This zoo is incredible. Beautiful grounds, very clean, and wonderfully well-maintained. The different tours they offer through the zoo were very informative, and we especially loved seeing the koalas and pandas. Our visit here was wonderful.

This really is a tremendous zoo. The exhibits allow you to have a closer experience with many of the animals than any other zoo I've been to. Although there was a big line to see the panda bears when we went, it was well worth the wait. I also loved how the zoo was located in the heart of the city and is brilliantly landscaped.

I had a very good time at the zoo. I went to San Diego for the weekend and felt it was a "must go" experience. The zoo is very large but there are many ways to travel around on the busses available or the skyfarri. There's a very large hill which may be difficult for older or younger people to get on top. All in all it was very fun and worth the price. I went at the opening at 9 and was there until around 12:30. I hadn't seen everything the zoo had to offer but the animals were very active and viewable.

Bring sunscreen and an umbrella! They are very organized and have people all over directing where the line is to stand in to wait before you go into the zoo. The line does move fast! We were in line for 15 minutes. Wear your walking shoes too! We walked 6 miles in the zoo and there are hills that you have to walk up. If you go from right to left and then up the middle then you ll be going down hill for most of them. Overall it was a nice experience. It was a little difficult wearing the mask the entire time in the zoo but we took breaks. Spent three hours in the zoo.

After purchasing our zoo passes we were so excited to go take our 2 year old to see the animals. We purchased the year long memberships and they printed our cards right at the gates. Even though it was raining and cold, the weather cleared up and we were able to see lots of animals! It was a great visit. Smiling faces and clean restrooms always! Every employee was helpful and informative. We look forward to coming back again!

Even though it rained, we had a great time! Bring food and drinks, dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes. Plan what you want to see most as you can't see it all in one day. I recommend the polar bears, cats, lemurs and primates.

After visiting the San Diego Zoo, I now understand why it is world renowned. I was in the zoo for over four hours and still wasn't able to see all of the animals! The staff is very helpful with directing people throughout the zoo. One of the employees even walked me to the exit when I couldn't find it on my own. They are ample food and drink options and the employees are excellent at accommodating patrons with food allergies. They even have multiple train services to enhance the experience and accommodate people that aren't capable of walking through the zoo.

We had a good time at this zoo. This place is big so plan for at least 4 hours. Plenty of animals to see. Get on the bus as soon as you arrive because it will take you around the zoo on a full tour. There are also some hop-on hop-off buses also. Be sure to ride the sky tram that gives you a wonderful view from above. Take some water as well because you will need it. Read the reviews on the restaurants too before eating. 1 of the restaurants near the entrance was terrible. The burger was too dry. Overall, a great experience that we won't forget.

We love this zoo. Particularly great with the summer nights extended hours. Animals are more active when the evening comes - we heard lion s roar and snow leopard meowing. Also the elephants were eating via the environment enrichment feeders. Very fascinating.

Lived up to its reputation. My Wife and I love visiting zoo s anywhere we travel, and this was definitely one of the most extensive and well planned out zoo s we have ever been to. Food wasn t the best, but that was probably to be expected. Definitely recommend trying to see some of the keeper talks at the times stated on the map, it s a great way to learn a bit more about the zoo and the animals. First time we had ever seen Polar Bears at a zoo so that was a highlight.

U need a plan to come here, because just one day is not enough to see everything enjoy some food with no hurry, read about the animals, and if u have kids probably walk slower, so u need a plan to enjoy max that u can/want... i loved so much
Got there in the morning and left at night, and I would like to go again
The zip line is so much fun and u enjoy an amazing view of the whole zoo
I completely recommend that!

Incredible. There's so much to learn, animals to look at, plants to enjoy the beauty of, smells to smell, infrastructure to see and world class level of care for wildlife. Absolutely incredible experience

Always have a good time here. Even bought a membership so I could continue to bring the family. Staff is very friendly, helpful, and informative. The animals enclosures are a good size for them too. You can tell they're treated well.

This is the biggest and best zoo I've been to. We were there for a full 8 hrs and barely walked through all parts of it. I love riding the tram, seeing the animals closer than most other places and seeing the hippo swimming. Too bad the polar bear went hiding and the pandas are not there.
The only part I don't like is the paths are confusing, there's many split points and it's hard to visit all animals without repeating some paths.

It's such a large zoo with all kinds of animals to see. I highly recommend the children's zoo portion as it also has some adorable animals. On top of everything I got to take personal photos in my cosplay for Halloween!

Yes, it s sad the pandas are gone, but there s still so much to love about the San Diego Zoo!! My favorites are the orangutans, gorillas, and everything in the Africa Rocks area. Definitely ride the top of the bus for usually the best view of the polar bears. Morning is the best time to visit, before it gets too warm.

Excellent Zoo! Get there early to avoid a lot of the people traffic and get good parking. On a cooler day like we had today it was a lot more hit than miss with animals being active! We walked the outside and then hit the interior.

It is the most expensive zoo I've been too but the place is top notch. Nice eateries and lots of exotic animals. For a little extra you can schedule a close encounter or VIP tour but the normal ticket was great. Be prepared to do a lot of walking because the zoo is huge, but most of it is shaded by trees. Buses and the sky ferry can take you across the park and give you a rest. Both are included in the normal ticket price.

Such a beautiful Zoo. Be ready to walk and explore. And what more can we ask for when they have a Panda. Strollers and wheelchairs can be rented. And there s always an employee that can help you out if your lost. It s that big. Seriously if your in the San Diego area you must visit. Caution: Food is expensive!

You need more than one day to fully enjoy this place. I have no complaints and only great things to say. I really love that most of the animals have a great amount of space to habitats and with everything there is too see you can walk through the whole zoo and not even know it. Bring plenty of water and be ready to be amazed.

What can we say about the zoo , nothing but good things, clean environment, friendly staff , ability to bring your own lunch and of course free parking,as an annual pass holders we love the freedom to lesurely come and visit the park without the pressure to see everything in one day , we had the chance to see our favorite animals and got to see all the new expansion plans for the kids zoo , we look forward to our next visit to the park with high expectations

A very nicely laid out and large zoo. Recommend taking the bus tour to get overview of zoo. Bring your own food, the prices for food is high, and if you have little ones you will easily spend almost $100 buying food for everyone.

We got the 1 day ticket but we definitely understand why there is a 2 day ticket option. This zoo is huge and we have never been to anything like it before. We did the guided tour bus which is 30 mins and gives you an idea of where you want to see. If you only have the 1 day ticket, you definitely have to prioritise what you would like to see.

The gardens / landscaping of the zoo is absolutely beautiful too

I LOVE to go to the Zoo so when vacationing in California, the SD Zoo was a must! So many varieties of animals. We didn't get a chance to see the Pandas due to the length of the line but maybe next time. Hopefully by then, there will be a better way to help the line move along so visitors don't have to wait so long. We travelled from Houston and that was the only animal we didn't get to see so the rest of the visit was awesome. The park is super clean and the employees are truly helpful.

One of the best zoos I've been to. Animals are usually visible and seem well cared for. Tours are available, as well as the free sky tram. The special tours are a little expensive, but worth it. Restaurants and restrooms are well placed throughout the park.

We love love love the zoo! It is so big and none of the animals look sad. It is well worth the trip and if you buy a pass with through City Go you get a great price and can skip the line upon arrival. You will probably park far away, but if that detracts you then quit complaining about everything! It's worth it, trust me.

The zoo is large and amazing! The bus and tram are great, and there are so many animals to see and learn about. I would recommend to anyone for a visit. Be aware there can be a lot of walking involved, some of it up hill.

It's World Famous for a reason... this place is top quality, NOT FOR PROFIT! We are annual pass holders for 5 years running and whether showing guests around or just a stroll through for fun, the Zoo always entertains.

One of my favorite places in San Diego. If you have little kids, take them to the huge 3 story play place in the childrens zoo section. Or go the other direction to the new Africa rocks and walk under a huge waterfall! You can't go wrong at the zoo. It's a blast. The gorillas and orangutans are my favorite to watch.
