TSA official told my wife the she had to put her purse in the lap top case. Then going through TSA screening she had to take it out. I am a veteran with a rod and 2 screws in my leg. I get patted down every time I go through screening .

This airport is jammed full of people, crazy unorganized with no order to ticket or security lines, and I didn t see one TSA agent in a half decent mood. All were crabby and not friendly. In the seating areas, people have left their trash and half empty coffee cups sitting around for someone else to pick up. Lines to get a coffee or any drink are unreasonably long. By far one of the worst airport experiences.

Five security checkpoints, two had to search my bag, I was groped by the security officer for a "general search", and one checkpoint required us to carry out bags ten to check them in on the same plane. Absolutely ridiculous.

Worse airport I've ever been through, there's airports in the middle East better than this, had a 10hour layover and they kick me and my family out of the secured area just to make us turn around and go through the security checkpoints, NOT recommended to have a layover here though. Would avoid at all costs not worth the headache and hassle. Would give 0 stars if possible. Shops are good though to say the least

I m sure everyone has different experiences depending on when they are in the airport. Mine was fabulous! It may just be San Diego in general, but everyone was so kind and helpful above and beyond my wishes. My husband and I took a round trip flight and both times, arriving and departing went smooth without no problem. People were so nice!

Do not connect through San Diego on Southwest! Some connections require you to leave and reenter security to go to a different set of gates. Airport is also very overcrowded with limited food and dining options.

My sister's plane got delayed from 6pm to 11pm and then they told her if they didn't get into the air before 11:30 the flight would be CANCELLED and she wouldn't leave till the next morning!!! Never in my life has any airport been so terrible to passengers and also SERIOUSLY HOW REDICULOUS CAN YOU BE!?!?

The U.S. s most busiest single runway airport. It deserves 5 star
A because it is a great airport. Clean and nice staff. There is even a piano you can play which is fun. This is defiantly a great work of art. The only issue is sometimes there are delays, but every airport has some delays. Amazing airport. The only issue I will say is that it isn t the best place for plane spotting if you want to see heavy aircraft. While large aircraft do come in almost every day, it s mostly going to be 737s and A320s and other smaller aircraft.

One of the worst, TSA experiences ever. First coming in from international flight you must exit and re-enter the airport. Next they must have hired retired postal workers to work at the TSA. Next the sitting area is small with an over crowded restaurant and a way over priced packaged sandwich location. One star for the new carpet, woohoo.

SD used to be a nice little airport. Now, after the expansion of T2, it's gotten a bit more tedious to navigate. The additional food options are welcome, and they did a decent job of including actual local vendors; however, the additional spas, high-end gift shops, and other non-food services are not worth the fees they tack onto flights and rental cars. The focus on T2 also left T1 in rough shape. That terminal has almost no food choices (especially if you're veggie), and inadequate seating. On the plus side, T1 is a lot easier to get in and out of now than the sprawling T2.

Very close to the city and very convenient!

However, there is only one runway because it is too close to the city to expand. As a result, takeoffs and landings at the airfield are crowded, and many airplanes come and go directly above residential areas on the flight route. In particular, in the residential area on the hill near Balboa Park on the east side, you can see a lot of airplanes flying just above.

First trip to San Diego and the service I've received at SAN would DEFINITELY put it on a "must return" list. Between the super-enthusiastic, warm, outgoing shuttle driver from the rental car center to the amazing woman at TSA (WHO *EVER* HAS A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE WITH TSA) who called me "my darling" as I left her care today? You can bet I'll be back. Oh. And the Peet's coffee made me a MEGAHOT oat milk latte that was a work of art. Good internet, but finding functioning outlets might be a treasure hunt at SAN. Thank you for a wonderful travel experience, friends.

Everyone calls it "Lindbergh Field", not San Diego International. That name sounds like something dreamt up to make a second tier city feel it is in the big leagues. San Diego doesn't need that. Have you ever heard of "London International Airport" or "New York International Airport"? Come on airport authority, honor our past as other citys honor theirs. The Spirit of St Louis was built here, hence the Lindbergh moniker.

The remodel to the San Diego International Airport looks really nice. There's really nothing you can do when it comes to how crowded it can get... at least there are decent eateries and tons of places to sit and relax... plus the people are nice!

I really like this airport. I have flown domestically and internationally and always had short lines that moved fast. Terminal 1 is older and there is a plan to replace it in the near future. Parking is great, sure it is costly like all airports, but it is next to the airport and an easy walk. Compared to JFK airport in New York this airport is a breeze. My only complaint is that there is no trolley stop at the airport, but you can get off the trolley at the Middletown station, walk down the hill and take a free shuttle to the terminal.

This has to be the BEST airport I've flown out of. I travel for work a lot and have been all over the world, and this airport has been by far the most realxing, enjoyable, stress free, and most importantly the CUSTOMER SERVICE was off the chain! I actually talked to a tsa officer and he smiled and greeted me! I've never had that happen before. Usually they make it a belittling atmosphere, but not this place. Go San Diego!

I liked this airport. They had a nice sunny seating area with some food options that was perfect for working while waiting. The airport was clean and had some interesting at pieces. While the restrooms were clean, they were hard to find and a walk from the Sunny spot. I disliked the very loud announcements that seem much louder as at other airports and prevent you from having a good phone conversation. The food options seemed plenty.

Featuring 70 miles of coastline, San Diego is well-known for its warm weather, fine dining, awesome museums, premium shopping, and a variety of activities. Going to the beach is a must-do activity when visiting the city and there are many different beaches to choose from. Some beaches are ideal for surfing and kayaking, while others are perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving. It really depends on what you are hoping to find. To save you the trouble of hours of online research If you own a dog, then Ocean Beach is the pet-friendly beach for you. There s even a special dog area where your pet is allowed to run around without a leash On the other end of Ocean Beach is the famous Ocean Beach Pier, which is a perfect spot for fishing. You don t even need to have a California fishing license to fish here.

What a horrible way to end an awesome trip to San Diego. This place is a disaster. Flying out of gate 8 at the Southwest terminal on October 29th. Natural TSA is understaffed at security screening; not to mention their inconsistent instructions regarding phones and food in carry-ons. The terminal is WAY too small for the number of travelers. It looks like the people outnumber the seats at least 2:1. Where's the Fire Marshall, as this has to be a code violation. I paid $24 for a burger and fries and had to eat standing in a corner because the restaurants don't offer seating (except one). I then paid $16 for a 20oz soda and a premade turkey on wheat sandwich for my 5 hour flight. With what they charge for food you would think they could fix the locks on the toilet stalls in the one restroom in the terminal. What an absolute dump!

The Staff here are the most racist and despicable species on earth. I flew here twice and encountered complete nonsense both times. Simply rude for no reason at all. I would give zero stars but U couldn't.

This is regarding Alaska Airlines, and San Diego is one of the airports with them, you may have to go OUT of security and check back in for changing planes. How is this allowed by the Feds and the County authority ? Seriously...it s already a zoo now with flying and to exit/re-enter security when changing planes, and potentially lose items you got with you during your travel post security check at the origin. How much is Alaska Airlines greasing the County and Feds for this looniness ?

As far as Airports goes SAN is one of my Favorites. Lots of interesting art, shops and food establishments. Take your empty growler along and get it filled pre flight at the Stone Brewing retail outlet.
Like all Airports things are pricey but I can think of a lot of worse places to be stuck in when your flights delayed.
