Not given lightly, but this is outstanding value. Friendly attentive service, all dishes on the tasting menu are well thought through, beautifully presented and taste fab, with a couple of truly stand out courses. Highly recommend.

Had a really good experience here. Food is excellent, lovely flavours and textures and beautifully presented. All the wait staff are knowledgeable about all the food, are attentive and patient. Plenty of wines to choose from, with very good recommendations. The atmosphere is relaxed, laid back and easy.

Finally, it's not overpriced. For what you get it's very reasonable. We had the 7 course taster and the 7 courses doesn't even include the 4 snacks at the beginning, which are all amazing! Will definitely go back.

Absolutely fantastic and one of the best meals I ve ever had. We were a group of 9 in the private room and both the food and service were outstanding. Highly recommended.

I have wanted to go back to Restaurant22 for a year now and finally managed. What a treat this was, great service, nice, cool, updated ambience and the food was out of this world. We used to frequent Alimentum's supper club in its prime, and loved it, finally, we found a replacement for a real celebration of the senses. A "must go".

Lovely petit restaurant offering a fabulous dining experience. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, polite and knowledgeable and the food was stunning with great pared wines throughout.

After reading reviews I booked via the website 2 weeks in advanve for a birthday meal. Both myself and my girlfriend are vegan which I stated when booking.

A week later I recieved no response, I emailed and they replied stating they recieved my booking request but could not do the time I asked for, they could only do an hour earlier. Would of been nice of them to get back to me and let me know that then. Anyway I confirmed the booking for an hour earlier. Last night we got a taxi to the restaurant, we were seated and I then asked for the vegan taster menu. I was then told they could not cater for vegans unless they were informed prior. I explained about my original booking on their website and that I stated we were both vegan, but was told I should of told them again when I had to contact them to confirm my booking because they clearly could not be bothered to confirm online bookings through their websites themselves.

Because they realised their mistake and didn't want their other guests to realise they messed up so badly they quickly asked us to leave stating they cannot cater for us but there is a nice restaurant across the road, which turned out to be a cafe!

No apology and did not even offer to try and make something we could eat. Shocking customer service especially for a birthday meal.

I love the food here, and the service is great. My partner and I both have dietary requirements and they explained what they adapt in each dish and described each course as it was brought out. It's quality and presentation over quantity but the richness of the dishes wont leave you hungry.

Very nice and seemingly good value - however the portion sizes (particularly the starters) let it down. Could work out of the staff were just too stretched or absent minded... still a solid choice if in the area.

Not impressed.
We went with high expectations to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We were shown to the upstairs room which was atmospheric and cosy.
However, we were very disappointed by the food. The menu was ambitious but the flavours just didn't seem to gel. I had tuna, with a concoction of other things, but it would have been much better on its own or with a simple horseradish sauce. My daughters and son in law made similar comments about their starters. The partridge was very average and tasted like chicken. The chicken dish was flavoursome but cold. We had to go downstairs to find a waiter to complain to. To their credit they replaced it, but unfortunately it meant a long gap and then we had to go downstairs again to find the waiter so we could order dessert.
The cheese board was the best thing on the menu - delicious.
This restaurant was not cheap. Maybe we picked an off night, but even if we did, none of the combinations seemed quite right. Sadly we wont be going again.

One of the best restaurants here. A monthly menu, so there's always something new, and a table for the evening so it is completely relaxed.

Had a really pleasant experience here on a date. The area was very cozy and well designed, with excellent service. The waiters kept constant tabs on us. We didn t go for the tasting menu, and designed our own courses instead. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary bread and amuse-bouche they had, even though it wasn t the tasting menu. We had a few dietary requirements as well, that they emailed me about two days before to check up on and were more than happy to make modifications to our courses to accommodate us, including a last-minute change. The food was impeccable, with exquisite layout and surprisingly filling - we had to skip desert. My girlfriend and I were very happy with the choice and would definitely think about coming again!

Restaurant 22 was quite simply what fine dining should be and what keeps you going back for more.

The courses are beautifully presented and the perfect portion size given you will taste your way through 7 of the tastiest dishes you have ever had.

The technique involved in all dishes is akin to Michelen star and whilst the chefs are working magic in the kitchen the service and the maitre de Alex ignites restaurant 22 with her warmth, knowledge and willingness to accommodate her guests needs.

The food was stunnning and fantastic value for money and the wines were the perfect match to the delicious dishes. I highly reccomend the wine flight also.

Mel our server was excellent and an asset to restaurant 22.

After speaking to the young couple who own it I can t believe what they have achieved at such a tender age. We will return very soon and thank you Restaurant 22 for making a special occasion even more special.

We absolutely love this restaurant, our favourite one in Cambridge! The staff are all nice and professional, the food is absolutely amazing and it has a great atmosphere. Last time we were celebrating something and we got a card from the staff and a little chocolate cake with congratulations! Brilliant :)

Went here for our seventh wedding anniversary. We had the five course tasting menu which was absolutely delicious. Highlights for me were the shallot brioche and truffle macaroni cheese. Service was warm and friendly with an explanation of each course. A delightful evening.

We came here for my recent birthday and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was incredibly cosy and inviting, and the wonderfully charming and welcoming staff added so much to that. There was a birthday card waiting on the table, signed by the staff, such a lovely touch! The food was very special: well conceived, nuanced, interesting flavours and beautifully presented. Some friends were traveling up from London for the occasion and got delayed, Alex and co. could not have been more accommodating. We will definitely be back, probably very soon!

The wine selection was beautiful. The presentation of all foods fantastic. The flavors melded together well. I had the lamb. The flavors were wonderful but the lamb was slightly overcooked. The veggie side was bright and flavorful.

I'm a bit torn about writing this review. On one hand the staff is excellent and service was stellar, the food and presentation top notch.

On the other hand our dining experience was a bit ruined by a group of three loud, inebriated lads at the table opposite us. They were slurring and shouting very loudly and that really killed the atmosphere.

I'm pretty sure that on another occasion it would be 5/5, but for this time I can't rate the experience more than 3/5.

One of the best restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of going to. Food was out of this world. The tasting menu was so delicious i wish i had found this place sooner. With a weekend evening resevation waiting time of a few months it is no wonder this resturant is Cambridge's hottest little spot! I would definitely recommend and would so go back in a heartbeart!

Excellent food, excellent service. A lunch is affordable luxury. I would only recommend the owners to change some items of crockery to the more stylish ones so that they aesthetically match the beauty of the place (it's just a bit odd that you have exquisite black plates and very mediocre sugar-bowls).

Was lucky enough to enjoy the tasting menu with my family for lunch on Saturday and I couldn't recommend it more. Every course was superb, the wine pairings were immaculate and unconventional which we loved. The service was also fantastic, and it's great to speak with the owner and learn about their family run business, powering through even during tough times with Covid. Definitely a MUST visit if you can get a table, we will be returning for sure!

Food was ok but the male waiter who appeared to own the resteraunt was an absolute disgrace. Completely ignored 3 or 4 tables including ours. Laughed when someone on another table asked for beer and not wine. Made all of them/us feel unwelcome and then spent the entire evening doting on two other tables with little interest in anything else.

Amazing taster menu and much more filling than I'd expected. Try everything, even if you don't normally like some of the constituents, as we were pleasantly surprised with the flavours! The restaurant is comfortably air conditioned without being cold and the service was friendly and well informed. Strongly recommend!

Love love love this place. Attentive staff who are happy to accommodate your requests. It's a small restaurant managed very well. The food is amazing. It's a little off the beaten track, however, worth the effort. Give it a try.

The atmosphere was lovely, the food was unique, fresh, tasty and when all this is considered, reasonably priced. I have never tasted food like this before having never gone for "fine dining" and it was truly worth the bill for a special occasion. The staff were all amazing, knowledgeable and attentive. It was the perfect evening, my only point for improvement would be that I would have liked the music to be a little more prominent as It was barely audible but this is just my preference.

The facilities were also spotless.

Pictured was a delicious venison in a slow gin sauce with a kind of mushroom and buckwheat risotto like side, a Venison sausage and a couple of divine root vegetables not dissimilar from Parsnip.

I have just celebrated my 40th birthday here with 21 of my friends, Alex and her team could not have done more to make us feel so at home. The food and house wines were delicious and the service was second to none - great staff, attentive but not over the top, relaxed and the right balance between formal and informal - perfect - I highly recommend and cant wait to go back - bravo.

Best place in Cambridge for fine dining without pretension (well, little) and at prices that don't make you cry. Staff are very helpful and friendly, and the food is excellent. I Ioved the egg timer with the cafetiere, and they should try more of this quirky eye for over-the-top detail.

Best fine restaurant in Cambridge! I took my friends from abroad there for a 5 course tasting menu, and everyone said that was their best meal in the whole trip!

I took Mrs P here for our wedding anniversary and we had the tasting menu. It was wonderful! All the dishes were interesting, had some wonderful ingredients, and were expertly cooked and presented. The timings between the courses were spot on and the service was efficient and professional.

We had such a great time. Food was delicious and we got to taste unknown flavours which was super interesting. The staff is so lovely and the sommelier will help you to choose your wine. I love that the interiors are not too posh and intimidating. It's a high end restaurant but it makes you feel comfortable. Great value for money. Highly recommend it.

I had a really lovely evening with 9 friends at Restaurant 22 - the service was impeccable and the food was amazing. It was by far the best dining experience that I have had. We all had the tasting menu, and some of us had the wine pairing. The tasting menu was very well priced and the flavours were sublime, and the wines were all very well matched. The staff were very knowledgable, and the attention to detail was second to none. We will definitely be back and will be recommending the restaurant to everyone we know!

Restaurant 22 is fine dining restaurant at lower than michelin star prices. I've eaten here twice under the new owners / chef and each time has been a very tasty experience indeed. The menu, regularly updated provides a good mix of tasting menu options (with matching flights if desired) and ala carte. Every course I've had here has been delicious, even something as "simple" as the bread and butter has been taken to a heavenly place. I'll gladly keep returning to see where they go from season to season. As far as the quality to price ratio goes, this tops another certain local highly acclaimed restaurant by some way.

Tried the seven course tasting menu and the food and service were amazing.

We had the 7 course taster menu. the menu was spot on with some great testing and complimentary dishes. best dish of the day for me was the pre desert, with the ginger chrystals, cinnamon and mulled cider, it was a burst of flavours in your mouth from start to finish (fantastic) The only minor points where, the fish dish (Scottish langustine) I didn't think was a fish dish as the fish was smaller than the pork belly. The Brioche with whipped Chicken fat was slightly dry. Guinness bread was was light and had a great malt taste to it. The service of the staff was fantastic and they where all knowledgeable about every dish. Yes where never without water, wine or attention when required and never over bearing. The attention to detail in the whole experience is something this restaurant is been strides of ahead of others that we have eaten at. Thank you to all the staff and the chef for a fantastic experience.

My husband booked a dine dining experience for our anniversary, by far the best restaurant service we have ever experienced! Book for a fine dining experience with an exceptional and attentive service. The food is unbelievable, if you appreciate good food then book with these guys, be ready to wait; they're that popular and worth it! We'll be back again!

We had the five course taster menu and it was excellent. We wondered what could possibly beat the beef course and then came the desert... The peanut parfait was by far the single best desert I have had in my 31 years! The staff were lovely and attentive, a must visit when in Cambridge.
