Service was fine. Food was about as average as it gets (bad honestly ). The Greek lamb dish was a little pricey and very greasy low quality meat. The fish sandwich had way too greasy fish but the fries were good. Won't be going back
My first time here was excellent. The waitress was attentive and the corned beef hash is great with tender meat and slightly al dente bell peppers. You'll be seeing me again!
Terrible food. Biscuits and gravy had some kind of chili pepper in it which made it hot and spicy. Not a place that we will return to.
Their country fried steak is great! Friendly, fast service. Never a long wait. Love this place!
The service was great they have a great breakfast menu. It is a traditional breakfast style of restaurant. The food was really good and didn't take long. They also have breakfast cocktails
Best hole-in-the-wall place with homemade EVERYTHING, peach mimosa, and warm service. Shhh! Don't tell anyone about this tiny gem! P.s. ask for Matt
We eat here at least two Saturdays a month. Great food. Very comfortable. Awesome coffee. Fantastic staff, especially Jared ! ! !
Perfect combo of diner meets boutique breakfast! It has many traditional and non-traditional diner options with the best local ingredients, including the famous Hemplers bacon and Tony s coffee! It s not often you find a breakfast spot that offers good pricing and good ingredients. Ohh and to top it off they have mimosa and bloodys. Food is served with a smile and it s a truly great atmosphere.
Large portions, friendly atmosphere. Reasonably priced. The quintessential , iconic diner.
Excellent food! Had the banana bread french toast and it was amazing! Staff was very friendly and attentive. A must visit!
I have been to Rhodes Cafe on multiple occasions, in different company, but most often with my husband. We have always been very satisfied. The food is great (esp their bacon and hashbrowns), and service is quick. I/we are especially fond of one of their servers: Jared. It always seems to be a busy time when we see Jared, yet he always makes time to make us feel welcome... with a big smile, and present the menu offerings in an extra special way. For example, white [toast], is not just white toast with Jared... it's "Rustic White". And that may be an example of what and how he's been told to describe the food... but we've been there enough to know, we only recall Jared describing the food at Rhodes like this! It's sometimes the small things/ details, that go a long way. Way to go Jared... keep smiling!
The food is always good, and my wait has always been short. Only complaint is they turned away some guy at 2:30 because they were done seating people. I get that staff wants to get out ASAP, but maybe say you close at 2:30 instead of 3 if this is the case.
In order to have an exceptional time eating out, there must be fun attentive service. Matt, our server, was personable, funny, and knowledgeable. We got delicious food and knew we were being taken care of the entire time! Thank you Matt and the Rhodes Cafe for a fantastic Saturday brunch date with my husband!
Good food, easy access for parking. Only breakfast and lunch, but serves lunch all morning.
I believe it's family owned, the service was amazing and friendly! Always in a positive mood.
The WHOLE family loves this place . It is rare that everyone ( parents and kids ) agree on a place to eat . EVERYONE agrees on Rhodes cafe. The food is so so good. And the staff is awesome. Jarrod always makes you feel that he is so happy that you are there. Our favorite go to family cafe without a doubt.with or without the kids . Love the new addition of bloody marys as well.
Really good food and the waiter Matt is excellent! Has good recommendations and is quick and easy to talk to!
Great little cafe. Fast service, great food and wonderful staff.
Really nice place. Staff is very friendly and the food is good.
It doesn t get any friendlier than this place, great food, great service, can t go wrong.
Excellent service! The menus changes to incorporate locally sourced menus items. Great coffee and plenty to choose from.
Best hole in the wall for breakfast! Love their country fried steak n eggs.
Always great food and excellent service. Prices are reasonable.
Has the best breakfast around! Large portions and you can tell they really care about what they re putting on your plate. Servers are always super helpful a friendly. Will be dining here often!
Rhodes Cafe was really good. The western omelette was fantastic!
love this place, miss the grandma. But great coffee and food!
A super solid breakfast and lunch place. My general go to for a good bacon and egg.
Great food, and what nice people! Kim is the best, she is the heart of the place!
Not many option for vegetarians...pretty standard American fare
Quaint little cafe that's never too busy. It has great service and quality food made from scratch. The Greek options are especially delicious.
The food is fantastic. Service is as well. Love the coffee. The perfect place to eat breakfast after church on Sunday s
Food was hot, good and fast. Just like a cafe should be.
This is out go to spot for my daughter and I for pancakes. She claims they have the best strawberry pancakes. They brought is bignets which was a cute touch. We pretended we were at Cafe Du Monde watching this paddlewheelers.
We were just going to the strip mall to return some DVD's and laundry. We were hungry and saw this place and neither of us have been here and so we agreed to give it a try. Food was good and the portion size were nice and cost was fair. It was a nice experience. Staff was nice and polite also.
Typical "hole in the wall". Really great food, good price and friendly service. Plus it's kinda quiet and low key; no screaming toddlers.
This morning was my first time ordering food here, absolutely delicious and quick for pickup.
I've been going here since the older couple ran the place. Food has stayed about the same over the years. I am done going because of the owner. He is rude, takes away minor amenities, and has a constant change over in staff--probably because he is a so anti-social. The staff is not the problem. They are almost always new. Current owner is also the cook. He should stick to just that because he has no social skills. I finally decided there are too many friendly restaurants in Bellingham to support. I will watch for the announcement of a new owner and then go back.
Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was fantastic, hash browns were perfectly crisp, and the biscuits were fluffy. Definitely will eat here again!
This place is awesome! Can't believe I've been in Bham for 2 years and just today went for the first time. The hash browns are the best ever. Perfect amount of crispy but not dry. The sausage gravy, biscuits and sausage patties were spot on. The pancakes were chewy but not heavy. My vision of perfect pancakes. From now on when anybody asks me where to get breakfast I won't hesitate to tell them Rhodes cafe! Customer service is great too. What you'd expect from a small homey place.
Prompt service just before noon on a Saturday. Food was good, recommend trying the breakfast gyro!
Always have a great experience here! Best breakfast food I ve ever tried the French toast is unbelievable. I didn t look the most put together and well dressed and I was still treated equally as every other customer and it felt great!
Great little place to escape to on the weekends when lines are long at the more popular breakfast joints. This strip-mall diner serves a straightforward menu of eggs. sandwiches and a couple of Greek items. Food is basic, fast and serviceable.
I just had lunch at Rhodes for the first time, and it was fantastic! I was short on time, and they were QUICK- even though I didn t ask them to hurry. Was served by Quinn, a sweet, efficient young lady who did a great job with an awesome smile! The fries are fresh- read- fresh cut potatoes- not frozen- and the portion was gargantuan, as was the sandwich I ordered. Can t go wrong here.
Great breakfast at a really good price. Timely service from friendly waitstaff and the owner Brian came by the table to make sure we were enjoying our food. Will go back!
Ordered delivery through viking food. we called with a few questions, the lady was super helpful and left us a note in our delivery bag :) the food was delicious!!
One of the best hidden gems in Bellingham. Best diner food around, and almost never a wait. Food comes out super fast and staff is friendly. Don't judge this book by its cover, this is where you should be going to for brunch.
Always impressed by the food that comes out. Must try the Bene Hill! Clean, and great service. My favorite stop for breakfast in Bellingham
What is not to love about this place, I started coming in a lot in the last year, servers are all exceptionally friendly. I have had experience with all 3 and they are so friendly and personable every time! We normally have Matt and on More
This is our new go to place. Great service. The food is fast, tasty and economical. The Chicken Lemon Rice soup is a favorite.
Five stars!! free coffee ;) love this place, fantastic food, got the berry berry berry compote french toast
Omg this menu! I would eat here everyday if I lived closer!! Wonderful staff!
Rhodes Cafe, Rhodes is located off lakeway Ave. Next to Radio Shack. For a small restaurant the food is very good and service is great as well. Busy times are usually on Saturday mornings so expect a wait if you want to eat breakfast on the weekend.
Rhodes cafe offers fast and friendly service. The atmosphere is like a diner and the food is tasty, made fresh, and served quickly. Bonus: they have 3 vegetarian friendly omelettes on the menu!
We come here weekly for breakfast. We leave fed well both body and spirit. Jarred and kim. keep us laughing and food is delicious. Love the biscuits and hash browns with onions.
This place was great when Kim worked there. But since she's left, the service has been terrible and our last server was rude and tried to tell us what we had to order. We've ordered the same thing for 2 years. Would not recommend to anyone anymore, reduced from 5 to 1 star.
Loooooooong waits (45+min) while forgotten by staff (had to get up and ask for water) and their refusal to spilt a meal or even allow us a 2nd plate does not make me want to return. Food was ok.
edit: Owner responded on Facebook with blame and rudeness. I suggest that you go anywhere else. I believe that service is as important as the food and this place does not understand that. Lowered a star for response.
My wife and I love this place! Best pancakes and corn beef in town. And the servers are very friendly. We've had Matt a number of times including a recent visit in which they were quite busy. He was patient when we wanted to wait to get a booth, and he was quick to clean it up when he saw one opened up. The food came fast and we didn't have to wait for the check. Which was great because we had a lot of chores ahead for the day. Can't recommend this place enough!
Not fancy which is exactly what I was looking for. The "Corn Beef Hash" was excellent. I ordered a pancake on the side and it was bigger than the plate. I appreciated having a choice of medium or dark roast coffee. Excellent service.
Bad service. Food wasn't much better than previous owners.
I used to go to Rhodes Cafe when it was owned by Judy and George because the food was great, the staff were amazing and the service the fastest in town. I've gone a few times since the ownership changed and have increasing been displeased. Today my husband and I showed up on 3/25/18 before the church crowd. We got a seat right away as there were many empty tables. We waited quite awhile for our server to take our order. We almost left before the food arrived but stuck it out after waiting well over an hour to receive our one order of the Farmers Omelet. The server forgot our side of bacon and when I asked for it he apologized and then a couple minutes later came back and asked if we had asked him for bacon. The two young staff seemed more preoccupied with flirting with each other than waiting tables. The other server seemed to be busting her hump the best she could for her side of the room. The omelet had runny egg whites and egg yolks which is interesting since we omitted tomatoes and cheese from the dish which would lead to a runnier omelet. When the bacon showed up they were very generous sized slices which was great. However the ends were very near uncooked with the fat. Some fat is good under cooked, this was just too much and then there was a piece of metal shaving or metal confetti stuck to the bacon, it was about an inch and a half long. When my husband went to the counter to pay our bill, our waiter didn't remember being our server and was trying to find the bill from the other servers tickets. Then when my husband explained where we sat and what we ordered and he was our server, he finally remembered. I know everyone has a bad day from time to time, but this coupled with poor service, the under cooked food with metal shavings just sealed the nail on this coffin. We will not be coming back.
One of my favorite breakfast spots in Bellingham. Fresh ingredients, fast & friendly service, generous portions. Truly a gem
We have been coming here for more years than I have fingers and toes. The staff knows our preferences and cooks them to perfection. They are friendly and work to know people by name. The smoked salmon scramble is mostly salmon surrounded by a bit of egg. They are not skimpy. Most importantly for me, the coffee is really good!
Country fried steak was chewy and hard to eat. Eggs had a bad texture. Server was great. Have no desire to come back based on the food I tried though.
The only reason I've awarded Rhodes a "one-star" is there is no category for "zero stars". What an experience. We have a group of guys that have Tuesday morning breakfast at different restaurants around Bellingham. Today was Rhodes' turn and, while unremarkable food, it was generally good and the atmosphere conducive to conversation. Three of us came in at opening, 7:00 am. and headed for the large group table. The owner (I'm only assuming he was the owner because an employee would never act like this.), came out of the kitchen and asked what we wanted. I said there was a group of from 6 to 8 that would be coming for breakfast. He said the table was reserved for another group. I asked if we could move some other tables together to accomodate us and he said he had another group coming too and we couldn't sit there. By the way, we were the only people in the place. We asked if other tables could be moved together and he responded "Why don't you go somewhere else!" The three of us looked at each other and I asked politely, "What?" He responded "I said go somewhere else!" We left and went somewhere else, vowing to never return and spread the word about what a jerk he was. If I were the employees there I would look for a change of location for work as I doubt this cretin will be in business long. The guy was rude and doesn't deserve to be in a public-service business.
Food was ok service good. It was a hot day and we wanted refills on our pops. I couldn t believe when they said no refills. I won t go to a place that will charge for refills at those prices.
Great food, great prices, and an incredible selection! If you want traditional "diner food" or a healthier option, Rhodes has it all!! A perfect spot to not only eat good food, but support a local business!
Wife and I had breakfast while having our tires rotated at Discount Tire
Great food, very friendly service. Would not hesitate to return!
Strangely we have struggled to find a good breakfast place in the Blaine area. Rhodes is in South Bellingham and quite a drive just for breakfast, but when we come into town for other purposes, Rhose will be on the top of our list for breakfast in town.
I'm from Arkansas and I can honestly say that the biscuits and gravy including their country fried steak with hashbrowns is awesome! They also have really good organic coffee. The serving sizes are a bit large which can be bad for plate clearing people that get full before finishing. LOL. The prices are good for the amount of food you get.
Good food and great service! A nice place for a good meal at a reasonable price.
The one and only place we have breakfast. Awesome quick service, friendly servers (hi Kim ) and delicious food! Definitely reccomend the corned beef hash and George's omelet. Love love love this place!!!
The only downside is this food is so delicious, it makes it impossible to eat anywhere else.
One of the only places in Whatcom County that you can get an eggs benedict that's right
Went in because of the reviews. This little gem did not disappoint. We had 4 of us and food within 15 minutes. Great service, wonderful food and staff. Highly recommend for breakfast and lunch.
Love this place. Village potatoes are great, coffee is good and service is amazing.
Every since this place has been under new management, it's gone downhill, would not recommend.
I ordered take out today, oh my goshhh it was incredible! The biscuits and gravy were savory and fulfilling and all that good stuff. Thank you so so much for feeding me!
Great for casual breakfasts. Portions are generous and prices reasonable. Also lunch menu but just been there for breakfast.
Great service. Matt was very friendly and attentive. It was quite busy and yet he kept our coffee and water glasses full. The food is great. Best homemade hash browns.
The food never disappoints the service is almost always great, today the service was terrible, plz dont let this GUY influence effect you this is a great place
They have a very friendly wait staff the food is excellent they make their own chicken fried steak the kitchen staff knows what they're doing all in all it's well worth the time and money to eat there
Really weird waiters at this place. Food was ok, not the greatest. I won't be going back.
Great service, healthy portions, and bangin omlettes all for a good price! Awesome brunch spot my dudes
M&M Home Repair LLC we had the corn beef hash today super delicious perfectly cook by Gary and our service was fantastic from Jared and we love to come here.
Mike
Foot was great, cheap, and the service was fast and attentive
We needed a hearty breakfast and found this little gem. The food was great and the hashbrowns perfect. Farmers omelette!! Yum. We will be back
