We have been customers of Republic Service for years. Since COVID they have decreased the number of days they pick up your trash and still continue to charge the same amount. In addition, we have requested 2 large load pick ups. 1 was picked up as requested, the second load was supposed to be picked up on Monday 6/22. We loaded all items in front of the drive, and guess what no pickup. We have called them numerous times and still no pickup. We were told Monday, then Thursday, possibility Friday. We were assured it would be picked up today 6/29, and still the items remain in front of our house waiting for pick up. This is extremely unprofessional and terrible customer service. We are definitely not happy with the service as of late.

Horrible customer service and unreliable. I wish I could give them NO stars. I've read many of the other reviews and many are similar horror stories. AAA was great and then when Republic took over, it went downhilll. They would not pick up trash on the day they were supposed to. When holidays were involved, they never adhered to the holiday schedule. We'd call and they'd promise to come out and didn't until the next scheduled pickup. I moved out of my house in July of last year and canceled my service. Each month thereafter I'd continue to receive a bill and would call them. After approximately six months and six calls, I get yet another bill for a bin removal fee, which was turned over to their collection agency. Funny how they never mentioned the bin removal fee previously. On March 7 I called and Brianna in their office agreed to waive the bin removal fee given all the trouble I had to cancel my service and stop the unnecessary and incorrect billing. Guess what? On March 21 I got another bill for the bin removal fee. The gal who answered could not help; told me it was turned over to collections. We went round and round and I asked to speak with a supervisor. She said she'd have someone call me. The next day a supervisor did call me back and it took about ten minutes for her to answer my question: Will you or will you not waive this fee as I have no more time to waste on this. She said no. I hung up and will pay the bin removal fee under protest and to make them go away forever. Think twice before you use this company in my opinion.

Was a customer for less than a month. They picked up trash 3 times and recyclables 2 times - only after multiple calls for missed pick ups. Hmmm - but there are 4 weeks in a month. This company is beyond pathetic - 11 days after cancellation they even missed the pickup to retrieve their own cans. Wow - what service! On day 8 now waiting on a call from a manager who clearly doesn't care! Save your money - stay away from this company. Really wish NO stars was an option.

This company is the worst. Trash piling up as they miss pickups every week. Cancelling the service today but it is highly unlikely they would send a refund for services they didn't perform. One star is being generous.Update, I have been trying to close out my invoice and I keep sending them money and then they hit me with more fees. They need to be reported to the State Corporation Commission.

This company is horrible! Charges customers for a whole month of service regardless if the customer moves at the beginning of the month. Charges $25 to pick up your trash containers after charging a monthly fee already for usage. Highly recommend looking at other companies that would provide better service. They are running a racket.

I bought a new house and have called numerous times to get a trash can delivered and have never received one. Was told by one of your staff that the order was cancelled but they did not know why. A supervisor was supposed to call but that never happened. It is over a month and I still have no bin for my trash.

My yard waste was nor picked up yesterday. I placed the yard waste in the trash and recycling bins that I have done for the last dozen years and the last 3 years with Republic Services. Not only was my yard waste not picked up but many Republic customers on a cross street in my neighborhood, I called Republic Services this morning and did not expect a prompt response based on the Google reviews. The first person I talked to was not helpful but the next person up the complaint chain, Brenda, contacted the local Republic Service location and 2 hours later my trash was picked up. So I am very happy with their prompt response. Brenda called me back after the trash was picked up and asked me if I was satisfied. Republic Services should congratulate Brenda with saving a customer for going to the main Trash pickup competitor in Fairfax County

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! This company deserves zero stars. There are way too many missed pickups. Our recycling hasn't been picked up in 2 weeks. I have called so many times and have been told that they will come and get it the next day. When it isn't picked up the next day they tell me (only after I call) the truck was full and they will get it tomorrow. Clearly all I am paying for is missed pickups.

This is the most unprofessional group that I have had the displeasure of dealing with in roughly 30 years. Do not waste your time, money, or valuable resources dealing with this company. Please note: I am an actual disgruntled customer with a need to vent. I see why their trash collection is in such disarray; their customer service is detestable. Every issue presented to this group fell on deaf ears. They don't care about you or your business, this is evident in their practices. I do not understand how a corporation like this is still in business. I mean, who is running this clown show? All in all, Republic/AAA deserves "no" stars. Now, it is time to reach out to their corporate partners and let my dissatisfaction be known. What else is a man to do? I feel as if no one can help, much less fix, the deeply rooted and pervasive issues that I have encountered while being "serviced" by Republic/AAA. The Republic "supervisors", Mr. Warner and Mrs. Elias showed zero interest in my problem so just disregard them when your phone call gets transferred. Here is the kicker. Every Tuesday I go out extra early and fix up the trash area. By the time the Republic associates are done, it looks like a hurricane swept by and left that area in a worse state than before; it is truly disheartening. This sucks and your company sucks even more. Republic, it is ironic that you run a trash company; you are trash. There would be nothing more fitting than to see the dissolution of Republic/AAA. If I could give no stars I would, these people have no consideration for the people they are serving. They use to pick up our trash at 9:00 am or after, now they have changed that and pick up at 5:50 - 6:10 am which is absurd. Trying to speak to them to get this changed is useless because they will do nothing to assist you or accommodate you in any way. I WOULD NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!!!!!!!! I will do what I can to get them fired and replaced with a company that cares about their customers.

Trash not collected up to this hour consistently for the past few weeks. This also happened ocasionaly before the covid19 pandemic. Calls to their attention produce no acceptable results. Their promises always broken and cannot provide a reasonable explanation. Their billing statements always come on time efficiently and consistently and we always pay responsibly. Time to move on.

Began service with AAA-Republic 20 years ago. Over that time most of my neighbors switched to other service companies, probably because AAA-Republic increased the rates almost every billing. Now I have finally reached my breaking point - 3 pickups in 4 weeks (paid for 2 pickups every week). Really sad when a good business can be ruined by incompetent management. They deserve zero stars.

These guys are horrible! They charge a reconditioning fee for the trash cans when you cancel service. These trash cans are in perfect shape except for the dings their people caused while trowing the cans around during pickup. They told me they'd pick up their cans within 3 weeks, it's been a month and the service rep said to keep waiting. I cancelled service and I don't want your junk at my house anymore!

The experience has not been great with this company. They are consistently inconsistent. We might have our trash collected once per week (should be twice) and sometimes they don't pick up the recycling at all for the week. I was told that a manger would contact me on 3 separate occassions and that was 3 months ago now. Still no call. The pickups are never on time but the bills come rolling in on time faithfully. And also, they recently increased their fees but the performance hasn't improved.

Basically their employee took personal property and there is nothing they can do? Not very good customer relations if you ask me!

Uh the worst! It took 3 weeks to get my trash cans. Even though their website says you can schedule pick up outside of your normal pick up days that apparently is a lie. I just moved and I am swimming in trash and boxes and haven't had service since we moved in. I ended up cancelling over the phone after being told I cant have pick up outside of pick up days in direct contradiction to what their website said. Worst company Ive ever had the misfortune to deal with.

Constantly leaving trash in my can. When they come they hand pick through the bags in the can they want to take and put them in a wheelie-can, instead of dumping the can itself. They won't collect your trash unless it's bagged up neatly inside of the can. When they rifle through the can they drop trash around and don't pick it up, leaving dangerous items in the lawn where kids play. Strongly recommend avoiding them.

It sucks that the only two disposal services that serve my area, are both bad. They miss trash pickup every other week. Customer service is nice and all but make false promises. I get my trash picked up on Thursdays (if they come get it that is) If they don't show up, you call and they tell you it will be picked up by the end of the day if not the next day. Yet they still show up to pickup 4 days after. Crazy how they are still in business. I guess since it's trash nobody really cares, but they still make sure they bill you tho smh

I tried for a month, 3 pick-ups a week, trash yard waste and recycle. They never once came on the scheduled day. They came twice after I called, complained and pleaded for them to get the trash. I spoke to supervisors and the station manager. They all said the same things, very sorry, we will raise it to another level, etc. These guys are not very good at picking up trash. They never got my neighbor either, for a month, on the scheduled day.

Switched from twice a week to once a week and discounted $6 a month from the total bill. Half the work, but only $6 per month less. What s worse is they haven t been here SINCE the switch. 2 weeks now, and customer service says they don t know when they ll be able to catch up. So with a full trash can and 4 backs at the curb, they won t get another penny. Switching services today. Seems that according to these reviews they routinely miss pick ups which is interesting, because that s literally their only job. Great business model guys, rake it in while you can because you re going to start hemorrhaging customers at this rate.

Missed my pick up 3 weeks in a row. Animals have gotten into each time. The soonest they can come out is 4 day is later? Reduced service from twice a week to once a week.

Adding onto this. They have now missed my missed pick up twice. But they gave me a credit of 5$. Beware.

This rating is specifically for Republic Services ...

This rating is specifically for Republic Services not picking up bags of leaves because xmas was on Wed.
Call #1: Mon, Dec 30th, was told they'd pick up Tue.
Call #2: Thu, Jan 2, was told they'd pick up in the afternoon.
Call #3: Fri, Jan 3, was told they'd send a note to dispatch to pick up Fri.
Call #4: Sat, Jan 4, was told pick up is scheduled for Mon Jan 6.
Today is Jan 4 and it's nearly 10 days and counting.
Several other neighbors on my street has same issue.
Short & simple: I signed a contract for services and I keep my side by paying the fees but Republic is not honoring their side of the contract.
And this is not the first time they have not picked up trash on scheduled days. Summer of 2019 was full of missed pickups.

Please, if you run any business that requires trash collection, do not use Republic or AAA or whatever they need to change their name to so they can keep gouging clients and providing horrendous customer service. Contracts that automatically renew are something that all businesses need to be aware of but please be aware that once in a contract with Republic, you can expect over 100% increases annually in the original amount. We have 3 businesses that share service and have 3 separate contracts that allows Republic to gouge all 3 of us. PLEASE do not use this organization, they are truly the worst.

Horrible !!!! extremely expensive for twice a week pickup and the difference is only 5 dollars if you opt for a once a week pickup. Most of the time the drivers are ok but occasionally I'll see angry uppity ones that routinely don't pick up all the trash. I've had to call many times about missed pickups. Just absolutely horrible. I would do something different if I could.

Contrary to the featured reviews, my experience with Republic Services has been excellent. The pickups have been reliable. The people doing the pickups are helpful and friendly. And customer services was very helpful when I asked them to match a lower price offered by a competitor in my neighborhood.

Very possibly the worst company I've ever dealt with in any industry. Missed pickups 5 weeks in a row, I called to schedule missed pickups, they say "I'm so sorry, they're coming out today for sure". Guess what, they missed all of those as well!!! 4 times I've spoken with supervisors that promised to confirm with the local team and call me back in a couple hours. I received 0 calls back. I feel bad for the next company that's going to have to pick up a month and a half of recycling after I fire Republic. 1 star is too generous.

This review is meant to highlight the differences between the two companies that serve my neighborhood. I fired American Disposal Services because of the disconnect between Customer Support and field crews, their unwillingness to rectify issues such as missed pickups and mixing trash with recycling, and of course their lack of management and oversight. Republic has missed some recycling pickups, but what sets them apart is that they OWN UP TO IT. What made me sit down and write this was a missed recycling pickup yesterday. Without any hold time, I spoke with a customer service person who told me to leave the recycling out and it would be picked up the next day. So today, an employee in a Republic pickup truck showed up, dumped my full recycling bin into a trash bag, and loaded it onto her truck. That s customer service, and that s the difference between a bad company and a good company. They have done this three times, and those 3 missed pickups are the only reason I couldn t in good conscience write a 5-star review. But I would urge people to consider how a company in this type of business handles their own mistakes (rather than their pickup track record) when writing reviews.

Our trash is regularly not picked up, even when the neighbors is. I have called many times and put in tickets online with frustrations. When the trash is actually picked up, the can is often left 3-5 feet from the curb in the middle of the road. Other times- about every other week- I get a call saying that our location was not serviced and it will be picked up the next day. Today I called due to another non pick up and was told that the system said I was on a bi-weekly schedule (news to me) and then was transferred to another person who assured me that there is not even an options a "bi weekly schedule". The second person also told me that my area is "running at a delay" and it must be common in this area because I'm not the first person who has had the same complaint. It is ridiculous that a company is able to get away with such terrible service over and over again.

their new trucks that have hydraulic arms leave gobs of nasty blue grease on the bottoms of the receptacles. If you see that grease staining your garage floors it is coming from their trucks. It is not easy to clean up.

Its a tough choice AAA or American, both one-star awful companies. I now have American disposal and they have not made a Tuesday pick up in 5 months, but had the temerity to raise their rates. They don't even answer email inquires anymore. IF a new company came in to Fairfax County these two companies would be out of biz in year.

We have not had our trash picked up for now 3 weeks not including 2 missed pick ups that never showed up.

Every week I watch the trash truck drive right by our house on our RING camera. For being the most expensive trash company in our area, they are also the worst I m guessing. Our neighbors trash also hasn t been picked up in 2 weeks.

If I could give them no stars, I would. Horrible service provider, I hope they go under in this area.

We ve had to go to the dump to get rid of trash because after a missed, missed pick up, they won t come back to our residence to pick it up.

Canceled their service. Hope they tank. Go with literally any other trash company and do it yourself before you give this trash business your money.

When it comes to handling your waste needs, we know how important dependable pickup and disposal are to you. is a big lie. They reduced our service to once a week and reduced the bill by $6.00 a month. What we got was pickup once every two week. When terminating Republic, they want $20.00 for the container pickup, which they did not do on their scheduled date. Lorton dump took the containers for $13.00. American Trash removal is $11.00 cheaper a month (even with the $6.00 from Republic) with twice a week reliable service. I'd give Republic zero stars, but I had to give one star to post this.

Stay away from this company at all costs! You re better off paying more money to another company for actual service! Every previous bad review here is absolutely accurate! They only pick up whenever and whatever they want, leave the rest. Don t waste your time calling to complain, they will try to give you the corporate number, which is a dead end. If you see an apology response posted here, it s a cut and paste from a bot overseas. You re better off taking your trash to the landfill on your own! Terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE business!

Compared to McLean Trash, this company is gold. They matched our old trash company's price, have never once missed a pickup, and you can do anything online- McLean wrote our statements in PENCIL, had zero online presence, ignored our phone calls & never returned them or flat out hung up on us....to name a few flaws. Republic Services has been good to us from our very first phone call, I'm glad we found them.

We have moved, tried to cancel, they keep billing us despite the fact that we have called multiple times and they are not picking up our trash. We have made about six calls and gotten assurances that the bills would stop but they keep coming. On the latest call they claim we signed a contract and owe them money. Yet they have not picked up our trash once in four months. This company is completely unreasonable and does not care at all about their customers. The only way they can get people to use their 'service' is to trap them. Unbelievable.

Absolutely abominable customer service. Among other issues, the company is required by Fairfax County to separately collect yard waste from March through December with two additional collections after Christmas for Christmas trees only.

Republic failed to collect yard debris this week. We contacted them several times, and they neither responded nor collected the yard waste.

They have increased the service charges by more than 25% in the past year including a special charge for yard waste -- waste that was never collected.

No one from Republic responded to our complaints and no one came to collect the yard debris.

We will be canceling our service and switching to a company that wants our business and will properly and timely collect our trash.

We represent a HOA of 100 single-family homes, so Republic will be losing 100 accounts.

Do not use this company if you want regular trash and recycling pick up. I only get once a week service. Today they didn't pick up my recycling (not the first time this has happened). I was told this was not my day for pick. Rather strange since this is the day it has been picked up before and I received a letter telling me this is when it would be picked up. Customer service is very poor. Not the first time I have called them and they always imply I am the one who is wrong.

However, more often than not, if a piece of trash is pickup and they drop it, like I witnessed today, they leave it on the ground and continue on their merry way. When you call to find out why, "oh we can't give you that information". Triple AAA was far better. I hope our Community Association cancels the contract.

They are absolutely terrible, first of all the workers destroy the trash cans throwing them from very far away and when you talk to them they don't pay attention or care, also they decided to cut 1 day of service and the pick up of recycling and cuttings are all in different days so in other words every day of the week there is something in front of your front door.... it destroys the site of the entire neighborhood...on top of that customer service is not train to be in that position...also they are charging me an extra $25 to pick up their own trash can.. I am glad we changed services..

Not sure if it matters to write a review on this company as the current reviews of them are so true and cant get any worse than what they are getting! Went from twice a week service to once a week service. They said we will give you an extra bin for only $4 a month so that should help accommodate the lost day. You would expect going from twice a week to once a week we would see some savings on our bill but nope. So here we are first week of once a week service and nothing. No pick up and no call. We call in to make sure they will pick up and am told we are behind and no ETA when well get there. Two bins overflowing on the street of trash and these guys cant even give you an ETA when they will pick up if they pick up. Horrible!!! Stay away!

Terrible customer service, we stopped using them because of their lack of cleanliness, they damaged our mailbox ($350 mailbox) 2 times never paid for it, they continuously spilled trash throughout our neighborhood & missed pickups. We canceled their contract for these good reasons. In December. And as of today they still have not picked up their dumpsters or trash cans. I called and the only thing the girl could say on the phone was will pick it up by the end of the month. And to just leave it on the curb now unfortunately we don't just leave trash cans on the curb for a week or 10 days from what I was told from other people. So my recommendation is to not use these people find a way to you someone else.

I ve had to drag the couch and chair in and out of my garage twice.I will probably try one more time, and ask to talk to a manager, if they even have one. Frequently missed trash pickups, sometimes for consecutive weeks... They have a "missed pickup" notification option on their website, but apparently it's there for customers to vent their frustration and nothing more. Sometimes the trash will stay out in front of our house for a week or more. The only thing they're consistent about is their billing... worst trash company ever. They consistently messed up my account, double or triple charged me, gave inaccurate information regarding a dumpster rental, and after spending hours on the phone trying to correct all this I had one customer service rep who was so rude I was shocked.
Another rep had told me that i could request a recycle bin pick up and clean out for $150. When I called back to ask for this the new rep I got (Darryl) sarcastically ask me "oh, you think you know more about my job than I do?" and claimed there was no such service. Wow, I guess I do know more about your job than you do.

Absolutely horrid experience. Consistently miss trash, recycling, yard waste pick ups. I spent an hour every pick up day with their customer service to address issues. Management (if you get that far up) is only for show, they make promises which will NEVER, (No exaggeration) be kept. This company is basically fraud and I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau. I hope no one ever deals with this company as they cheat their customers and always fall short of their end of the contracts.

We ordered a 2nd recyling bin. They delivered the wrong bin (trash can) and didn't pick it up on recycle day. I called to complain and they sent someone to pick it up. I asked them if they had delivered me the wrong can and suggested maybe they should switch it out - and they said no, and that moving forward it should be fine. They did not pick up the can for the rest of the month either. So when I called customer service again to figure it out, they saw that the wrong can WAS delivered. I asked for a refund for one month's services on the one recycling bin (just a few bucks) and the customer service rep got a little rude with me and argued with me. I'm thinking of switching to the other company now.

This company is the worst. I had sign up because the previous owner of the house used this company. I was not informed when I first called it would cost 30 dollar for delivery/pickup of trashcans. I have never setup trash services before so that information would have been nice to know from the start. All the customer service reps I talk to were horrible. I am so glad I have another option for my trash services.

Update: I have had to call this company so far 2 more times for the same issues. I received a bill in the mail after I had canceled that the next months bill was due early July. So I immediately called them to make sure everything was done. The rep apologized and informed me the cancellation has been process. about a week later my credit card gets charged for the quarterly amount. I had to call them back again to get a refund. I still haven't received my refund for my first month's payment. Stay away from this company. If you have no other options I feel sorry for you.

Somebody in our cluster left a lot of old furniture that I thought would never get removed. The routine trash pickup got all it the next day and the crew even cleaned up after the pickup. They provide great service even in these tough times.

Terrible service lately. Missed pick-ups for trash, recycling and yard waste. When I called customer service they are very friendly and tell you the pickup will be done the next day. They never show up. The customer service reps have said there is no documentation for why the pickups are being missed. I requested that the manager call to escalate the problem.

Where is the 0 start option?!? Just horrible, I ve been with this company for almost 8 years and they just got worse and worse! Prices keep increasing and service keeps DECREASING! Wish there were more options out there but my last straw is that they can t pick up a Christmas three!! Lost a customer today!

#actualtrashcompany Republic Services continually jacked up their prices year over year. After trying to cancel membership they told me I was said and done in November with no further charges. Then proceeded to get bills in December, which i paid thinking it was missed before. After assuring me I was done then, received another bill in January. This game, I do not play. After a 10 minute call of arguing and negotiation the additional cost was waved. Had to bust out my bank statements and demand they refer to the notes of my account. A company that cannot keep track of their billing, constantly raises prices, and or has incompetency riddled in their operating staff is not going to be able to keep their customers. I now take my trash to the fire station for free.99 every week.

After reading these reviews I'm glad to see I wasn't the only customer being neglected. I can't comprehend how this company is still afloat. I have not had my trash picked up in 3 months. I put in missed pick up requests weekly. Customer service representatives tell me I will be contacted by management and not ONCE has that happened. It is astonishing they continue to charge my account when my trash has not been collected in months. It's a shame because I've had this trash company for years and never had any problems. Just in the past few months they have completely failed me as their customer. I'm not sure who is responsible for this but something needs to change! For anyone looking for a trash service... I'd steer clear!

didn't pick up yard waste due to pandemic said they would only do 1 pickup a week instead of 2. said that rate would be lowered, never indicated when yard waste removal would start, left 2 bags out today only took 1. have seen no reduction in price. usually pick up trash early on Thursday morning so if it's not out the night before you have to wait another week.

Rude unhelpful and incompetent. First I spent hours trying to transfer my service when I moved. Part of this process involved them canceling my collection for a time because they thought I hadn t paid my bill although I had paid the bill right on time and it was due to their error that they had not recorded it despite my repeated phone calls to inform them of the address change.
Then they seem to come up with every excuse they can imagine to not collect yard waste. I live in a wooded area so I probably have a bit more than average and it s constantly some reason why they can t collect it. Today the customer service agent actually hung up on me while having a debate about why twigs from the recent windstorm we re not collected. Unbelievable!!

Republic Services / AAA is TERRIBLE!!!! Service is unreliable and spotty (Yard debris) has not been collected in 2 WEEKS when I have reported it daily! Management doesn t call back, rescheduled pick ups do not happen and lies are constantly told. They SUCK! Find someone else!

I have 2resident locations with a trash and recycling pick up on Tuesday! at one of my locations they pick up my trash bin or my recycling at my other location will pick up my recycling and not tracks keep in mind these residents houses are two houses apart from each other I have called since Tuesday July 27 I have called Wednesday Thursday Friday and all they tell me is that they re going to send someone out here and figure out what s going on.... today is Monday August 3 and I ve called and all they want to keep telling me is that they re going to get a supervisor on it and check out whether not picking up my love trash in my recycling that both my location I ll be on hold for a good 45 minutes before for then to tell me they gonna get to it

I signed up for residential trash and recycling services on February, I received the containers and since then I didn't have them dumped. I called them multiple times a week for 4 weeks now and they reschedule it for missed pick up and nothing happened. This is going on now for 4 weeks and never got the trash and recycling picked up. I'm very frustrated and disappointed with them, I don't know how a company is allowed to do business like this in Loudoun county, Virginia.
