I've only eaten out from here. Like many other people are saying if you are going to get a skewer or appetizer (really anything around the $6-8 mark) it's not worth it as the portion is tiny. Otherwise the food I had was OK. The only thing I enjoyed was the Oyako Don.

Also, it looks like they haven't updated their Ritual menu so the few times I've order they've cancelled as they didn't have the items. I just checked their website and some of the items aren't listed which is strange.

I've come across this Izakaya this week, and was really curious. My first impression was the walk through going in and out the restaurant. A sliding door, and first thing you see is the different japanese bars, and beautiful art work. Menu was really simple and straight forward, and I find the prices was fair.

The staff were friendly, and pretty cool how the chef would walk up, and ask our dining experience. I would definitely come back, and try other items.

Unfortunately had a bad experience here. I understand Covid times and that restaurant may not have the same level of service. But telling your client that the meal you've ordered 30 minutes ago is actually not available is totally unacceptable. What have you done for those 30 minutes, while you only had 2 clients and empty restaurant?!! Also I've specifically asked for non spicy meals and received deadly spicy shrimp. Food itself is awful. Don't recommend this place

Ronin Izakaya is my favourite Izakaya in town. Tempura is super delicious, and beef tataki is my favourite dish. Environment is well decorated. It is nice to hang out in Ronin Izakaya during weekend, enjoying janpanese beer and skewer with your beloved ones

Found this Hidden Gem Japanese Izakaya close to OCAD. They have a big menu of everything from amazing oden, grilled skewers to a variety of deep fried side dishes. The oden was sooo so goood!

My fav is their popular winter item of the Chanko Nabe! We got the veggie pot with miso soup broth. It's a light dashi soup base that pairs with all the toppings super well. They also have spicy miso and soy sauce option as well. The pot was huge just for 2 people, it was filled with a variety of amazing japanese toppings like tamago, tofu, fresh veggies and more. Comes in a super big portion, great for sharing!

Another thing to try it definitely the samurai chicken Yakitori sword, it has a great presentation, the assorted veggies and meat was grilled with great seasoning and spices! Loved it

Perfect place to check out if you love neat and fusion japanese food

Nice ambiance and staff. Their seafood nabe was good but not exceptional. The chicken yaki soba was somewhat sweet, not sure that's their style but not to my taste. We also had an order of karaage, which was good, but lacked a bit of salt. Their yakitori hit-and-miss.

Wouldn't Return.

Wouldn't Return.

Imagine paying $4.49+ tax EACH for this ("Matsusaka".. apparently). Tasted like cheap pork jowl.

Also, they're run by Chinese, which explains a lot. The Japanese would have more pride in their efforts. Really unfortunate and disappointing.

Don't be fooled.
