We went to visit the Tutankhamun exhibition which was fascinating.
Visited Tutankhamun in February . What an amazing aray of artifacts from the tomb. The gallery was a fitting place to house it.
Fantastic Exhibition of selected items fromTutankhamun's Tomb. Beautifully displayed and lit - not to be missed
Visited gallery to view the Tutankhamen exhibition. Sensational exhibition and a beautiful well run gallery. We'll worth a visit.
Very hot, crowded and badly organised. Signs were confusing.
Amazing gallery, free for all with the most ground breaking collections. I never come out the same as I went in.
Amazing venue free elderflower cordoual for those of us who do not drink .....this was us in the #kalodiscop
Do not miss the opportunity to visit it now. In the very interesting exposition in all the halls.
Stunning objects from the burial chamber of the King Tutankhamun. There was a long queue but the organization of the place managed to let us in as quick as possible. Be aware on some things, #1 if you go in winter, be prepared to be in the open waiting to get inside, it feels very cold in that space. #2, try to bring a small bag, because of the security check in the entrance, it will be easier and quick. #3, when you are inside, they only pass certain amount of people to see the beginning of the exhibition, which starts with a video, they close the curtain and run the video, but if you are at the back part of the room, you can't hear properly because there are people waiting outside chatting very loud. #4, the space is not that big, so, be considerate don't stay too long in one place, because there are many people trying to read or get a picture and there were some people chatting in front of the item, as if they were the only people there.Take into account that this is an amazing part of history that adults are gonna appreciate and enjoy a lot, much more than children, (I heard some crying, they wanted to go home) but if your children or teenagers love history, they are gonna be amazed.
AMAZING VR EXPERIENCE!!! 'We live in an ocean of air' was the best VR experience I have ever been to. Innovative technology was integrating your hands and respiration into the virtual world in the form of point clouds. You understand your full body and you can also see the rest of people in red and blue point clouds. I was very much impressed by the interaction you have with your environment, your movement was affecting the patterns and the flows within the virtual world. A must-see FSHO!
Great exhibition but very crowded inside so difficult to take the information in. Lots of school groups so very noisy
I don't like it, I tried to like it. But, it's not for me. There is contemporary art that I really dislike because, I don't enjoy it and get nothing out of it. If you like it, please go, don't let anyone stop you or put you off. There are people on one side of the spectrum who love and like it, however, I'm, on the other end of the spectrum who doesn't.
It's free to get into, I would suggest to try it once, if you walkout liking it, go again, because the gallery always being updated and if you leave not liking it, you know you've tried and can move on.
There are places to go to eat and drink and you can have your discussion with you partner or friends on where you stand with th art. As they say 'Discuss:'
Fantastically well presented exhibition of Tutankhamen. Good and clear descriptions. Wonderful artifacts. Do not miss this exhibition.
The exhibitions put on here are just brilliant! And although for some they time the entrance once in there is no pressure to leave so no need to worry that you will have to rush through. Last one I attended I was there 4 hours!
Having visited this weekend to see the Tutankhamun exhibition, I have to say that this was the worst exhibition experience I think I have ever had. The artefacts, some 3000 years old, are fascinating and exquisite - although there could have been more of them - but the experience was definitely one to forget.
The main issue is the number of people allowed in at any one time - you queue to get in - despite showing up at the allotted time - and of course they want to maximise their profits, but in the first few galleries in particular, you are packed in like sardines and trying to get close enough to see an item - let alone read the description, is a slow, frustrating game of waiting and waiting some more, and then inching forwards and getting slightly annoyed when someone less polite suddenly elbows you out of the way. The number of bodies in such a small space meant that the heat was often overwhelming and one lady who fainted was escorted through the crowds in a wheelchair.
The shop... seriously... just keep walking when you get to it. The tat on display far surpasses the level of tat usually available in museum shops. The exhibition catalogue would have been tempting, but the number of items on display is so few in comparison to the total artefacts found in the tomb that you would be better off buying another book elsewhere with richer content.
Overall, how could seeing items from Tutankhamun's tomb not be incredible? It is. But the Saatchi Gallery is not. Too focused on profits to think about the overall customer experience and the layout and flow of the exhibition was poor at best. Avoid.
Very well set out Tutanhuman exhibition. Pity the gift shop was full of over priced tat.
Beautiful building, outside has a huge place to sit down and enjoy the sun bath,
I'm not an expert for art, didn't have much inspiration from the painting and art thing there,
I can smell strong paint, not that fresh air in the gallery.
Surprisingly the gift shop is fun to hanging around, some interesting books to read, and the toilet is clean.
This is my fourth time to Saatchi gallery in less than 10 months. Because they always have different galleries every visit is very special. It is highly recommended for people who enjoy seeing different and unusual art pieces as I think it shows a-lot of unique artwork that is not usually exhibited in other places in London. Also, the gallery shop is a bonus! I love it.
Fantastic Tutankhamun exhibition, well worth a visit.
Amazing display, its worth getting the tickets online
The exhibition I went to was a bit strange, modern art, not my cup of tea but it was ok and the entrance free.
Saatchi Gallery where Gallery Mess Restaurant is located is a nice place for a meal. There is indoor and outdoor dining looking at very pleasant grounds. Food was fresh and good and service was good also. The leisurely lunch was very much enjoyed.
Beautifully organised and narrated exhibition of many artefacts from Tutenkamen's tomb. Each room in semi darkness with soft music and beautiful lighting of each item. But what ties them all magically together and brings them to life is the story telling of myths and superstitions skillfully interwoven with fascinating facts and history. Simply marvellous and well worth our journey from Lancashire and the overnight stay. I must also acknowledge the attention to disabled access throughout which made my wheelchair using husband's experience a pleasure instead of the usual ordeal. Superb.
World class art gallery! I highly reccomend visiting!
Very nice venue, go for special exhibitions. Free exhibitions never seem to be thar great...
Good location, easy to get to and the Tutankhamun exhibition was outstanding
It is a little expensive but we loved the Tutankhamun's exibition! I would recommend booking ahead of time and also choosing an earlier slot as it was absolutely packed when we went for our slot at 1:30pm on a Tuesday! I think they could up their game with the gift shop selection. Other museums/galleries in London such as the National Gallery, British Museum or V&A have AMAZING selections and I always end up buying something which is unlike me because I usually stay away from the usual gift shops!
Amazing virtual reality experience @ Saatchi Gallery. Closes 5th may
Queue was horrendous despite pre booking tickets. Volume of people inside was also horrendous, however last chance to see Tutankhamen before it goes back to ejypt forever so definitely worth it.
Lovely day out with an abstract feature. Wholesomely Recommend
Quiet, clean, has a kids area and a place to eat your own food.
A great venue, there's an eatery on site if somewhat pricey. The Tutenhamun exhibition was well presented and excellent.
Went to a really interesting exhibition here, thoroughly enjoyed
The Saatchi Gallery, located in the Chelsea neighborhood, is famous for presenting the best of contemporary art, often works by unknown but rapidly gaining authors. Being contemporary art it is necessary to go with a very "open" spirit if you are not expert in this area, for what we find at first glance may not be easy to absorb. The works are exhibited in several galleries divided over 3 floors. It is worth taking a detour from Kings Road to pay a visit. Free entrance.
Tutankhamen exhibition was superb, beautiful artefacts and well presented history - a little crowded but well worth a visit
The Saatchi will never be everyone's cup of tea, but it will always sit proudly as my favourite gallery in London.
The art on display is extremely varied from one visit to another. Although you're bound to enjoy some visits more than others, every time you go you feel like you see something new and interesting. This is helped by the fact that you're able to get so close up to each piece, taking each and every paint splat, pixel, cm. You absolutely shouldn't lick the work but you could definitely get close enough to do so.
Speaking logistically, the gallery is in a pleasant area and is free to enter. The cloakroom is also free to use and the staff are more than happy to help. The gallery itself is small so you're able to get round in a good amount of time. It takes me around two hours but I faff and read and take bench breaks.
All in all, if you're looking to feel just that slight bit more cultured, for free, you could do worse.
I didn't look it up, but it seems that it's closed until February 28th. As soon as I arrived at the gallery, I shrugged off a passerby saying, "It's closed." I want to go there again someday.
I went there for the I-made 'italian furniture exhibition' with payment. But I didn't think it's worth to pay about 14pounds. Too commercially luxury just for the niche target of rich locals.
Great gallery in beautiful area, not as busy as the other spots in London
My first visit - so impressed by both the work on show and the lovely exhibition spaces.
Excellent Tutankhamun exhibition, great friendly helpful staff
Average place in London gallery map. They have a great space to show exhibitions.
Tutankhamun exhib was stunning. Layout and accessibility to items was first class and lighting excellent for viewing and photography. Final exhibit is well staged for maximum impact. A never to be repeated opportunity.
Enjoyed the exhibition however a Tutankhamun exhibition isnt the same without the death mask and sarcophagus and other items i was expecting. Unless it was written some where that these weren't going to be displayed and i missed it i feel the exhibition is a bit miss leading.
Still worth going to see it
Really enjoyed the tutankhamun exhibition, very well organised. Plenty of time to see it all
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. It's not quite as spectacular as, say, the Tate Modern but it's still impressive! Remember that it's modern art so you'll have to put on your pretentious hat before you enter... Try to take everything with a pinch of salt!
If I could have rated it Zero I would have. Nice building though, to be fair.
Great free gallery option in the city. Interesting collection, really friendly staff, and quite simply a really enjoyable space to while away a few hours.
Out of this world ...
Awesome . Amazing . Learned so much took me 3000 years ago and coming face to face with all this treasures from this amazing king from the past . Thank you
Find some of the young gallery staff cold and lacking in warm customer service as if I'm bothering them when asking for help. Although I found the guy on the desk who took my ticket details very helpful and pleasent.
Loved my first visit to the Saatchi Gallery for the 'selfies' exhibition. Wish I'd had longer but what I saw was well displayed, witty and stimulating.
We had a blast, such amazing pieces of art.
But just a warning once you enter the gift shop the woman on the till hates her life and job don't be afraid its just her being her
Went to see Tutenkhamun exhibition, very interesting. Well organised, good facilities. Easy to get to.
A quirky, modern museum that you can go through quickly if you are trying to cram a lot of activities into one day.
