Have a very early version of the Fowler, and it has performed very well over the years I have run it, and at times it has been worked hard. I have always been able to get advice and (rarely) spares to keep it running properly.

What can I say. I m now waiting to pick up my 26th Roundhouse Locomotive. I ve been collecting Roundhouse products for over 30 years. To my mind they are unparalleled in both live steam and battery powered locomotives. Build quality is superb and reliability is unsurpassed. Many thanks Roundhouse.

Top place to go for 16mm garden railway live steam locomotives

I have been a customer of Roundhouse Engineering for nearly 20 years. I have purchased ready-to-run locomotive chassis as well as individual parts and assemblies. I have scratchbuilt four locomotives (I own three of them)using their components and have found their products to be of absolutely the highest quality as well as being extremely robust. There is a saying in the live steam hobby that a locomotive "Runs like a Roundhouse" meaning that it is a smooth and powerful runner with minimal maintenance requirements.

All of my locomotives are scratchbuilt American prototypes and three contain Roundhouse core components such as cylinders, valve gear, in one case a boiler as well as steam fittings for all of them. None of them bear any resemblance to any locomotive ever produced by Roundhouse but thanks to their fine components, they run as well as anything to come from their factory.

Parts do wear over time, (some of my locos are nearly 20 years old and still run frequently) and the service and support from Roundhouse is simply topnotch. I can get parts and advice any time needed, and service is always with a smile. I am very happy I chose Roundhouse components as a basis for my live steam projects. I will continue doing business with them for as long as I am active in the live steam hobby.

I recommend their ready-to-run and kit locos to anyone regardless of their experience in the hobby. You can't go wrong with them.
