I used to go to Rhodes Cafe when it was owned by Judy and George because the food was great, the staff were amazing and the service the fastest in town. I've gone a few times since the ownership changed and have increasing been displeased. Today my husband and I showed up on 3/25/18 before the church crowd. We got a seat right away as there were many empty tables. We waited quite awhile for our server to take our order. We almost left before the food arrived but stuck it out after waiting well over an hour to receive our one order of the Farmers Omelet. The server forgot our side of bacon and when I asked for it he apologized and then a couple minutes later came back and asked if we had asked him for bacon. The two young staff seemed more preoccupied with flirting with each other than waiting tables. The other server seemed to be busting her hump the best she could for her side of the room. The omelet had runny egg whites and egg yolks which is interesting since we omitted tomatoes and cheese from the dish which would lead to a runnier omelet. When the bacon showed up they were very generous sized slices which was great. However the ends were very near uncooked with the fat. Some fat is good under cooked, this was just too much and then there was a piece of metal shaving or metal confetti stuck to the bacon, it was about an inch and a half long. When my husband went to the counter to pay our bill, our waiter didn't remember being our server and was trying to find the bill from the other servers tickets. Then when my husband explained where we sat and what we ordered and he was our server, he finally remembered. I know everyone has a bad day from time to time, but this coupled with poor service, the under cooked food with metal shavings just sealed the nail on this coffin. We will not be coming back.
