One of my favorite places in the world. Absolutely stunning enclosures and staff. They really are passionate about conservation and the health and happiness of the animals. Never will have a complaint. The reptile house is the best part!

The San Diego Zoo is always the best! Animals and plants are exquisite. The staff is especially friendly and helpful. Due to a recent leg injury, special needs were required for mobility issues. I am so impressed with the care the zoo has taken to provide the opportunity for visitors with many special needs to visit and enjoy the zoo. Information about such on their website is very beneficial.

Great place for children and adults alike! Lots of foods to choose from that taste better than the stuff at Disneyland. They have lots of interesting animals worth seeing even without the pandas such as a secretary bird. You can often get discounted tickets which are already relatively cheap at ~56 bucks.

One of the best zoos I've ever been to. Reasons why:

1. Pandas
2. Large space so not over crowded
3. Red pandas
4. Safari
5. Lift that brings you back from other side of zoo to give you birds eye view
6. Baby pandas

The staff are well trained and have lots of facts and knowledge about their wild life. Buy a souvenir cup for free refills it is worth it

Don't miss if you are in San Diego! Truly one of the best zoos! Excellent in enclosures for the animals and experience getting up close and seeing them. Great compromise of being able to view and animals having space. Vegetation is fantastic and keeps you cool and comfortable. So many fun family groups that you can spend time watching. Aviaries were amazing!

Nice zoo. We have season passes but prefer the safari park in Escondido. Lots of walking so wear comfy shoes and I recommend bringing a stroller if you have little ones. Food is a bit pricey so I recommend bringing your own but the gift shops aren t bad. Friendly staff and the bathrooms are ok.

It didn't quite live up to my expectations , but overall it was an extremely pleasant experience. Unfortunately some of the exhibits were to small for their residents. But like I said overall it was a pleasant experience.

Loved the zoo. Very big. Make sure to take the bus in the morning first thing to take a tour around so you can decide how to plan your day. We spent the whole day there but could have gone another. Excellent zoo.

Tip #1 Buy discount tickets at AAA for $50 each and don't have to stand in line. Gives you access to the guided bus tour. Tip#2 The food venues will refill your water bottle for free and don't have to stand in line. Tip#3 Bring sunscreen and hat. Even though it feels cool and there are clouds, the sun is still intense. Tip#4 Wear comfortable walking shoes. Took us about 5 to 6 hours to see everything. We decided to walk it to see the animals up close instead of taking the bus. They do have electric scooters to rent for those who can't do all that walking.

i had quite a nice time here. this zoo has very special animals you wouldnt typically see in just any other zoo, and the staff would go into detail about a certain animal's personality, backstory and skills which i definitely admired. although they only had one panda at the time that i went, i was very happy to be able to see it eating bamboo instead of only sleeping. it really kept me on my toes and id spend much time at each exhibit that would catch my eye so that i could study and photograph the animal(s).

Great zoo, but expensive. I'm probably just spoiled by the St. Louis Zoo, which is just as good and free. Of course, San Diego got that panda, so that's one over us. Vegetarian-friendliness: fine. The food is not the reason to go, but a vegetarian won't starve.

Great day with the family at the Zoo. There was so much to see, I appreciated having the gondola ride and bus tour to get a feel for the whole area before deciding where to spend extra time at. Kids loved it... so that made our day even better!

We absolutely loved our trip to the San Diego Zoo. Compared to other zoos we have visited we felt like this zoo got us even more upclose to the animals and because of the perfect weather there were more animals out and visible. We especially loved the seeing the cheetah interact with his dog companion, seeing the polar bear and giraffes (babies too) and the red panda was simply adorable.

Lovely place, my children love coming here. Very well shaded, animals are in great habitats. :) Worth it to get annual pass, as we like to take it easy and walk through to see a few animals every visit.

This zoo is fantastic! It's expensive, sure but you'll get easily a whole day out of the zoo. Find some deals on tickets and go. They even have a sky tram that will take you across the zoo! The pandas during feeding time are the cutest thing ever.

Lots to see and do. Bus rides and gondola make it easy to get around the park. Easily spend the whole day here. Special zones for the kids. Park food and drink is reasonably priced but you can bring your own! We went during the week and it wasn't busy at all. Lots of animals wandering around in close proximity to you. And zoo staff wandering providing info was great too. Great day for anyone!

What a grand adventure winding through the many paths. The animal enclosures have viewing from many sides, made possible especially because of the vertical nature of the zoo terrain. Take the bus tour early for orientation, and pay attention to the limited area covered by hop on/off Kangaroo bus. Our faves were: flamingos marching, a red panda named Clark, orangutan & gibbon young playing, giraffes up-close, capuchin monkey cuteness, leopards, condors flying, and the gorilla family.

I've been to a lot of zoo's in the U.S., and this is my second favorite zoo. The Kualas are adorable, the Rhino is extremely impressive, and the giraffes are very playful, and is a great zoo!

The San Diego Zoo is incredible; full of a huge variety of animals, plants and creative ways to displays all of their species. Their conservation efforts and educational experiences offer such reward to the world, this is a must stop for all tourists and residents in San Diego County. Admission/annual passes are a tax write off as the zoo is a non profit organization that just turned 101 years old!

Once you've been here, most other zoos pale in comparison. You can tell the animals are very well taken care of, there's plenty of space so it doesn't feel too crowded and each staff member we came in contact with was friendly. Loved the signage and info about how people can help protect the animals (conserving water, avoiding palm oil, etc).

Tip: Get there close to when the zoo opens to avoid crowds and see the animals be super active during feeding times.

San Diego Zoo is a must see for both visitors and locals. If you can, visit during the weekdays for smaller crowds. Spring or Fall you might see baby animals too! Dont forget to admire their world class collection of plants too!

Another zoo. My favorite was actually the Miami zoo. The San Diego zoo is difficult to navigate, we missed a whole section of it because the map and signs were a bit confusing...and we navigate just fine in forgeign countries where we don't speak the language. I just don't feel like it lived up to the hype or the expense but I am glad to have done it.
