My husband was in icu for 74 days. Nurses did an awesome job taking care of him. I was at the hospital everyday. He is alive and getting better every day. Life is good.
Nice parking lot. Security is very helpful too. They are always driving around.

I worked at Renown as a nurse for 18 years but had to move out of state due to personal circumstances. I also gave birth to two babies there, and had numerous ER visits. As an insider, world traveler, and a consumer, I want the World to know that Renown has some of the best skilled nurses, doctors and ancillary staff in the industry, supported by top technology. I ve witnessed, on several occasions, lame doctors and nurses being let go. This is the hospital that has zero tolerance for staff incompetence, so if you want to stay alive and do well after your episode, you go to Renown, listen carefully to their instructions, and take care of yourself. I can only dream of getting this level of competent care anywhere else, and would love to bring these experts along.
And just for the record, if you are a diabetic and smoke, don t follow the diet and insulin regimen, and eat junk, your toe will fall off regardless if you are at Renown, Kaiser, or John Hopkins. It s time to start taking responsibility for yourself!

I've been at Renown in the ICU for two weeks. Quick advice---don't go there and pick a Doctor that works in another hospital.

Watch out for the Billing Dept. They offer deals with reduction of your bill, then bait you into compliance, until the switch up. I have no insurance coverage outside of Los Angeles, so I gave that info and they offered me a $700 reduction on my emergency bill. They then added it back in after some idiot at my insurance paid $24 toward my $2300 bill to RENOWN. I spent HOURS today trying to get them to see reason of the cruelty of that. I am paying the full bill, without reduction. No insurance. Verified by L.A. Care. Still RENOWN cruelly refuses to see that I am uninsured outside of Los Angeles County for emergency services.

I use to be a runner & bicycle racer. I take my health seriously. I made an appointment for my Annual Wellness Visit in August for an October. Two weeks before the October appointment it was canceled. The reason given was "the doctor will be out of the office". They gave me another appointment, THREE & a HALF MONTHS away, in January2019. I got a voice mail the morning of my visit that the doctor was sick, appointment canceled. I can understand the doctor being sick. What I can NOT understand is having to wait another SIX WEEKS for another appointment. My ANNUAL Wellness Visit is turning into my BI-ANNUAL Wellness Visit. My health & wellness do NOT matter to Renown. If you want great medical care go to the Carson-Tahoe Healthcare.

Worst experience EVER. My wife has occasional flare ups in her gut that makes her nauseous. The first time we experienced this 2 years ago northern Nevada medical center thought it was necessary to take her gall bladder out. So we did. Ever since then we come to the ER when her nausea's too bad to handle at home. Today's staff here lacks any compassion whatsoever. We've been here since 7 and they're ready to send us on our way and still haven't seen the ER doc. I'm truly disappointed with our experience today and I will never come back here. I hate that this one experience will change my view of renown. Their slogan is they'll never quit... Or something to that effect, well I don't find that to be true.. At all. If I could get my insurance company to not pay the bill for substandard service I would. There are two other choices out there... For now. Do yourselves a favor a go there.

This place is purgatory. It took us more than four hours just to get out of the ER and into the back area where we had to wait even longer just to see a doctor for an assessment that only required a few minutes. The level of incompetence and disorganization is unprecedented. I have never seen a hospital with a worse run ER infrastructure. This place is an utter disgrace.

This by far the worst emergency hospital I've been sent to. We arrived at 4pm is 9:23 pm and still in the waiting room. I'm leaving to st Mary's hospital hopefully I have better luck over there. I fell really bad for the other people that were in the waiting room with me.

Their pediatric ER was a better experience than most I've had for late night ER visits with sick kids. Not a bad wait. Friendly staff. Checkin is really easy after the first time. The nurses and doctors were super nice - even though I opt for self pay over insurance - which can be a problem at some ERs. Got billed separately - twice - for a physicians fee, but the billing office was great at helping me get all the paperwork I needed for my AFLAC claim.

I flew in from Oregon when told my lifelong friend was in an induced coma from DKA and a serious fungal infection in her sinuses. For the first two days and nights I literally lived in her ICU room, crashing out on a sofa behind dozens of IVs, monitors, and machines keeping her alive*. I quickly became very familiar with the staff, shifts, doctors, and routines of the hospital. Every nurse and tech, without fail, asked if they could get anything for me; I was brought linen for my "nest" the first night - and this demeanor continued to be their routine throughout my two week stay with my friend's sister who had also flown in. They were constantly in my friend's room, day and night, checking on her. The doctors were all very patient in explaining and updating us and answered all questions without seeming rushed.
*Renown has an on-site, full-service hotel with very reasonable rates. The room (kitchenette) was spacious, modern and the staff just great. It saved us from having to stay off-site and shuttle back and forth to the hospital.
As for the hospital itself - it was spotless and gleaming everyplace we went (in two weeks, I threw the map away). I was especially impressed with the sweeping open lounge areas, cell-phone charging station (free), Brita water stations (free) and a harpist who will never know how she calmed our souls one stressful morning.
There will always be some aggravations with waiting time in ERs and occasional stressed staff in any hospital but I will be using my experience at Renown as a baseline for the hospital standards of care, cleanliness and compassion. It turned a nightmare for me into a calming, confident experience and I left, knowing my friend remains in excellent care.
