Good couple stays, nice, clean and comfortable rooms in a Downtown area. Make sure you call before you checking and ask them to adjust room temperature as you need it, first time we stayed was too warm and last time too cold, after we contacted front desk a maintenance worker made the proper "pipes" adjustments, because thermostat was useless. They shouldn't charge neither for guess parking.

Very old rooms, be careful with the stairs in the parking garage they are very slippery, I fell. Staff was attentive but seems like nothing else was done to warn guest of slippery stairs. Great location if visiting Houston.

The hotel was very nice and clean. The only issue we had was that the AC would NOT turn off. It was set of 65 and it was extremely cold. We tried all night to change the temp, but it wouldn't change.

Upgraded to king suite-which was nice (this provided ample room to rest & relax). Rooms are dated; however, location was close to everything. Lots of shopping and eating nearby. Staff was prompt and courteous but the Pool is too small to be functional.

We had an okay stay at the hotel. Check-in was quick and easy. Got a quiet room on the 10th floor. The big negative for me is $9 for over night parking. What a rip! Parking there should be complimentary in my opinion. Room was clean but with dated furniture. One chair was shabby.
Hall smelled of deodorant that I believe was trying to mask underlying mildewy smell. Convenient location.

The hotel was extremely gross smelling. The elevator, the hallway, and the room all smelled like an old wet towel. The rooms were very out of date and everything was sort of damp.
The only redeeming point was the staff were very kind and accommodating when I expressed my concerns about the hotel. I wouldn't stay here again but the staff are great.

Decent Room. Thin walls. Could hear phone conversations verbatim through the walls. Could hear person in other room grunting in restroom and possibly listening to adult entertainment. Has all normal amenities you would need or expect at a good hotel. Each corridor and hall way have distinct smells. Most of them bad. My room smelt good and that's all I really cared about. I recommend this hotel but bring earplugs. Staff was very warm and nice.

The hotel was super clean and it gave a roof over our head and that was about the only pro. Customer service was awful. Iron was broke, called to get replacement and no one came. Left it out, and still wasn t replaced. They were alerted by more than myself that the music downstairs was coming through the vents upstairs around 9:30 PM and took them about 30 minutes before it was low enough for us to sleep. Room service was two hours behind, and every hour we called to make an order, they continued to push it back. I think they were majorly overwhelmed and understaffed. I don t think they took the necessary precautions for a NFL football game nearby and a Christmas crowd. Wouldn t recommend this hotel if there s another one available.

Room was nice and so was the lobby, however, I did not enjoy my stay. I was staying on the 7th floor and the walls are paper thin. You can hear anyone in the halls as well as ur neighbor showering. The ice machine was not even hooked up to the watwr source and the pipe was laying on the dirty floor. You have to go to another floor to get ice. The fitness room was a joke. The A/c did not work so it was a sauna inside. It was very small, nothing like the pictures. The worst thing was there was no water cooler or machine!!! What kind of hotel did I pay for? If you want good amenities, go somewhere else.

Staff is very rude. Made me pay for parking even though I payed for the room. They act as if they don't want to hear what you have to say. Four star rating for this place is definitely a lie. Never book here!

The real score for this hotel is 3.5. We stayed here for 5 days. This hotel is in a decent area in the downtown Houston area. The hotel is outdated but was constructed well with quality components so the potential is there to make this hotel great. Some of the staff is nice and some of the staff needs a reboot. Our last night the hotel was without hot water so they gave us 25000 pts which is one night stay. We could stay here again but I hope they really do a nice renovation because this property has potential.

You guys were so wonderful! Thank you so much!!

You guys were so wonderful! Thank you so much!!

Our visit was in August 2017. Unfortunately we were there in Houston because of a tragedy and were a little emotional during our stay. The staff was so loving, helpful and supportive! They really helped us get through an extremely rough and emotional time. We will always be grateful! If we're ever back in Houston, this hotel will be our first choice.

Our room was really nice and clean. Housekeeping and the hotel staff respected our privacy while mourning, yet still made sure that we had everything we needed.

While we weren't able to fully enjoy the hotel restaurants menu due to lack of appetite, what we did eat was to our liking. You can order off the menu or choose the self serving buffet (if I remember correctly it was all you can eat) which included an omelette station were you could customize your own omelette and they would cook it right there for you. As well as a few other things. They had a nice selection of both hot and cold items, including fruit.

I'm not sure what her title is but our waitress/server was amazing!!
Thank you Z for being such a loving, caring and supportive individual!! You helped us more than you know and we were and are still greatly appreciative!

The shoe shine guy was also great and did a good job shining my brother's shoes!

A big thanks to those who were at the front desk who were extremely patient with me even though I couldn't seem to keep my key card away from my phone.
(As long as you remember that cell phones and key cards are enemies, you should be fine. Especially my phone which has a magnetic screen cover!)

Another thing that we really liked was the fact that their parking garage is secure.

They had a swimming pool and if you like working out, they had treadmills and weights and...I don't remember what else but I think there was a television in there as well (to distract your mind while your body is getting a workout).

They have a gift shop as well as a place where you can get a massage and other great things that I can't think of right now. Like a valet service if you choose to use it and a shuttle bus that will take you to specific locations.

Very well appointed rooms, everything was A+, rooms were clean, linens, beds, pillows etc were updated and in excellent condition. Staff was more than helpful, valet was a great extra. The breakfast buffet delicious! Try the hotel restaurant for an eat in option. Was here to go to MD Anderson for Cancer treatment and found this hotel a great place for recovery. Highly recommended!!

Pro: cheap, plenty of rooms, decent size rooms, great location, free parking

Cons: cheap, dated, diverse clientele,

Taken all the above into consideration, it's a place I'd recommend if you were in a pinch and needed a quick easily accessible place to stay for a night or two

Gone down hill in maintenance. Those are pictures of the staples holding the wallpaper on and one that looks like mold. It's a nice touch. For the same price the Indigo isn't that far away. Downtown is close and those IHG don't use staple guns for basic repairs. This was our probably our 5th stay, so we'll just give it a pass next time.

The combination of price, location, amenities, and quality put Crowne Plaza in a class all its own. It is convenient, classy, and affordable. Whenever I need a break for my usual whirlwind but don't want to leave town, I default on the Crowne Plaza as my retreat.

I only picked one star because no stars is not an option. Our experience here has been nothing but awful from the time we checked in. My family and I are in town for a national volleyball tournament and this is one of the hotels we were made to stay at with AES. When I checked in the service representative told me he could not find my reservation. Luckily I had printed out my reservation confirmation. After going to the back for more than five minutes he came back and said they were able to find my reservation. I paid and took my family upstairs. I had booked a room with 2 double beds but walked into a room with a king size bed and a couch. At no time did the representative tell me we we not have the room I reserved. When I went downstairs for an explanation I was told they ran out of rooms with double beds. I expressed to them that was problem as I had my husband and 2 teenagers with me. I was then informed that the couch was a pullout and that was they beat they could do for me. With no other options I asked for sheets for the pullout bed and extra pillows and blankets for my kids. That was around 3 pm. I left the hotel and returned around 9 pm. When I came back my kids informed me that we still had not received the extra pillows and blankets, please keep in mind I only needed 2 pillows and 2 blankets. I had to go back downstairs and ask again for the linens. I was given a trash bag with one set of sheets, 1 pillow and 1 blanket. When I came back to ask for the other pillow and blanket I was told the hotel was out and there was nothing they could do for me. I asked to speak to a supervisor as this was unacceptable. The manager proceeded to tell me that they were out of linens due to too many people at the hotel. The manager said there absolutely nothing he could do for me and if they happen to across an extra pillow and blanket they would let me know. I told them how ridiculous that was and that I needed to next higher ups information to lodge a complaint. Fortunately another volleyball mom overheard me and came up to me about her frustrations with the hotel. It seems they were being moved from their room due to the shower not draining. She offered me a pillow and blanket from her room. On top of all of this, the room was subpar and it was hit. We had the AC on high at 60 and it was still hot. We will never stay here again and urge that the next customer not waste their money and time at this establishment. -Julia

We had quite the stay at Crowne Plaza. First they sent us to a room that was already occupied by someone. That someone decided to cock a handgun to which we heard on the other side of the door. I told my family to go back to the elevator as fast as we could. Going back to the concierge where we told them of the dilemma. The lady working the front desk said that it was a "police officer." They sent us to a room that was occupied by someone with a pistol. That situation could have gone south quickly. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Update:

As you might be able to tell that the owner Debbie reached out to me through this review. Although I tried to email her just to find out that the email address given does not exist. The irony is thick and inescapable. Service with a ghost! Now I'm wishing there's a 0 star.

I travel a lot. After a while all the hotels seem to blur together. One thing that makes a hotel stand out to me are the people, the staff. Thanks to Ms Ana Maria Hussar at the front desk I will stay at the Crowne plaza Everytime I come to Houston! You were profession, prompt and very kind. And most of all, genuine. If anyone is looking for an affordable
Chic hotel in the heart of Houston with top notch customer service. Please book with the crowne plaza and also tip: I've booked both directly and third party and it's much better if booked directly through the hotel. I've had may horror stories using Priceline and the like! Happy travels!

I stayed for one night and enjoyed it! Great value and upgraded to a suite for just $50! They took great car of the Bentley Mulsanne in valet and only charged $15 a night! The room service was FANTASTIC and also a great value! It came to the room very quickly! Everything from valet, to room service, to the front desk were 5 stars. The room was spacious, clean, BUT a bit dated.
THINGS I WOULD CHANGE:
- the elevators are very old and dated. I often thought they might stop lol!
- bigger tv's in rooms. I like the suite has a separate living room area but the TV's were quite small
- the bathroom was a bit dated
THINGS I LIKED:
- Room service was GREAT and a great value!
- Valet service was GREAT and also a great value. The staff was attentive, appreciative of tips but never asked, and was very quick with the car. They took good care of my car and parked it up front where I could even see it at all times from the room.
- Great value on price without having to feel like you are staying in a motel! The upgrade to a suite for only $50 makes this place a gem close to home that I will definitely keep on the list!
- Suite was a very good size! I generally like a suite to at LEAST be 600 sq ft. This was a very good size room and a GREAT value!

The ONLY reason it gets a 4, is because there are better hotels out there in the area. At this price, you will NOT find much better though. I paid $60 plus the $50 upgrade and left very pleased! They also let me use cash which is a plus getting your deposit back. We spent the deposit on food lol but still a great overall experience. Kudos to the staff!

We had breakfast buffet on a Sunday, the lady making the omelets was super rude with all of us, we tried to smile to her but not even like that she couldn't change her attitude...she was upset maybe, I know we all have bad days sometimes... I asked for American Cheese but she used 3 blended cheese, I ask her twice but she never said I'm sorry we don't have American she just used the other kind without asking...

Got in and went to the room we were assigned and the room was occupied. After trying the key and it didn't work. Then the guest came to the door to give us another hint we were at the wrong room. We got another room. Now I don't know if it's because we are in houston, but walking to the room was like walking through humidity. Very stuffy.
Our room was ok. I'm not picky but the first thing I notice is dirty walls as I walk in. Mostly scuff marks. But hey when you put Rivers Oaks Crowne Plaza, on your name, you expect the best.
Don't get me wrong the place is clean. It just needs a little polishing. It's a little worn.

Don't ever ever stay here.

Don't ever ever stay here.

Management is horrible. I had an issue that I needed to talk to management about, I was left on hold, transferred incorrectly, and told that a manager was coming to the phone when really he was in a meeting and no one had any intention of transferring me and just hung up the phone. Will be reporting this place on Priceline and Trip Advisor. What a joke. I had a bad feeling about the reviews for this place and now I know why.

The beds we're comfy but we were unable to get an early check-in and it took 30 minutes to finally get access to the pool, 2 of the 4 elevators were not working so it took awhile to finally get to the room had to go to a different floor for ice and the vending machines would not except cash so you had to use a credit card for a soda- I'm a Hilton honors member and kinda expected more from Hilton
