The grounds crew does a great job with limited resources! I have taked to assistant superintendent of golf course maintenance and he seems to really have the best interest of the course and takes a lot of pride in his work!

Often, after work in the early morning, I have to wait for the bus on 33rd Ave next to this place. On many occasions over past year+, the maintenance guy comes out and blows yard debris and dirt and dust all over me with his giant lawntractor-pulled leaf blower or he comes out, turns around upon seeing me or others I work with and turns the sprinklers on. This is after the sprinklers have already been running for twenty minutes just before sunup.

What a hidden gem of a course. If you are into course design you see the Chandler Egan influence and similarities to other courses in the region. The course was in great shape today. The greens are among the best I ve played in the Portland area. The fairways are not generous but fair - you need accuracy off the tees, and can t just bomb it. The fairways are tree lined but the trees seem to be spread out enough to increase playability. Similarly the underbrush is kept down between the trees, also increasing playability (this part is reminiscent of Waverly). There was rain today and that may have made the greens more receptive than usual. But for today the greens were just superb - really quite fast, receptive to approach shots and sloped / fast enough to require skill with irons and wedges to stay below the hole.

The course had elements that reminded me of Royal Oaks, Waverly, Tualatin CC and Eastmoreland (no surprise on 3 of those, as Egan also designed them). If you have played those courses and liked them you will like Riverside.

I didn t have a chance to use the clubhouse, members areas, etc., so I can t comment on them.

25 for dinner. Decorated beautifully. But when we got our dinner orders the three children's were forgotten. When we mentioned it to our waitress we were all through eating, and they finally brought out the children's dinner that was so hot they could barely eat it. I think they forgot that was part of the order. The bartender worked his phone more than the customers even though he had credit cards there for open bar for the people. It just could have been better

For the past 3 years in late Spring and Summer, a former co-worker and I play this course once a month. We chose it as it is about halfway between our residences in Vancouver and Puyallup. Always have enjoyed the fast greens and the challenges of the overhanging trees along the fairways. This past May our round was not fun. Not only was the rough high, it was covered in 3 to 4 grass clippings. One inch off the fairway and your ball was buried in the rough and covered in clippings. Really frustrating. On the plus side, the staff is friendly and our post round late lunch is always great. Hopefully, the rough will be forgiving on our next round
