The worst experience in my life . The most unprofessional company i have ever seen . After applying for jobs continuously through Linkedin, last month I was lucky enough to get an invitation for an interview with the company rotapanel.The interview was conducted by the co-owners of the company who are brothers and the sales international manager Ms. Amal. I was asked so many unprofessional stupid basic sales questions one of them was can you please sell me anything although i had an experience before as a sales persons and although the job title was international sales manager. When i asked why your asking me these questions and you are looking for an international sales manager , the answer was we don't care about the title we just gave the title to attract the customer we care only about sales . They even didn't feel i was trying to inform them that this was another job description. soooooooo unprofessional .then I was caught off guard by outrageous questions about my marital status, my parents jobs and my plan of ever coming back to Egypt due to the turbulent situation. Things took a turn for the worse as I had to deal with the baffling question of whether the husband that I don t even have would allow me to go to work. Their reasoning was that they used to hire a girl from Morocco who was forced to quit her position by her dad as he wanted her to get married. As I was from a similar cultural background in the Middle east, they wondered if the same thing would happen to me and whether my dad would let me travel to countries in Africa. Even though it was such a blatant discrimination against my nationality, I tried to turn a deaf ear to it as I desperately needed the job. A while later, I was invited to lunch and Ms. Amal poked into my abstinence from pork due to my religion of Islam. I clarified to her that I was a vegetarian in the first place.
After we returned to the office, I was hit with the bad news that it would be hard for them to obtain a working permit for me from the immigration office despite their wish to hire me. Ms. Amal then questioned my confidence in getting this permit and I explained to her about my friends in a similar situation. I almost became resigned yet they insisted that they would need to reconsider this and asked me to come again for another interview.
The next day, I willingly caved into all their demands and answered all their unprofessional questions. Afterwards, they told me that it might take 3 to 4 months for the immigration office to process this but it s possible for them to wait. They also asked me to complete an internship period of 4 to 5 days before their final decision and I willingly accepted their terms.
Several days later, I received the offer through an email in which Mr. R asked me to start my one-week internship at their company. However, when I asked them about the contract, my suspicion was confirmed as Ms. G told me there was no such thing as a contract. She asked me to keep it a secret but at my insistence, she half-heartedly sent me an attached agreement which stated that there would be no compensation.
Despite all that, I went through the trouble of travelling from 9am till 7pm to make it in time for the second interview. Mr. G picked me up from the train station and asked me to go to dinner but I politely turned him down due to my fatigue and also the fact that I am an early-riser. I went to their office the next day to have a meeting with Mr. R and Ms. A. I was in a state of confusion as they refused to tell me what my role would be and stated that the visit was only for the purpose of getting to know each other. To my utter shock, when I mentioned the agreement of training/internship from their side, Mr. R claimed he had never heard about such a thing.The rest will be in glassdoor website .
