Restaurant Kasteel Erenstein Review

Yesterday afternoon with friends celebrated a 50-year marriage of one of us with a lunch in Restaurant Kasteel Erenstein.

The food and matching wines were excellent and the service provided by the wait staff perfect.

For us a revelation.

We had rented an apartment next to the castle. The price quality ratio was not right.

Corona time. Been 4 nights last week. Breakfast at a distance is no problem. But immediately choose between 3 types of breakfast at check-in. English breakfast or Continental or Healthy. But so the same 4 times in a row did not seem nice to us. So alternated. (Wonder why not being able to tick off more personally per sandwich and topping etc. The day before. Too much work for sure.) Got more spacious room than booked. So for 2 people a 4 person room. Only heavily dated furnishings. 90s look. Bathroom okay. And balcony. Up 3 flights of stairs .... unfortunately.
Restaurant was nice in the castle. Was only a few minutes walk. Table was also designated according to corona rules. Enough distance. Still quite well stocked at Fletcher. We had a 3-course dinner for 4 days. But when we got the same undercooked stir-fry vegetables on the third day, we asked on the fourth night if we could add other vegetables. Then they were very difficult and had to buy vegetables from the menu. But there was nothing to choose from. Same or beat. And you got a lot of lettuce with the starter.
Coffee after dinner is definitely not recommended. Was super strong. Even after 3 cups of coffee creamer. My husband drinks black and tasted mine and even thought it was too strong. I then got cappuccino and it was just a kind of coffee ... so bad !!!!
White wine was vinegar. But didn't feel like complaining anymore and I left.

Nice castle but if you book.you will probably sleep in the stable

We had planned what we thought to be a lovely Christmas getaway at Kasteel Erenstein. Unfortunately this turned into a nightmare for us. The Luxury room was old and run down in desperate need of a paint job.
The room and bathroom was not cleaned properly. We had to ask the cleaning lady to clean inside door of the bathroom as something was splattered all over it. The bath towels were old, gray and thinning!
The fact that it was Christmas could not be felt via the decorations or the staff. Very cheap plastic decorations were used and the staff never even made an effort to wish the guests a Merry Christmas. The food was of poor standard, the breakfast was cold (inclusive coffee & tea).
The whole Christmas experience was gone.
I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Hotel is in urgent need of renovation. In urgent need of a coat of paint and repair of damage to walls.
Breakfast was OK with the exception of the coffee. I have rarely had such a bad coffee.
And again 2 separate beds. This is unfortunately the case in all their hotels.

Romantic castle hotel, embedded in a valley with beech forests with numerous former fish ponds. Perfect location for trips to the Euregio.
In the immediate vicinity of z. B. Gaia Zoo, Snowworld, climbing park, Mondo Verde and more.

Entourage is beautiful, but the portions were disappointing in relation to the price.
My wife and son even left the guinea fowl because it was not well done and tasted bad.

Nice location nice area but that is all said service is slow and there is not enough staff. Hotel room smelled like a wet dog and while you would have to pay 15 euros if you bring your pet for the cleaning fee, I wonder why

Nice hotel. very nice room, and location. Staffs are friendly.

We have eaten in a neatly converted restaurant set up in a side room. Food was cold rather than hot, ok in buffet form but you don't expect mice walking around here. Inexperienced staff who do not know what is available in terms of drinks. Beer was, for example, only Bavaria and 0.0. While we were first promised a tasty La Trappe. Unfortunately. Tomorrow morning breakfast ...... wait and see how this will be.

Cozy hotel and a good restaurant the next day we could not argue that it was full.

We went here again last week and had a wonderful night and breakfast.
Where those (sometimes very) negative reviews come from is a mystery to me. Well, if you start looking, you will always find something to complain about. But isn't that the case everywhere? For us there is certainly no reason to give a low rating! Room, bathroom and breakfast were in perfect order!

The receptionists were very friendly at both the evening check-in and the morning check-out. In the morning the lady and her colleague gave us various maps and an information booklet about hiking routes in the area. We have made good use of that.
After the walk we went for a cup of coffee in the castle opposite the hotel. There, too, we were very hospitably received by two employees, even before the normal opening time! We were given complete freedom to view the beautiful old building. The coffee is excellent. You are still a real guest here!

We will come back here again for sure.

Besides the very unfriendly hostess where really everything was too much to ask, it was a beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the service. The hostess was unable to answer questions properly and was downright blunt. Also thinking along in terms of solutions and empathy is something this lady in question has never learned .. a pity that she has given the stay a black edge. In addition, we enjoyed the hotel ourselves

The advantage here is that the location is nothing else. We have celebrated our wedding here and what a bad new management there. Apparently it is difficult to serve hot soup and drink. Everything was even fixed again a week in advance and it is still possible to forgive it. To top it off, they also try to scam you with the drink voucher. Fortunately we had a 360 camera that recorded everything and could prove that there was a difference of around 400 euros .... this is no longer accidentally wrong. This is a deliberate action ... what if there were no camera stood? Excuse and a reason how this could happen never got even the head office does nothing against it. This says a lot about Erenstein's company and hotel manager. So as a tip, don't let this organization scam you. Other reviews from our guests can also be read here.

Great hotel for an overnight stay. We had a very noisy room and could hear the local nightclub very well. Our upstairs neighbors were also audible. Staff very sea friendly!

Great that we could now eat out in times of corona. Well resolved operation.

Staff friendliness was a bit disappointing. Our dogs with a daughter of 2 months old. There was actually no room for that. Location is very nice and breakfast was super.

Greatly enjoyed here, the reviews I have read are far from the truth yes you do not sleep in the castle there I had a great meal with a lot of atmosphere and pleasant staff, sleeping in an old farm is 3 minutes walk with very spacious rooms and neat and clean well maintained.
Yes if I could have stayed longer I would have missed a swimming pool and sauna, and you know this in advance, also that the hotel is in another beautiful building.
This location is highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

Have been 3 days in the hotel / castle Erenstein. Enjoyed it. delicious eaten. Cozy ambiance. Friendly staff. Will definitely come back. Hopefully with better weather.

Excellent sercice in the castle restaurant and delicious food. The room is neat and we are happy with a bathtub!

Moderate breakfast. Too cheap toilet paper. Beds ok. Not really super clean. Restaurant a 7. Was better sooner.

When booking a hotel you have to take into account that what they advertise with (castle) is not where you stay. The hotel is a farm and in the castle a little further on is the restaurant. And it has potential to be fun, but it now feels mainly old and tired. The first room that was offered stank of cigarettes. At the reception I could immediately get another room. But the rooms are a bit sabby. There is also no possibility of making rare tea in the room. Breakfast was fine, staff often seems miserable. And knows little about what happens in the environment. Handy if you know that there is a wieller competition on the main road. And that guests may experience inconvenience. It is a somewhat dark hotel due to construction. But they don't really have a nice seat. With a little more light. The final statement was also incorrect. Were products that we had not used at all. In general it is not recommended to stay.

Regular hotel. Nothing special. Has seen better days.

The hotel is located in walls several hundred years old and has a very rustic interior in the lobby and lounge. Anyone who drives there with the navigation system may be led to the Kasteel restaurant diagonally opposite. The hotel driveway is a bit hidden, you can overlook it if you can't see the sign while driving.

The reception is friendly, multilingual. The rooms are rather spacious for this price range. Breakfast is good and adequate. The parking space for the car does not cost anything extra. There are rental bikes available, but I didn't use them.

Little corny, friendly people. Quite noisy in the morning. Bicycles or e-bikes can be rented on site

Location: Beautiful, good and on a quiet road next to Gaiazoo, which will not bother you!
Room: 65 nice at the front nice quiet room with bath and neat shower bed was good hard minus point
Breakfast: Good not extensive but some juice coffee tea milk just good breakfast
Staff: reception was good neat explanation and also at check out

It is suggested that the hotel is in a castle but that is incorrect. The hotel is located in an old farm o.i.d. The castle is a restaurant that is located about 100 meters further on the other side of the road. Furthermore, great spacious room. Nice receptionist.

Have a high tea outside on the terrace in the courtyard. 1 person but employed in the ministry on this Sunday. Which sometimes made waiting a bit long. Everything was tasty and the service was professional and very friendly.

Enjoyed today and yesterday in this hotel! On February 12, I asked my girlfriend to marry in front of the castle: she said yes!

Handled and congratulated by all the staff. The room was beautiful, spacious and clean. Location was perfect. Worth repeating!!

An action by appie heijn and reserved and paid could not cancel while storm with code was orange and we did not want to risk our lives for a dinner so money gone and no dinner but luckily no damage so we could never do anything again to do code orange my husband is a fire brigade man helping all people and then arriving soon and thanks

The actual hotel is old rundown building which is located half a kilometer from the "Kasteel". The "Kasteel" which is advertised as a hotel on the brochures sold, has no hotel rooms, but serves only as a restaurant.

Our room smelled of mold and was furnished with furniture from the 80's.

In addition, the hotel rooms are 100 meters from the main traffic area of the place, with corresponding noise and Abgassen.

No recommendation ! Better to search for hotels in the area!

We recently stayed at this hotel. I don't understand that this should be a four star hotel. First of all, it says on the hotel's website that there is a gym. We could not find it and inquired at the reception. There we were told that it is only 1 device that has not been tested for years and is therefore at your own risk. Once at the device it turns out that he is falling apart from misery. In addition, there is a very small sauna and there are few other facilities.

In the very dated room we found a number of wasps in the room on arrival. In addition, the beds were completely sagged and there was no mini bar. There is also no air conditioning in the room because it was quite warm, we had to open the windows for fresh air. However, this was not possible because several wasps immediately flew around in our room.

Finally, the breakfast was also very bad. Little choice and nothing special. When we saw on Sunday morning that the juice glasses were finished, we inquired with the staff. They were able to tell us after waiting 5 minutes that the dishwasher would be ready in 20 minutes and then new glasses were put down. Dramatic service ...

Neat spacious bathroom, low light in the room where there is still carpet. Reading lamps need to be better. Friendly reception.

No castle, but a nearby farm, a shame because that was not what we expected. The room was dated, broken table lamp. The bed had a sagging mattress with a deep hole and the breakfast the following morning did not meet the expectations that you may have if you paid 15 PP for it. It was the first and last time for us at this hotel.

Arrived at the hotel today.
It is best not to include the castle. And just go to the residence. Provided you spend the night in the castle, but my opinion is not about that, because I stay in the annex.
And with that I disconnect it from each other.
The bedrooms have their own names on the bedroom doors, which I like.
I also think the bathroom and bedroom are fine.

Bad hygiene hotel, downright filthy, rooms badly maintained, price quality out of proportion

Enjoyed a High tea with my husband. Was tasty and well cared for again. Still to report points for improvement and this is not the first time. We first had to make a reservation for this high tea and then you can expect that there will be enough types of tea available: after all, it is known with how many people you will be present. After 1 sachet of Earl Gray we asked if it could be refilled and it was indicated that it was finished. Then we received regular tea, English breakfast. Pity.

We also thought we would spend the night in a castle, but this was an old farm 100 meters away.
The rooms stink of a wet dog and there are also dogs in the hotel, 1 is already barking for more than an hour, hope it will get a sore throat. The rooms are also simple and old-fashioned with old stuff, fletcher may sometimes invest a little more money in his hotels because they are declining rapidly. Plus point in the good breakfast, also for us the next time prefer the falcon hotel. Final grade a 6, this because of the view and breakfast.

Stayed for 3 days and 2 nights as a guest at a wedding. In terms of location, it leaves nothing to be desired. The hotel rooms are a bit dated. Bathroom neat.

Sadly terrible service. Staff fall short in hospitality, insight and anticipation.

A pre-reviewed wedding party got less shine because of this. You do not wish that to any bridal couple.

- wrong arrangement of the tables at dinner
- serve cold soup and not at the same time (and in some cases the bread only afterwards)
- not enough staff to take care of the drink (had 1 wine in 3 hours of dining)
- put fries on the table while the buffet is opened fifteen minutes later.
- no staff to help move attributes from the party to the party room
- joint breakfast the next day: again not the correct arrangement of tables (having to place tables because nobody did anything)
- Housekeeping has not cleaned the hotel room or received clean towels, not even after a complaint at the reception.
Etc. Etc.

Because of the lesser reviews some worries but it was a great hotel. Certainly for that price. Everything neat and clean. Ebikes hired and given a route at the reception. Well worth it!

Very nice location. Dinner at the castle is definitely recommended! Great food in a beautiful location. Nicely furnished rooms and very friendly staff. A bit more difficult with a buggy and wheelchair. To my knowledge there is no elevator.

Great hotel, somewhat dated decor.
The location is beautiful. Beautiful setting and a beautiful castle. During our stay, we were not in "the castle" but in the hotel that is 300 meters from the castle.
Bathroom looked recently renewed and looked neat. Hotel room was somewhat dated. Hotel staff were polite and helpful.

The beef entrecote dish was fat and chewy is not what we are used to from a FLETCHER restaurant.
We regularly visit FLETCHER hotels and the food is always excellent.
This was not worth the price and a cup of coffee should make up for our disappointment.
