Absolute abomination of a stay. Don't get me wrong...

Absolute abomination of a stay. Don't get me wrong, housekeeping and the waiting staff were very nice and helpful, but the front desk staff were absolutely terrible. I tried to order room service at least 8 times, 3 of said times where I was put through to the customer desk, only to be told they'd be put me through, to what would be a dead line. The staff were short, discourteous and frankly rude, along with absolutely useless. I brought a query about a couple that was skipping us in the line to a lady at the desk and she simply said "it's not my problem. Bring it to the guy at the door". She then, later seen shortly after by my girlfriend, was now pointing at me and talking about what I had said moments before like a chattering schoolgirl. Yes, lady who works on the desk with the short black hair, you were seen, try to be more subtle next time. The other woman working the desk would just not initiate conversation with me despite me standing in front of her for a full minute until I said hello, only then did she deign to figure out my query. Overall, while some members of staff were lovely and very helpful, the first impression gained by those who you first talk to, being the front desk, was cold, rude and completely disregards your cares as a paying customer. Will never be staying here again, as it was a travesty of a stay, other than the rooms cleanliness and the lovely waiting staff. This place is treated as more of a bed and breakfast, and you would like to hope, as the staff on the desk just aren't even nice. Wouldn't have paid the money I did to book this place had I known that they would be so discourteous.

Booked a double with bath - was given a twin with shower. Bathroom unclean. Bar area mismanaged with most tables reserved - making it impossible to get food or sit for a drink. Asked for later checkout and was refused.
They seem to struggle to balance their business when there s a wedding in the mix.

Disappointed

There was a long delay in getting us to our room upon check-in because the room wasn't ready yet, even though we arrived at about 3pm. However, the nice lady at the reception was very apologetic about it and even asked if we needed something to drink or eat when the delay had stretched beyond half an hour. We hadn't had lunch and were starving, so we told her we'd be going to the attached restaurant (Prom). The nice waiter at the restaurant brought us back to the reception so we could keep our bags there. The receptionist told us that the bellhop would move the bags to our room once it was ready. I could have sworn that the receptionist also told the waiter at this point that the lunch was to be complimentary due to the delay caused. But it didn't happen and we ended up paying the bill. However, this didn't really affect our overall experience of the place.

It's a great hotel. Not very close to the city centre but the fact that it is on the seafront makes up for it. Liked the room, the bar and also the live music that played one of the evenings we were there.

Worst hotel stay yet by far.

Worst hotel stay yet by far.
We were put in a room in the back end of the hotel there were sockets hanging off the walls the hallway was full of bin bags of clutter.

My partner switched on a lamp and everything blew in the room.

Then we were given another twin room which they said they would make into a double when we were out for dinner. We came back from dinner nothing was done so we rang reception, upon receiving our call they sent a man up who just pushed the 2 single beds together did not make up the bed as a double and left again.

When we approached the hotel staff upon check out they had nothing to say and no explanation for there actions.

Would highly recommend avoiding this hotel, the complete lack of hospitality is unacceptable.

Stayed here last week for few nights. Hotel is good but nothing exceptional. Breakfast served to table is very good granted the staff are ran off their feet but overall it seems to be working relatively good and breakfast to the table is way nicer than buffet. I ordered hot milk for cereal each morning and it always came barely lukewarm however. Personakly i felt the staff throughout the hotel seemed abit cold and 'just going through the motions'. Leisure centre as always is a fine facility and spotless. Biggest bugbear with the stay would be the terrible internet. I am with 3 so I never need wifi but I could barely get internet inside the hotel yet once I would stand outside the hotel, all my notifications would fly through. Even when I connected to hotel wifi it was equally as poor. While there are sanitation points, I felt there should be more throughout. At the lifts there is only one at the ground floor lift (and more times than not last week it was empty). In this day there should be some at each floor outside the lifts. I stayed in 2 other hotels since Covid and the sanitiser was far more accessible in them. Another suggestion to improve things is the residents bar in the function room, its abit dark and depressing. Might be an idea to play movies at night rather than just muted football. I would visit and stay again but there are a few rough edges that preventing the hotel standing out.

Hotel was very nice and great parking outside, the rooms were very nice and spacious with a great sea view (exec room) reasonably priced hotel and bar food was very good and tasty, bar staff were very slow at serving despite not being busy, Salthill itselfnis very nice and well worth a walk down the promenade on a clear day, a nice selection of bars and restaurants to pick from and plenty of activities for adults and kids to choose from.

Feel duped and will not ever return. Not even close to an upscale hotel. The pictures on the hotel website are misleading. The actual hotel is a bit run down and overdue for an upgrade.

The lobby is small and busy. Restaurants and bars are to the left and right of the lobby and this make this space more busy and loud. The reception desk is cluttered and a bit messy. Staff are not well trained and can use a bit more guidance in customer service and traditional Irish hospitality. The flowers are all fake and dusty giving a very stale energy.

Our room was run down and certainly did not look like the rooms pictured on their website. The rug was old and the bed was two pillows and a white comforter that barely covered the bed. The window was broken and wouldn t shut without a small fourceful fight. There was a musty sour stench in the room so we chose to keep the window open for fresh air. This was an issue as the noise from the bar and wedding below filtered in till the wee hours of the morning. We couldn t get to sleep until the parties ended.

Breakfast might be considered good unless you are Vegan (like us). Vegan friendly options were limited which is unacceptable in this day and age. It also took forever to get a server to provide you with tea or coffee (can t serve yourself).

All in all very disappointed for the price charged. Not worth my hard earned money. I was looking for a relaxing sea side luxury(ish) hotel and ended up with a middle of the road (at best) hotel.

Not what I thought. Room doors don't close properly. So, a drunk guy and a woman walked in the room at 3am who were partying down stairs. Drama! Place sounded like a college frat house due to Christmas party that went on until early morning. They should not be a 4 star hotel, all facilities close at 8pm, so if you are just traveling through, it is no use. I did bring these issues with the reception when checking out. They apologized, I doubt anything going to change. Room is clean and bed is just alright. Read Keith Hourigan's review below, it implies this place is more suitable for parties than spending a quite night.

Room was nice enough. Nothing specular. Building was very close to the seafront which made for a nice walk. It's necessary to get a taxi or public transport to Eyre square if you are looking for the night life. The bar here was a lot of fun; with a charming crowd and delicious food and drinks. Verrrrry nice cocktails too.

This is a beautiful hotel in the perfect location for a relaxing stay. Try and get a sea view room as the views are incredible regardless of what the weather is doing. The rooms very spotless, warm and comfortable. Shower was fantastic. The aircon was good too. We had a bad start when checking in with our room not being ready (despite it being 4pm). And the receptionist was not helpful or polite about when it would be ready. We only had to wait 15 minutes before a different receptionist told us the room was ready. Upon getting to the room we found a voicemail on our phone from the original receptionist advising our room was ready. This baffled us as we were sitting in front of her the whole time. So instead of coming over she called us. Baffling!! However that small hurdle overcome we had a fantastic stay. The breakfast was one of the best we had on our trip. Very generous portions and the staff couldn t be more helpful at breakfast. Car parking is available at the front of the hotel or in the basement. We used both and both were as good as each other.

Lovely hotel, great quality everything from beds, pillows, linen, complimentary soaps, breakfast, seating areas etc. Only negative was the heat! Room easy to cool down air con/thermostat a big plus - but hotel public areas/corridors were so hot the heat hit you as soon as you stepped out of your room or came in from outside. I expected a fridge & safe to be in the room for a 4 star hotel and if we had been staying longer, the lack of this would be a problem.

First time staying at the Salthill Hotel. What a great choice! Great sea view from my room, no additional charge. Cheerful and warm Failte (Irish for welcome). I notified the Hotel in advance requesting an early check-in (as normally their check-in in from 3pm), and to my pleasant surprise, my room had been prepared and I didn't incur any extra charges for an early check-in. They have a wide selection in their breakfast menu. Massive Leisure and Gym facilities as well as swimming pool. I only used the Sauna and Steam rooms (but all leisure facilities provided free of charge to guests during their stay). Double room is spacious and bed extremely comfortable.

1 star given (if there was a zero star you'd get it) as we had to seat ourselves and waited 26 minutes and still nobody came near us to take our order or even ask us if we needed drinks while we waited for our waiter/waitress. Very disappointing for a hotel with such a high calibre. We ended up walking out as the service/greet/welcome was non existing. We wont be returning.

The modern lobby is promising but the rickety elevator that looked old led to doubts. Small and badly lit corridor inreased my apprehension which was finally realized by a small, stuffy, overheatedcroom with a view of an interior closed of courtyard and guest corridors or rooms. Tiny bathroom that was poorly laid out did not help.

The hotel is away from town so to do anything except walk along the boardwalk you have to get a taxi.

Staff seems nice enough but quality of breakfast selections is much poorer than other hotels we've been to in Ireland.

Very good Hotel, located in a quiet area, facing the sea. The room is very spacious with a large bathroom
The room faces the sea, with stunning views.
The people who attend have very good manners, they always greet and smile, it is nice to stay here.
Breakfast is quite complete with many non-Irish options as well.

- no usable sockets next to the bed

- The fan in the bathroom did not work
- Water in the shower was bad

Bright spot: nice staff, bar food, the pillows were soft for Irish standards

Recently stayed one night here with partner and our 3 year old daughter. Hugely disappointing. Placed in room over kitchen fans which kept our daughter awake until 11.30pm. After spending 250 all in on one night away I expected better. I emailed management my issues after I highlighted the issues with reception. Zero acknowledgement. Nicer hotel next door!
