It was nice and fun to see all variety of animals. I enjoyed learning about the species and their habitats. The zoo is huge. I highly recommend visiting the San Diego Zoo. It was an amazing experience.

The zoo is beautiful, and I enjoyed the day. However, the constant reminders (signs, "enforcers," and announcements, including street entertainers) to "make sure you're properly wearing your mask" became annoying rather quickly. I tried to be understanding because I was thankful they could be open at all, but it was definitely overkill.

Beautiful zoo with a huge range of animals. enclosures are well maintained and larger than those in other zoos. Staff are knowledgeable about the animals. Reasonable food prices and healthy options available. Bring comfortable footwear - this place is enormous.

I just signed up for zoo membership. It's been well over a decade--the last time I had a membership my children were in elementary school (they are now 20 and 24 years old). While some things are the same, like the flamingos that greet you near the entrance; the Skyfari with it's mind-boggling views of zoo, city skyline, and Balboa park; and Albert's Restaurant, with it's consistently good food; much has changed. We loved the new Africa Rocks area. Baboons, penguins, big cats, and a waterfall you can walk behind were some of our favorite features, but the carefully curated plants and landscaping, coupled with education about the prehistoric creatures that once roamed local landscapes (with some full scale sculptures to show how BIG they were) created a time-out-of-mind experience. And if you love koalas, you are in for a treat. For locals, membership is well worth the cost. I now enjoy walks in a world-class botanical garden...that just happens to have amazing animals along the trails. I'm also excited about going through a year of seasonal changes with the zoo.

One important thing to know, for parents of young children--the Children's Zoo is being completely redesigned, and it's currently under construction. Check the San Diego Zoo website for updates.

Great park, where the take great care of wildlife, so cool to learn so many things about not just the animals, but the care for them, and the research behind taking care of our planet. Also in a beautiful. Location

The San Diego Zoo was a really interesting experience. It was really expensive but I did have a good time. I should say I didn't go by choice but rather I went to to write a paper for college. Entry price was as I said expensive but once you get inside the food, drinks, and souvenirs if you're into that were all relatively inexpensive. They treat the animals well and have more than a few experts on hand to answer your questions.

Been going here since I was small. Now they have conservation information and the pandas they were known for having all these years have been sent back to China because they were doing so well. The panda population has almost gone back to normal due to their efforts and research!

Consistently the best zoo experience for the animals and people. Really enjoyed our recent visit, and the gondola ride was excellent for views of Balboa Park and the rest of the zoo.

It is a full-day activity to get through the whole zoo. Plan accordingly and bring comfy shoes if walking. If you'd prefer a bus tour, that's also an option to limit the walking, but it's a less intimate experience in my opinion.

We have an annual pass and go 1-4 times a month with our two year old. Great value. They take beautiful car of the grounds and the animals are wonderfully taken care of. My daughter is constantly excited while walking through and the joy in her face when seeing these animals is priceless.

My family and I easily spent the entire day having fun at the zoo. A person could easily spend 3 full days at the zoo as this zoo is one of the largest zoos in America. There are plenty of restaurants and gift shops spread throughout the zoo. If you are in a hurry, I would recommend taking the sky tram. It gives you a view of the entire zoo from a bird's eye level. The best animal to see would be the Giant Panda. All in all, the San Diego Zoo was one of thr primary highlights of my vacation.

I couldn't have loved this zoo more. The enclosures were large and clean and the animals all looked healthy and well cared for. You can get inches away from a tiger (separated only by glass), watch a cheetah play with its companion labrador and see a jaguar stalk its prey from an overhead walkway, The volunteers are very knowledgeable and helpful. The tram ride across the zoo is lovely and the park has photo opps. around every corner.

But bring a lunch. The food is ridiculously overpriced.

I love the San Diego zoo. Every time we go, there is a highlight and some small updates to the exhibits. The animals tend to be more active at dusk or earlier in the morning but there is no hard and fast rule. Plan for a full day because there is a lot to do! We have a membership so we can take the park in leisurely and come back anytime we want.

We walked over 5 miles with a four- and nine-year-old. So, let's back up to the beginning. We bought our tickets ahead of time from the Go San Diego Card for a discount. Parking is free. Our first stop was to take the bus tour. I think it was the best choice we made all day. Thirty to 45 minutes of a narrated bus tour. Well worth it. We then walked all over the place. The Kangaroo Bus saved us at the end of the day and brought us back near the exit. The zoo was incredible! We loved every part of it. Great bathrooms, food choices and options.

San Diego Zoo is one of the must to visit places in CA.. It is a wide and vast zoo with a variety of animals.. You can walk, take rest, eat and then walk to cover the entire Zoo..

Thanks to the pleasant climate of San Diego, you can see most of the animals anytime you visit.. Though, April to October makes the best.

The bus tour is really helpful.. The restaurants are placed in right intervals to grab and go.. Children would love to visit often..

Great zoo but huge and very difficult to navigate. In attempt to "follow" the map, we circled the same area three times and still never found the tigers. Very hilly with many stairs. Even though there are a couple elevators, it is not an easy zoo for wheel chairs or strollers Marking a footpath would be extremely helpful. Disappointed there are no more panda bears. The best monkey habitat I've ever seen but not all animals have as impressive 'homes'. Aviaries leave a bit to be desired. Offering the bus tour free of charge us a nice perk to help cover the expanse though we did not have time to ride it. Many exhibits were closed or animals had been removed and the aerial tram was closed. Overall, this zoo was OK but certainly didn't live up to it's reputation or price.

It was great! Be prepared to make this an all-day thing. Was pretty disappointed that the Skyfari wasn't working when we went, as we bought tickets that included this but weren't aware it was shut down until we'd walked all the way there.
It was very immersive and interesting. Would definitely come back someday.

Its definitely a fun destination if you want to take your little ones on an adventure. Our kids love the zoo. Definitely recomend the tour bus as they take you around the park and you can use it to kinda plan your day. Make sure to sit on the right of the bus as there are wayyy more animals to see on that side.

World Famous for so many reasons, get a yearly pass so you can enjoy again and again so much to see and do. Lots of walking, you can bring in food and non alchohol drinks. Lots of areas to rest. Jump on and off buses to go just where you want. An all day place you'll really enjoy. Lions and Tiger and Bears oh my

This is the best Zoo I have ever been to. It's vast! Plan on a two day trip if you really want to see everything. We only had a day in town and barely got to see everything we wanted to see.

The animals all look healthy and happy, and the Zoo is famous for its breeding programs and conservation.

Great exhibits and you get a lot of options for traveling around the zoo. Be prepared to backtrack if you miss a hidden trail. Also some paths have hills that are not stroller/wheelchair friendly. Ticket prices are higher than many other zoos, but the exhibits are really good. Definitely recommend if you are in the San Diego area and have half a day free.

Another must do in San Diego. This place is timeless and one can visit many times. The hop on hop off bus is a great way to get around. There are also special experiences that enhance the visit.

The animal Kingdom! Come one. Come all! This is an extraordinary walk through the biggest display of condensed animal life in the world. It's breathtaking. It is full of beautiful expressions of loving animal behavior not normally seen in our everyday life. This is certainly a family opportunity that everyone may consider important to do if you can get there. Food is good. It is expensive. It's very time consuming. To experience nature upfront and personal in such an intimate fashion, it is something to remember. The San Diego Zoo is a reward of a lifetime. The Zoo rests in one of the most glorious places on the planet. This is San Diego California. Nothing better than springtime with the animals. Get out with the family today and make the best of this trip. It's time to be an animal lover!!! Yes!

If u bring in your water bottle refills of cold icy water are free at the snack bars. To help cut down on plastic waste. The new enclosures for the animals are beautiful. The new bridge is very nice too. And soon the new elevators should be running.

A great zoo, although they closed early so I did not see pandas. But I loved the gorillas, elephants, birds, etc. Displays were seemingly comfortable for animals while providing optimal view. As a zoo finatic, I can say this is a good one.

Such a great zoo! We are from Denver and were in town visiting friends, I'm so glad we took the time to visit, we spent all day there and still didn't get to see it all. I was so impressed with how happy the animals seemed, much better than most zoos.

Wow! The zoo has gotten a beautiful remodeling! I haven't been here in a few years and I am pleasantly surprised! You must come see the new and improved world-famous zoo! Come see the pandas before they go home to China at the end of April.

Great place to take the kids. My family loves the LA zoo but the San Diego zoo seemed even twice as big as LA. It was family friendly. The staff was nice. I truly appreciated the free kangaroo bus and guided bus tour. I noticed they are adding a children's play area which will make it that much more fun to visit. We were there for over 8 hours but the the exhibits were so interesting that we didn't even notice how much time we had spent there. The polar bear exhibit was incredible. I loved the Skyfari gondola ride. The reptile area was fun. Oh and the brother bears wrestling with each other was hilarious. The fact that we could take in snacks was a huge bonus especially for a family of four on a budget. There were a lot of areas that were perfect for capturing that family moment picture. Oh the jaguars and the lions, the condos, elephant Odyssey it was all amazing. I could go on for days. I think the only thing I would suggest would be more family restrooms. I saw a dad and his young daughter that had a difficult time going to the men's restroom. I liked that the zoo was very clean and the security staff was present but not overwhelming.

Arrived only 2 hours before close but with the included bus tour, we were able to get a relatively full experience! Such a great time and I recommend dedicating many more hours to your visit than I did. There is so much to see!

Great zoo with plenty to do for the family. Make sure to do the guided bus tour first to get a lay of the land. Only about a 30 minute ride and you can scout out which animals you want to see first.

This is the most amazing zoo over ever been at! Our 1.5 yr old daughter simply loves the animals and everything about this place. Parking is typically pretty easy and the staff is extremely friendly.

Incredible up close views of the animals. Clean park. Definitely take the bus tour at the beginning so you get a quick view of all they have to offer and see a lot on a short period of time. We went on a Thursday at 1 pm and there was no wait at all. Saw a lot and was very happy with our 3 1/2 hour visit.

I believe this is the best zoo in the country. I have not been here for several years and was presently surprised at the number of new walkways. Great for kids, elevators for seniors & handicapped people.

Very lovely zoo! The layout is great and you get to see the animals from multiple angles. Be prepared to walk a lot! We walked over 7 miles while there. There are quite a few hills as well.

The staff were very friendly and informative. We got to witness a member of staff placing a baby koala in their habitat. She was very enthusiastic and engaging. I wish I could post the video, but am unsure how.

They enforced the wearing of masks and keeping a distance of 6 feet or more between park guests.

The overall atmosphere was charming, friendly, and personal. I highly recommend a trip to this zoo!

Crown Jewel of Balboa Park! Too much to do in a single day. If you're a local, invest in an annual pass. So nice to go for an hour, see a couple of exhibits, and have lunch. The zoo hosts special events all year round.
