My mother Jean Lawson Howard was a residence here. The staff and administration was excellent! The food was excellent! I don't like the small rooms and bathrooms but overall I was pleased with my mother care.

My father was at Royal Oaks after a car accident, while the nurses were great, the admin staff was awful. No one returned my calls, I was forever chasing them. They said they would do a once a week meeting to discuss my Dad's progress, that happened once, I had to call and chase down people after that. The nurses were so wonderful and caring, they were great with my Dad. There were some decisions made on his medications that I was not informed about, causing Dad alot of side effects which I was very unhappy about.
I have had a wonderful opportunity to work with the CNA concierge Cecilia and she is absolutely amazing. She took her time to explain the admission process, and takes care of all needs, unconditionally. This caring person makes you feel comfortable, and safe. The rehab team is amazing, as well, they have had such amazing turn around results. Such an awesome facility.
Yes, I have the same problem. They are locked down since March 2020 and it's now January 2021. They haven't returned my emails either for that 10 months. Telephoning isn't any help as the people answering the phone claim they aren't informed. Impossible to get information.
The first time I was sent to Royal Oaks after a hospital stay for physical therapy. I was only there for 10 days because my insurance company wouldn't pay any longer. The physical therapy and the therapists were wonderful .The staff and the nurses were there any time I needed them. The physical therapy did me a lot of good and I was sorry I couldn't stay longer. I wished I had known about this place when my mother was transferred to several different nursing facilities that were not to be compared to this one .I would have recommended Royal Oak to anyone . The next time...not so good. Everything has gone way downhill and continues to get worse daily. The food sucks. The food choices suck worse. The majority of the patients say they can't wait to be released and the majority of the people who work with the "inmates" are unhappy to say the least. I still think that the therapy team is very good and most of the nurses and CNAs are caring and put up with a lot from the upper management and from some of the residents because they truly love to help and care for people. It's sad that they are not given the respect they deserve. Royal Oak is more like a correctional facility than a nursing home. It's not a pleasant environment for the residents or the workers. I would no longer recommend that place for anyone other than someone who is only going to be there for a week or two for physical therapy.
This is not a prison. Let us visit our loved ones! Other retirement homes are allowing visits!!! Treating old people like prisoners will not help them be healthy! Don't leave a response for me to call "admin" just so I can be told you don't know when visitation will resume.
I am so pleased with the quality of care proved by the Royal Oaks staff. Everyone there has been exceptionally helpful and kind. The staff is knowledgeable and professional. They have great attitudes and work hard to ensure patients get the care they need and are engaged in activities and making progress. Mom can't be home with us right now, but she is in the next best place and getting the best care. I am so thankful for the help of all the compassionate and caring folks at Royal Oaks Nursing Center.
October 22, 2020 Florida lifted covid resrtictions on nursing homes but this one still doesn't allow visitors. The staff doesn't return email form inquiries since the crisis started. They need to place a note next to their web form that they don't reply.
A family friend s husband was transferred there about a month ago after the family was given the option to try rehab but was assured they would need hospice. They were amazed when he walked out of the building after successfully completing rehab, stronger than he had been in years and carrying his own bags while barely using a cane. They truly appreciated both the level of care and the amount of regular communication received from the whole care team at the facility including regular care meetings. We are blessed to have this facility in our community!
