Restaurant La Plume Review

I came here by myself as I was traveling for work and didn't want to go far from my hotel for food. I sat outside and the two very polite wait staff made recommendations. The Chicken Ceasar salad was fantastic and authentic; the chicken was warm from grilling and the rest of the salad was cool and fresh. Afterwards, I had the ticka masala with shrimp. The dish was good and the sweet caramelised onion rice was a easant surprise, I will be coming back here again when I can bring some friends or family. Highly recommended.

In advance I would like to say that I am very flabbergasted, how many speak English and German in the Netherlands. We caught a waitress who spoke both very well. She even explained to me which beer tastes like. Had a very tasty beer with a goblin which met my taste 100%. It was awesome. I also liked the regular and subtle look over if we still need something. I wish I could give a name here. We ordered a starter consisting of different sausages and bread for 4 people. The dishes also tasted very high quality. All in all, it was a great visit. Thank you

Best spare ribs in Haarlem, and that's saying something! Great to sit outside in tge sun, just get early to get a good table. The menu is good and varied but we loved the ribs. Staff were friendly and helpful and could point us in the direction of a gezellige bar afterwards.

This is a terrible mess tent. I was sitting here on the terrace with a friend. There were quite a few staff members around, too much compared to the number of guests. It was regularly checked whether our glass was already empty. This gave me the feeling that I had to keep ordering quickly. As soon as you finish your last sip, your glass is cleared and asked if you want to order anything.

When another person joined us later in the evening, a woman also came to find a place for the 'group' she was with and who would no longer look after the long couch we were already sitting on. Together with the staff, this woman went on to discuss in detail how it should ever fit, because yes, we were already there. You can't feel more looked away. The worst thing was that the staff went along with it. The woman in question continued to revolve around us repeatedly and was literally waiting for us to leave. I have never felt so rushed at a tent where I spend money on the assembly line. The staff does not sell 'no' but does allow the already seated to leave. In the end the woman got her coveted place with three other guests.

Very tasty main dish (rendang). Even the side dish (salad) was very tasty, usually really not a very interesting side dish. But very tasty here.
It seems to be quite busy, so book or wait at the bar.

It was very busy but the staff was prudent and very nice.

Super tasty. Because of this we were regularly asked if we wanted to drink something. We felt that they wanted us to quickly make way for the next customers.

Every year when we are in Haarlem by boat, we eat at la Plume: that says enough. So top!

Next to the St. Bavo, cozy interior, friendly staff, good food, not expensive.

Definitely recommend this place and particularly the rib roast which is a 400g steak with a great piripiri butter - a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Prices are good, friendly, helpfull staff and a nice place in general.

The service is good, food tasty, but the kitchen cannot handle the crowds.

Right in the center of Haarlem - it is a bit tight inside but very cozy - reservation in advance is recommended - food is good quality - nice assortment of wines available.

Last night as main course Arugula-pommodori salad (vega) with olives, basil and buffalo mozzarella. For the price of 13.50. It wasn't more than tomato and mozzarella. No dressing, no bread, nothing. I could only add oil and vinegar myself. A scandalous price for really three times nothing. The quantity cannot serve as a main course in any way either. We have already eaten there a few times, but yesterday was the last time.

Delicious eaten at La Plume! Cheerful, pleasant service and the spareribs were chosen on the advice of the waitress. This was an excellent choice! A fantastic ending to a beautiful day in Haarlem!

Ordered food here during the corona period. Everything arrived on time, warm, and delicious! Highly recommended. Always had a nice meal at La Plume itself, but they also do this great!

Delicious food and very friendly service. Beautiful location. A real letdown was that we got our drinks in dirty glasses with the lipstick and lipprints of the previous guests still on. Especially in times of corona this is really not possible. Luckily we saw it in time and sent the drinks back.

I visited La Plume a couple of times for drinks and dinner.
I loved having dinner there. It's chic and cozy at the same time.
The food was always very delicious and I enjoyed my every visit.
I recommend Chicken Tika Masala and Spicy Peking Duck (Pikante pekingeend).

Staff are not unfriendly, staff are RUDE !!!! the terrace was already empty, and apparently he didn't feel like people on his terrace.

When my child had to cry when she hit her head we were looked at very angry by all the staff.
I approached the staff about this behavior, and I also received a childish reply that I should learn to restrain my child.
And to top it all off, I also got the answer that their children never cried in restaurants ....
My child is 2 after all.

The crispy Duck salad is fantastic, pleasant service.
If the fries were artisanal, this would do even more justice to the kitchen.
Mayonnaise, on the other hand, was delicious.

Spareribs are excellent so far the best I have ever had, the location is nice too and dining outside in the summer is great.

La Plume is always good! For a nice evening or a quick bite you are at the right place at la plume and the kitchen is also open a little longer than the rest of the restaurants in haarlem

Everything was delicious. But some dishes was too spicy

Went on a saturday night, was a pretty fun atmosphere, the place is cool , the staff was very nice with us , because we wanted to eat but the kitchen was closing so they were very fast in taking our order so that we can eat. Very impressed by that , because other restaurants they just refussed serving us. The burgers were amazing, definitely recommend !

Nice and conveniently close to Ambassador Hotel. Cream of carrot soup late in the evening. Friendly service.

It is good food at La Plume in a cozy environment. Through the open kitchen you also have a view of the work of the cooks. And they deliver great work. Staff is nice and fast, sometimes a little too fast; one person has just picked up the order and the other one comes along again. In short, a fine restaurant.

One of the few restaurants open later. We had low expectations but the food was amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly. Great spot to people watch. Service was excellent too.

Atmospheric restaurant on the corner of the Lange Veerstraat / Damstraat with a view of the majestic Grote Kerk or Sint Bavo cathedral with a varied menu. I have come here for about 30 years for the famous pork tenderloin on a skewer. Always well seasoned and tender, although the satay sauce may be slightly less salty.
In terms of seating comfort it is a typical Haarlem 'squeeze'. Small tables, close together. The operation is usually smooth although it is noticeable that the team is always very young. Somewhat more elderly people in the team would benefit the diversity.
Price / quality ratio is reasonable in terms of food, alcoholic drinks are on the expensive side. But all in all one of the nicest restaurants in Haarlem!
