Hotel excellent and the staff very helpful and courteous. We had a meal on the Prom on the first night and it was beautiful and the service was outstanding. Only wish we had booked for longer. Will definitely be back.

Went for lunch. Ordered the seafood platter, and was looking forward to it. However what arrived to the table was tasteless, poorly presented, sincerely unenjoyable. It looked as if it had been put together by a porter. The best thing on the plate by far was the brown bread. Utterly disappointed. And at 14.50 it was a dull pill to swallow. Will not try that again.

Spent 2days 2nights... Not even close to 4stars thought hard about giving 3 stars ... staff were very good . ... the food in restaurant was served cold .. The rooms were ok the mattress on our bed was collapsed on one side ...the curtain torn .. the bathroom toiletries were cheap .... Not 4 star quality...the shower door leaked water onto floor.... breakfast.. hit and miss . They don't have proper tea bags ... English breakfast teabags. .. the bar was very good for a hotel beer was nice .. and good music and craic. Don't think I'll be running back for a long time. 10 or 15yrs ago it would have been fab place I'd say ... it needs a make over badly and given 3star rating till then . In my opinion..

Very noisy _ no soundproofing from either ballroom or bar...management very amenable. ..but I still wouldn't recommend it for business trip or relaxing holiday. Mainly because of noise and also unlike other hotels I've stayed in not much in the way of relaxing lounge areas. Bar very busy nightclub vibe...might suit some people but not my cup of tea

We stayed there for 2 nights in late July. From the outside top, but the room a flop. Exhaust air instead of sea air. (see photo from our window). These were bad closing windows. Never again !!!

When we arrived, the place looked nice, but behind this facade is a horrible lack of enthusiasm.

Upon our arrival, we were told that our room wasn't ready yet, which was okay as we were early. We chose to wait in the hotel bar and have a quick snack, but while the menu sounds appealing, their Toasted Special (6.50 ) was a plain ham and cheese toastie with a few crisps. An hour later, at the actual check-in time, we were told the room still wasn't ready. We had to wait another hour before finally being able to get our keys.

Despite this wait, the place had not been properly cleaned. Used cups, a dirty tea prep-station and already stained towels painted a grim picture and replacing the cups took two calls to reception.

It should also be noted that there is only a 1 in 8 chance to get a sea-view room, unless one pays for the specific suites. The majority of rooms face the hotel's 'courtyard', a concrete tub with an AC system that runs through most of the night creating a loud noise even with the windows closed.

The next day's breakfast was another disappointment. Despite having to book a specific breakfast slot, we had to queue with people who mentioned to us that they hadn't booked one, invalidating the whole process.
The staff was focused on getting guests seated, rather than taking orders and seemed overwhelmed with no clear system of responsibility in place. The food served was quite bad and half of our order was wrong. Nothing was fresh, not even my 'special order' pancakes, and my fried egg had a huge chunk of shell in it.

All in all we do not recommend staying here and feel that the 4 stars, the Salthill Hotel tauts for itself, are undeserved.

Great hotel and facilities. Breakfast however, If you go nearier the end its like a free for all with the staff grazing on the buffet. Really should wait until guests are out of sight before they start loading their plates up. The waiter had to stop and tell the server, to let me go first before he got his breakfast. Had my eye on a bannana but the receptionist got it before me. Resturant food very good.

Salthill Hotel is fantastic from the minute you walk into Reception - all receptionists are so welcoming regardless of how busy they are.
The hotel is spotless everywhere.
Very good food in bar. Dinner in The Prom Restaurant is 1St Class.
All requests regardless how small are dealt with immediately.
Can find no fault with this lovely hotel in a superb location overlooking Galway Bay.

Was down at a conference this weekend. When I was checking in the lady was very polite and pleasant and told me what I needed to know. My room was really lovely very clean and confortable. Lovely selection of breakfast with a range of food that would suit every one. Only thing that I found was when you were going to find your room abit confuseing and bed was abit hard. Really enjoyed my stay if only for one night. Would go back again.

Second time back in a few months. Beautiful seaview rooms to say the least and would love to be able to afford to stay more regularly Food is good and facilities are quite good but found it was a little understaffed at the bar/restaurant throughout the whole weekend. Main restaurant deserves credit for its top class food as it really was tasty. Tks all in all as we had a lovely break and by the way receptionist are great.

Stayed 3 days. The Salthill overbook s on purpose and we were told we had the be moved to another hotel (though we had booked for an entire week) -at their expense and transport. We were graciously moved to a much nicer hotel - Ardilaun. As an international traveler I was extremely put out NOT having an in-room safe at the Salthill Hotel. I had to carry valuables, i.e.: passport, my purse and some jewelry around with me everywhere. They said I could go downstairs and put my items in the office safe but really?!! Salthill is conveniently located and clean but they allow smoking right outside the entrance and the vestibule was full of smoke smells because of the draft. Very irritating o persons with breathing issues.

The hotel is big, but getting old. We had to complain our first room, as it was very old and did not meet our wishes. The 2nd room was I.O. Breakfast was absolutely insufficient for Irish standards, hardly choice and no good quality. The gym was excellent.

Loved this hotel. Beautiful decor in the bar and the rooms were spacious, comfortable and cosy. We had a lovely 1 nights stay here. It is a 15 to 20 min walk into the city centre along the promenade. The hotel also has gym facilities and a nice pool area fit with a sauna and a steam room. All guests can use them for free.

Very nice hotel with an exceptional gym (which is actually open to the public on a membership basis) and other amenities like a pool, sauna, and steam room. There is a whirlpool, which does not get very hot but is still relaxing. The views are amazing in the rooms as they look out onto the North Atlantic. The bar is extremely spacious and there is comfortable seating throughout. The restaurant is also nice, though service can be a bit slow sometimes. But if you approach your server instead of waiting for them to stop by, they are very responsive. I found the front desk was not very knowledgeable about things to do or even their own gym. But they are all polite. The taxi call service is very cool. You just punch a button at the front desk and it automatically calls the cab for you. Press and hold to call a minibus for a larger group. It will tell you the ETA a car description. You don t even have to bother the front desk. Rooms were fine. Beware, the walls are quite thin. We could hear the tv next door whenever it was on. This was inconvenient late at night. The TVs were also very small. Like really small! Could use an upgrade there. But the views certainly made up for it. Would certainly stay here again though. But it is a little bit out of the downtown area. It s a short cab right costing about 8-12 euros and maybe 5-6 minutes.

Very old room, sink and toilet blocked so imagine how gross it was. We went to a wedding so by the time we used the room it was too late to complain so we had all the stuff there until we left. They need an update, at least in some rooms

Highly don't recommend this place.

Highly don't recommend this place.
I am working in hospitality industry and I have never seen before that low standard 4* hotel with this high prices.
Price is not equivalent with hotel standard.

- no tea and coffee making facilities in room (they are even in b&b)
-old silicon/ mold in bathroom
-hot room without air conditioning or a fan
-all night we hear dripping water pipe inside room
-loud vacuum pump or other machine outside
- thin walls

+quite clean rooms
+comfortable bed
+breakfast
+location

Not sure what the problem was. Had a great room with a view of the bay. Came back after being out. TV did not work. Not a big deal. Was told we will move you. Ok cool. Better room? Not.. Smaller room. No view. No coffee or tea. Shower door broken. Mold covered shower curtain that won't stay up. 2 nights. Never again here.

What a wonderful hotel . The staff were truly amazing , each one so friendly yet professional. Peigi in reception deserves special mention as does the quick witted Benson . Go raibh cead mile ..... I would recommend 100%.. Food was top class , room service was extremely prompt and the balcony out front with wonderful view of Galway Bay was just what was required during Covid times . Well done to one and all .

Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Avoid this hotel at all costs.
Rooms are dated to say the least and I was put at the back of the hotel with a lovely view of a shed!!!
The Gym next door clearly must open at 7am with loud music vibrating through the walls. The night porter was not one but accommodating or interested in my complaint, says a lot! .. I shall not be back and I advise others not to stay here if you are looking for a quiet night away.

Great Hotel. We stayed for a wedding and we're very pleased with the room and food. We have also visited for several shows, the only let down so far has been the bar staff who didn't have a particularly jovial attitude, which l think is essential for guests visiting this type of iconic establishment.

Great looking lobby kind of made me disappointed with the room. Rooms are clean and spacious but extremely out of date compared to the lobby. Place is also a fair walk from eire square if you don't own a car.
I also suggest you bring your own hairdryer.
