Reasonable place in a very good location if you're in town to see something at the QE Theatre or BC Place Stadium. Hotel staff are friendly. The in-room Internet service is a reasonable speed.

Some problems with the room maintenance the clock was 25 minutes ahead, the toilet and tub both had broken but functioning fixtures, the charging outlets on the lights won't work when the lights are off (i.e., at night, when you want to charge your phone), and the thermostat doesn't have much range (and needed a technician visit to get going).

But all in all, not a bad place to sleep if you're in a pinch.

I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone who is staying in the Vancouver area. The rooms were very clean and nice. But most of all was the customer service, they absolutely helped us beyond belief when we were in a pinch, and were most helpful. Without them, our trip to Vancouver wouldn't have been possible and would have been ruined. Great people and a great place!

The service was excellent and the food and drinks were great. It was a large venue with plenty of room and a good A/V setup. I recommend this place for anyone hosting a medium to large event. Ours had approximately 150ppl.

It wasn't a great stay. I know its downtown Vancouver but the price isn't comparative for the rest of the area. Then add 30 for parking and the room was old and out dated. We don't plan on returning.

Excellent location for downtown Vancouver stays. The food at the hotel was underwhelming but edible. Rooms were clean, although I always find the sink outside toilet thing weird. I did not order any room service. The pool is very small, would work for one family, maybe two. Elevators are slower than the stairs up to the seventh floor.

Went to Moxie's located in the lobby and had dinner and drinks before a concert. Great service with delicious food and awesome drink specials. I stayed at this hotel about a year ago and the room was very neat. Good location if you are from out of town to watch a concert or sport event.

The pool area needs to be updated. Pool not clean at all black mold all over the place and very dirty. The room was okay, bathroom very small, bed wasnt very comfortable. They need some work on the updating of the rooms and pool area. The front desk took my cc for a deposit and said they Were not going to charge It. Before I even got to my room they charged the full deposit. The room was small not very clean more so the bathroom. The staff were friendly. The have fast service. The location was great. I wont stay here again until they update the rooms and that disgusting pool area.

Loved everything about my stay there except for the incredibly slow to non existent WiFi. Have never witnessed such a disaster of trying to connect with their pathetic WiFi. Three if us all had huge difficulty and in the end didn't bother and used our data when we asked the front desk to reset the router and they said that they couldn't, WTF? Great place other than that. Highly recommend but good luck connecting. Maybe we were just stupid that day, lol.

The rooms were nice and clean, staff are friendly, located pretty close to Robson and Granville with lots of food options. Shower kinda sucked, and there was a network drop beside the shower which was kinda weird. There was a balcony if you like shuffling. There was a moxie's and shark club attached to the hotel. Lots going on at the hotel, was a little far from the training I was doing but you can't hold that against the hotel. Viable option when your in the area.

I am giving 2 stars mostly because I was excited to stay in a place that offers room service. I have been attending a meeting and they offer a small breakfast but I really wanted a nice one. I called down to the restaurant and was told that they do not do room service until after 9am and that I would have to go down to restaurant. Being by myself it just seemed weird to eat alone. Also the shower was cold, it was like their was limited hot water.

This hotel is fine for a place to sleep while exploring the city, but it's certainly not the nicest around. It's just a block or so from the stadium and less than a 20 min walk from the waterfront.

HORRIFIC. I woke up with bugs in the bed; it was a nightmare. Cockroach was crawling in the sheets!
It s absolutely filthy: pool is freezing and tiles are brown, layers of dust on the fan, dust on the ceiling, stains on the lampshade, rust in the bath. Not even a towel rack!? Elevator is cramped and slow. The room was 43C, the repair guy clearly did nothing. They claim to have room service but nobody ever answers.

This hotel was a disaster, everything you can imagine to be bad in a hotel is there. It was by far the worst experience ever... and I ve had a lot of experiences.

Basic Sandman hotel. Rooms are decent and clean. Nothing fancy. The location is excellent for events because it is within walking distance of BC Place and Rogers arena area. Transit is near by. There is a pool and hot tub. No continental breakfast is offered. It is attached to a restaurant/bar so that's a bonus.

Elevator broken. Hot tub broken. Guest services that don't get anything done that you asked for.
We did mention when we booked that this was our honeymoon. There was zero effort made to make this weekend special, not even a card left on the bed.
The two stars are for the bedding which was incredibly comfortable.

Reasonably priced hotel in the downtown area. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice but slightly smaller than the average room. The beds are very comfortable! The lobby included a small business centre, a sitting area with sofas and access to the Moxie's attached to the hotel. All in all it was a pretty nice hotel.

The only thing that this hotel has going for it is...

The only thing that this hotel has going for it is how close it is to Rogers arena. I paid $369 per night. When we checked in honestly I thought the lobby was nicer than it looked in photos. So that s a plus. However, when we walked into our room it was as if we were walking into a sauna. We immediately went over to the air conditioner and learned that it was blowing warm air (side note: it was 25+ degrees both days we were staying there). We then fiddled with the thermostat until we exhausted all options. We then called the front desk but all it would do was ring and ring and no one would pick up. We called 4 times. Then we decided to go downstairs and complain face to face. When we got to the desk we told the person that we ve called the front desk and no one answered and that the a/c isn t working. Maintenance came soon after and spent half an hour or more trying to fix the a/c. In the end they couldn t fix it and the maintenance urged us to go to the front desk and request to be moved to an air conditioned room since they were literally dripping sweat. So, we went downstairs again and talked to the same lady, this time asking to be moved rooms because maintenance couldn t fix the problem. She went and talked to the manager (he was behind her fiddling with something in the corner) & he was extremely dismissive of us (shooing us away, telling us he would come up to our room in 5 minutes to look at the a/c). I then got very stern and told him that maintenance had already come up and attempted to fix it but were unsuccessful. He was still very dismissive telling us that there was nothing he could do besides give us a fan. I then demanded for a discount since we were going to be stuck staying in the equivalent to a sauna. He offered a $50 discount per night. I of course took that offer because I wasn t going to barter anymore with this rude man. We then went back up to our room and waited for someone to bring us a fan. The fan man comes (he was very very nice and helpful) and hands me the fan and I ask him to bring another one. I plug in the fan he brought and low and behold it doesn t work (shocker). We tried it in multiple plugs too and it still didn t work. When the fan man came back with the second fan I handed him the broken fan and asked him to replace it with a working one. Luckily the fan he brought the second time worked so when we were waiting for the third fan we were able to somewhat cool off. Overall I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone unless they are looking to have a bad experience. Although it is less than a 5 minute walk to Rogers arena and just in an extremely convenient location overall, I would rather stay somewhere farther that treat their customers with more respect (except the fan guy he should get a raise).

Hello, unfortunately I can not recommend this hotel, although the location is good. Air conditioning on the roof is so loud that you cant sleep. Staff is slow and not exactly friendly. We were complaining about the noise and got as a result an even worse room.

Unfortunate but i left my phone charger plugged in at our room when we left to come back to Kelowna .I called to see if they were willing to send it to me from Vancouver to Kelowna i was told "Sorry we do not see it in there " . I don't understand why people post such bad reviews. This Sandman is fantastic value for the downtown area. All the bad reviews appear to be people who have champagne taste on a beer budget. I have stayed here 3 or more times in the last few months and I LOVE it. The rate is fantastic value given the location. Sure, the rooms could use some TLC, but I believe that is reflected in the price. The staff here are so accommodating and have allowed us to check in early and check out late each stay. Parking is a breeze. Moxies and Shark Club on site is the BEST. Uber eats delivers to your door for 99cents to cure that hangover. This is my go-to hotel when we need to stay downtown. Out of the front door, you're a quick walk to everything you need. We took a $9 cab ride right down to waterfront but you could walk it in 10 minutes. We will be back in a few weeks!

Hotel is located well. Hotel is tired and dated, needs upgrading and decorating. Aircon is very noisy the maintenance man said they are all like it. Is not like the photos on the website, wish I had booked another hotel. The swimming pool needs a good clean, entrance to hotel is falling down. Items of furniture, ie a bed left in corridor. Appearance is not appealing and not making guests feel comfortable.

My dad arrived for a work trip and booked the hotel ahead of time. Upon arrival the front desk agent told some lie about a burst pipe in the room and said he couldn't stay there. It was already quite late (11 pm) and my dad had no options. The agent assured him he found a great room at another hotel - Kingston. For anyone living here, we know that the Kingston is a total bed bug ridden dump. I can't believe that they now resort to tactics such as this to get occupancy and their hotel that they don't bother to update. Anyway, the Sandman agent told my dad that a taxi would take him there and there would be the best room in the hotel waiting for him there and he apologized. We stood outside for a bit but there was no taxi, so we walked there. Upon arriving - surprise surprise there isn't a "top" room they could give us. After mumbling on the phone with the Sandman agent, the Kingston front desk agent checked my dad into a standard regular old room, hopefully it wasn't too uncomfortable. I am shocked that the Sandman would pull something like this. Frankly if I wasn't so shocked and embarrassed for them I would have demanded to see this so called "burst pipe". What a joke and a scam they run. STAY AWAY!

The window had spit on it and the room was disgusting. The whole handle was broken of so the room didn t lock and you could barely get out. After dealing with Sidney at the front counter, he slowly got us a diffrent room. The new room on the 6th floor is a little better aside from the window that is ready to fall out and has no screen on the 6th floor. The mini fridge doesn t work and the mini tv only has pay per veiw at $25 per movie. Also stains on the bed.

I went to Moxie's restaurant in the Sandman hotel for dinner and drinks. I'm only giving 3 stars because the waiter told me that the drink special was a double vodka for $7. Of course, I thought that was a great deal and even repeated "a double for $7?". However, it turned out that he was mistaken and the drink contained only a single shot. Keep your servers correctly informed!! Otherwise customers end up getting the short end of the stick.

It's an okay hotel for a night. Our room was a decent sized corner room with many windows, but none of the windows worked properly and were open slightly with no proper seal. Even near the top floors, it's pretty loud. The bathroom was tiny, with the sink outside and the toilet/bath inside. It was so small, I didn't even bother using the shower. The room wasn't very clean, the bed was okay but there were crumbs and food left near the windows. The A/C didn't seem to work properly and was on all night until we unplugged it, it was very loud. The included wifi is good.

There was a scheduled power outage which we didn't know about until we arrived at the hotel. It would have been nice to know about it before we booked. Thankfully we were already in bed by midnight, but if we had been out late, it would have been a long walk up the stairs to the room. The fire alarms then went off periodically after the power went off and when it came back on. I understand this is something they have to do, but if I had to be up early, I wouldn't be happy to get woken up at 1am by the fire alarms.

Overall, it was okay, but I will look to stay somewhere else next time. It wasn't that cheap and is in need of a renovation or a clean up. It's a great location for BC Place and Rogers Arena, but there are better hotels in the area.

Air conditioning does not work. Called front desk and was told, it just takes time for it to work. It s probably 85 degrees in my room. Thermostat set at 72 for 6 hrs. I think I just have a fan in my room. Advertised as air conditioning. Very miserable. I realize it doesn t normally get this hot in Vancouver, but when you are paying for something, should get it when you need it!

So if you enjoy cold showers in winter, bed Linen that is so poorly put on that you worrie that they haven t even been changed since the people before you, extremely thin walls, mold on the bathroom celling, and doors that every time you lock them you have to go get your keycard recalibrated, oh and the heater that sounds like a chinook taking off then this is your place! Extremely disappointed, I ve stayed at better backpacker joints... just overall a health hazard.

Our car was broken into in the secure car parkade during dinner. We went down to gather our belongings and found that our computer , laptops ,2 cartons of cigarettes and thousands of dollars in prescription medications for our mother and father were stolen . The hotel staff and parkade staff had no help or desire to help us out it was like we were an inconvenience to them after paying 800 dollars to stay at there hotel for 1 night, after speaking with other guests that had stayed at the hotel for 4 nights said that the break ins happens every night that they were here! Get your customer service together ! This is unacceptable! Hire a security guard and stop letting thieves ruin people s lives. They wouldn t even show me the security footage ! Brutal ! Never again would I stay here

It was nice enough stay. Liked proximity to everything. Lots of food options, lots of entertainment, close to subway. Elevator was ponderous. Only odd thing was you need to be careful as apparently the electrical is janky. We somehow blew the circuit using the hotel hair dryer and iron simultaneously. Pool is odd to get to, but nice enough stay for the price.

I've stayed here regularly as it's usually decently priced and easy to get around - close to everything. The rooms are decent and staff are pretty nice too. This past visit, however, was a bit concerning for me.

I had asked for a late checkout as I had some lunch plans. I left my room at 11am, saw the cleaning staff right outside of my room at and indicated to the lady that I had late checkout. She was obviously agitated and asked me what time, so I told her at 1300. After that she was pushy about coming in to make my bed. I found that interesting as I had indicated to her that I am checking out, why would you make my bed, wouldn't you instead need to change my sheets? Then she dropped the conversation right there. Perhaps it was a miscommunication, but it was alarming to me, taje it how you want to take it, this is just my opinion and experience.

Anyway, besides that, my stay was overall good. The front end staff are very helpful and kind, the amenities are great.

3 out of 5 for decent staff except for the cleaning person.

A friend and I were spending the night downtown and simply needed a place to sleep. Could indeed tell the room was not cleaned properly before we checked as there was dried blood on the sheets. Though new sheets were quickly brought up to us but the presence of the blood was alarming. The shower drain obviously had some plumbing issues and the air conditioning did not work which made for a very uncomfortable sleep. Overall it was an okay stay, but not worth the price of the room.

Room is tiny which was fine as we were only here for one night for a concert. Housekeeping woke us up at 8am and continued to keep us awake because you can hear everything in the hallway for your room. That was not fun after drinks and a late night concert. Elevator was tiny and sketchy and only one was working but our tiny room was nice and clean. The location for our concert at the Staples arena was great. The shark club restraunt had good drinks and the food was decent. Overall I would say this place was only ok.

I have been trying to contact the management for a very serious issue. I have been talking to the management and i have been very patient but its over 10 days and nothing has been done. The hotel charged us twice for the one stay we had there. We gave our credit card details by trusting and now later to find out they charged us again was very disappointing. The front desk customer service is been really rude, the lady that answered my call at first from front desk told me nothing can be done about this, i had to force her so I could talk to the manager.
The one night stay we had there was terrible.
Overall our experience with them was not pleasant at all. I do not recommend this place for anyone except for the convenience to get around Vancouver city.

I booked a room 2 months prior to my honeymoon. Within 24 hours I tried cancelling the booking and was told that Sandman does not refund any bookings, regardless of how early the cancellation is requested. That is a ridiculous business practice given the time of booking and type of event. Now, not only I will not be able to use the service but I have to pay the full price. Sandman totally ruined my honeymoon experience.

It's a decent hotel. It has a great location, but in terms of quality, it's just like every other 3 and a half star hotel that I've been too. The pool was pretty small and the hot tub was mediocre. The staff were friendly though. Or at least they told me they couldn't. Must have been understaffed.
