After sitting down to order we were advised that coffees would take 1/2 hr, after the receiving our drinks, and after we placed the order for food we were advised that this would take another 1/2 hour, now waiting for over 1 hr still no basic breakfast, one (1) Drink had to be reordered 3 times before they finally got it right.
On questioning when our food would arrive, as we have now been eating for over an hour they were most upset that we should have told them that we were in a hurry. Further discussion with the manager, where as I expressed my disappointment we were offered free drinks. Mean while when then the food turned up, to our suprise (not) some of the orders were wrong.and not apertising at all, remember this was just a breakfast basic at best.
When it came to paying, only 3 coffees were take of bill as moccas don t constitute a coffee. After advising that we would review this on trip adviser, Manager replied we do care go for it.
As a table of 10 people we found that there attitude, service and quality of food was not good. And to say the least appauling.
Do your self a favour just enjoy the view, and eat down the road.

Terrible. Don't order six coffees, I guess by the time they made the sixth one, the earlier ones were cold(received twenty minutes after ordering). The flat white had nearly two centimetres of froth. The muffins and cakes came twenty minutes after the coffees. We're locals and there's plenty of other places to go.

Excellent location. A great open air cafe with fabulous selection of food. We had breakfast/brunch here. Service was great and friendly. They have a great art gallery/ fashion store attached to the cafe which has great items. My overseas European visitors wee very impressed with the place. Well done!

We were long term fans of Cafe Dbar but now will not return. This morning we ordered the Avocado, Persian Fetta and Heirloom Tomotoes on toast with housemade tomato salsa. What we received was basic avo on toast with no fetta, no heirloom tomatoes and no salsa. When we requested fetta, we received two blocks of unmarinated fetta about 5 minutes later. If that wasn t enough, we were charged an extra $5 for the fetta and when we questioned this we were told that fetta doesn t come with the dish and that the waitress s manager told her to charge extra.

Always just the best. It can be a bit of a wait for an eat at lunchtime if the seating is at capacity, I mean like over 40 minutes so be prepared for a few pre lunch drinks while you wait! Food wise it s pretty good, but if you re a fan of buddha bowls forget this one as it s unadventurous and small and therefore overpriced. Three days later we had great service, good coffee and the service was very thoughtful.

Hi All, my experience with dbar cafe is not very positive. I called a staff member on 15/9/19 at around 9.45am sat morning to reserve a table for 4 since my sister and her friends, whose also a former naval officer wanted to have coffee together. The staff member told me that they don't do reservation but I could go there and it's empty.
I had lots of good reviews about dbar cafe so I persuaded my sister and her friends to go there. When we got there after terrible parking conditions it was packed with people. So I joined the queue in order to be served. I'm browned skin and When I got to the top of the queue the staff member told me that another lady who was behind me was before me who was white and I told no I was there first. So in order to get rid of me she told me that there is a table for 4 upstairs. No-one escorted me upstairs, when I went upstairs nothing was available.
I came downstairs and by this time rest of my friends were there. I felt bad. I stood waiting to be served and no-one helped. When I finally found a table for 4 down stairs downstairs without any help I was asked by a staff member to get up and move so she could sit someone else there who came way late after me. I can't forget how humiliated I felt at this stage and ashamed. I politely joined the queue again. Another staff member approached us and asked us to wait and WHEN someone has finished eating then we will get a table plus there is 45min wait on food. She took my phone number and left. It was 10.30am+ and by this time with heat building up, we gave up and left. We only wanted a good service but we got none. I felt humiliated. I work for nsw govt, my sister is a QA officer in sydney and my friends are naval officer and this wasnt the way we wanted to be served. I am not going back to dbar cafe and this business has now lost a customer along with others who will hopefully not go through what I went through. Thank you.

Absolutely awful , our meal arrived with an insect inside a piece of rice and the waiter was just so unpleasant. This review is being placed on all other AU review sites - I suggest the business owner removes this TrueLocal listing before more damage is done here.

Awesome views from the upstairs dining area but very busy and tables very close together so very easy to overhear conversations at the next table.

Food quality and price OK, nothing outstanding but also not disappointing.

I've eaten here several times now and would say the quality is fairly consistent.

Service is also good, and now that the table service upstairs is in action, it is a much more enjoyable process.

Coffee here is OK, and to date (I'll probably jinx myself now) have not had a burnt coffee or one too milky / weak (I drink cappuccino). Just make sure to check out the cake and slice options in the downstairs cabinet before heading upstairs - it's a PITA having to walk back down to see the options.

Overall a good option for breakfast or lunch, a coffee and cake. Unfortunately, parking can be a hassle so be prepared to do a few laps of the street and parking area to snag a parking spot.

My wife and I did enjoy coming here, the food was usually good but the position was the appeal. However, we came here on Mother's Day with my Mother-in-law for breakfast and had to wait for 55 minutes (I'm not one of these people who exaggerate for effect) from the time of order until we received our food. Now, I understand it was Mother's Day, but when we came with our two Children of 6 months and 3 years, keeping them entertained for that long became very tedious and we were not made aware that there would be an extended wait. After watching others arrive after us and then receive their dishes, we asked what was going on and how come others were receiving their meals before us. We were told that it is dependent on the dishes of what order they come out in, even though said table a full cooked breakfast, and that our was just being plated. Literally 15 minutes later when the food did arrive, 2 of the 3 dishes were not cooked and plated properly. My mexican fritters were cold and my eggs were so overdone they were yellow and hard. The same applied to my wife's dish her eggs were solid. I returned my dish, because, this place isn't exactly cheap, and my wife, ravenous, just dodged her eggs to satisfy her hunger. She is also lactating and getting over sickness so needed to keep her nutrients up; The staff asked if I would like my meal recooked and I said that we had to get going because it was Mother's Day and we had plans and the kids were getting very restless; and also by this point I'd lost my appetite. That was it, the staff were happy to leave us at that point! So I then asked to speak to the manager to voice my concerns, in which I did say it was uncharacteristic but the experience of today had left a sour taste in my mouth. She apologised and offered a gift certificate. I was happy to accept and willing to put the experience behind me. It wasn't until about 15 minutes later after a walk I had a look at the gift certificate, which had a value of... $15. $15, I was gobsmacked, it didn't even cover the price of my meal! When I went back to inquire about this insult I was told that because she had offered to recook my meal and we were told there was a wait (which by the way we were not) that she felt that was adequate. I simply asked if she valued our custom, and her reply was "well I can get a bigger gift certificate if you like". It was then apparent to me that this manager was completely missing the point, she evidently had no desire to appease my dire experience and so I gave her the gift certificate back and said we would never return. So I left, hungry, angry and $70 dollars out of pocket.

We enjoyed lunch upstairs. The buddha bowl was delicious. As soon as we sat down we saw whales. The ocean was glassy and calm making whale watching easy. We spotted quite a few. It was busy being a Sunday lunch and the staff took everything in their stride. Would definitely recommend and will return.

Had a ham and cheese croissant from there this morning, $10 was pretty pricy considering it was heated up in the microwave, was chewy and not crisp. Would prefer if they had toasted it. Great front of house service though!

Worst service I have ever experienced. Waited an hour for our food (most of which were smashed avo on toast), with people who were seated and ordered 30 minutes after us receiving their food (the same items that we were waiting on) well before us. No attempt to remedy the situation by staff. Was also charged a public holiday surcharge when it wasn't a public holiday... $5.50 for one poached egg. Would not reccomend going here ever.

Have been going to Cafe DBar for quite sometime now and it has always been outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Only down side is the limited park around the cafe.

$34 for lunch in a cafe is ridiculous. Thats what you pay in a fine dining restaurant. It s also disappointing that they stop serving breakfast at 10.30 and start lunch at 11.30. - OVERRATED -

BTW leaking roof on a rainy day. Thats an experience!!

I think it's a joke that breakfast finishes at 11am and lunch starts 11.30am on a sunday and father's day. A handfull of anchovies from the bar won't do it for me. Seems you are to famous and big already... wrong attitude
