All issues we had with the cleaning and the reception had totally ruined our experience at the Royal Mail hotel. The food is amazing, the chef is so good. I will recommend to have a dinner there BUT not to stay for this price regarding the quality. I have some pictures on my phone share if necessary

From the moment my wife and I arrived at" The Royal Mail"we felt at home. We stayed in the room with the garden view. The room was moderns , spacious, clean and very homely. The bathroom was very spacious and clean . There was tea and coffee upon arrival but maybe next time they could leave a couple of cookies for the guest as well. Will definitely be returning in the future!

Ate at Parker St Project. The beer battered flathead was very tasty, it came with chips and salad so was a decent sized serving. My partner had the quarter bannockburn chicken, also a decent size. The chicken skin was on the salty side but didn't detract from the rest of the dish. Service was quick and friendly

The beetroot dish was outstanding, the earthiness of the beetroot complimented by the goats cheese. The crumbed garfish is yummy, but be careful of the small bones. It s not the easiest dish to eat. The lamb ribs is a bargain at $8 for 4 pcs of ribs, but it was chewy. Another outstanding dish was the charred broccoli. The miso dressing packed a lot of umami which was perfect for the chariness of the broccoli. The other dishes were acceptable.

My wife I decided to have a getaway week in Falls Gap. Beautiful scenary, lovely accommodation and some good walks and a beaut zoo. But come to eaterys and service and you hit rock bottom. Especially if you have dietary requirements. So after a dismal failure with a Halls Gap restaurant we decided to brave the 40 min trip on kangaroo infested roads to a small place called Dunkeld. We stopped in at the Royal Mail hotel and were able to eat there. We missed out with no booking the restaurant at the rear but the front eatery was a pleasant surprise. Despite a confusing share menu a very understanding young waitress was able to speak to the accommodating chefs and we enjoyed a first class meal with first service. The food was awesome. I watched the kitchen staff run very professionally dishing out excellently presented food with tonnes of flavour. My wife had a perfectly cooked sirloin and I was left wanting more pork belly. And all this in a town of only 600. It would leave many restaurants in Melbourne to shame. Bravo Parker Street Project! I highly recommend this place!

We had the best time - thank you so much. Dinner on Saturday night was fantastic - food, staff, wine and atmosphere were exceptional. 2 years ago we went to Brae - and our experience this weekend - and especially the food - far outshone our Brae experience. We will be back for our anniversary next year - guaranteed.

Food good, service from our waitress good, but so disappointed with the somelliere ! We had to ask for our glasses to be filled twice and weren't given the opportunity to sample after opening our bottle of wine !?!?
Breakfast was really lovely but again some service not good had to ask for coffee and salt and pepper just not up to standard

Our stay at The Royal Mail Hotel was absolutely perfect. A true relaxation in some of the most beautiful countryside. The hotel design does justice to the landscape; the staff are all very welcoming and helpful; the walks in the area are great for people of any level of bushwalking experience; the food in the hatted restaurant is some of the best I've ever had, and I would absolutely stay here again. Relaxation+

We had a memorable stay at Royal Mail Hotel - excellent service, wonderful amenities, loved the apartment location and spaciousness, really enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu with matching wines. We were offered a choice between Australian and other wines after we commented there were not many Australian wines on the list. As it turns out we preferred the Australian wines.

Really enjoyed our stay at the beautiful Royal Mail Hotel. The reason we were drawn there was the dining experience at the restaurant, which was amazing. Our waiter was very engaging (sorry can't remember his name but he was French!) and the little meeting with Robin in the kitchen was quite unique and insightful. Food was amazing too - more of the carrot cake please! My partner really enjoyed his matched wines. I wish Robin and the team all the best as they have a really great restaurant on their hands.

Parker st project was one of the biggest rip offs of my life, the food was 70% salad because apparently we dont get to choose the courses and after we get the bill they charged us 5 more drinks then we ordered. Pretty poor table service as well

Amazing! the whole experience was just lovely. The rooms are indulgent, surrounded by nature, with the cafe and restaurant of high quality, and the staff very personable and responsive. At the foot of the grampians it was a shame I was there for work and couldn't explore!

We stayed at the Royal Mail Mt Sturgeon Cottages.....

We stayed at the Royal Mail Mt Sturgeon Cottages...what a lovely place! We were isolated and felt like we were back in old drover times. Beautiful traditional cottage with renovated facilities.

The place was so picturesque and peaceful, we wish we could have stayed there for longer.

Highly recommended as it was one of the best accommodations in the world that I have stayed in.

NOTE: The degustation meal was a once off experience. It was definitely an experience. But will not go back. They provided a gluten free, vegetarian degustation for my wife. Thank you.
As a side, one waitress was a bit rude with regards to my drink order. For her information, we both pronounced "Quilmes" incorrectly, mine was closer to the correct way of saying it.

A lovely place to stay and a good base for exploring the Grampians.

Excellent breakfast and a well-appointed room.

Food in the bar was a little disappointing though. It wasn't bad, but not really up to the standards of a foodie destination. To be honest, it put us off trying the Bistro or Restaurant the following night.

This was one of the highlights of our road trip. Superb room, super comfortable and magnificently fitted out. We are renovating, so really appreciated the comfort. The little extras like T2 teabags and complimentary newspaper delivered to our door were a lovely touch thanks. We opted to eat in the bistro and loved it, although it was a bit quiet - music was eventually switched on. Can imagine how cosy it would be with a roaring fire in winter. Highlight of breakfast was wonderful waitress and delicious local sheep milk yoghurt. Thanks - a wonderful stay!

There was no wow factor in food in the Dinning Room. However, our various dietary requirements were catered well. The whites in the Cellar List was better than the reds. The Shiraz was excellent but the rest of the reds were average. I supposed it is a matter of taste, we prefer the bolder reds.

The food and service in the Parker Street Project were excellent. I would go back again.

The Stone Cottages were relaxing and have great views. Service was excellent. We appreciated the transport to and back from the restaurants.

Had heard much about the hotel and restaurant and we were certainly not disappointed by any aspect of our experience. Our room was beautifully appointed and furnished with a spectacular view to Mt Sturgeon and Mt Abrupt. Our meal with matching wines was exceptional and the service from our French waiter was impeccable. We will certainly return to The Royal Mail Hotel.

An amazing hotel to stay at. Very chic. The dinning and wine selection is of a very exclusive standard. The degustation selection was amazing. Hotel is orientated to more the elite clientele or a one off romantic weekend. For us, it was way out of our budget but an enjoyable experience. Would dearly love to stay again, however, it was just too pricey for us. The rooms are great just the dinning options in Dunkeld were limited. I commend the owner and staff for having a luxury hotel like this in the Grampians. It is a great weekend get away for the right clientele.

The reception staff were very accommodating after the initial mistake in booking. We were extremely happy to get a room as it was the trail run weekend and accommodation was scarce. Thank you for that.

One of the best hotels we've ever been. The staff is lovely and very much willing to help. The rooms are nice, we loved room 10 since it has a bit more privacy on the terrace due to a view bushes blocking direct view from the pool.
The restaurant was amazing! Most of their veggies grow in their own garden. Also they have a huge wine selection (I think it's the biggest in the southern hemisphere). We loved it very much and can only recommend staying at Royal Mail hotel!

Stayed in the Royal Mail for 3 nights in the Garden View Rooms. Room was a good size and has a small fridge and basic Tea and coffee making facilities,TV,AC,a nice bathroom(without a bath). Good for the price. Ate in the Bar 1 night and the food was pretty average but I didnt expect much from pub grub. The main restaurant was great. Food was well thought out and looked and tasted amazing. The fresh fennel and raisin bread is delicious and worth trying.Desserts were a bit lacking for me, they could do with adding a proper chocolate dessert to the menu. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and is held in the main restaurant. The breakfast itself was very good and had a pretty good selection of cereals, fresh and cooked fruit, bread, sheeps yogurt, juices(one was a mix of fresh fruit and veg and was great),some pastries and filter coffee and tea. Its worth getting to breakfast early if you want a freshly baked croissant. They also provide a full menu of cooked breakfast and normal cafe type coffees(All at an extra cost). Location is very scenic and a 1 hours drive to Halls gap and the notable wineries. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Will be back

We had a lovely stay at Royal Mail Hotel. The only issue we had was the slowness of the service in the restaurant when we did the degustation at Wickens. We did the 5 course degustation and it took 4 hours - we arrived at 6.30pm and left at 10.30pm. The restaurant had only recently opened though so that could have been a factor. The food and wine was amazing though - overall a lovely stay and would definitely recommend to friends and family.

My hotel room was lovely and your receptionists were very helpful and friendly. My first night's dinner experience was less than terrific. Although it was late, the dining room was very crowded (it was the holiday weekend to be fair). There was a very long wait for a table. Once seated, it took a long time for someone to take my order. There was an extremely drunk and loud large party that made the meal anything but relaxing. I didn't care for my food selection. My next night's experience was very different. Much quieter. I was seated and served quickly. My meal was delicious. That's what is meant by timing is everything. All in all, a very nice hotel that I would certainly recommend to my friends.

Enjoyed our stay immensely. The room was very good, spacious, well appointed, clean & well equipped, with a great view of the Grampians

Sitting in the dining room was akin to sitting in a bus station waiting room corridor, that apart the food was excellent, the staff were very friendly & the head waiter was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, specifically with wine selection

I would definitely return!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The accommodation was excellent with a beautiful outlook of Mt Sturgen.
The dinning in the restaurant on both nights was fabulous.

The Parker St Project dinning was good for a casual meal. However the duck with risotto had too much salt in the risotto. I don't like so much salt and it's not healthy to eat high amounts of salt. Salt kills the natural flavours.

We had two nights in cottage number 5 and 6. Beautifully situated on the estate that belongs to the hotel but about 2 kilometers from the hotel. In the middle of nature. Especially around sunset the kangaroos reach the garden of the cottages. From the cottages you can also take a walk directly on the estate that borders on the Grampians nature park. Really recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Royal Mail. It was such a nice surprise, great location, close to so many places. Spending time in our room with a view was relaxing and so was sharing a good quality drink in the Parker Street Project-the staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful in this part of the hotel. Our evening meals in the Parker Street Project were fabulous quality and value-the hot bread was delicious.

Although we were both not 100% healthy we had a nice time at the Royal Mail. The cottages are lovely with a great outlook and very quiet. The staff were great always looking to help in any way they could. We felt that using the cottage garden is probably their biggest strength but also their biggest weakness. The food while good was all very similar, even though different produce was used. The food was quite rich and the artichoke desert was very, very rich. Technique was very good, but there was no use of grains or pulses through the meal which when one of us was a vegetarian was unusual. Overall we had a good weekend, but it wasn't perfect.

After the tasting menu (which is incredible), you'll likely need a bit of a lie down. The rooms are nicely appointed and the bed comfortable. Enjoy mountain views from your own balcony and scenic walks just a few steps from from your door.
Again, the food is bliss.

We booked a night and degustation package on the advice of friends who had stayed there a few years earlier. Our room was expensive for what it was, over $350 / night for a small room. However were happy with it given our anticipation of the evening ahead! We were booked for a 7.30pm start, selected the 8 course degustation accompanied by cellar wines. We didn t receive our first course until 8.45, and our first alcoholic drink was served at 8.30! We did receive complementary nibbles earlier and should have left there and then. The food was terrible as to was the wine selected by the sommelier to accompany meals. Some courses we did not eat, and some wine from remote regions of the world tasted disgusting. We are not fussy eaters and are well traveled so we were not harsh in our deliberations. One table close to us had the wrong course bought out for them during the night, and then had to wait 45 minutes for a replacement. By 12.00 we were only at course 6 and were totally fed up, tired and felt ill from the food. At 12.45am we were served our final course!! Neither of us felt well, and were unable to sleep due to feeling unwell and extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with our experience. We had spent over $1000 on food and accommodation for one night that left us feeling like that was 24 hours we wouldn t get back.
