We used Rose & Jones as a Buyer s agent to purchase a residential property, settling in January 2020. The service provided was good, we felt after multiple viewings the agent understood our requirements, and was helpful in securing our property purchase. The Buyer s agent offered good advice and communicated well throughout the process, taking the stress out of property finding for us. However, having agreed a flatline cost, there were hidden costs despite being reassured the capping of their service would be at $20,000. We felt the agent mis-communicated that a $5000 start-up/retainer fee was needed, which we assumed would be part of the agreed capped amount. However, having already begun the process, the contract stated the retainer was an additional fee on top of the capped amount. The agent did not specify the capped amount was not including GST, so ultimately the total cost of the transaction was $8500 more than the agreed amount. We lost a lot of trust with the agent when this came to light, especially when our budget was communicated at the start. Overall, the service provided was good, but I recommend you look at all the hidden costs before pursuing with Rose & Jones representation.
