Loses one star because they were not able to take my computer to fix when they told me they would and I made a trip from mtn home to boise but gets 4 stars because the service crew were kind and helpful. They gave me ideas on what to try to fix my system and I managed to fix it.

I was looking or a USB to RS485 adapter. I called the store and the sales person who answered said yes they have them and to come on in. I went there and asked the people that were behind the counter and they said they do not have them. All they had was USB to 232.

Being lied to to get you into a store is pure BS. And I will NEVER reccomend this place or go there again. I would rather deal with mail order instead of being lied to.

This is pretty unfortunate since when I first walked into the place I was impressed and thought I had found a new computer store that also had lots of other electronic components.

Too bad......

More expensive then buying online but you get staff to help you with decisions, didn't have what I was looking for but has a good selection of parts.

Beware of buying any software from them. I bought windows 7 and the disc was bad. To top it off they refused to refund my money. I am now filing a complaint with the better business Bureau
I contacted Microsoft and if you try to download a copy using the key product code, it will Tell you to contact the computer manufacturer. So you will never be able to download a copy

I have come into this store for many years now for all my computer needs and now HAM needs too. The negative reviews on this site are malarkey if you ask me. Most of the poor reviews are of people no longer working there. There is nothing but a friendly greeting and willingness to help individuals that are willing to listen to their expertise. These people are going to give you the straight up truth and not sell you something you don t need. There has been many of a time that they have saved my rear on bonehead mistakes. They informed me it was better to go to a newer system than sinking money into one of my two systems that I had them look over. The truth is what I get from them, when I was looking around for a new system I choose to shop local. I presented them an estimate from a competitor and the sales/tech informed me their competitor was using tech that was near two years behind what they use. He told me that they try to carry the latest generation inventory that they can. He told me that when you buy local you are helping those individual in the store and when buyer s remorse happens or people trying to treat the product as a rental facility it affect all of them. Therefore, my advice is if you want honest and willingness to assist you, this is the place to come. In addition, my gaming rig is awesome could be none the better. It is freaking sweet corei7, SSD, 16gb Ram, 980GTX it is so awesome!

Justin has helped us with both a particularly nasty, stubborn virus and hardware problems. He's tenacious and skilled...not satisfied until the machine's working properly. He was able to sleuth out a rather obscure problem and fix it at a reasonable price. He communicated expertly throughout the process with my (gearhead) spouse and me (a tech primitive). Excellent work, excellent service...both at very reasonable cost.

I didn't want another computer repair group who just read a script to get me to comply to their terms and just push me aside. RJM Computer service actually stopped what they were doing to talk with me and help me understand what my problem was with my computer. They fixed my issue completely!

I've wanted to like this store for about 10 years, but they never have what i need, and the sales guys are always complete a-holes. I'm done coming here.

I love this store. Always so polite and helpful. Being a person who doesn't know a thing about computers they really know how to break it down enough so I can understand. And the best part of all, they aren't bothered at all by my young daughters running around the store and touching things. They offer them popsicles. I HIGHLY recommend this store to anyone who is in need of computer parts, repairs or simple advice!

$278.00 later I ended up with Malwarebites and supposedly work done. I then went on a trip but I come home a month later unable to find The Malwarebites even installed. No power coming from any of my ports and was told only thing to do would be buy a new computer. I can't even tell if he did any work. They refunded me $70.00 for the Malwarebites only because I made a fuss. The rest of my money I am out and I need to get a second opinion and or buy a new laptop.
I made sure to let them know I wasn't coming back. They gave no inclination that they would make better or even try.. Sad that a company has been around for so long won't try to make it right.
DO NOT GO THERE!

Four stars based on a brief visit. Employees were friendly and helpful. I will go back the next time I need a computer part.

Edit: I did not have a hard drive (per their response). My husband and I were shopping for a new computer system. We were prepared to drop a lot of money. The two employees we dealt with were inconsiderate and frankly, quite rude, not only to us but also to another customer. We witnessed the interaction with the other customer. Very unprofessional and I am not sure how they are staying in business. We like to shop local but would rather go to a box like Best Buy than deal with them again.

For computers and accessories this is a good place to find what you are looking for.

Visiting from out of town, found the staff very friendly and helpful. What a selection of great stuff! It was very fun to browse; hope to come back soon.

These guys are amazing! I took my daughters gaming desktop in to see why it wouldn't start up. They tested it and said it was the power source. While we were there, my daughter bought a brand new gaming laptop. She loves it! I bought the power source and installed it, but couldn't get it to boot up. I took it back and they worked on it to figure it out (it had been fried from a power surge). They exchanged the power source and helped me save her hard drive. They went way above and beyond with their customer service. Thanks Ryan! I highly recommend them!

Not hygienic. Old guy was rude to my wife and could not find it for a while. Scoffed about putting the unit in the back of the car when she asked. She had a mask onas she is at risk.

Seriously the best place in town to get computer help. They are so nice and explain everything they are going to do to get the problem fixed. Be sure to leave these sweet people a tip. Their prices are low enough to do that. I would recommend them to anybody. They had my laptop fixed in under 24 hours!

Computer repair shop is fantastic! They diagnosed and replaced my failed hard drive on laptop, and on my desktop they repaired Office programs that would not run due to an unwanted add-in program. I brought my desktop in, and within one hour I was taking it home, repaired, without being charged!!!! They will have all my computer repair business. Super friendly when you walk in the store, free popcorn, and always great advice.

Great little service/part store. Prices are a bit higher than I would like, but for the need a part that day situations it's very fair pricing.

Everything you could need to build a custom computer, and a fair amount of toys as well. One of the few amateur radio parts stores in the valley as well.

Friendly staff that doesn't try to sell you on a bunch of stuff you'll never need, but great at suggesting items that you may need to make a project easier.

As a senior citizen, I've witnessed a huge decline in customer service practices over the years. Not at this store! Kevin at RJM Computers and Electronics was kind, courteous, and professionally knowledgeable. He was able to find an outside-of-the-box solution for my problem...and one that fit within my very limited budget! Kevin is my hero. I am so grateful I walked through these doors. Thank you, RJM, for your 'old school' service!

Went in for pc parts and ended up just buying everything for the new build there! Great selection of parts, adapters, pretty much anything you could need!

Met with Dave . Positive experience . He explained USB adapters to me . I bought probably the only female to female one in Boise . Yes, forget Walmart or Best Buy on this one !

Great experience with RJM! I went in to get my new keyboard installed on my laptop and Justin was more than happy to help me out; and he didn't even charge me for it! Am going there for all my computer needs in the future.

Went in with my friend to get his screen fixed, because they previously gave him a janky screen that didn t work, and Tyler continued to try and blame it on the customer, saying that he had damaged it more and wasn t reporting it. They ended up sending us away without any help at all.

To work my advocacy, I RELY on my laptop.
Last Saturday night, I put my laptop on "hibernate" and by Sunday morning, there was no power to the machine. Nothing worked, would not boot up, would not even indicate that any "juice" was going to the machine and I used several power cords.
So, on Monday, we dropped the machine off at "Computer Central," which is closer to where I work. They didn't even look at the laptop until Thursday and then indicated that they needed the power cord for it. Stopped by and brought them a power cord the same day. Still no juice to the machine (duh).
Their solution:
open it up for diagnostics = $50
Labor to fix it = $125
Parts = No quote yet
They would order the part right away but it would not come in until next week, then the machine goes back into repair cue and estimate for me to get my computer back was another 1 - 2 weeks.
I AM FURIOUS, COLLECT MY COMPUTER AND HEAD OVER TO RJM COMPUTERS - a little out of the way, but always received great and reasonable service from them.
Walk into RJM Computers, guy says NEVER USE "SLEEP" OR "HIBERNATE" mode. They can create an internal power surge that shuts the system down. He opens up the machine, removes battery, plugs in the cord... Machine comes right up. Properly shuts the machine down and puts battery back in. Machine boots right up.
TOTAL TIME TO FIX = < 30 MINUTES.
TOTAL COST = $0.00 BECAUSE "THERE WAS NO LABOR INVOLVED".
THAT my friends is the kind of customer service you receive at RJM COMPUTERS on Overland. Please make them your FIRST CHOICE for your computer troubles.

Fantastic repair and customer service. Very fast and reasonable.

Good selection, actually the best selection for pc parts in Boise. Do not listen to the people who work there. I took multiple trips here because of incompatibilities that they refused to admit. They also tried to up sell me. If you know enough about computers then you should be fine coming here.

Remember to check compatibility as they refused to return a 1080p 42ms monitor. When I was told, since the details weren t on the box only online and they had no internet there, it was a 1440p 1ms monitor.

Prices is what makes this place terrible, some price markups as high as 900%. A specific example would be display port 2 HDMI adapters, they sell them for around 28 dollars Online you can get them for about 6 bucks

8/10/2017 I collected computer parts for about a year finding deals where I could and was planning on putting together a gaming PC by myself but my brother suggested RJM Computers. They will build your computer for a pretty good price and they did exactly as I asked, no added programs or bloatware. They did good cable management also. All the drivers and windows were installed correctly and it was as smooth as possible. I am now playing on my computer and able to use it for many different things and it runs wonderful for gaming. Much better than buying a pre-built computer from CyberPowerPC or IBuyPower. They do have their own pre-builds but they come at a premium also. If you plan on getting a computer, research the hardware and make sure all of it's compatible and have these guys do it!

They treat customers nicely and have a good selection. All I needed was a sata cable one visit and they gave me a spare. Great service!

The staff told/sold me a product would work for what I needed and it didn t. The staff didn't seem to know what they were talking about. I would probably buy something I already knew I needed if the price was right, but past that there are better options in the valley for it support

The sales rep was super rude and pushy. Their prices on gpus were way overpriced compared to competitors. They were asking $339.99 for a 1660 Ti. For reference all store sell that card for $280. You can but a 2060 (which is a far superior card) for $320. When I was talking to the salesman just trying to get a price he kept grabbing the card and walking towards the cash register trying to push the sale when I clearly stated I was only price comparing and told him I could find a better deal elsewhere. I would not recommend buying from them as you will be severely ripped off. I was hopeful that a brick and mortar would pull through and I wanted to shop local but the way overpriced markup and the bad vibe I got from the salesman was enough to put me off. I get it, sometimes you need to mark things up to keep the lights on but a $60 mark up for no benefit just is not worth it. Save your money and shop somewhere else or buy used

Great Seelction, and very helpful and knowledgable staff the only probelmm and its huge, is that there prices are ridiculouslly high, a gtx 1030 with gddr5 (runs ya about $150 with tax and a gtx 1050ti over $250 maybe it was $350 I forgot but for sure it was $250 before tax, and I literally bout the same card for $129 on amazon last week, prices are at times double what they should be. So if you need help with your computer or info bring your gear here they will know whats up however if your building a system steer clear for anything but help, until they lower there prices, they are about 75% higher than online minimum. Great places though other than price

Just needed their help getting a data recovery off my Lenovo. They did the job perfectly and for a very reasonable price. This seems like the place where they've heard and experienced every problem in the book and they genuinely want to help. Only gripe is I have a tiny torx screw missing from my laptop now but other than that, happy with the help.

Local tech landmark. The have a lot of connectors and components if you need to build a cable. The resell new and used PCs. They sell to businesses and consumers. Lots of PC components in stock. Decent prices. Mostly beats office depot and best buy on price.

Great Place to buy Computer Components. I'm a tech savvy entrepreneur who helps out around the valley building new machines, repairing old ones, and taking care of individual needs as they arise. I go to RJM to buy most my components locally. They are friendly and knowledgeable and always seem to have what I need. I've even gone in there with no idea how I was going to accomplish a task, and after a short spitfire session with their sales group I left with either a solution in hand, or a idea of how to proceed.

Not only are they local and friendly, the prices aren't half bad, you can always find stuff online cheaper, but that doesn't mean its going to work the way you intend it and after 3-5 days shipping it's delayed the process dramatically, where as you can go in to the store pick up a item 30-40 cents more than Newegg or Amazon and get it same day without having to wait.

Highly recommend them over other stores in the valley as I find other stores maybe as knowledgeable, but they do not stock the components you need, and if they do it's typically twice the price you can buy it online, which makes it almost worth waiting.

Brought in a drive for data recovery, provided working drive to transfer data to as well, WAS NEVER CONTACTED, and when I called in to check was informed that they had "recycled" both drives. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

The staff has never laughed at what I consider to be stupid questions. They exhibit tons of patience and are always ready and willing to be of service. RJM is a real GEM of a store!

I dropped my laptop from 5ft onto cement. It was lifeless and these guys came to it's rescue! And fast! I was in there no more than 10 min and out satisfied with my now functioning computer again! Thank you guys so much for your help, you made my day. Great people.

I went in there looking for 6800uf 25v capacitors to repair a failed powered studio monitor that just buzzed when I powered it on, regardless of volume level. I already had the order in my digikey cart, but a friend suggested I check RJM. I was dubious, but I went and sure enough they had the exact part I needed.

Great store, location does nothing for the product and service they provide. Custom computers, loads of hardware and up to date selection. I will be back time and time again. Dan is a huge help.

very helpful, they know what they are doing. they dont try to sell you stuff you dont need. they dont beat around the bush, and are very discreet. it is the only place i take my computer for repairs, and the only place i buy computer parts and accessories.

Sent an email with a question, for a response right back, after a quick phone call with Ryan I had the correct part sitting on the counter waiting for my wife to swing by and purchase! Equipment was spot on what I needed and the service was great!

I was missing a few screws from a laptop, not sure how that happened. Justin replaced the screws in a couple minutes. Thank you Justin.

I brought my computer in here to get the screen replaced. They replaced it with a faulty screen and did not take photos of before and after the repair. They then went on to claim I dropped it and broke the new screen I just bought. You can say it was and easy waste of my money and time.

I have been shopping at this store for years. If I don't find what I want it can be ordered. I love looking through their "junk" pile for salvageable items. Today I picked up an old video card I wanted the heatsink/fan from. YAY!

I had an older DELL computer that I wanted scrubbed and donated. They did it all for FREE and saved me a trip to the Youth Ranch. GREAT customer service! Keep it local peeps.

These guys mark up their products at a massive margin. I bought a Corsair mouse from them for 80 bucks a while back. Found it on eBay brand new for 46 bucks. I went in the other day to inquire about a custom built gaming pc. They refused to build it how I wanted. Wanted me to buy a bunch of gear that I literally told them I didn t want, then argued with me about how much they thought I needed it. (It was a DVD player) Tried to rush me into buying it. So I walked out. I got home and looked up the equipment online. They were trying to charge me double the price for old inferior products. Then after that they wanted 1000 bucks just to put the thing together(honestly I don t know what the extra g was for they didn t specify)! Do not go to this place. They will bend you over the table and take you for everything you re worth! I know I won t be back!
