RIDE Cyclery - Encinitas Review

I bought my first real road bike here in early March. Chase worked with me to help find the perfect-fit bike for me, within my price range, based on the type of riding I like to do. He kept in close communication with me throughout the process, since it had to be special ordered (though it only took one week). I have had my bike now for about a month and I could not be happier. I have ridden hundreds of miles on it and I love it! Thanks for the awesome service.

Terrible customer service! I went there looking to buy an electric bike that they had on sale. They were pretty busy wish understandable, but the first thing the guy does is look at me from top to bottom and says to wait for someone to get free. I was totally ok waiting, so I went outside for one second and I hear the guy screaming across the room to the other sales person to ask me for everything even my car keys because "that bike can go fast" insinuating that I look so sketchy that I could still it. And maybe I looked sketchy (I just went camping). BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE ME FEEL LIKE A THIEF, you can think whatever you want just don't do it in my face.

I was charged $50 for a scratch on a $7 skewer when I rented a bike from Ride Cyclery. I will never rent a bike here again. Read the fine print when signing the rental agreement and do a thorough check on the bike because you WILL be charged $50 per scratch existing or not.

My first visit to this new shop left me impressed. Jamie, the shop salesperson, listened carefully and provided spot on responses and input regarding my questions. Everyone in the shop was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I think this may well become my new go-to shop here in North County.

This shop was a huge help for me! For awhile I was looking for a bike to purchase, but wasn't sure where to begin. The staff was really helpful and easy to talk to, giving me tips and advice for what to look for in a bike, informing me about the details of each bike I was interested in, to letting me test ride a variety of bikes. Long story short, I ended up going with the Specialized Tarmac and love everything about it! With the help of the staff, I was able to figure out what bike fit my needs best.

Whether you're an experienced rider or new to the bike scene, I strongly recommend coming into the shop!

I look forward to every visit to Ride Cyclery. The staff have provided me great service keeping my older bike serviced and working perfectly. They have taken the time to figure out what my needs are and they have never tried to pressure or over sell to me. I highly recommend you stop by and take a look around the shop.

I was recently in Encinitas for a few days. I didn't feel like bringing my bike with me, and a friend in the industry recommended RIDE Cyclery as a good place to rent a road bike.

They set me up with a carbon fiber Cannondale with Shimano 105 it was my first time in awhile riding a carbon bike.

The staff was kind enough to set me up with necessities like a tube and Co2 inflator. They also took extra time to dial in the fit (best to do that with a torque wrench handy, especially with carbon frames and seatposts).

They really went the extra mile because I thought I'd brought my own pedals. As it turned out, I took them off my bike back home, but forgot to pack them! The RIDE guys just happened to have a sweet of the same kind I use. They really bailed me out!

They also recommended some routes, as did a few customers hanging out.

Rental was $80 for 24 hours.

A very good rental/shop experience. I'll rent from them next time I'm around.

Really want to like this spot, always try to support local business. Had my bike in twice for service and both times have been disappointed.

Excellent customer service, took my bike in with a particularly annoying chronic clicking noise. I was worked in on short notice, my problem was diagnosed and resolved on the spot. I couldn t recommend this store more highly.

My wife and I have been riding up and down the 101 for a few years now but have never been to this bike shop let alone even knew it was here.After buying 2 Fuji road bikes a few weeks ago we've been riding further and further afar but usually always up or down the 101.Today we had not long turned around in Carlsbad when my wife noticed her bike got a lumpy ride all of a sudden.Turns out the rear tube was completely punctured and the front one had a slow leak.We googled a bike store and Ride Cyclery was the closest.After walking a few miles and stopping for lunch we made it here and took her bike straight in to the bike repair shop out the back of the store.A very polite young fellow named Nick diagnosed things quick as a flash and proceeded to change the tubes out front and rear.The tubes were 7 bucks each and the labor charge was around $11 for each wheel.We saw on our way out that they have a big selection of bikes in the showroom.Nick told us his store recommends the Specialized brand.We'll come back another day and have a look.

The service from start to finish is amazing I ordered a special bite and I was really impressed. Max helped me out with my measurement and explained the proper way of of fitting the bike to my hight and length. I was also happy because my bike came in early as expected and when I want to go pick it up Chase was able to explain to me all the important shifting and seat measurements And how to change my flat if I got one

The guys at RIDE Cyclery in Encinitas went above and beyond to help me with my bikes while living in CA. I purchased my Specialized Como Electric bike at RIDE and they helped guide me in making the right decision on which model to buy. Just recently, they packed up my bikes and shipped them to FL where I am now living and they did a fantastic job doing so. The bikes needed a little assembly which my boyfriend helped me with and he also said the packing of the bikes was excellent.
In closing, I highly recommend RIDE Cyclery for bike purchases and maintenance. The guys at RIDE in Encinitas are dedicated, friendly and professional and they will take good care of you!

I wish our local bike shop felt more welcoming to us older folks. While I was treated well, it was a long ways from feeling good coming in there. Almost felt as if they were doing me a favor.

RIDE staff is fabulous as I recently rented a road bike and purchased new cycling shoes. Team determined correct shoe size and set me up on a great rental bike, installing my saddle, pedals, and Garmin mount I brought with me. These cycling enthusiasts are helpful and professional and can provide any required service level! Best shop I ve experienced!

I purchased a Pinarello F10 Red Magma frameset, and had Patrick @ Ride Cyclery pack and ship it to me. He did an absolutely fantastic job of lovingly insulating it from any foreseeable impact and it arrived in perfect condition ! He's a star and deserves a promotion for taking such good care of me. Ride Cyclery = great prices, great service and stellar attention to details. I'll be back.

Ride is a full service shop covering the full spectrum of bikes and accessories. I love the service and the fact that all the staff have as much of an obsession with cycling as I do.

I, as a customer, click on a Google link, as I been searching an item: of a specific product. the link be related to Ride Cyclery, as Ride Cyclery sells the item -- of this manufacturer. But the resulting page of the link/item = "404 page not found." This can only be related to Ride Cyclery's theory of operation that the items of this manufacturer are CONFIRMED TO NOT BE STOCKED IN THE STORE. ONLY ARE SPECIAL ORDERED. AND NON-REFUNDABLE. How would anyone like to confirm the product be the correct size/dimension/weight -- etc, when there be no refund, as there be no merchandise to the manufacturer in the store?
Even more as they are not competitive in their pricing?

service personnel were able to fix a creaking problem that had stumped me in five minutes!

This is my local shop and I have been here several times over the last few years. The customer service is very good and it is a friendly shop. If anyone asked, I would have recommended them. The other day they took it to the next level to make me write a post.

I was replacing my brake pads and bleeding my hydraulic brakes for the first time. I had bought a bleed kit from Amazon and have a lot of tools, so I thought I was ready to go. It turns out, the bleed kit for Shimano brakes also needs an extender that didn't come with my kit (road vs. mountain or newer version, I am not sure). I also didn't have a 7mm wrench. So back to Amazon - $7 (Park) wrench + $2 extender, delivery in 1 to 2 weeks. So I go to the shop and they have the wrench for $6. The funnel extender is not a part for sale, but they come with some new bikes and they have a few on hand. So they give me one.

I have gotten good advice on everything I have asked about from tires to repairs, shoes and nutrition. They don't all know everything, but they are not afraid to say they don't know and they ask around the shop for the person who does know.

I arrived in California from the midwest for vacation in late May 2017, with a spoke problem with my front wheel that I couldn't fix on my own. I showed up on a Monday morning and the Ride staff fixed my issue on the spot in about 20 minutes, and I was riding by noon! Very helpful and great job.

RIDE is RAD. Go here. Super knowledgeable and cool cats. Lots of skinny tire spandex stuff, but don't let scare you off... they know their shiz on the real deal dirt. BIKE BUILD OUT IS INSANE!!! THANK YOU!!!!

Brought my bike in with issues shifting on the front shifter. Adam did a great job on getting it working like a charm. I was told by the person that I bought the bike from that he had brought it into other bike shops with no success in getting it fixed. I highly recommend Adam and RIDE Cyclery.

Shady business practices. No where on their website do they state that they do not offer refunds even on new, unopened, unused products. CORRECTION: At the very end right before checkout at the bottom there is a return policy; it is easy to miss and it is not in the typically locations. I still stand my original review, however. Avoid this shop for online purchases. I have worked at bikes shops and purchased from many many bike shops online and not once have I heard of such a policy. This is a shady business practice by some greedy owners to try to keep people's money. They will offer credit. So once they have your money, they will not give it back. Unreal. Update: They also just recently sent me someone package. I agreed to print a new shipping label they sent me and forward it on to the original buyer. Again, I question on the online sales aspect. I cannot speak for the ground business service.

Just blew a tire right in front of Ride and miles from my house. Stranded and annoyed, I was happy to see an employee out front that could help. Asked them for an air pump, and his reply was... "Sorry... I already locked up, but there's a Shell gas station a half mile down the street." Now I'm walking with my mountain bike a half mile away because of their lack of assistance. Won't be going back.

Came in to buy a small part tor my bike and received super disrespectful attitude...
when I went to the other bike shop near by, the guy didn't had the part - so he disassembled it from one of the display bikes and gave it to me - this is customer service and you guys should learn it!

RIDE cyclery is by far the best bike shop in North County San Diego. they are awesome and I highly recommend you go there for whatever you need.

Chris took the time to walk me through the many differences between the majority of the mountain bikes in the store and had no problem setting up the bikes that I was interested in for test rides. He even set up my bike rack on my vehicle before I left. Knowledgeable staff, military discount, and excellent service. Very pleasant shopping experience.

My wife & I had a 4 day vacation in planned in Southern Cal so we decided to rent road bikes to travel 101 & see the sights. We rented for Ride Cyclery it was a super positive experience. The entire staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the bikes we rented and the surrounding area. It is not your A typical rental shop, you can tell these guys specialize in higher end bike sales but took the time to fit us to our rental bikes & the bikes we rented were carbon frame super nice bikes.
I would highly advise renting or shopping at RIDE if for no other reason than their exceptional customer service.

The one thing nicer than going in an looking at Ride Cyclery's very nice road bikes is talking with their staff. To a man and woman, they know their stuff, and are committed to making your experience in their store a positive one. My questions have ranged from bike wienie mechanical stuff to what local ride is coming up, and they are most helpful. I have used them for bicycle assembly and tune ups. My bicycle(s) have come back perfectly each time. They do not make mistakes. Have an issue that MUST be resolved? Trust Brent and staff, they will have your bike perfectly tuned. Want a set of Zipp 202's? They have a wheelset trial program! Want to do a spin class? Stop by Wednesday at 6:15, and BTW, say "hi" 'cause I will be there! Love these guys!

Great customer service and expert knowledge about bicycles.

I usually go to one of several local shops when I need service (RIDE being one of them) but today RIDE won 100% of my future business with their service department.

My Sram Red front shifter had stopped working and another lbs said it needed replacing. I brought to RIDE for a second opinion. They took their time looking at it and asking questions even asking about my non OEM hood covers. In the end they came to the same conclusion as the first shop. Satisfied that the shifter did indeed need to be replaced I agreed to the $360+ repair and left my bike at the shop.

They called back 15 minutes later and said they were thinking more about it and discovered my hoods were the cause of the problem. Their honesty and knowledge saved me hundreds of dollars.

Great bikes and gear. Super friendly and knowlegable crew.

This review does not reflect their work, but customer service. Riding in a group Sunday one of our riders had a flat, hours online we re different then current likely bc of COVID, understandable. We were 15 min after closing, they did greet us as they were sweeping/closing (2-stars). We explained and asked if they had a pump or an adapter to help, the response yes, we do and can definitely help you...10 AM on Wednesday. I really just did not appreciate the sarcasm and attitude, a simple no, sorry would have been fine, or take 5 minutes and our money so we can continue riding.

I needed an adjustment on my derailleur and stopped by Ride Cyclery in Encinitas on my commute home. I was pleasantly surprised by the warm and friendly culture of this business. All employees were super cool, friendly and happy. You could tell they loved what they do and the owner took care of them. I was in a rush as I had to catch the train and they took care of me on the spot. I was in and out in a flash. The technician was exceptional, passionate and very proud of his work. This was a refreshing experience and a huge step up from every other bike store I had experienced. Big kudus for creating such an incredible store. I really liked how open everything was with lots of light and large open doors/windows. Very cool setup. I will definitely be back and highly recommend them. I felt their pricing on service was excellent value since you get a rock star technician working on your bike.

Super friendly staff and very helpful. Placed an order on Saturday,monday afternoon it arrives. Days before the actual date that I was told. So that's a plus. Brought my old wheel to exchange parts and it was done very fast and well. First time shopping here and they just got a satisfied customer for future things I will need along the way

Kudos to the staff at RIDE - the most helpful and friendly crew in town.

Knowledgeable staff that diagnosed an intermittent clicking sound as a hub malfunction. They overhauled the hub and provided a courtesy check of the rest of the bike. They even gave me a complementary battery for my CatEye that was fading. I have been riding the bike now for a week and the clicking is affirmatively fixed. Would recommend RIDE Cyclery to others.

Bought the Ride Cyclery road kit for my wife. The jersey was too small but with a simple phone call, Ride staff handled it. They gave a credit on the other (wrong size) one and shipped the right size the same day. That's customer service done beyond the call of duty!

Excellent service. I've had several wheel and bottom bracket issues and Nick and the service team solved them quickly, usually right in the spot.

The folks over at RIDE Cyclery Encinitas demonstrate an unmatched professionalism, friendliness, and knowledge of bikes and cycling. I went in the to store only knowing that I wanted a bike but having no clue what kind to buy. Chase carefully listened to me and matched me with the perfect bike to fit all of my needs and goals. What's more, I got a flat tire shortly after purchasing the bike, and they not only fixed the tire without charging me for labor, they also taught me how to fix a flat in the event it happens again. They go out of there way to provide outstanding customer service and made sure I was 100% satisfied with my bike and overall experience. These guys are awesome! They're extremely knowledgeable, patient, and they take their time answering any questions you might have. I shopped down the road in Encinitas at the other bike shop and felt so hard pressed by the sales clerk to purchase a three thousand dollar bike I didn't want or need. Wow!
