dinner. Until there: great! Then a colleague comes and asks, while my glass still contains a good sip, and my friend's was still a third full, if she would refill. Somewhat surprised we looked at each other (we were the only ones at the bar), but I agreed anyway because it was a delicious wine. To our surprise, she filled the glass right up to the mark, instead of above it because there was still a good sip in it before she added it. She asked if she would give the remainder to my friend, but he motioned for me to do so. She didn't, so I commented that my glass still had capacity before she topped up. With a frugal face she poured and then the bottom that remained in the bottle went into the glass container! For a wine of E8 per glass I think this is outrageous! At checkout, the bartender of reception also hinted at a tip, on which we did not know how soon to leave (Mon 22/10/2018).
Awesome! The food is amazing. An absolute highlight, but it has its price. The atmosphere and ambience are great. The wine list second to none! The perfect pleasure!
The restaurant is top class and one of the two best restaurants in town. The choice of dishes is varied and the wines are well put together. The classic vinotheque furnishings are also convincing. There are lots of nice little tables. When the restaurant is full it can get a little tight. The dishes themselves taste great and all kinds of soups and sauces are excellent. If you want to treat yourself to an evening away from the standard, this is the right place for you.
For me THE Restaurant Oldenburgs if I want to treat my palate to fine cuisine. As a bonus, you can expect a soulfully furnished treasure from past days with end grain parquet and a service that is sometimes too researchy. I still enjoyed every night here.
Upscale cuisine at a slightly higher prices, but value for money, plus a good selection of wines. Ordinary portions, short wait, friendly service. What more do you want.
For pleasant conversations in a nice atmosphere as well as good food I can recommend "Schmitz" to everybody, as we say here in Oldenburg. I've never been disappointed here and would gladly recommend the filet steak.
Was there for the first time and felt comfortable right away, the attitude is very friendly and the food as it should be, they left a positive impression, I will definitely go there more often.
A great restaurant. Very high quality food and a nice staff at a good price-performance ratio. My tip is the spaghetti with fresh truffles. Really excellent.
Very good shop that offers good upscale food fast and sesional. In addition, there is a very good wine selection and professional bar service, only to be recommended
Unfortunately the food did not convince us. The steak did not have the desired quality. The prices are simply too high in relation to the performance. There is no reaction to criticism on site. Too bad, was the only reaction of the service. Restaurant is too loud.
The visit to this place was unfortunately disappointing. External presentation and pricing raised the expectation of refined taste. Unfortunately, the wines and dishes that were chosen were therefore only fairly average. In terms of price and especially performance ratio, the town offers some significantly better alternatives.
Attentive, creative, pleasant ambience, dishes were successful and very tasty, the carpaccio had too much sauce and parmesan, the rest was perfect. Nice evening, thank you very much.
I can only say "excellent". I was there with my company for the Christmas party. The food was very tasty. The spring rolls from the oldenburg duck - a poem! Then a Ribeye Steak with beans wrapped in bacon, braised onions and fries - perfect medium rare. And a dessert, a creme bruelee, hmmmm. But the insider tip: the previously served Ciabatta with an excellent olive oil from Portugal - Oliveira Ramos. Olive oil on the plate, a little fleur of sel and pepper, as needed, and then dunked - a real delicacy! Very recommendable.
Chic restaurant with friendly staff who always tried to provide the guest. Good bourgeois cuisine, unfortunately rare to find in Oldenburg. Too bad that the dishes did not elicit any special taste sensations, which really makes good restaurants. Likewise, the really friendly staff lacks a bit of true service professionalism. Nevertheless, a very good address for Oldenburg !!
I would like to place my rating of the restaurant Michael Schmitz on the 1st floor of the Leffers fashion house here because there is apparently no additional location for the restaurant on Google Maps, which you can click and then rate, next to the Leffers fashion house. There have been renovations to the old Leffers restaurant, including fire protection, which are intended to make the interior of the restaurant appear more contemporary, modern and simply younger and a bit more hip. The round armchairs from the 1950s are clearly retro in design and are certainly intended for younger guests with a healthy spine; for somewhat older customers with an affected spine, this is more of a nostalgic value. The furniture looks a bit puristic-functional without unnecessary frills in the spirit of the Bauhaus style. On the other hand, there are still immaculate white blankets on the tables that are intended for the consumption of dishes, and we liked this very much because a certain atmosphere was created, thanks for that. You can watch the busy young cooks at work, if you like; How the chefs feel about it may be left open, especially when it comes to creative culinary art. A Leonardo might not have liked it very much if he could have been constantly looked at at work. The restaurant staff seems to be relatively tight. The young women run back and forth, especially at peak times, and whether they can take a breath in between remains a mystery. Anyway, despite all the stress, they remain positive, very friendly, courteous and professional, understandably you only have to wait a little. The food portions are tasty, but rather small. Anyone who would like to sip a few mouth-watering bites is in good hands at the Schmitz. One should also share these dishes with one another; this will work even if you are not hungry for bears. For adult men, the portions may not be enough to fill you up. The respective dish of the day is tasty and reasonably priced, we were disappointed with the Wiener Schnitzel for EUR 20.90 and consider the dish overpriced. The hamburger, on the other hand, can be measured against good American hamburgers, the bun was fresh and crisp, the ingredients were the same, and the beef was cooked to the point. We considered the portion sizes for the fresh pasta and the spicy chicken to be too tight. The price-performance ratio in the Schmitz is designed in such a way that proud prices are charged for smaller, culinary beefed dishes. For a young, urban, wealthy audience this may be acceptable and a negligible size; however, for many people who need to do some math, the former Leffers restaurant presented a better offer.
Very excellent imaginative card. Great food and great wine. The staff is courteous and experienced - the boss is very friendly. The price level is high but in any case appropriate.
I haven't been so happy about going to a restaurant for a long time. The best restaurant that I have met in Oldenburg to date.
One of the best restaurants in Oldenburg. Outside and inside, it is very attractively designed, but still not fancy. Excellent service, very good cuisine! Make a reservation.
Delicious food and something for everyone. The prices are perfectly ok for the quality. Ambience is very nice and the service very good and accommodating. I can only recommend it. Definitely worth a visit.
Super central event location in the former boys' school. Friendly staff, good equipment for meetings, convenient connection to the brasserie. Partly floors and murals deserve a refresh - everything else is perfect!
Expensive, and frankly, okay. The menu is pretty extensive, including truffle pizza that has so much truffle on it, it made us wonder what quality of truffles they serve. The atmosphere is pretty dark and moody, but the service is pretty nice, so there's that. The burger was above average, but there isn't much more to say about it. The schnitzel is nothing special but the tartar was very good. Would go again, because it's the best restaurant around, but would make a better menu choice.
