I stayed in Cashin for two months in the summer of 2014. There were mice and bugs (didn't see any roaches, though). The water not only tastes bad, but is actually yellowish. There is very little public space (a kitchen and one lounge), so you have to go out of your way to talk to anyone not living in your suite. I do like the rooms, though. They are pre-equipped with a built-in desk lamp, and the windows open outward so rain never gets in.
UMass did not help at all with housing. I had to withdraw my senior year and not finish because all the freshmen took the housing and the off-campus housing department was basically useless. There was nothing affordable and kids were probably buying out doubles as singles, which made the housing even more scarce because the parents who pamper there kids buy out doubles for their kids so that they can have their own space. If I could have rated it with zero stars I would have because housing has ruined my college career and I have no chance of finishing my degree now. Thanks Umass.
