ROOF on the Wit Review

Overpriced rooftop bar with hardly any view. Food was ok. Staff was friendly. I liked the screens that displayed dynamic art but when we wanted to film it the manager told us we were not allowed although others were shooting away with their phone camera's. You'd have to get approval from their marketing department. Please. Will not go back there again, wont recommend it to anyone either

I m not sure why this bar getting so bad. Tasteless drinks , not even worth a try . Such as nice location and the roof , but not a good service and drinks. Will not come back and not recommend .

Huge age discrimination here- don t bother if you are over 35, all the hosts, waiters, and bartenders will look you dead in the eye and ignore you because your group is not young and hip enough. There are soo many beautiful rooftop bars in this city with way better views, drinks, and service than thewit.

Very cool bar for that last minute drink on a Tuesday when the rest of this area is closed.

Went for an event and the rooftop was beautiful. Great view, plenty of seating.

Great view of downtown but gets a bit noisy as the evening goes on. They had a nice spread of food available along with the standard drink selection. Service was very good and management assigned enough staff for our group that we weren't waiting for drinks or having to seek out someone for refills.

If you're ready to party on the roof, the Wit is the place to be

Chicken and chorizo paella was delicious, and was served in portions large enough for two voracious appetites.

Tried to go up and have drinks in small outside area and hostess sat us in direct sun and then quickly left. I didnt even have a chance to ask her if we could move. There was another waiter/manager we asked if we could move to another table and he said they were setting up for a large party out there. I then asked if we could sit inside instead and his response was, "AGAIN, we're moving things around". Very rude, we left immediately.

The place is a RIP off and views are just ok. You feel like you're being nickle and dimed. Wont be back

Nice atmosphere great view, mediocre food and drinks

I love going to roof top bars so, needless to say I ve been to quite a few. The Roof on theWit has been one of the best I ve been to. Very classy, breath taking view, and it has a great atmosphere. The Staff is very intuitive, fun, and ridiculously hospitable. If you go, ask for Boris, awesome manager, really knows how to take care of his high-end customers.

The place looks beautiful and boogie, so bring your best suit look fly and save a ton of money before going. If your rich or got a plug in then go by all means, but not for regular visits on a minimum wage salary. Women here are Instagram model status, but again way too spoiled for most. The establishment is kind and really professional so no worries on that front. Depending on your taste you may have a great time dancing and seeing the view, or a bad one because it ain't a life style your use too.

Dude hit me up for cover charge after half of the group already entered. Pretty sure that went straight into his pocket.

Don't go here. There are seriously much better rooftop bars in the area like Cindy's or London House. Recently went here with a wedding party. Ended up being charged over $250 for two drinks for a receipt I never signed for. Management has been unhelpful, negligent, and quite frankly dishonest regarding these charges. Don't waste your time with a place that doesn't value customer service.

I've never had a great experience here, but it's worth it to explore the views. There are lots of sponsored events (Patron XO / Uber was the last one I attended) and it is definitely a place to see and be seen: you feel like you're on top of the city. You're going to pay a premium just because it's featured as one of the best rooftop bars, and you may be surrounded by ultra vain fashionistas... but when there are only a few days of perfect weather, you'll be glad there's a swanky rooftop bar in the loop.

The staff was very patient with our group , heading from the burbs to the city was brutal.

We were there to celebrate a birthday for dinner and ended up staying for the entertainment.

We ordered Venezuelan rice with chicken and chorizo. The small skillet is good enough for 4 ppl. We also had cucumber salad good enough for 2/3 ppl and the potatoes with an incredible sauce serving 2-3 ppl

Drinks were The daiquiri formerly known as prince and the frozen lemonade.

Desert was a blueberry crumb cake good enough for two. It was delicious and good enough for 2. The blueberry sauce mixed with a creamy peanut butter whip on the side was the perfect ending.

We stayed and danced away. The DJs were awesome and entertainment included a Bruno mars impersonator. So much fun.

Our waitress went from 4 stars to 2 by the end of the night we went from her being very attentive ,to then forgetting drinks ,adding things to our bill. But they fixed it right away and had it handled within minutes.

There is a lot of security probably due to the amount of bachelorette parties there. The security was attentive and really did a great job. They handled themselves very professionally.

Cute set up ,photo booth, entertainment,dinner ,dancing ...what more can you ask for. We were lucky to enjoy dinner with the roof top open.

Nice big bar on the top of the Wit. Great views, cocktails, and food. Bottle service available and a dj playing starting at 9 PM. Definitely a good time whether you're staying at the hotel or not.

Gorgeous space with incredible lighting, but mediocre cocktails and terrible service even during lightly trafficked early hours.

Poorly managed rooftop space where you're forced to stand while countless of couches, tables and chairs are reserved. The music selection was absolutely atrocious with gangsta rap.

This is my favorite rooftop in Chicago! There are three different atmospheres: lounge, outdoor, and high top tables. Now that the retractable roof has been installed, you can enjoy this space regardless of weather. The bouncers are attentive and make sure the space is safe and fun. There is a nice range of price tags associated with the bottle service tables which helps you fit the need of the evening. Definitely a must visit while in Chicago if you're looking for a fun night out!

The best rooftop bar and restaurant in the LA down town

DONT GO THERE!!!...It was the worst night ever. The people work at this place are racist disrespectful by all means. We been escorted out from the club just because the dance girls didn't like us STANDING there. I asked to talk to the manager to see why they are doing this and he was exactly the same like every one. Since we're from out of town, The Club bouncers didn't even let us go back to our rooms at the hotel down below. It was such a big mess.

I will say that the atmosphere is definitely great here. However, the main bar is not the easiest place to get a drink from. All the tables are reserved so good luck getting a seat and the change over from the restaurant to the nightclub seemed to lack a difference. Go for the drinks not to party.

Cocktails were just okay, views are great. Ordered an old fashion and it came with crushed ice and want mixed well.

My first time here we had a wonderful night (April 2015). In March 2019 they tried to charge my guest $100. I sat and watched to see if they were doing it to other guests and they WERE NOT. I FELT so much discrimination from the guy that was in charge that night. I will never go here again!

Fun bar I have to reserve a table though but I do suggest you go there especially if you're staying in the hotel

Extremely rude service and unfriendly atmosphere. Would not recommend it except if you want to blow away $$$ for no reason. There are a million other places you can try in the city with that money.

Fantastic vegetarian options - the vegetable paella is incredible.

I came here for my birthday and spent over a $1,000 on bottle service and drinks at the bar for my friends. The server kept forgetting to bring drinks to our table that i have already purchased, but my problem was not with the waitress. My problem is with the security that were rude and disrespectful to my girlfriend. They were not only rude to her, but also to other guests that were a part of a wedding there. When my girlfriend asked to speak to the manager, they kicked her out. I had to close out my tab and leave early. We have a video exposing the unbelievable disrespect from the security. Never again will i return.

A roof top bar that does not look like a roof top. The outside night view is not so good, but the ceiling is quite wide and the atmosphere is good, but the music is too noisy. There are a variety of single malts and wines, but there are not many kinds of beer or cocktails. You can taste a lot of macaroons at low prices.

I love the view from the bar. It's an amazing place to hang out with friends and colleagues after a day at work. The music was great and drinks were good, too.

Very upscale interior. Very nice bartenders and staff. Amazing views. Sizzling hot dancers. Relatively more mature crowd. Good drinks. Loud music. But no dance floor. Still very good for a night out!

ROOF on theWit is a phenomenal bar! It's such a cool place to visit, definitely a good spot for special occasions

Be aware when celebrating at the roof on the wit. Despite planning and pre-card authorization for a party of 9 ladies @ $600 Min. In VIP, stayed at the hotel due to the birthday celebrations, highly disappointed, The service could improve greatly with better communication skills. Remember names and hold on to all documentation when in correspondence with The Roof or your money could go POOF! Never thought with all that planning I would be asked "can you prove it??"
They were trying to charge me far more, glad I had my proof and you better have yours.

Pretty good place to grab a couple of drinks. The vibe is great, in the summer time they have an open deck on the roof and it is great hanging out there while listening to the DJ spinning music and smoking a cigarette. The one downside is this place can sometimes be difficult to get into, and the drinks are kind of expensive. But overall I do go here every couple of weeks; its sort of like a nightclub and bar mixed together and easier to get into than most "hot spots" in the Chicago area (but then again I love frequenting the dive bars)

Extremely overpriced for the food and experience... the food was ok but we got to desert and there was a massive hair literally baked into our cake. Didn t really want to finish it after that. They at least didn t charge us for it.

Very poor customer service, when calling in to inquire about events and access. I was transferred 3 times within the matter of minuets. Finally get on the phone with Erica P. and she is the manager of the establishment and over the events. Her tone was very univiting and she seemed as though she really didn't want to be bothered with my issue. She also stated that anyone of the people at the establishment should've been able to answer my general question. Beautiful place but not friendly people.

Good location with impressive views. Not very comfortable seating arrangements. Service was just okay. My drink was tasty, but on the pricey side. It was worth coming here for the view alone.

ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITE SPOTS! I love the location how its in the middle of everything and the drinks are amazing!! This is my go-to place to meet a friend for a drink, or even to go out on the weekends. Can't beat it!

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. While the physical location and space are beautiful, the poor service and inattentiveness that my party received was UNACCEPTABLE. Once seated, we waited for several minutes watching servers tend to other guests. Not one of them came over to us, offered us water, said they'd be right with us, or anything. This neglect went on for over 15 minutes. I'd like to think that race and age weren't factors, but we couldn't help but notice that an older, white couple came in way after us and a waiter tended to them immediately and brought them water right away. Guess the black and Hispanic girls weren't important enough to be waited on, so we complained and then left. Never going to or suggesting this place again.

Don't even know where to start. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

Absolutely love this place. I chose to come here instead of a club for my birthday this year. I'm so happy I made that decision because it was so nice, elegant, and perfect wine environment to have an actual conversation.

Beautiful place, awesome view. Fantastic service, drinks, ambiance and view. The drinks are about $15 or so. They are made well, strong and delicious.

Heads up: all rooftops in Chicago close at midnight by city ordinance! Inside bar is open until 2am. Outside closes at midnight!

Great drinks, obvi there are $$$ it worth it for the good view and fancy atmosphere. Would go back again.

Drinks are very good, service is prompt and staff is very polite and accommodating, the view is pleasant and music is enjoyable while having a conversation.

It's not on the rooftop like you think... Disappointing if your expecting an outdoor portion of the lounge like the name implies... I feel like something is missing..like with the big platforms in the middle...even when there are dancers on them... They take up a tiny section... I feel they are a waste of space... super plain decor as well. The space that looks nice with the couches and fireplace is always blocked off. Lastly, don't wear your heels ladies.. The floor must be tiled because your heel gets caught frequently.

You're really paying for the view and atmosphere here. The drinks were just fine, but it felt pretty 'scene-y' to me. They did have live music during happy hour, which was a very nice touch. The ROOF is great for an amazing weather day, especially if you don't mind paying $12 for a cocktail.

Unfortunately had a very bad experience here. My family (step mom, step dad, and sister) came here for a night out on the town. My dad is a native of Chicago and brought us here to show us his beautiful city. First off the server was very ditzy and a complete air head. She forgot our orders multiple times to the point of embarrassment. The floor management, however,was the straw that broke the camels back. One of the floor men kept on walking by our table staring us down, and would keep coming around staring at us. Finally I had enough and asked why he was staring, he said we were there for a while with no drinks and that it wasn t allowed. We each had 3 drinks and ordered appetizers unfortunately because of the slow arrival of our food and drink this was very spaced out. We are a family of color, and we were dressed very well, we are all educated with masters degrees+. I m saying this because this did not happen to any body else at this bar. When I asked to speak to a GM I was told that I was not allowed to speak to them. It is really horrible that this happens but, I know this is just ignorance. I hope this reaches somebody in upper management, things need to change. As a European lookin in, this is shameful.

As for the building in itself, it was well maintained and clean. The drinks were not diluted (us Europeans can tell ;) ) and the music was a good variety for everybody in my family.

Had a great experience. The atmosphere and view was very nice. Our waitress Laura was very sweet and patient with my large party. The workers and manager even accommodated a spot for my family to sit much closer to one another. Everyone was friendly and professional, definitely had a good time at Roof on TheWitt
