Great place to see, amazing history and beautiful architecture. Entrance is very overpriced. Maybe get the Istanbul museum card and you will save a couple of tenners but the place is still worth seeing

Aya Sofya is an astonishing building, but for one of the top ten 'must see' in the world I was expecting a bit more inside. I got the feeling that the people could take a better care of the building inside and have much more information about the centuries of history (you probably have that information if you pay for a guide). But overall I enjoyed visiting it ;)
It is a very impressive piece of architecture and history. I have read that it is one of world wonders. You can see how the Islamic took over the Christians and how they have destroyed /covered the Christians decorations with islamic ones. We had luck and stayed only for 5 mins in the queue to enter, so go visit in the morning.
No wonder why this attraction ranks #1 for visitors to Istanbul. The building which was considered the largest cathedral in the world for nearly 1000 years is not to be missed.
Although one of the most famous attractions in Istanbul, it didnt appeal to us. There is frankly not much to see apart from the main hallway which is impressive in size and architecture, there is a stair at the side to climb up and take in an ariel view of the same hall. We planned for 2 to 3 hours but could hardly spend an hour here.
Great religious place, old ancient history, tourist friendly with a lot of english informations / descriptions. Tourist interpreter tools also available for hire. Many public transport available.
Considering that it's construction predates in one thousand years the building of the neighbor Sultanahmet mosque, and that the design of the latter was based on the former, the inside reflects perfectly the difference between what was initially a christian church and what it is a mosque. The darkness and the earthly colours of the Hagia Sophia contrasts perfectly with the lightness and peacefulness of the Sultanahmet mosque. I dare to say that one couldn't exist without the other and having both a short walk from each other is simply amazing...
Now after government makes this as a mosque.. More quite, people usually comes to praying here. No need to pay 70 TL anymore guys.. All is free.. Blue Mosque was very empty, everybody's want praying in hagia sophia. Sultan Ahmed I was built for praying, He respected the Hagia Sofia as a church before and an monument and historical place for all... Let's pray at real mosque then... You still could pray Jumat at Hagia Sofia, but praying 5times you could use Blue mosque
The Hagia Sophia, whose name means holy wisdom, is a domed monument originally built as a cathedral in Constantinople (now Istanbul, Turkey) in the sixth century. Later it became a museum and recently a mosque. Worth to visit, when you come to Istanbul
You need to wait for a looong time to go inside. You have to pay 72 lira. If you are not in love of visiting this kind of place then it is not recommended.
What a beauty. An artistic site. Was amazed to see the grand architecture. A piece of art, extremely beautiful and majestic. Tourists from all over the world were there to witness the beautiful site. It was an experience of its own. The team on duty to assist the tourists were very helpful.
A remarkable sight, a must if you visit Istanbul. It is undergoing renovation so some parts may be off limits and out of view. You can enter with Museum Pass to skip the line.
Wonderful and Historical Place to Visit. Is is few step far from Blue Masjid and Main Tram Station at Istanbul Main City. Enterenc Ticket Cost is 60 Lyra.
Really interesting place, the interior had some scaffolds but it's full of Islam history there. The queue is kind of slow, you'd better arrive early in the morning
Before you could only enter Aya Sophia when you bought a museum ticket but this all changed in July 2020 when they opened it as an actual mosque where people can pray.
It is hard to describe, but I really adore this place. I went 3 times in a week just to admire the fantastic and authentic interior, it just left me speechless every single time.
But please, respect the rules and people who pray. I saw many people just going inside with shoes on or taking off their head cover when in the mosque, be respectful or don't even bother coming here.
What can be said about the Hagia Sophia that has not already been said? The monument is a testament to Byzantine engineering and truly a spectacle. The sheer size, scale, and intricacies that make up the place will leave you short of words, even if you seen it more than once.
This was probably my favorite thing in Istanbul. Such beautiful architecture, lots of interesting history. Its interesting to see the combination of the different religions. A must see in Istanbul.
Hagia Sophia is one of the most gorgeous and magnificent churches in the world, but its splendor and grandeur would be even more unparalleled if the current owners of the church thought about preserving the architectural masterpiece for future generations.
Yesterday I visited Hagia Sophia when it was functioning as a mosque, and I was pretty disappointed as most parts of the building were closed to visitors. There is only accessible place and it's just a space for prayer. All mosaics were covered , although prayer time was over. Honestly I was lucky to visit Hagia Sophia several times before, when it was a museum. I love this incredible place, but after yesterday experience I prefer HS to remain a museum. It's better to pay a museum fee with access to all historically important parts of the building, than just spend time waiting for entrance for nothing.
Historic and multi-religious site over a long period. Exclusive mosaics and fixtures available to view that are more than 1000 years old. From Christianity to Islam this brilliant example of religious power of a building is simply magnificent. The site is amazingly strong crusted and engineered with material sourced as well as stolen from different parts of the globe. Built over an extremely short time frame due to stealing a major parts of the structure from other sites. Recommended!!!
