Sands Regency Casino Review

Basically you get what you pay for with this hotel. The hotel room was very very basic. The entire toilet was loose and could be completely removed from its area. The sheets easily separated from the bed and the pillows were pretty old. Also, no laundry bags or extras offered in the room other than basic toiletries, old hair dryer, and ice bucket.

The casino area was a typical casino. Nothing too special to share there. If you just a cheap place to stay for the night, then it's a decent place. Not recommended for an extended stay.

Out dated for my taste, needs a little better follow up, on management and maintenance. Before waiting to have a guest call to have something fixed. TV was replaced promptly.broken cable.

Great Choice of slot machines. The buffet was great.friendly staff.i will definitely go back

The security guard was rude and condescending. This is not the first time. Im not sure why I continue spending money there as this happens almost every time I've have to deal with them.

The room was kind of dirty, but was large, the beds were comfortable, and it had a nice view. We had booked in advance, and check-in time was 3pm. We had arrived in town for a wedding and needed to check in and get ready. We arrived at the hotel at 4pm and were told no rooms would be available for an hour. We ended up having to get dressed and ready in our car in a parking garage. The only reason they are getting 3 stars rather than 1, is because the somewhat rude receptionist upgraded our room to a larger one. I probably wouldn't recommend the hotel.

Hotel room was nicer than expected, the mel's restaurant was enjoyable, and all in all a decent place to stay for a weekend

It is an older hotel. The room was well worn. The wall paper was peeling off. The carpet was faded. It had a standard bathroom. The shampoo ,soap was hooked to the shower wall. The restaurant was way over priced. The food didn't look like the picture. You could also gamble there.

The buffet had dirty glasses for the lemonade. And not a very big selection of food.

Its super close to downtown but much cheaper. Wish we had a mini fridge but good otherwise

Not for kids really smoky in the casino pet friendly has a Mel's diner pool

Too many drug addicts and hoikers running around there

dont expect a four star hotel for $20 a night. The buffet is great for the price. The booze is cheap and you wont find better odds on the gaming floor anywhere in Reno. If you want posh go somewhere else but if you're looking for the most bang for your buck The Sands is the place!

It's not a 5-star hotel and that's the only reason I gave it 4 stars. The rooms are amazingly affordable and very nice for what you pay. For 40 bucks I had a beautiful king suite on the 14th floor of a 15 floor Hotel with a beautiful view. The restaurants are fun and it's conveniently located. Just Sands is a super place for a good night's sleep at a very reasonable price plus there's a nice variety of gambling options. Everything from pennies to high stakes. Also, the Sands has a fabulous pool!, and is super convenient airport shuttle. With a little self-control in the casino, it's a win-win situation - with the potential to be a win-win-win situation if you're having a lucky streak!

Older and in need of a update. Parking is awful. Dinning was ok but very limited. Gaming is ok but could use an update as well. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Not many amenities and pricey. The cleaning staff was nice. The rooms were clean.

This comfortable and attention is fine the problem is that it smells a lot of cigarettes

Bcz of our years of play and our playing constantly, my husband and I have six free nights, $200 in free play and enough points to eat for free the whole trip. Our whole cost is our gambling. So the trip becomes about what many people pay for resort vacations.

We brought our family of 6 and had a lovely time. This place isn't recognized as a location that caters to children but my children had an amazing time. Employees always said hello and made small talk with them, everyone here is very helpful and took care of our special needs ( high chairs, boosters, hot water for formula, extra pillows and blankets, food right away for my screaming toddler). No one ever made us feel unwelcome or a bother with our kids, even the other patrons were friendly and social. We will definitely stay here again when in town.

We re in Reno atleast once a month during spring, summer & fall and we ALWAYS stay at the sands!!!! We love it there!!!! By far the friendliest staff ever!!!! The manager Steve goes above & beyond to make sure everyone is happy & everything runs like it should!!!! He s amazing!!!! Debbie is awesome as well!!!!
Can t wait til winter is here n gone so we can start our monthly trips again!!!!

Very good customer service. Slots are great in payoffs. Fewer people which gives me more choices of machines. Buffet is excellent!

This was a bad experience. We made reservations online for one night in a non-smoking room. However, when we arrived they placed us in a smoking room that absolutely reeked. When I went down to the desk to ask about switching rooms, the desk person said that the reservation was only just a request, not a guarantee you get what you pay for, that they could put us in any room. I would not have made the reservation if I had known it was a smoking room. When my wife asked to speak to a supervisor, the girl at the desk refused to call one, saying she was in charge. She also refused to give us her name or the name of the supervisor. There was no apology or any offer to help other than to bring us an ionizer or check out to get our money back. I've never heard of such a policy. At this point, we asked for a refund and left. Luckily, we were able to get a room at another hotel. There was never an apology, not one. Very rude. We were there about half an hour total.

We had a nice time here but in your bingo hall your cashier Lisa was very rood didnt smile or greet anyone and was rood to other staff and other guess with aditude problem. she must need a new job adjustment.

Convenient location and great price, I only wish they had mini fridges in the rooms.

I want told to leave by security guards after I had played @ least $200 dollar! I had my computer so I figured I could catch up on some business. So I bought a drink and and paid for the internet service. About 10 minutes later security comes up and tells me I can't be doing what I'm doing if I'm not gambling or don't have a room I can't be there. I don't know what the hell happened to paying customer and I just paid for internet that's gone to waste now I wasn't doing nothing to nobody wasn't causing no harm I think it's a bunch of b******* I'm a regular at the Sands it's always been a problem with security and they're cocky attitudes thinking they're police or something and they're not. I've seen numerous verbal assaults from security towards customers. Everything and everyone else was okay no problems really nice people but security has been an issue for way too long now and you need to fix it period they are not cops and if somebody's not doing anything wrong there's no reason to be a f****** dick to him. Excuse my language but this is really frustrating. Pretty much Stole My Money by throwing me out like that if you are a paying customer you are allowed to be inside that building and to do whatever you want within the limits and guidelines and rules of the casino.

I love the sands it's not the classiest place but the people are good

This hotel is bad.. we reserved 2 rooms on Expedia all fees included.. at a certain rate.. got here and had to pay additional fees , so wasn't the deal expedia offered scam. And to top it off got bit by bedbugs.. to change rooms was not easy either.
Dear Sands your response is a joke... you are a" my way or the highway Hotel" This was my 3rd year in a row with you guys and it just got worse every year.. I have had this happen once before with the bugs at a place in Monterey Ca. at least they refunded my fee for the night .. the fear of the bugs and being bitten is one thing . but the fear of bring them home is another.. Either you just don't understand or you just don't care. "I'm sorry just doesn't do it... I'll never return to your hotel at this point. No need for a response I'm done .

Poor accommodations, too smoky, rip off on hotel fees, needs upgrading, customer service okay. Although Mel's is a good place to eat.

Worst place I've ever stayed at. When I called reservations the guy offered me 2 free rooms. Then when I showed up the front desk wouldn't honor nor would the manager. The front desk has multiple signs saying guests can ask for a late check out. When I asked them the night before we left for the late check out, he said no because they were booked. When I took a shower, I actually could have taken a bath at the same time due to drain blocked. Toilet paper dispenser was falling out of wall. Room finally got cleaned after 6pm.

Very small casino and 3 terrible restaurants. Don't bother.

It used to be kind of a dive but now that has been taken over by the gold us West casino's much much better

Too smokey all the way through hotel in the halls and elevator. Not a good place for kids except the swimming pool was wonderful they /we loved that huge pool but you have to walk 100 feet across the back parking lot to get to it

The room was ok but i can say the manger was outstanding my credit card was not working i even let her see that i had plenty of money on the card and she wavered my card and let use stay that was very nice of her i will be coming back in the summer

The buffet was ok food was not hot variety was about average wait staff was very friendly found a dirty spoon in the desert dish price same as GSR go there first

Still no waitress...half of the gaming floor is shut down...you would think that that would improve your odds of getting a cocktail waitress...but NO!

Customer service at the front desk was actually the very opposite of hospitable. There are so many layers to my poor experience but I will leave it at that.

ROOM: I reserved a King size bed in a Non-smoking room for my wedding anniversary getaway weekend. When I arrived to the hotel after a very long drive there, I was told by front desk that they do not have my king size bedroom and that they will place us in a 2 double bed room Non-smoking AT NO EXTRA CHARGE! My husband and I were very upset about this but did not feel like arguing at that time since we were only there to enjoy our alone time together for the weekend. We went up to the room that was supposed to be non-smoking and the hallway to our room smelled like cannabis, Our NON-SMOKING Double bed room smelled like the cannabis smell in the hallway came from OUR room!!!

CLEANLINESS: We left in the morning for a stroll around downtown and came back at 3 pm to find that housekeeping NEVER stepped foot into our room to change towels, blankets, or even just pick up a little.

MANAGEMENT: I called the hotel the day after I checked out to speak with the front desk supervisor and give my complaints, He had to have been the WORST Customer service ever available. This guy was a complete JERK! Did not take anything into consideration. He stated that " Reserving a king bedroom was ONLY a request not a guarantee at their hotel and that if I did not mention anything about all this during my stay or at checkout, I was stuck." No refund, No apology what so ever, Not a tiny bit of comfort to their customers.

CASINO: There are way better casinos to go spend your money at just a few steps away, this place is great for a much older crowd.

I checked into my room, which was a gigantic 9th floor 2-Queen sweet, with a breathtaking view of the strip, and found a syringe cap and a condom. So, not the cleanest, but a nice hotel with good views and cheap rooms. I'd give it 5 stars but their remedy was to move me down 3flrs. No thanks! I'll keep the view!

Had dinner at Copa Restaurant. Great ambiance, however the food was okay. My guests and I ordered steaks. Ribeyes, and T-bones. We all wanted our steaks to be prepared medium when we got our steaks every single one of our steaks we're cooked over done. When our server went to return our food I can hear the cook arguing back with the server that they were cooked just right when they weren't. Overall most of us were given new steaks that were cooked correctly to medium. Our server was great making sure we got our food the way we wanted. Great menu and great prices too!

Pool party was well organized kudos to management over seeing the fire man fan's

The room was super noisy I barely could sleep! And the front desk were unfriendly.

If you want to be in a Casino 100 % compliant and safe this Casino is either there already or the closest in Reno. So responsible. Impressed!

Beds were amazing, it felt like I was sleeping on a cloud . Water pressure in the shower was great. Also they have the best little taco place ever. The staff was fast and amazing

Its light-weight ghetto, due to it being in a ghetto area..... Lol 4real its okay not bad and not a bad price. It was a quite stay and we had somewhere lay our heads while in town for 5 days .

Extremely smoky and loud in lobby area. Has a parking garage with only 6'1" clearance so had to park in Casino parking. They have one "premium" restaurant that had more than 20 empty tables, but we were told we could not be seated for 15 minutes......which passed without seating us. Left and went to Mel's Diner. Room was passable but had few amenities.

Rooms are clean, room quiet & staff friendly. The only complaint is that we had to wait a half hour in line to check in. The line behind us was nearly out the door! Also, the grounds were dirty and it was smoky in the casino but not on the room floors. They also need to wash their windows. I probably won't stay again because the smoke bother me walking through the casino.

The Sands is inexpensive and shows its age. Drinks by the pool are a great way to decompress after Burning Man.

-the elevator broke down
- the prime rib could use some work (it was dry)
-the hot tub was down
-there was only 1 pin for like 5 exercise machines
-need more parking spots
-rooms need more light

Positives:
- prices are low
-rooms seemed clean
-friendly house cleaning staff
-good WiFi
-beds are comfortable
-it was fast to check in and check out

At first I did not want to write this review because of how much I really liked Sands Hotel and Casino, and all the awsome experiences I have had there in the past, but after this experience I don't think I will ever be returning. Checking More
