My boyfriend and I stayed here New Year's Eve 2015...

My boyfriend and I stayed here New Year's Eve 2015-16. The large welcoming lobby glowed with Christmas decorations. A waterfall of prosecco glasses and a chocolate fountain encircled by fresh fruit lay awaiting an incoming wedding. Although busy, Reception warmly greeted us and promptly checked us in. Our room was huge, as was the bathroom and everything was spotless. The view of Galway Bay was breathtaking. We unfortunately had to leave to attend a wedding in the hotel next door but as we exited, the concierge complemented both of us on our attire and wished us a good night. We enjoyed the wedding but left early so that we could go back to our beautiful room in the Salthill Hotel! The hostess and waitresses at breakfast were so friendly and funny and when we eventually checked out, the same receptionist asked us how our night was and remembered our full conversation from the previous evening. Our stay was fantastic - from start to finish. We never made it to the Health Suite but we knew we'd be coming back again so we'll get it next time. Thank you Salthill Hotel - what a great way to begin 2016!

were looking forward to meeting friends and staying in the Salthill Hotel together. This was the most expensive overnight hotel stay we had over the week, 209 euro, yet unfortunately it was the least value for money and a huge disappointment. The check in process was pleasant, our room was clean although the decor is tired and the room was too warm, the radiator came on and couldn't be switched off. The bath water was lukewarm.
The meal we had in the Prom Restaurant was very poor. The service was shambolic and we got our main courses an hour and half after entering the restaurant. We did delay ordering for about 20 mins as at the beginning we felt that we were being rushed but it was no excuse for the long delay. Unfortunately the food was not worth waiting for, bland, mass produced, lacking any flavour. Dishes of cold, hard and unappetizing carrots and cauliflower came with the food. The manger did apologise and we were compensated with free drinks, but unfortunately our evening was not enjoyable. The breakfast was equally shambolic and disorganised and yet again we had the same long wait. When the cooked food arrived, it was obvious that it had been under heat lamps for a long time, the plates were dangerously hot and the food was congealed onto the plates and very unappetizing, some of it went back. The Maitre de was doing her best and was apologetic but the staff were inefficient.
On checking out we approached the desk and tbe receptionist greeted us with 'put your key card in the box' in a brusque manner, no good morning or any enquiry into our stay. We offered our feedback and dhe contacted the manger, who again apologised and said she was aware of the problems. Covid19 is no excuse as we stayed in other cheaper hotels that provided a far superior product. Our friends are booked in for Christmas and are seriously reconsidering their plans.

Hotel had everything you needed. Air conditioner and wash cloths which most hotels didn't have in Ireland. Location was great. The hotel bar was nice and big and had entertainment on some nights. Rooms were large with one king bed and 2 twins. Walls are very thin in this hotel. Food was okay nothing to brag about. Irish breakfast was served every morning. Always the same never anything different. Gets old. Soup was good and the staff here were friendly Ocean was right across the street and the town of Salthill was a short walk. If you wanted to go into Galway a taxi would be better. However Monday to Thursday I think it was the town closes at 6 PM. So no shopping only Pubs are open. This was a big disappointment. Because we didn't get to shop in this beautiful town.

Rooms were lovely. Alot of balconys but you can't go out on them. Really nice views though and the pillows were incredible. There is loads of parking. The restaurant was good too. It would be a lovely spot for a walk on the promenade but it was stormy when we were there

Very nice hotel . Clean and classy with a great breakfast ! The gym and pool is to die for . The front desk was super helpful . I would recommend this hotel. One issue is it's not near the latin quarter so it's a bus ride or a long walk . 10 euro cab !

A very nice hotel outside of Galway and right next to the water. The rooms are very nice and comfortable, good food and service and the internet is very good in the rooms. You can take a nice leisurely walk into town along the coast line. Very pleasant. There is also a very nice park next to the hotel. Don't miss it.

This hotel has a beautiful lobby and bar but it stops there. If you are unlucky and get stuck in the old part of the hotel and they send you to the back elevator. Rooms are old, stuffy and very hot! Worse hotel we stayed in Ireland and England. The pictures on the website are for the new section.

Prices are competitive and the hotel is clean and cozy. Located away of the 'noise' with easy access to the town if needed. Good size rooms with all necessary functionalities. Leisure centre is very convenient and also in good standard. Positive surprise.

On Thursday the 4th August we had our wedding reception in the Salthill Hotel with over 120 of our family and friends and all I can say is that, everything was perfect. We had the most amazing celebration. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff were so helpful, professional and warm. The hotel looked amazing and even though we were over an hour late getting to the hotel due to traffic, everything was still perfect. My husband and I didn t have to think about anything except enjoying our celebration with our family and friends. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The bedrooms were also very comfortable, clean and spacious and all of our friends and family including ourselves who stayed at the hotel enjoyed it. Thank you very much to all of the staff in the Salthill Hotel for helping make our wedding day such a wonderful memory.
Best regards

Stayed here before and was lovely but this time it's a disaster. First room stank of sweat second was a box room which is probably for a single person (1 towel 1 chair etc) which is right beside the gym so we were woken up.at 9 by someone doing a class. Getting moved today so fingers crossed it will save the trip

Booked first another hotel but the rebooked to the Salt Hill hotel due to covid 19. Reading all the good reviews beforehand, I had some expectations. In total, the hotel is a disappointment and can't understand the good reviews. Waited too much when we arrived. The receptionist spend 30 minutes for one guest and the others had to wait. The room is not worth the 4 stars. Prison shower, they are cheap with the shampoo. Room was clean and cleaned every day. The worst during thy stay: The staff... Either for breakfast or for drinks at bar, bring a lot of time. Staff is constantly ignoring you. I know covid and all that stuff and less people in the kitchen, but it's not ok to wait half an hour in an empty bar or empty restaurant for breakfast... The hotel never deserve 4 stars

As my wife's mother passed away this year, we felt the need to go away from home over Christmas yet remain within the present restrictions. So we booked a 4 night stay in Salthill Hotel including the Christmas package.
Well we were treated like royalty by every one of the staff. The food and presentation was first class throughout our stay and was enhanced further by the general ambience and courteous staff.
Special thanks to Roisin, Brian, Peggy, Pauline and young Jade.
Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy 2021.
As Arnie said "we will be back"

Nice spacious rooms and perfect location at a quiet part of the city. You can have walks on the Promenade which is right in front of it. Restaurants and bars is just a few minutes away. They have one of the most complete gyms I have seen in any hotel. They also have a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, & steam room. Would highly recommended for someone looking to stay in Galway.

Had a lovely stay here with the family recently. Fantastic pool and jacuzzi. They have a spacious reception area that we made full use of due to having small kids so were able to stay out of the bar.
The family room is spacious and facilities are food.
I'd highly recommend this hotel.

Nice location from the promenade and easy access to beach. Rooms nicely serviced by maids. All staff was great from reception, to Prom restaurant to breakfast buffet. Easy to get cabs and we needed minibus and always arrived promptly. It is about 10-11 Euros from hotel to main area around Latin Quarter. It does add up.
Rooms- 4 Star -spacious, had AC so very nice, beds good, bathrooms had great water pressure.
Prom restaurant bar- 4 Stars -always vibrants. Had live band each of 4 days we stayed, good selection of beers, good TV s.
Breakfast- 2.5 Star - buffet lacking in fresh fruit and vegetables. Had scrambled eggs, over easy eggs, meats, few pastries, oatmeal, yogurt. You could order off the menu but limited items for our taste.

Pretty good hotel.
You need a car because the bus takes at least 20 minutes from the city.

You can run on the promenade ... when it's not raining.

Absolutely Everything about the hotel was amazing. Honestly, one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. The hotel is spotless. The staff are some of the best you'll ever have the pleasure of serving you, Alpha J in the bar, Queen Elizabeth, Daniel and Aaron in the breakfast area. Megan at reception for the welcome she gave us when we arrived. Niall in the bar. Managers, Roisin & Brian. The girl from Holland, never got her name, however she was sooooooooooo nice to us and has a fantastic personality. The whole setting was Amazing, we will Definitely be back to this hotel

I m going to give this 4 star due to the employees.
The pictures on their sight are misleading. I walked in our room and there was a BAD smell covered up with deodorizer. Come to find out they knew about it and thought it was gone. Asked to be moved and the only room available had smoke smell. The manager Phillip was extremely sorry and accommodating. We ended up going elsewhere.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights after being transferred hotels 3 times. I stayed with my friend who does not drive like myself. We had to get public transport everywhere which was very inconvenient for us. When we first arrived, we went into the bar to get a coffee as we were waiting to check in. I asked the lady in the bar do we have to order food to get an alcoholic drink. She laughed in our faces and rudely demanded what did we want? She also done this to another young couple who were next to us.
Our room was very dusty and looked like it had been thrown together. There was no kettle or did not have any tea or coffee.
We also tried to book for breakfast which we had paid for in advance but were told there was no availability until Sunday(we were leaving on saturday). We had to get breakfast out which was also very inconvenient and unprofessional as we had already paid for breakfast in the hotel. Personally i think that there should not be an option for breakfast included if there was not going to be any availability at all.
We went for dinner in the hotel bar on the Friday night. After our dinner and when we had paid, we were followed out of the hotel bar by who looked like the manager and said to us that we did not pay!! This was highly embarrassing for us as he said it in front of many other people. We then showed him the reciept and he did apologise at all. All he said was that the tab was not closed. I personally feel that the reason we were treated so badly was because of our age.
This service and treatment is so so unacceptable and i will never recommend to anyone to go there or go there myself again!
