Go see Rae at the Ballard location. Brilliant fashion designer who will take your ideas and bring them to life.. And if those ideas are horrible, she'll make them great.

Even if you don't choose her, I've spent 8 years in Seattle and the Rudy's Ballard location has always served me well. Even before I discovered Rae a year and a half ago, I've always come to this location. That's with experience of other Rudy's shops as well as much (read stupidly) higher end shops.

Great shop with great people. You'll fall in love with Rudy's. I can't see myself changing, even if my favorite stylist walked away.

Appointments start on time, are reasonably priced for Seattle and my stylist, John S, does a consistently amazing job each time! Can't go wrong coming here!

Very unreliable cuts. I've gone here several times with good results, but other times, the barbers would forget to cut certain areas, leaving my hair hella uneven. Other times, its cut far shorter than what I asked for. Horrible.

This was my barber when I was living in Seattle.
Pros: Really convenient online scheduling system. Great location
Cons: Hit or miss depending on who you get. And even though they have the online scheduling system, there's no profile picture for each stylist so I couldn't remember the name of the person who did my hair well (I have a weird hair texture). They also always charged me the price of a short cut despite doing only the work of a clipper cut which annoyed me. I also had a really bad experience where I came in a half an hour before they were to close with no appointments (they say walk-ins welcome) because I finally decided to have my head shaved when my hair started falling out from chemotherapy. The woman who I ended up having acted so annoyed because I said "I have sort of a complicated situation" trying to be delicate and also still feeling very embarrassed about my hair falling out.

If this is convenient to you and you don't mind the price, it's a fine place. Otherwise, I prefer Raven just down the street.

Went in during the middle of Rush Hour and they handled everything great. Got a good cut, however the price is a little on the steep side.

The stylist I had was awesome, she cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. Will be going back there when I need another cut.

I've been coming to Rudy's on the Hill for many years now. I enjoy the people, and the prices are good. However, this last cut was very disappointing. I had a photo of an old hair cut I had gotten, from Rudy's, and the hair stylist butchered my hair. It looks absolutely nothing like the photo. In fact it wasn't at all even. I'll be choosing a different business next time.

I was rushed and I was told they were sorry I was being rushed! I was not heard well when my hair were getting cut. I am having to go to another salon to fix my haircut.

A week ago Lauren M. gave me the best haircut I've had since moving to Seattle 20 years ago. It was a brand new style for me and she nailed it after seeing two photos of my target style. Incredible talent.

Amazing Job my hair looks amazing but the price was a Joke $40 only to cut a little bit of the sides and the back part just that.

Edit: After seeing my review, Rudy's on Capitol Hill offered me a free consultation and apologized for the unfortunate experience.
They were cordial and polite. I believe it's safe to say that this was hopefully a one-time bad haircut, and I do plan to come back to Rudy's on Pine. I am happy with how they handled the situation, thank you Rudy's.

I have been to Rudy's on Capitol Hill several times and have had, in general, good experiences there. This time however I went in for a routine clean-up right before an important event, and came out with one of the worst haircuts I have ever received. My stylist did not listen to what I was looking for, and cut my long hair and bangs unrecognizably short and so quickly I didn't have time to say anything. I feel upset about my hair, and ignored by my stylist. I am surprised by the result after years of good service from Rudy's, and am wary about going back.

Great place to have a haircut. Call me snobish, buy I'm used to Aveda salons. So I came here with a bit of hesitation. Nevertheless I was happily surprised by the high professionalism and the fantastic job they did with my hear. Sarah is great - she performed a miracle haha. I also loved their hair products.

Want a cute cheap haircut given by the most motley crew of tattooed hipster punks? This is your spot! The ambience is amazing--dark, edgy, cool. The cuts are solid and ridiculously affordable given going rates for women's haircuts (they do great men's cuts too). And you can walk in without an appointment and wait for a stylist. They also have a killer selection of products, including Bumble & Bumble. I heart Rudy's.

I could cut my own bangs much better than what I got at this Salon. It was absolutely the worst I have ever had and its impossible to pay another hair salon to fix it because it's too short now. I just have to wait until it's grown more again :((

Needed a haircut while in town for Peal Jam from Detroit. Needed an appointment, but was able to get in the very next morning. Great cut and I'm very happy with the look!

I got my haircut from John, and I was really satisfied with the haircut. It was done just the way I wanted it.

Reasonable barber/salon. Prices are fair and it's really nice to be able to make same day appointments.

Haircut is not exceptional but ok and convenient as I live nearby. but they really don't care about peoples time. In happened twice in a row where I have an appointment and they don't respect it at all. So if you do not value your time this place should be fine for you.

Yesterday was the where I arrive at my scheduled time and I wait for almost 15 minutes. I go to ask the person at the desk why nobody is coming and she without saying sorry or anything for the wait or anything is just oh the hair cutter is still busy with another customer but she will come. Then I go and wait another 15 minutes and still nobody comes so I just leave. And like I said it happened the previous time also.

Giving 2 stars for not respecting peoples time and for the bad attitude to customers. I'll be tacking my business somewhere else since here they don't really seem to care.

Went back for a slight correction of an existing cut and was charged $10. Was not the right thing to do. Will go elsewhere

Rudy's is AWESOME! Every time I went I asked for Gabriel. I would recommend it if you want a nice little trim. Would definitely recommend it to men and women and for children.

Rudy's is definitely a trip: From the awesome atmosphere to the down-to-earth staff, it feels comfortable to come in and take care of your hair or get a shave. Or, if your like me, get both.

This is where I always get my haircut. I go out of my way to bus from greenlake to come to the original Pine Street Rudy's. Always judge a barber by how their hair looks, and all the Rudy's barber's have the best hairstyles. Skip the usual tech bro doo and get a mullet.

When I went to pay, I was charged for a long haircut instead of a short one with no explanation. I have been to Rudy's several times before and always booked a short haircut with no issue before now. The person cutting my hair also seemed extremely rushed, kept yanking on my ear piercing with the comb, didn't offer the usual shampoo option, etc. I arrived on time for my appointment and we were finished before the 30 minutes were up, so I have no idea why everything was so hurried and I was charged for a 45-min appointment that I did not receive. The entire experience was extremely unpleasant and I will be finding a different place to get my next haircut.

Called in at 10:31 AM on 12/15 for advice on a barber. First time they hung up on me. Second time they picked up the phone, put me on hold without saying anything. After being on hold for 10 minuets I hung up and called back. Front desk girl had a very rude tone and immediately told me I could book on the website instead of calling in. I told her that I was calling in to get advice on a barber but when her rude tone continued I decided not use Rudy's. I gave her this feedback on the phone. I guess their name has a double meaning.

I think the price is on the high end for what you get. Although, this hasn't stopped from coming back. It certainly has mass appeal due to its atmosphere and consistent quality.

Great place to get a haircut. A bit expensive for a mens short haircut but great quality

was a walk-in, got a great buzz cut (quick, waited 12 minutes), and a beard tune-up before a wedding. highly recommended! You can grab a beer from the reception area as well while you wait.

A bastion on Captiol hill. The quality of the haircut really depends on who you get as your barber/stylist, but I've had a couple great haircuts here.

Obsessed. In love. Best cut and color I've had in my life by Andrew. He took me to the most beautiful and impossible to attain white-blonde. Wouldn't trust anyone else. And he's an absolute delight to be around. Still feel like a princess. THANK YOU!

This is the only Rudy s I ll go to from now on. This locations stylists are great, they always deliver exactly what I want.

I was so happy with my blow-out and style I received from Kaylie at the Capitol Hill Rudy's! I was really nervous about an event I was heading to, and she made me feel like a extra pretty confident version of myself. I have a unique cut and dye job, but she handled it like an expert. It was reasonably priced too! I called ahead to put my name on the list, which made my wait only about 10 minutes, and I was in and out in about an hour. 10/10 would blow again!

Walk-ins welcome. So I went in for a much needed cut and got a consult on color. Lauren looked at my pics, listened to my requests, came up with a pro plan, and gave me a killer fade with the clippers. My follow-up color was superb and fast. I look great and I will be back for my touch ups. Thanks Lauren.

Worst haircut, specifically asked for layered bob that dusted the collarbone but was given a straight cut with no layers. Specifically asked to NOT have chin length and now hair is barely longer that ear lobes when wet, as my hair gets curly as it dries it is so short I cannot do anything with it and just have to wait for it to grow. Dont see Ronnie, she clearly doesn't listen and will butcher you hair

The people are nice but my haircut was not the best. I felt like it was overpriced for the quality of cut that I got. I wish that for that price I would at least get free neck touchups in between.

My hair was cut while it was dry and not straight (it was curled from the night before). I wanted my hair cut to be even (straight across) and now I m left with an uneven length. I wanted my hair parted in the middle and my side bangs to be blended. They are just as jagged. The end result was a side part, which I never expressed I wanted. If I wanted a poor haircut I would ve done it myself. Should have just paid more money for Gene Juarez.

I went here 4 times, I thought that the place was amazing until I found a better place like Great Clips. The last time I went into Rudys was on the weekend and I was not free to get out of Seattle so I needed a haircut but though Rudy is a hippy and trendy place for youths to go. I think that the hairstylist are not very experienced in cutting proper clean&neat looking hair. I was expecting just a clean&neat hair makeover. Other than that, the staffs are really polite and cheerful. The products are amazing especially the hawaiian scented medium hold pomade is my favorite!!

It's really hit or miss depending on who you get to cut your hair. Also, it's creepy since they started collecting your name and such for a walk in haircut.

This is the second time that I've had a Rudy stylist not blow out my hair to let my curls naturally form, only to later (when dry) find that they cut my hair inches shorter than we agreed. This is a real freaking bummer when this area is your bangs.

This is my lesson. I'll tell them to blow it out from now on. I thought we were on the same page, but I should have been more clear or brought a diagram.
