Had Christmas lunch and tour of castle. Lunch excellent, staff excellent. Best mince pies I've ever tasted. Tour of the castle given by the housekeeper from 1649; she was very entertaining and informative. Highly recommended.

There as a reenactor at the Viking event this weekend. Beautiful settings for sure but a bit stingy on vital facilities after castle closing hours: only 6 portaloos in the Living History village and for the amount of people there + public during the day, and only 1 in the 'plastic' camp/ horse paddock, at the other end away from the shady spot by the trees.
Also access to toilets with sinks to wash hands/face after a sweaty day, brush teeth etc.... again none supplied after the castle's closing hours. Found 1 outdoor tap near the entry booth, to brush my teeth al fresco the first evening. Would have been nice to have access to a few of those basic things for re-enactors staying over night 2 nights.

I like this castle. But there are too much private apartaments and rooms which not able to watch. Then no making photo inside of the castle and too little accesories in shop with castle photos. So modern castle more suitable for parties. That's why only 4 for raiting.

Despite my disabled wife being charged full price for garden admission the paths were difficult and steep in places and ramp locations illogical/ non existent. Full price also for house admission just to watch a video because steps were unmanageable. Most similar establishments would offer a discount and provide an accessible map but not here. Won't be returning.

Nice place to visit, interesting items on display ...

Nice place to visit, interesting items on display and a nice place to learn a thing or two about English history.
The rooms available for visit are only a few, the rest are closed for private use. The price of the ticket when I visited was 12.50, which for what you get to see is quite a lot, you can opt to visit just the gardens for 7.50, but I would recommend to pay the extra 5 and get Castle access as well. The place is quite big, so make sure you go there there early to have time to visit all of it. When I visited (Bank Holiday) they opened at 13:00, o don't know of that is the normal opening hour or just for the bank holiday.

Really impressed with this place. However i would say it's a tad pricey for the time you spend there especially when compared with a national trust membership / visits. Also a tad disappointing that I couldn't take photos in the building.

Loved the place.900 years old but a quaint, well maintained place which is actually lived in . A place of Beautiful gardens and roses. Look out for the elephant hedge. The guide for our outside tour , Diana was a pleasure to listen to. The knowledge she has about the place is awesome. The entry was 31 pounds for 2 adults and 2 kids along with parking. The kitchen, the halls adorned with paintings are a treasure to be seen.

This was our first visit since the lockdown began and we were so pleased to return. Well done to the staff who have cared and maintained the gardens so well, they are absolutely beautiful! We felt completely safe walking around and there were visible signs of sanitisation on site but none of it felt clinical at all. Plenty of space for picnics and for kids to run around in, we most definitely will be back very soon!

Castle is very pretty grounds are stunning.
We felt a little let down by the viking day event.
Wasn't much on for the cost.
The cafe couldn't really cope with the amount of people

My self, wife and two young daughters went there today..(Easter Sunday).we loved it..the tour guide was very passionate about her job.and loves the History of the place..she was Fantastic..i cant wait to return in the summer..when the gardens are in full bloom.what a Beautiful Place..no wonder so many people through out History have fallen in love with Rockingham Castle.one small point..there was a police car..with policeman outside the main door..letting children turn the sirens on and off..and letting them beep the horn..which spoilt the atmosphere of the History there...Fantastic Day out..10 out of 10..but dont have a police car there anymore..a cannon would have been more in tune with the surroundings..and probably less loud than the police cars siren.

We spent a delightful few hours today looking round the gardens and enjoying a tour of the house. The weather was glorious and there was plenty to see in the gardens even though autumn started officially today. Our tour guide was very well clued up and gave us an interesting commentary as he guided us around the house. Covid precautions were in place so we felt very safe. Well recommended.

How fabulous to have access to such a defining piece of Historic architecture! It really was a delight to eat in the Cafe and then walk around the public parts of this country castle home. The grounds gave my heart such joy and to be able to buy Annual membership at such a convenient price for all pockets, simply a no brainer for me. We must thank this family for keeping such a magnificent Castle in excellent condition! Looking out from the parapet onto the fields below was the making of a very lovely day and the helpful volunteers dotted around were always ready to share their love and enthusiasm for the place. As a lover of all geology I was truly smitten by this cool structure and found myself smiling often just because I was standing next to one of my favourite Castle buildings. A must see when in the area and even if you're not in the area, one simply cannot miss a visit to one of the great of this country! Still standing and still magnificent and still a family home!

We enjoyed the Halloween tour as a family. There were very good covid precautions in place. Plenty of parking and free too. Good toilet facilities. All the staff working there were very friendly, helpful and happy despite it pouring down with rain.

The history of this castle is incredible. We saw actual documents signed by Henry VIII and Elizabeth I as well as letters from Charles Dickens whose novel "Bleak House" was inspired by this place. We had a cream tea in the restaurant and the scones were delicious! Amazing views across 4 counties and beautiful grounds and gardens. Thumbs up all round!

Well organised, lovely setting and the Xmas decorations were lovely. Staff members played the part of staff in the 1840's very well with tremendous knowledge and the ability to answer questions accurately and quickly. Was our 3rd time here but 1st time at Xmas.
