Sailing the bay Monday with Dave was one of the highlights of my trip. He was such a knowledgeable Captain (and not bad on the eyes either). If you sail with this company make sure you request him!

I've gone out with SF Sailing Co twice now; once on a corporate outing, and once for pleasure. Both times were delightful. The staff were helpful and unpretentious, and the views of the bay are breathtaking. Plus, SF Sailing Co does offer the most competitive prices! I would highly recommend!
Greeted from Dock F at Pier 39 our party was made welcome by the 1st mate of the boat. We filed down the dock onto the boat and were seated for the ride. The captain explains how to behave on the boat, where you can and cannot sit and that drinks are available along with a marine toilet that he painstakingly explains its use. The tour price includes a sail around the bay circumnavigating Alcatraz Island and where weather permits visiting the Golden Gate bridge. The 1st mate along with looking after the sails and rigging for the captain serves drinks. They have various American beers, wines and soft drinks. The tour price includes two drinks of your choice. The tour is not accessible. #LetsGuide

Had fun hanging out with my friends, the bar tender (Guide) & Sailor Cap Dave they are too fun and friendly. Sadly Mostly was covered w/ smoke because of Fire but it was worth & life time experience. Highly recommend these folks.
Captain Dave made sure our experience was top notch! We opted for a private charter on the Bay for a Bachelorette Party on a boat called Between the Sheets, and it couldn't have been more fun. Dave was a terrific tour guide and had interesting and fun facts about sailing, ships vs. boats, and San Francisco history in general. We enjoyed spending quality time together while enjoying breathtaking views of the city. Thank you San Francisco Sail Co!
Team building- San Francisco Sailing Company understands teamwork and the benefits of a an experienced crew. There is no better way to develop a team than to set them to the task of operating a sailboat on the San Francisco Bay.
Communication: Each person is assigned a position on the boat. They are individually instructed on the names of the instruments they must use and how their position affects the boat and therefore the team. Positions can be assigned arbitrarily by the captain or self assigned to begin the communication process. Once each crew member understands his/her position and the team has performed some simple tasks such as tacking the boat, the positions are rotated. Each person must now communicate to the person taking over their job what the names of the equipment are and how to use them while learning their new position from someone else. This can be continued until each person has had a turn at the helm and hence the leadership role.
As the team develops some cohesiveness and understanding of the boat and each other we begin drills such as heaving to and Man Over Board. In the case of the MOB drill, the team must retrieve a float dropped into the water with the boat under sail. This is a difficult task and often requires several attempts. The team must work together with each position working in conjunction to achieve the goal. This is often the time when leaders emerge and bonds are forged.
Boat is not in very good condition. Too many people on the boat given COVID and social distancing. Weather was not good so the captain kept circuling around the area aimlessly. we never went to the Golden Gate bridge or Alcatraz so he would slow down to pass the time until the time was up.
If the weather was bad they should ve canceled instead of taking our money and not providing what we came to see. Nice guys but not the service bought and paid plenty for!
I did lessons, GG Sunset Sail, and joined for a club race night. All the above were 5 star experiences.
My instructor Captain Jeff was absolutely an amazing wealth of talent n knowledge.
So grateful to have chosen this school. I will definitely be doing a few more courses with this brilliant Captain, he is worth every penny. I look forward to receiving more of his wisdom.
Would highly recommend the the cruise aboard the Privateer of Santa Marie to anyone looking to get out on the water in SF. The entire staff of this company were friendly, fun, and skilled.
My husband and I went sailing with them for our 5 year anniversary. There aren't enough words to describe how awesome it was. The Captain and his First Mate Caleb were beyond awesome! Incredibly relaxing and fun experience that is definitely worth the money. The captain and his first mate/bartender we're incredibly courteous and knowledgeable and assured our group had a great time. The sailboat is beautiful and spacious and provides a great ride. Tour took us really close to Alcatraz as well and provides a ton of photo opportunities.

Wonderful sailing at the bay.
It starts from the Pier 39 on time and take us near the Golden Gate Bridge, run parallel with it and then comeback passing the Alcatraz Island before ending the sail. The total duration of the sail is 90 minutes.
Our Captain and his staff were friendly and entertaining. Complimentary drinks were given on the boat(beer or coke). It was a smooth sail.
We had a large group of 30 sailing together and it was fun and filled with excitement.
Advanced booking is available online which is very convenient.

This was my first time on a sailboat and it was an amazing experience! If you're thinking of sailing I'd recommend The San Francisco Sailing Company. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Our group felted welcomed and taken care of.
I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bringing a jacket, however the crew offers jackets if you forget yours.
The bathroom smelled so horrible! Wine was served from a paper Dixie cup. The experience was a disappointment.
I liked the sailing. The yacht is in good condition, skilled captain, attentive helper.
This was a fun ride. The boat leaves the marina under motor power, then the fun begins when they open the sails. Great views of the city on sunny days. Dress warmly because San Francisco Bay is cool and windy even during the summer.
Very full of fun sailing experience to be in water area of San Francisco. The route of sailing is very close to Al Catraz as well. You need to book it online in its website before you come to SF
A beautiful, wondrous ride, and dream come true. Remarkable sights, kind and accommodating crew! Wasn't crowded but WAS freezing cold (mid-February) and even though we were incredibly layered- bring gloves. Would have made a WORLD of difference. Wish I'd known or been advised, but otherwise, every question was answered and every desired view and picture was experienced and captured.
Amazing experience! Definitely go for the private option, as it can be customized to be whatever you want, from relaxing to learning about how to sail. Dave was our captain and so knowledgeable both about sailing and the city!
We had an excellent time on our cruise. You get to see the SF bay in a much cooler way and get up close to some of the sights rather than just touring on land.
The crew were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable.

We used a Groupon and went sailing with them last minute. This is something I have always wanted to do and they did not disappoint! You could tell the Captain had a lot of knowledge and experience, his First Mate Elliott was very outgoing and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. We had an absolute blast and saw the bay up close! So beautiful and a great price!
Looking for a reliable, well-run sailing tour company to take a group out to sail around the San Francisco Bay? The San Francisco Sailing Company is it. I have used this company two years in a row for a private charter excursion. Both times my party had a great time, with some attendees of the first year wanting to sail again this year. The largest sailboat, Santa Maria, has a capacity of 36 passengers with a captain and a first mate.
With a $50/pp ticket, you get two drinks (beer, soda, or bottled water) served during the 90 minute Sail (start from Pier 39, sail towards the GG Bridge, see the Marin Headlands /Sausalito from a distance, Alcatraz, Angel Island, and the SF skyline). Very relaxing. The 90 minutes goes by very quickly.
Both office staff and the sail crew are easy to work with, efficient, responsive. I highly recommend in a heartbeat using this company if you are looking to sail. They are also willing to custom tailor a sail tour if you are planning to have a private charter and will sail any of the 7 days in a week.
Had such an amazing time on this sunset sail! Such beautiful views of the Golden gate bridge, city skyline & Alcatraz. We even got to see a whale in the distance which was amazing! Highly recommend sailing if you re in the San Francisco area :)
Wow! What an amazing experience! I was a little reluctant being a passenger in a small boat that looked like could easily capsize but, it turned out to be a gorgeous and pristine tour of the Bay Area.

The amount of yachts and boats is incredible, you will have an excellent view of how they move with the waves of the sea. There are many people who board to try the experience of sailing in the sea, it looks very fun.
I loved the captain I had on my charter. The service was amazing and the view was even better. I'll make sure to bring an extra jacket on my next SFsailing adventure. I used thier online scheduling system and it was quick and easy.
