Friendly staff, great food, and a nice ocean view ...
Friendly staff, great food, and a nice ocean view from the second floor
Friendly staff, great food, and a nice ocean view from the second floor
One of our go to places when friends visit. Nice ambience, fantastic upstairs room (if you can get a table) with views over point danger to the ocean. Lovely food and drinks.
Very nice place with an awesome view of the ocean. Try any of the delicious breakfast that they serve
Good coffee in a good spot, nice and efficient service
I think Dbar is a really nice place and they serve really nice food and the people there are really friendly it's a cafe i will go to again
Great views, friendly staff and they do awesome Breakfasts!
Great spot, beautiful views, good food (a little pricey). Loses one star as the staff were somewhat rude, and not really helpful or friendly.
3 stars only because my experience yesterday was fantastic and the reason I came back. unfortunately two different experiences. Came here yesterday was greeted and served by a lovely lady. Quick and friendly and great food. Today, well not so good. Understaffed!! One waiter seating table after table and forgetting about the people already seated. Got my drink quickly but had to leave without breakfast as nobody took my order. Two tables around me who came in after me were served first and then no waiter in side. Sorry guys but not good enough.
Lovely food and good service, the view is to die for
While the food is good, for the price the serving is very not generous. Eggs Benedict in photo is $20. Single piece of toast!!
Coffee is OK.
Service is a little slow but great food when it does show up.
Great place, best coffee and great food and views definitely go back
Good enough coffee but don t know what makes this place think they are so special they can charge $1 more for a large takeaway coffee than everywhere else.
Great place for an early morning coffee with fantastic views
Great atmosphere in an idyllic setting, the breakfast menu was impressive and the meals we choose were delicious. B very helpful and friendly staff!
I ordered the linguini carbonara and I've gotta say, I've never been happier. The pasta is creamy and delicious. You definitely get that succulent taste of bacon and mushroom in every bite! The portion size is perfect. We had a very nice romantic dinner on this our 34th anniversary. Service was great food was delish and desert was great. We want to support local people and this is a great place. If you want a nice comfy place to eat this is the place to go Food is always great and consistent!
Busy cafe. Food great, need more staff during peak times. Highly recommend.
Sorry to rate this only a 2. Really slow service for just a coffee. I asked for banana bread but was told, yes they have it but you can t order it as it s on the breakfast menu and that finished 5 mins ago.
I was ok with that but then told I can t order anything else either... till the lunch menu starts up in 30 mins. Okkkk!!
The coffee is nice but $5 for lukewarm coffee is kind of not that great. But least it wasn t burnt.
Great location
Good food good coffee
Busy if you are not an early bird
Been coming here for years and is a nice way to start our getaway but today not so good. Staff where good and took our order but went down hill from there, the food was a long time in coming and not what we where after bit hit and miss.
Terrible: none of the staff could agree on what ingredienta were in the different menu items. No kids option. Very overpriced. Not impressed at all.
The food was okay, however very overpriced. The staff (one of the waitresses in particular) was very unfriendly, rude and unwelcoming. My mother asked for gluten free options and she was accusingly asked are you a coeliac? , the waitress obviously making the judgment that she was only following a good trend. She is infact a coeliac and has never had to prove herself at a cafe before. Not to mention that the only GF option was eggs on toast with overprice gluten free toast (the potatoes weren t even gluten free!) My family and I have been going to D Bar cafe for several years and have always enjoyed the experience, however the recent change in staff has put a huge damper on our opinion of the venue.
Great views, delicious turmeric latte and apple pie
good location, good coffee, good food, not expensive
Never liked that place. Despite premium location. No friendly staff.
Had a nice though expensive breakfast here. Upstairs is part of a view but to see the waves rolling in you have to go to the viewing point. Would go back.
Decent food but I ve never experienced such sassy staff in my life. There was one nice man working upstairs but the ladies who served us were awful and I will NEVER return. Some serious leadership is needed.
Attentive staff. Excellent food. I had a delicious burger, my wife had the snapper. Very pleased.
My partner & I loved the appeal of Cafe Dbar on Insta. We did come during a "peak" time of day, but I don't know that that can excuse just how disappointing our experience was. First it took ages for the staff to clear empty tables to sit us, then once we were seated, it took 15min before someone could bring us menus & water. Drinks service was slow - our meals came out before our drinks. My meal was good (vegie burger) but my partner ordered a chicken burger with the SMALLEST, DRIEST piece of fried chicken!!! We were not asked or offered the menu to order drinks or anything else but again I had to wait a good 10min before I could pay my bill.
Best raisin bread and coffee ever...great staff will come back
Visited numerous times over years as a local. Overall, review = average.
On the negative...typically slow service, expect to wait a while, even for something simple and surprisingly when it doesn't appear all that busy. Quite pricey for what you get too... possibly paying for the location. Service personality is variable. More often friendly though. Not very good at coffee orders that are not the usual basics.
On the positive... Coffee is good if you order something basic. Good location for a takeaway coffee, being able to walk across the carpark to point danger lookouts. Have had some good food there in the past and more often than not friendly service.
I love the view from here. Sit outside downstairs and see the ocean or dine inside upstairs and see even more ocean! Coffee, juices, food, staff are all awesome!
Location is amazing. I've had much better eggs Benny and coffee elsewhere
Despite there being no better view on the GC, the food is now OK and the service wanting. The menu used to be incredibly innovative and fresh (smoked trout salad, shortboards, chia pudding), now it seems to be a choice between over-priced boring healthy food and hamburgers; and for breakfast the usual eggs and something, or pumpkin. Dbar also now boast the GC's most expensive Acai bowl for $18.
Don't know what happened Dbar, but I'm sad to say I think I'll only be coming here for coffee from now on.
3/3 stars for the food, coffee and location. Food was tasty and fairly priced. Coffee was strong and well made. Location is a great place to watch the world go by. Parking across the road - if you are lucky! Otherwise further down the street.
0/2 stars for typical Aussie service strategy.... seat yourself, get a menu yourself and order yourself. At this stage it's probably easier to make me get my own meal and cut back on staff (please don't do that!). In saying that, staff were friendly and enthusiastic.
Great menu, fantastic view, just a perfect place for a relaxing coffee or meal.
Food and location exceptional and such happy and accommodating staff.
Love, love this place. Consistently great food and coffee. Location is spectacular. Love the diversity on offer with gourmet offerings. Great to walk up to Danger Point and be rewarded with great coffee + friendly smiles.
Had the Blue swimmer crab omelette today and youngest had Bec's Bacon and Egg burger with Cookie Monster Shake
Had a great early morning coffee here today. I m fussy with coffee - but this one was delicious! Fast service (even though they were still setting up). Good location, wouldn t like to go during the peak time s of the day! Good little business
Amazing view... but unfriendly & unwelcoming staff!!
Very busy Cafe with good food and service. Can be hard to get a table
After I neglected to read the sign describing how I should wait to be provided a seat and the only staff member thought I had been served as a result of my finding a table, I went to order. I found that, as breakfast had ended before 11am, I couldn't order from the lunch menu until after 11:30, necessitating a 20 minute wait to order. This was not printed on the menus provided. We were permitted to order from a small selection of snack foods but this was not appropriate. Once we ordered, it took 25 minutes before we were provided with two glasses of wine and a small bruschetta, far too long to wait for such a selection. To add insult to injury, the bill came to $40. For such a small amount of food, this was too expensive.
Visited Dbar on the suggestion of two friends who had recently had a great breakfast here. Upon sitting down we were informed that the kitchen was closed and we would have to order from the "all day snacks" menue which was mostly chips. After expressing our disappointment to our waitress she said she would ask the kitchen for us. We were in luck!
Long story short I got the crispy pork belly and soft shell crab tortillas with Kim Chi and asian slaw. All of the food was well cooked and prepared but I think the platter could have benefitted from a sauce to tie it all together (maybe a wasabi mayo).
My companions got a the burger and chips and fish and chips respectively and both were happy with their meals.
The view was stunning out across the headland and the service from our waitress was friendly and prompt. Will be back.
Great place to visit. Restaurant is at the great location. Food was above average but overpriced!
Dinning environment was shocking! I was having lunch with more than 10 flies around you.......
$$$$
Great location, tasty food, friendly staff, reasonable prices, never disappoints..
Great location by the sea to spot whales. Upstairs at this location gives the best views. Food was tasty and enjoyable. Quantity of food was good and left me feeling satisfied. Merlo wine with my lunch of flathead fish and pear salad was very enjoyable. This location is a regular stop for me to come and enjoy a coffee and magnificent fresh bake raspberry and chocolate muffin.
The $8 juice was watery and the $20 Asian omelette was lacking any flavour, it is a bit hard to justify the price but being such a fantastic location and sooo busy there is probably no real time for quality control
I quite briefly stopped in for a milkshake, but the staff were pleasant and even though the wait was a little bit long, the views surrounding the cafe were a brilliant substitute
Great shakes and smoothies. Orders can be tailored to specific dietry requirements if required.
Fresh modern cafe food. We received good service. Great for taking visitors, with the nice views from the lookout just across the road.
Coffee is good quality and well made, but noticeably more expensive than it might be.
Service is usually friendly, although the staff seem to be frazzled at all times.
The wait for even a coffee can be longer than it takes to drink it.
I've been there Saturday mid-mornings many times, and there has almost always been an idling delivery truck bringing milk in. This seems to be the least desirable time to have the milk delivered as it causes maximum disruption and blocks the already limited view.
a great spot for a lunch date with friends-great menu & a nice friendly atmosphere without attitude! service was great & all our meals divine. Can't wait to go back & try more of the menu.a browse & shop in the gallery was a lovely end to a beautiful lunch.
While enjoying a relaxing holiday at Coolangatta with my wife we have had the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful morning tea at Cafe Dbar, Coolangatta. Located on the opposite side where the Point Danger lookout is located.
Adequate seating is available outside, upstairs and downstairs at this cafe. You can order "Takeout" to go if you are on the run, we took the opportunity to enjoy the ambience of this beautifully located place.
Covid-19 pandemic restrictions are in place & when entering you can use your phone to scan or the staff will provide a form for you to complete your details.
The downstairs area is wheelchair friendly, if you wish to go upstairs you will need to use the steps, there is no lift access.
The outside area & some of the downstairs area are pet friendly.
Cafe Dbar has an excellent menu which caters for everyone including people who have special dietary requirements.
This cafe is also a licensed premises & has a fantastic range of wines and spirits, plus beers.
The coffee was made to perfection, could not complain. We also enjoyed their Banana Bread on our two visits to this cafe.
Customer Service was excellent & the waiting time was pretty good on our visits, will definitely be back when next on the Gold Coast.
Legit eggs, bread and a few bits of potato for $17 !?! Not even exaggerating, that s it. Not even a bit of butter on the bread. I asked if I could swap tomato for something else but they said it was complementary with the meal so they can t swap. But eggs, bread and potato is not worth $17. What a jokeeee.
I've been here 3 times now and I plan to keep visiting until I've tried everything on the menu.
Simple and surprisingly delicious meals at a very reasonable cost with amazing views of the ocean. Grab a seat in the upstairs dining to get the best views.
Awesome food, friendly staff, nice view.
Great experience
I had a terrible tasted hot chocolate and I also received unfriendly service. Will never return.
Multiple breakfasts here over the last couple of years and always enjoyed it. Often busy and so there can be waits but the food and coffee are good and it's a great open layout in a great location.
Best cafe in that part of town, have to get the thickshakes and the chips. Most heartmelting thickshakes out
The coffee tastes bitter and maybe the milk was off, couldn't put my finger on exactly why this coffee tasted so bad. Service was fine and the staff were friendly, great views from the Cafe.
Coffee was great, service was fast and efficient, and the food was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. Two Melbournian thumbs up!
