Rodeo Spur (Spur Steak Ranches Franchise) Review

Even if it's your first time ..it will feel like eating spur at home

It's ok, however there are way better restaurants than Spur.

Better than the last time I was there, but that was over twenty years ago.

All my fondest childhood memories of Spur are tainted. Food was overpriced and overcooked. I had ribs and chicken wings, both dry and the sauce was bland. I felt robbed when I left.

Food was enjoyable and staff member was friendly and helpful. What can I say more but its the normal service from Spur, nothing special that stands out that made my visit exceptional.

This spur used to be my go-to spur for years... However, tonight I am extremely disappointed at their lack of consideration towards their customers, especially towards their muslim customers heading out to break their fast.

When we got to Rodeo Spur, the doors were locked, but there were customers inside. It wasn't that full either. So we waited patiently.. the cashier had clearly seen us, as she awkwardly smiled, turned to another staff member and laughed. So we continued waiting as more people filled the foyer. Eventually it was now 10min before we had to break our fast and no one bothered to help us. So we knocked on the door. Another customer inside spur walked passed and we signaled him to call someone. So he told the lady at the desk who initially shrugged us off.
Finally a manager opened the door to explain that they weren't letting customers in because they were short staffed due to the protests in gugs and most of their staff coming from tnere. This was understandable. BUT what was NOT acceptable was that
1) we stood there for about 10 -15min waiting to be acknowledged (by staff and customers who clearly saw us)
2) there was no signs explaining anything
3) when addressings us, they turned away people who did not have family/friends inside and allowed those who did in...
And finally 4) we then had less than 7min to find another place to quickly break our fast...

Such disappointing and horrible behaviour from Spur's staff!!! They could have at least been decent enough to inform us of the situation with enough time to find somewhere more accommodating!! Ontop of that, why allow some customers in and others not?? Disgusting!!

The food is halal, and the food is delicious, especially the steak ribs, I like it a lot

Service is excellent! Just on some visits when it's very busy the wait is about an hour for you food! But the waiters are friendly and kind.

Great food...great company..perfect start to a Sunday.

Service was super terrible. Stood in front for a while before being acknowledged. Ordered our food and only received our drinks after we were done eating. Specifically asked the waiter to put more cream on the waffle than ice cream. When our waffle arrived there was more ice cream than cream.

To be fair I did enjoy myself there previously but with my last visit I was very unsatisfied with the food, took my parents with and I felt like I let them down, their steaks were not well done as requested and it was tough, as well as my wife's steak, my father in law had to send his food back, it was just too bad, it came back better but not great, by then he lost his appetite, we ate the food but did not enjoy it, I ordered a chai latte and it tasted more like a coffee, and it is not cheap. Won't go back anytime soon

We had a very bad experience.
I took my family out for Sunday lunch.
The waiter was unprofessional.
The steaks was tough and tasteless.
We love spur, but was very disappointed with this visit.

Ordered ribs for both myself and my wife however ribs was either bony or with big chunks of fat on it. Probably more than half of it was wasted cos we don't eat fat

Amazing, the most perfect steak that I have ever had at any eatery. Magazi was the griller and Vianey the waiter. Excellent service in a crazy busy Spur.

Good service. Never have ribs, won't go again. This spur hasn't had ribs since 2015. Always some excuse when you get there.

I celebrated my sons birthday at this Spur the past weekend as he got a Hyperli voucher as a gift. The manager was friendly assisted her waiter that was spinning.

What was bad that - When making the booking i was given the run around told that there's only availability in October for over a weekend. I got really upset and annoyed after speaking to managers - how was I to celebrate my sons birthday 3 months after his birth date, but never the less - I expressed my self to a relative of mine that is a General manager at one of the top to hotels in the city, she managed to call them with a pretence accent and for us to celebrate my sons birthday in his birthday month at-least. Sharp! - We got a slot for the past Sunday.

Why couldn't you guys just make a way for me like you did for her when I called? Why did we have to pretend and throw a title around just to get a closer date?

I didn't like that and feel that I won't go there again because seems like you have to be of some sort of class to get preferred bookings available , I was basically forced to use the voucher there as it was a gift after all.

It's was such a lovely experience, the staff was super friendly especially our waiter, I think his name is Richard. The bathrooms were clean. The only critic I have is the spacing between meals, we were there for the 3 course meal special and would have liked more time inbetween each meal but at least we got to take doggy bag

17 dollars for a salad that served barely 2 people. 37 dollars for a steak that was tough and you had to pay another 2.50 to get sauce on it. Crappy pub food with a stupidly high price tag. Absolutely appalling.

Very dissapointed .service presentation and quality of food.ribbs just fat and portions small.also after pre calling and asking if they do except RCS card which they say they do and getting to pay point to be told they don't.
Definitely won't get me back there again .

It was amazing. The waiter Zolani was truly cool. He had 7 women to deal with lol. I would go back if Zolani is my waiter any time. Service very good.

I went to this spur last night after a few years. And the place is not the same this was one of the best spurs not anymore. We ordered cheddermelt steaks the cheese looked soo Old and tasted like plastic we had to remove the cheese cause of it tasting so bad. I call the manage and she is aware of this horrible cheese but still served it to paying customers Wil never go here again. Reali disappointed

Excellent service, hats off to the waiter who was extremely friendly and patient. Food arrived within 20 minutes, did not have to wait long at all. A well deserved 5 stars!

Where do I begin... Waited 2 hours and 10 minutes for our food and that excludes the 30 minutes we waited for our waiter to come and take our order and also an additional 40 minutes for our starter nachos to arrive. None of these times are included in the main course which we ordered after the starter. Our drinks arrived after we finished half our food. Our orders were wrong twice for all 4 of us. My husband didn't have cutlery and his ribs were 90% fat. The only good thing is that my steak was prepared like I asked. Spur, if you can't offer a decent service don't fill your seats. Your waiters and managers just can't handle a full house of people.

Update: changing my review to 5 stars on Dec 30 as i was contacted by Nadia Paulse from operations who apologised and provided a voucher for the issues faced. Note that im only changing it due to her being so nice and understanding and taking my review to heart in order to improve the store.

Great atmosphere. Cosy. Parking is a problem during the day though.

No issues with the food, but they tend to overbook for parties and then the waiters struggle to serve everyone.

Love their steak. However they should employ more weekend staff because the wait for your food is always long and most times its received cold. In quiet times it's always excellent.

Thee only Spur that gives excellent customer services and the managers on duty this morning I thank you for your excellent services and checking in with us regularly . Great team wrk Rodeo Spur and not forgetting the food. They never disappoint

It was a but empty so the food arrived quick and i had a friendly waitress.

This is the best halaal spur in Cape Town. Quality foods and good service.

This is one of our favorite Spur restaurants to visit. The food is great especially the ribs. Staff are friendly and the place is clean. Very popular eatery and you may have to wait for a table on busy nights. I suggest calling ahead on weekends and around Payday as it gets busy in the evening.

Waiters and managers nice customer friendly foid was amazing

The food didn't take long at all and they served the kids first. Waiters have so much energy, friendly, helpful, etc. Overall, it was a good experience. Good Food, excellent service! Definatetly a Spur I would visit again.
