In my final year of study here and I have to say it has been a great 3 years.
The grounds are beautiful and having the mix of new buildings, forests and the great looking founders building is something you won't get at other universities.
Staff are very friendly and offer support wherever they can, be it academic or something else.
In my first year I stayed in the uni's accommodation which was really nice. Having all the blocks close together gave a very warm community feel and it meant that the friends you made were only a couple minutes of a walk away.
As for the nightlife, being located in Egham means you've only got the union as a club unless you want to take an uber to Windsor for their clubs. The SU is ok. In first year I found myself enjoying it a lot more than I do now and in fact for my third year I have only been out twice compared to going about practically every night in my first year. I guess it's more so to do with me not enjoyed clubbing as much in general as a pose to the SU itself.
Overall I've had a really positive experience here at Royal Holloway and will be sad to leave but glad that I have so many wonderful memories!

Beautiful building to look visit. Stunning architecture. Huge park around it, peaceful and quiet. The square inside with the statue is a perfect place to take nice images. You can walk a around and look at all the tiny details of the beautiful roof and windows. I will definitely visit this place again in the future.

Royal Holloway is a place that will always have a special place in my heart.
The campus is beautiful, there are pubs, coffee places, restaurants, a few libraries. Pretty much all that a student needs.
I had great years whilst student there and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Ranking wise, may not be the best. But if you re looking to have a good time and not just get a degree - this is the place to go to.

It's difficult recommending Royal Horroway for a degree: it's not safe, and it doesn't pay off. Some teachers are supportive, but some totally bully and harass students and absolutely no one stands up for you. Very toxic environment to study in. If you bother reading the rest of the reviews, they all praise the university for its exterior appearance - their (major) selling point. Now go inside and see that the interior looks like a horrendously outdated school, complete with out of touch and anti-students teachers.

I am currently studying my MBA here. Good location, just west of london. The arts department is wonderful. campus is lovely, with a very diverse group of students. very, very good option if you can't afford the likes of oxford, lbs, or lse.

Very beautiful campus, strolling around the campus makes people feel peaceful. Came here to attend the conference and felt very comfortable. There are also beer bars on campus. Drinking at the campus bars is a rare and interesting experience.

One of the most overrating and worst university in the UK
Poor teaching quality
Cold treatment to ethnic minority
Short-minded people
Lack of appreciation to other different cultures
Administration and department level procedure are messed up
No strict academic criteria - miss all in-class tests and term assignments you can still graduate
Awful job perspective - people just don't train their abilities in this uni

Never be a top school with top people

There is so much potential for Royal Holloway and for the most of it, that potential is met.

Academic-wise the uni is known for producing top notch graduates and for having excellent teachers. My mentor Dr Jay Mistry under the MSc Practising Sustainable Development degree was more than helpful - she was an inspiration! Pushed me when I needed it but was also gentle when I felt burnt out - and with a plethora of practical experience and an enormous amount of theoretical know-how I was in great hands.

For someone like me who likes to have a place of my own while taking my postgraduate degree, the housing nearby is affordable enough. Groceries from Tesco, post office was near, every basic thing you need is nearby. For entertainment though you need to go to London. Thankfully, the Egham train station is just about a kilometer away from the Uni and I was able to get housing in between the Uni back gate and the train station - so it was perfect.

The unique blend of having a campus and being near enough London as well as Heathrow - gives you that good balance of time to study, time to relax, time to go to London for fun and excitement.

I give the Uni 4.5 stars only because of the unmet potential which include upgrading facilities and also increasing linkages with local and London-based institutions to increase academic activities and engagement. More institutional engagement with my country would be great as well.

The campus is astonishingly beautiful! The main building is modelled after the French Chateau de Chambord in France and if you've been in it, it is EXTREMELY elegant. The other buildings are more modern, but compared to the main administration building is a sight to be seen. The Library is also gorgeous. Visually Royal Holloway is such a picturesque place; It has wooded areas and such a country feel, only 19 miles from London, the education is of a high quality, but coming from a US university, the teaching and marking method is much different.

My sister (the daughter of the widower) just went to school today. She said that her residence is not bad. It s true that you guessed it. I am her brother (one of the concerns)

But I hope she can study hard and find more time to return (we are in Hove)

Despite its good appeal, it had poor administration process. The same documents were asked twice if not triple. One of my referees never got contracted from the university when the other one was and it was before I even submitted my application. I had to follow up everything. So, frustrated. Finally, went to other university which staff was more responsible and worked a lot faster.

Excellent scenery, friendly staff. Some of the university floors have been refurbished and some are currently in progress. The facilities nearby are also wonderful. One the best universities in the UK.

10 of 10. Incredible facilities. The main building is spectacular. It is a very safe university, with a very good atmosphere. The students have great help and facilities from the faculty, to make their day to day and their studies more effective.

The beginning has been catastrophic, it's not like school, a lot of things is very unclear especially when you are a foreigner student and you don't know the system here and help is not always easy to find because of the size of the uni.
However after 2 years I can say that it has been an amazing experience, the University is very proactive for its students, they propose a lot of activities, often cheaper (sport, market, conferences etc) ; teachers are great and very helpful ; life on campus is really nice and there are a lot of foreigner students so you're not alone if you're not English, and the University deals well with foreigner students.
The real negative aspect is that you're absolutely not in London, you're at 1h in train frome the center

Having been studying here for three years I've enjoyed the grounds very much. Its a beautiful campus, large enough not to get too cramped with students and has a village sort of feeling. Visitors are very welcome too, and there are often tours being given around for exchange students.

An important thing to note is that this campus is very wheelcheer accessible friendly. There are ramps and lifts in Founders and room for wheelchairs in the new library too. There are also specificly designed fire alarms in place that contain lights for deaf students too.

Some of the best features around the grounds include the pond, the field and the tennis courts, where there is a bus stop right outside to take students to other areas or into town. One negative aspect to consider is that the clock tower at Founders chimes every hour even in the night which may be disruptive for some, but it's not an unpleasant noise and is quickly gotten used to.

Recently they have renovated a lot of the old buildings, the boiler House cafe included. It is much larger now containing more food and beverages, outside seating spaces, larger toilets and even further decorations. This has changed from a small spot to grab a quick sandwhich to a place where many students stay and sit for lunch, and is now one of the main eateries on campus.
