Good location, pleasant employees, clean rooms, resort fees and taxes r kind of brutal compared to some other "resorts" but was doable. Room checks for deposit take forever.

Security a little uptight but for the most part a nice establishment.
It was great for the price. Close to other things. Clean pool. The staff was very friendly, and there was a large selection of slots.
I hate this place . Smells , parking sucks , badly needs to be fully renovated yet I find myself staying here when in town for volleyball competitions . Decent prices I suppose. If you decline housekeeping you recieve a bogo to their buffet which is awesome.
The cafe serves great coffee and has some delicious desserts . Mels diner is good too , I usually do not like Mels...too greasy. If heading to the convention center it's a 10 minute drive passing through a park which makes for a nice stop because of the beautiful river.
The breakfast buffet is horrible. I understand it's only 8.99 and I wasn't expecting much but everything was sitting out old and terrible. I asked the chef if we could get a couple fresh items and he told me "I don't mind throwing away food but this food is still good, only been out and hour and 45 min."... chef sucked!
Was there for drinks and live band. Bartender was helpful, quick with our order, music was great.
Old. I only go there for the farmer's markets on Thursdays
Seems really sketchy in the casino. Rewards card machine hardly work. Employees are great though!
The rooms are small and smelled a little of cigarettes. The pool was clean though if not a little cold
Remodeled and looking good. Comfortable, nice rooms.
Removed our favorite game... The ladies at customer service we're AMAZING tho
I went to the Mel's diner which I have been to before and had an amazing tuna melt. But this time my poor friend never got her coke freeze guess they just forgot about that. I tried the rueben this time cause the tuna I guess has changed. It was super soggy and definitely not even close to one of the better ruebens I have had. Not sure I'll be returning to this Mel's location again, it's turned into just the line cook casino type food now. Might go to the other Mel's since they are only focused on food and not a casino as well.
Security harassed me for standing next to the stairwell, I was not aware that I was not allowed to wait and meet somebody downstairs. They were rude and disrespectful.
Very good excellent service, has very comfortable rooms
Great service throughout the casino.staff really nice . Food at the restaurant was very good.
Played bingo.. lost. Gambled.. lost lol but wasn't bad. Haha
Elevators were not working properly, so we had to walk down 11 floors. The room was extremely hot.
The ice machine on the 7th floor was broken.
The carpet was filthy!!
It was just a dirty place to stay.
The pool bar was closed on the busiest weekend of Sept.
No microwave, refer, or coffee maker in the room. Bare bones.
The bike parking did have 24 hour security. A definite plus with all the drug addicts and homeless in the area.
It is definitely better than jail, and the price was just slightly high for what you get.
Updated pet friendly rooms. Our Regency Tower room had plenty of space, with two queen beds, table and chairs, and vinyl flooring, perfect for dogs. There isn't a great dog walking area, and the shower isn't anything to write home about but was adaquate for an overnight stay.
Hard to win here. Security is really up everyone's case.
The room is nice and the services are nice. The only thing that bugs me to the point of 3 stars is the general smoke level. I havent been in too many casinos but this one is the most Smokey I have been in. There are 0 ZERO non-smoking areas with the exception of our room. I can't seem to get away from it. My nose is stuffing up and burning for an hour after being in it. They've got mini air purifiers everywhere but it's not helping. I walked into circus circus and the air on the game floor was so much better. I'm not sure I would stay here again unless the air gets cleared up somewhat.
Checking in the people at the front desk were very rude. Everything since then has been adequate.
We reserved our stay on Priceline and it stated that it was going to be $57 for the night. Once we got to the hotel we were charged an additional "resort fee" of $21 dollars. When we asked about the extra fee it was not explained at all. The room was not fully clean. There were no fitted sheets on the bed and were pretty uncomfortable. The bathroom does not have a fan for when showering and the light switch looked like it was falling apart. We went to the cafe in the morning and the coffee was the worst coffee we have ever had. It tasted like it had chemicals in it. Will not stay here again.
Nice inexpensive hotel. It is clean and comfortable. Could use some upgrades but overall I would recommend and stay again
Horrible smoke stench everywhere. Run down and dirty. Needs to be demolished and a rebuild.
Service was decent, could have more personable and friendly staff and drinks has gone up in price. Sands used to be the home of the dollar fifty drinks, now nothing is less than 2.50, which was very disappointing.
There is nothing fancy about the Sands Regency, but that doesn't mean it's without charm. The rooms have always been clean, the showers hot, and it's reasonably priced. I don't know if this hotel ever had a heyday, but if it did, it was probably in the 70's. The air filtering system in the casino is a bit lackluster, but the tables are affordable and the drinks free flowing. The Copa Grill is great, Mel's is a diner like every other. Haven't tried the tacos. Sometimes house keeping is... persistent, despite the do not disturb sign on the door. The location is great, there's lots of things in walking distance. Some great bars and restaurants, and the water way is a few blocks away. If you don't mind a very dated hotel, then this is probably the place for you.
I have come here 5 + times now and asked for a adjoining rooms and they haven't been able to provide that accommodation. I'm looking at the pool right now and its empty
Everything is dirty! Room especially not clean! Fridge in room not working fan in bathroom is broken...Service is terrible can't hardly get a drink.
Rooms need refresh buffet is 50% more satday given vouchers for free bear but buffet would not accept them.
Had to back to check in to ask why they had to find out as they did not know
Stayed there recently they are remodeling. my room the only change was a tiny coffee pot and a small refrigerator. They remodeled the buffet it is pretty but the food was not any better and they had doubled the price
The machines here don't pay as often as I would like. But I understand that it's a business and if the machines paid out as much as I would like then they wouldn't make any money and would go out of business and I couldn't have that because I enjoy spending time here. Both my stepfather and my little sister worked here a little over twenty years ago so I would feel horrible if The Sands were to go out of business. I would rank it as one of my top five casinos to go to. The restaurants serve great food the rooms are clean and comfortable. I recommend you come and see for yourself because what I like may not be enjoyable to you.
Rooms are big enough for 4 persons2 and very2clean nice environment and friendly employees service is great ....
Fun place to gamble, about of homeless and other sorts of people asking for cigarettes or a dollar to play their free play. Better off going mid day to avoid that. Food is pretty good. Their pool is is awesome in the summer. They have bands play and a bar right there by the pool. Good times
Somethings dont work like alot of thing but its nice
I wish there was a zero star, will never go back to be treated so rude...
Service was very helpful and attentive, but probably the most depressing place on Earth. The rooms are outdated. The whole place looks like it's about to fall apart. The thermostat in the rooms will not go lower than 68 but it feels a lot warmer than that. There is no vent in restroom. Too many drug addicts and some are regulars. I feel bad for them since the chances of winning is slot lower than a casino I went to. Maybe I was just "lucky" with the others IDK. They do give a lot of shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. No microwave in rooms
Smaller than I thought, also very unattractive atmosphere
My experience at the hotel was good , nothing but a solid experience and good bang for the buck and the hotel personnel was awesome
Kind of seedy place. Not dirty but a vibe about it. Many restaurants. The buffet is premium priced.
My stay at Sands Recency was so much fun. The staff was so very helpful, they went out of there way to help me.
Service is always adequate, but slow. The rooms could use some renovation, but they are pristine. I stay at the Sands whenever I'm in town.
I frequently travel and stay in hotels, never had this type of disaster night. Poor service, broken rooms. Maintenance worked until morning 2:30 am to fix room air conditioner, did not give another room. Duplicate charges of card. What a rip off.
Love this Casino great place to play. Wonderful servers. Friendly staff. I've never stayed at the hotel.
Checking in took 20 minutes since they only had 2 people working the desk on a Saturday evening. By the time that I was done, they had a third person checking people in. The hotel garage is the old style so its hard to maneuver. The room feels like it need to have a new paint job and the phone was super old. The phone was like the ones in the early 90's. The bed was ok. It had a tucked in sheet but not a fitted sheet, which was weird to me. The price was good at $79 due to the pub crawl but they added $25 in taxes and surcharges which i was aware of but still sucks. Overall, an ok room for an ok price.
I love going to the Sands because the people there are awesome. Steve and Debbie are wonderful
The room is big but you only get two pillows, bathroom is small, but I guess decent for what I need it for
It has been great a bit old but clean and quite .Staff was friendly .I would stay again.
Front desk had awful customer service when we checked in. Rude, not very welcoming. Room was dirty, wanted to relax in hot tub but locals who weren't even staying in the hotel were taking over the pool area. It wasn't very pleasant or relaxing and we will never come back to this location
I'm not sure where to begin. Just demolish and rebuild, best idea for them.
They will not cash you payroll check. I am handicaped, the walk was short. My husband worked there. Oh gold dust is the same. We where going to spend money there. So i go to atlantis and peppermill they will cash it no questions asked
The sands is a great place to stay! It's a great location and holds a special place in my heart because it's where I got married!
The room was nice but the place us a bit run down. Not that you go to Reno to stay in the room anyway
You get what you pay for. Bed bugs come with the price. Yes. So I would have never stayed here but my 80 year old mom was insistent that we stay here because she had two nights free. I wake up with bites on my feet s and legs and then see these little bugs in the shower go and hide under the grout of the tile. Security was cool. They can t do much about it. They offered free nights, comp meals, free cab ride... I just wanted to get out of here. Now the issue, I just bought a new home. I haven t even owned it for a month and now I have to take precautions not to bring these critters home. Damn you Sands.
