Crowne plaza river oaks is nothing short of hotel living at its best...the inside decor is filled with crescent shaped lounge chairs for casual conversations but this hotel is anything but casual..the seven foot window overlooking river oaks swanky to-do's was the highlight of my stay...the amazingly vast lounge space inside my room more than made up for the outdated decor..and the tasteless breakfast...the staff are some of the friendliest people that you'll ever meet and answered every request with a smile...my overall stay was delightful and I can't wait for a return visit...

It's a decent hotel, but the smell of mold is very intense. They have a pool, but it's kind of small. I've never used it. You have to pay to use the parking garage which is $9/day per car (or at least that's what we were charged when we went)

Sadly disappointed. My little family was having to hop around hotels in the city to accommodate our housing needs during the Hurricane Harvey evacuation. We had stayed at a Comfort Inn and had overbooked us with other victims. We were super excited to find a reasonable available room here as we had stayed at other Crowne Plaza Hotels in the city, even more stoked because this one sits in the middle of the Higher end areas where service and quality is made a priority which was exciting after what we went through during the storm.

First, I couldn't believe you need to pay for parking your own car - not just valet service. There is not another option to park elsewhere so I think it's poor taste to charge self parking vehicles a fee to park in the same hotel you are paying to stay in. I'm thinking are they really hurting for money so much they can't include this somewhere in the room rate? Not that I'm being cheap but it's poor taste. Valet, sure. People come to this hotel for first class service such as this and expect to pay to be extra pampered.

The entrance is beautiful, so my family gets very excited while I check in. Very professional manager trying to train a new person. First impression, cold manager but professional with good manners. Was given my keys, no offer for help. If selling extra pamper services, some impression of this hotel would think the bellhop could be offered even if there would be fees involved for better upswell of more pampered services. Plus it was obvious that we had very heavy bags and an infant. Was never directed to where the elevators could be found and had to wander around several times with my infant and heavy bags until we found it on our own.

As we get in the elevator, I started thinking this building and elevator are showing big signs that this hotel isn't being well cared for and is long overdue for a renovation. It is vey outdated, and shows age and poor quality of maintenance. Basically, nice entrance area giving the illusion that you are being welcomed to a very comfortable time but once you check in it's obvious this building is in need of serious investment of care.

Enter the room and you get slapped in the face with a odor that smells like cat pee. Initially dismissed it and thought maybe the air conditioning needs modifying as it felt damp. Taken my shoes off and while my infant found a lamp that had a short and wires exposed on the floor, the carpet was very moist. The air conditioner was not working at all and not blowing. Called the front desk and they said they would send maintenance. Giving it some thought, my infant starting crawling around and went straight for the cords. Decided, better off cancel the room and get a refund. This was too dangerous and even the bed was wet.

The manager quickly refunded us but did find it disappointing that he did not offer to either provide us with an invitation to win us back and try again or to switch rooms and upgrade .. something! I felt though that would offer us the chance To change my mind by a better experience.

Being that said, it's the reason for the poor rating. This hotel did not meet or exceed my expectations and felt my business was valued. Mind you, I am not seeking a free room, I was looking for this hotel to value my experience as word of mouth is powerful and even one small family let others know it left us with a feeling of major disappointment and will not return.

In the end, we are one family but luckily word of mouth catches on as quick as fire. So, maybe our business isn't so significant after all!

Nice hotel. Enjoyed the stay. Hotel staff accommodating and made a trip for a not so pleasant reason a lot more cheerful because of their cooperation. Located close to downtown and rooms are for a reasonable price as well. Will definitely be staying here again.

I would give this location a zero stars. Put online I wanted a king size bed. Didn't get it, but the thing is I don't find out till I get to the room. No one at the front desk told me there were no more king size beds available. When I get to the room I see what I get, so I call and talk to John, who needs to learn what to and what not to say. Tells me since I did the resignation thru a third party it doesn't promise I will get that???? I am an IHG rewards member and I picked my location and room they that app? They encourage that, so how is it that I don't get what I wanted and paid for. I would say false advertising and just wrong. On top of it I tell John, I guess next time I'll have to stay at a different place since I can't get what I want and asked for; his response "you can do what you want." John doesn't even care. Is that the way they train there employees here? Need less to say I will pick a different hotel next time. Currently staying here right now this minute and not satisfied with room or even a decent apology.

The customer service was great that s why I m giving two stars, but the hotel itself needs upgrading. The rooms are extremely out of date the ceiling has gashes in it, the faucet in the tub was messed up I had to play with it to get room temperature water. It s overpriced for what you are presented with and parking is $9 a night.

If you just need a bed for the night, then yea they have those. Otherwise I would avoid this hotel if at all possible. To start the room was damp feeling. I don't know if it was damaged in the hurricane but it felt moist in the air. The More

Great location and convenient to everything you need to have a good trip. One side of the hotel had a great view of downtown & the other side was super quiet no street noise. I liked this place just needed a bigger entry area for cars & people.

First night room was leaking water. They changed my room to another floor and someone was smoking marijuana in one of the rooms and it had the floor smelling bad.
The hotel itself had a mildew smell and needs to changed carpet.

Good view from the room window. One of the busiest motel around that area. Parking is not free here. Their infrastructure is really old so the room which I checked inn first, didn t had heater working and bathroom sealing was leaking badly. So I asked for another room which was good. Helpful staff and had good restaurant at the downstairs.

It was a good hotel with easy driving access to MD Anderson. The hotel itself was fine, the hotel bar was well stocked and attended, and the staff was all very helpful. There is an attached parking garage.
