Stayed here prior to having surgery at the VA. LOVED the location as it is perfectly centered close to Rice Village, the VA, Lakewood Church and the Galleria. Hotel was clean, neat and offered free breakfast which is awesome. Staff is friendly and professional. Only con was we were housed next to the elevator which made cranking noises when ascending as well as descending.

Worst stay I've ever had with IHG account. It's crazy I drove 3 and a half ours to service my self. The best thing about hotel is the location. That is it! Staff unprofessional and mean spirited. Room had brown water coming from sink and black residue was it tub! Mold is in room near window. I was so upset that I was treated like that. I wanted to come relax and get a massage the number I. The spa book is disconnected and when staff tried to transfer me to the spa no one answered or called back. I told staff about the nasty water the told me to let it run for 20 minutes? I just wanna know If they saw that I had a reservation why would they not check the rooms especially if they know there were issues? Staff didn't even as if I would like to change rooms. I basically paid to come and clean up the Crowne Plazas mess! Shirley was very witty with her responses to one of my concerns and the hotel manager had to apologize on her behalf because she wasn't going to do it. I was so embarrassed to be here. Absolutely disgusted. Staff bad, rooms not updated or thoroughly clean. I will post pictures of my stay.

Undergoing remodeling but service is non existent. No room service, no concierge, no ice in the ice machines. Nobody even answered at the front desk all night. It s like they forgot they were running the hotel and that there was paying customers there that required service.

The room was very loud. It sounded like there was something vibrating in the wall all night. The room at one point smelled like something had died. The shower fluctuates in temperate immensley. However the place is clean and the staff is friendly.

Great guest services but the hotel itself needs a desperate remodel. Very dated, noticed water damage by the window in the room. Low ceiling in the bathroom with the fire sprinkler placed in the shower, be careful not to bump it while showering.
The pool is the size of a kiddie pool if that.
Did not try the restaurant or bar so no comments on that.
Parking available for a fee in a parking garage next door, unless you find free parking on a nearby street. Valet in available at this location.

I was here for a job fair. The hall was spacious and the hotel had a very nice ambience. The receptionist was ver polite. They charged $3 for the parking, which was ok. The restroom was well maintained. I did not visit any restaurants here.

This hotel is old and run down. The walls inside the room were filthy, and the mattresses were worn out. The single cup coffee maker had small bugs crawling inside of it and on the coffee mugs next to it. They looked like small ants, but were something different. Overnight parking is $9 per night, and the garage has extremely tight spaces and looks older than the hotel. One a positive note, the young lady at the front desk was friendly.

I have stayed at this Crowne at least four times and it is a nice hotel in a good area. First with the negative. The single most reason I do not like this hotel, and the other reviews will show, is that there is a definite problem with air conditioning though out the entire building. On two separate visits I had to change to a cooler room. The maintenance personnel have told me that the lower the floor, the cooler the room. I have been on the top floor twice and when the thermostat is set to 50 degrees for two hours, the room will get no cooler than 70 degrees F. That may be good for some people but not me. Secondly, the two night stands on each side of the bed have NO USB ports and there is only one vacant plug between them. So if you have a tablet and anything else that you want to plug in, you better bring a three way adapter. Lastly, because of the way the building was designed, there are not really any good views. Nothing can be done about that, just would be nice to have that. However, this is a solid 3 star hotel. Great location, nice staff, clean rooms and bathrooms, don't let the furniture throw you, it's a 50 s style and I like it. The self parking is only nine bucks, the internet works fine and was free but I don't know if that was because I am a member of the IHG. This hotel does have a swimming pool but it is small and looks like it was put in as an afterthought. The restaurant and bar are great, a little pricey for me but I think it's par for most hotels. The price that I get online with sites like Priceline make it a place that I would book again, just on a lower floor.

EDIT:: Upon checking out of the hotel, I had the opportunity to discuss my concerns with the front office manager, Jawanza. She was a pleasure to talk to and was she understood my frustration and admitted that the experience that I had was unacceptable. After listening to my concerns and frustrations, Jawanza did everything that she could to redeem the reputation of this Crown Plaza location and to ensure that before I left the building that she cared about my experience and would move a mountain to make it right. Without Jawanza I don't know how this location could even attempt to manage the frustration of their guests. She handled the situation with elegance and grace and this hotel is incredibly fortunate to have her on staff. Thank you Jawanza.

Holy Cow, this is absolutely the worst hotel that I could have imagined staying in for this trip to Houston. When choosing a hotel, I am quite selective and my experience has told me that Crown Plaza hotels are generally nice. I was wrong, horribly & terribly wrong.

The first night, I was tired, so I was able to ignore the fact that the staff was rude, the room was less than satisfactory and the advertised amenities were absent, however, upon returning to this dump for the second night, I was less than pleased to discover that my already substandard room had been cleaned by someone that forgot to replace the towels after taking the dirty ones and left no ice bucket. (The ice situation is already a disaster since the one on this floor is broken as is the one on the floor above me.)

I decided that it was time to get help from the front desk so I headed downstairs in one of the death trap elevators. (Pictures to follow.) Once I was able to gain the desk agents attention, (she was watching something incredibly interesting on her phone in the back room) she told me that I would have to wait until morning when a Manager arrived to get assistance with my concerns. I suppose I will use the blow dryer to dry off in the morning after my shower so I can talk to the manager.... that is convenient, isn't it?

So, if you have a preference for a quality hotel, I would advise that you not book here. You might be more comfortable sleeping in your car. Based on my experience showering in your car would be just as easy as it is here at the Crown Plaza. (If you are in your car it would certainly be easier to get ice!)

Lackluster and inconsiderate staff, shoddy facilities, death trap elevators and advertised amenities that don't exist are solid proof that IHG Hotels do not enforce any sort of quality standards and do not monitor the quality of the properties that display the Crown Plaza name. That being considered, once I have successfully dried off with the blow dryer in the morning, I am going to see if I can hang a Crown Plaza sign on my shed and book reservations through IHG for a profit. I actually feel like my shed is just as nice, if not nicer than this Crown Plaza location.

After visiting a few Crowne plazas, I guess my standards were raised. A little high. 9.00 to park with limited space available. The rooms were spacious, but very outdated furniture. Very uncomfortable for what ive come to expect from a Crowne Plaza. A ba rely functional television just was the final step of dissatisfaction with this one.

This stay was great. Clean quiet restful. Love the complimentary breakfast. Waiters get to know regulars and remember your favorites. The evening menu is so good also. Never tried noon. Enjoy your stay as we do. Miss Gigi

This hotel is the worst neighbor one could have. They had damage to their a/c system during the hurricane and brought in a massive trailer to cool the hotel . Output is aimed at the back of our townhouse complex and blasts noise 24/7. Sid, the GM, promises and promises and promises but this is still going on creating an unbearable situation for us. They don't care. Very angry!

A 3.5 star hotel in name only. Old building that shows it's age. The carpet throughout the hotel smells terrible, including in the room. The bed sheets did not smell clean either. Overall, very uncomfortable experience

So... Staff is awesome. Very helpful. Some unavoidable issues not the hotels fault. But.... The hallways smell musty and molded. The rooms are decent but Poor ventilation. Ac barely worked . window literally dripped water because of condensation due to no ventilation which explains the terrible smell of the rooms and hallways. It is outdated . needs renovations. If it wasn't for the staff being so awesome I would say there is better near by for same rate.

The hotel was easy to find but the garage parking was very tight. Room seemed daily clean but somewhat rushed. Drawers we're still slightly open, carpet was not vacuumed very well, and only 2 bath towels were provided. Room next door had tv very loud majority of the night and quite a bit of late night hallway activity disrupted our rest. It was a place to sleep but not my choice accommodations. Last time I was here, about two years ago things were much nicer.

I enjoy staying at Crown Plaza hotels I have had good luck with most of them. This wasn't one of them there was a smell to the room and the pillow or sheets. They tried to fix but it didn't work, I was only there for two night so it wasn't worth moving, and they don't have a downtown shuttle.

Thought I was getting a good deal until we got into the hotel room. The worse part was the room felt humid must be because of how old the hotel is. Whatever was in the vent made my kids asthma flare up. We had booked two night but after the first night with the AC blowing dust and probably mold around we could not stay for the second night, my daughter had a hard time breathing... I was really disappointed. The hotel definitely needs a make over and the carpets felt so disgusting. The pull out couch was about as comfortable as a cot... the mattress was super old and flat and the kids complained it hurt their back. There were no linens provided for the pull out couch I called front desk said they would bring them up but they never did.The rooms were definitely outdated and after the price for parking you can definitely stay at a way better hotel.

Terrible stay. Several cars were broke into including mine. Had a 2019 GMC pickup and broke 2 side windows. Office staff didnt even seemed concerned. Was told someone would look at the video when they came in. Never asked my name just to contact the police . And on top of that was charged $9 for parking . Should of at least gave a discounted room or been more concerned. Had signs not responsible for articles left in car. I didnt have anything in the car. They need to secure there parking.management should of at least call thoes involved. Everone be careful. Not a save place and heater in room dont work.

The associates were very nice and helpful however the hotel is in need of an update. Bubbling paint in the bathroom, cracking paint on the walls, stained bed spreads and towels, and loose outlets. Simple changes would make a huge difference.

- very stuffy old carpet smell in the hallways and a bit in the room.
- a lot of neglected areas, ex. dirty hole in wall with newspapers covering it. Shower head rusted.
- no control of air conditioning
- very old, looked like from the 90s, the furniture, old tv, Andrew dice clay playing in the lounge.
-parking garage was wishy washy. Water puddles everywhere. Very inconvenient, you have to be in another building for parking then go into the hotel.
- you can't park anywhere when checking in, you have to give a staff member your car keys.
- $9/day parking fee they don't tell you about on hotwire
- you don't get this impression from the reviews, so they might be fake.
- it looks like an old hotel that the owner doesn't want to renovate and out money in it, they just want to make as much money as they can from an old hotel.
- overall bad vibe, glad I left.
